Name server configuration

Hi all,
I have created tracks and developed DCs and it works successfully  .Now,I need to create a name prefix for my DCs.Inorder to do this
1) I have confgured the name server at http://hostname:port/dtr/system-tools/administration/NameServerConfiguration
2) I added the name prefix uder name reservation in teh SLD and have enabled the sld as the name server for NWDI.
Moreover in the landscape system that i have defined, I have included the sld as name server by ticking that check box.
with this I guess the name prefix should appear in my NWDS when i try to create a new DC.But then it doesnot appear.the dropdown is in disabled mode
Kindly guide me through

  • NWDI for the 04s preview fails with 'SLD name-server configuration error'

After the installation, everything seems to work fine except that when I go to CMS, the links on the top seems to be hardcoded to point to http://pwdf3102:50100/dtr, even in the Domain Data. When I tried to change it to my local server, it keeps complaining about "Unexpected error; inform your system administrator: <Localization failed: ResourceBundle='com.sap.cms.util.exception.CMSExceptionMessages', ID='SLD name-server configuration error', Arguments: []> : Can't find resource for bundle java.util.PropertyResourceBundle, key SLD name-server configuration error"
Any suggestions on how to work around this? Thanks.

    Brian,
Try to import the model file first by going to SLD->Administration->Import CIM Model. If the problem sticks, then try to remove the systems. The preview version has lots of pre-exist system name in the technical system, which you can find giving errors since they're not reachable. So you can remove them from SLD (Home->Technical Systems) if they are preventing you from procceeding.
You need to go to http://server:port/dtr/system-tools/administration/NameServerConfiguration to update the name server as well.
    Hope this helps...

  • Asynchronous reserve finally failed: missing name server configuration

    Hi,
can anybody give me a hint why we get these errors?
"asynchronous reserveFinally failed: missing name server configuration, no logon known -> operation will be retried name reservation : name server=http://sapcoe01.bbn.hp.com:50000/,  category=SAP_DevelopmentComponentName, name=hp.com/appl/tax, reservationKey=63415681, state=FINALIZE_PENDING"
The development objects are listed in SLD with status PRERES. The Name Server location is configured in DTR with the logon data. The name server is also listed in the development configuration.
Where else could be the cause for this error?
    Many thanks for any hints!

    Hi Martin,
Here you can see the *_PENDING items: http://<host>:50000/dtr/sysconfig/support/NameReservationList
And here you can configure the name server: http://<host>:50000/dtr/system-tools/administration/NameServerConfiguration
The solution is to define your name server a second time with a slightly different URL. The first entry you already defined probably uses the fully qualified hostname, e.g. <i>http://<host>.mycompany.com:50000/sld/cimom</i>. Define the same name server again but <b>without the domain</b> and <b>without the /sld/cimom path</b>, e.g. <i>http://<host>:50000/</i>. Actually it should correspond to what's shown in the error message, e.g. "operation will be retried name reservation : name server=<b>http://<host>:50000/</b>,". When you click Save Configuration, the pending items in the queue will be processed. The only problem we have left is that "after some time" the 2nd entry we just defined dissapears and we need to configure it again (and again and again...)
    Kind regards,
    Sigiswald

  • Object Name / Name Server configuration

    Hello community,
I am trying to grasp how to setup the name server configuration in the sld for use with JDI / NWDI.
What makes me wonder is that one has to provide a namespace prefix / object name in two different locations (NW04sSP09 / SR2):
    1. sld -> Administration -> Section:Server Settings -> Object Name
    2. sld -> Landscapes -> New Landscape... (type NWDI Systems) -> Add system to landscape -> New Hosted System ... (type SLD) -> Field "Object Server".
What is the difference between these two namespace settings?
I checked SAP Help,  several SLD Guides, RKT Content, SAP Notes without finding a clear answer, sadly. I would really appreciate if someone could help clarifing this question.
    Thanks
    Kristian

    Hi all,
short update: A test (NW04sSP9) showed that the input field for the object server name in (2) is not persisting the prefix information.
After restarting the SLD Server the field shows the prefix provided in (1).
Changing the name in (1) also updated the name of the input field Object Server in (2) after SLD server restart.
Problably the input field (2) ought to be read-only? Or is there a reason for write-mode I cannot find out?

  • Error accessing Name Server Configuration

    Hello,
I have installed WebAS 6.40 SP11 and deployed JDI SP11 on a single stand-alone machine, which is configured as Landscape and Name Server. When I try to access the Name Server Configuration in the DTR I get a "Server not found" error.
    The URL is http://<server>:<port>/dtr/system-tools/administration/NameServerConfiguration
Where can I search for the reason? Any hints?
    Regards,
    Bjoern

    Hi Bjorn,
As of SP11, the name server configuration requires SSL to be accessed.  Thus you need to set up your JDI box for SSL communications then the address would be:
    https://<server>:<SSL port>/dtr/system-tools/administration/NameServerConfiguration
SP11 is the first SP to require this SSL access.  Note that the communication between your JDI and the Name Server does NOT need to be SSL.  You can use the same configuration you used before.  Only the access to the name server configuration needs to be SSL.
         Hope this helps,

  • Siebel Gateway Name Server Configuration Wizard returns "Execution failed"

    Hi,
I am installing Siebel 8.1.1.1 on Linux platform and now having problem while trying to configure Siebel Gateway Name Server.
    Steps done:
    1) DB instance prepared
    2) Created Siebel installation image
    3) Installed Siebel server and configured Gateway name server (the wizard started automatically as part of the installation). Skip configuration of Enterprise and SWSE Logical profile
    4) Ran DB Configuration Wizard for the primary language - successfully. Import repository-add language - successfully.
    5) Trying to Wizard "Configure Enterprise" - failed with "Execution failed"
Here I thought that probably Gateway Nameserver was not configured and decided to remove the Gateway and create it from scratch.
Unfortunately this time the Gateway configuration failed. Also with message"Execution failed"
Here are the errors I got in the log files sw_cfg_util*.log

Just in case anybody bumps in this thread:
The problem in my case was solved according with Oracle Note "Delete and create the "Siebel Server" via Configuration Wizard on Linux, it failed. [ID 880562.1]"
    Applies to:
    +Siebel CRM - Version: 8.1.1 SIA [21111] and later   [Release: V8 and later ]+
    Linux x86
    Symptoms
Delete the "Siebel Server" once and then create a new "Siebel Server" via Siebel Server Configuration Wizard on Linux, it failed with message "Execution Failed".
The error on sw_cfg_util_xx.log is as follows,
    GenericLog GenericError 1 0000ce524a3a1bd2:0 2009-06-19 10:18:33 Executing step: AddSrvrRegistryEntry

    Reproduce steps:
    - confirm that siebel server was created before, and is stopping.
    - create sh env and enter the following command to remove the Siebel Server.
    +$ cd $(SiebelServerRoot)+
    +$ . ./cfgenv.sh+
    +$ cd $(SiebelServerRoot)/bin+
    +$ ./ssincfgw+
    - select "3 - Remove Existing Configuration".
    - complete the configuration wizard.
    - enter the following command to create the Siebel Server.
    +$ cd $(SiebelServerRoot)+
    +$ . ./cfgenv.sh+
    +$ cd $(SiebelServerRoot)/bin+
    +$ ./ssincfgw+
    - select "1 - Create New Configuration".
    - continue inputs to finish and execute the configration.
    +==> you'll find "Execution Failed".+
    Cause
AddSrvrRegistryEntry section shown in the log is the command for registering the Windows Service, and it is no need to execute on Linux env. However, it is executed and it failied.
    Solution
You can do either of follows,
+(1) Uninstall and Install the Siebel Server again.+
+(2) The section to execute the Windows registeration command is specified on $(SiebelServerRoot)/admin/common.scm, line 2475-2477.+
    +[Step]+
    Name = AddSrvrRegistryEntry
    Type = RunProg %%SiebelRoot%%%%OSDirSeparator%%bin%%OSDirSeparator%%siebctl ' -r %%SiebelRoot%% -q -S siebsrvr -i "%%SiebelEnterprise%%:%%SiebelServer%%" -a -g "-g %%SiebelGateway%% -e %%SiebelEnterprise%% -s %%SiebelServer%% -u %%Username%%" -e %%Password%% '
So, delete the AddSrvrRegistryEntry section from common.scm, and execute Configuration Wizard again.

    Hi Ganesh,
In order to access the Visual Administrator, go to Start > Programs > SAP J2EE Engine > Visual Administrator. After you login, you will see 2 nodes i.e. Dispatcher and Server. Expand the Server node. Then go to "Services" and expand it. Then go all the way down to "TREX Service". Then on the right hand side, go to the property "nameserver.address" where you will key in "tcpip://<nameserver>:<port>". Then hit "Update" and click on the "Save" button. Then when you go to TRex Monitor, you should be able to see the Name Server running. Hope this helps.

  • How To Configure TREX Name Server&Port for UDDI  Service Registry Settings

    Hello Experts,
we are using CE 7.1 SP 4 and I would like to use the trex service in the Service Registry.

  • Problem with SCs that created before the Name Server was configured

    Hello,
I have created an SC and developed it.
When I created it, the Name Server wasn't configured and because of that, when I created new DC for this SC I needed to write the vendor manually. Lets assume I wrote example.org.
Sometime after I did configured the Name Server and I reserved example.org as a namespace prefix.
When I create new SC and new DCs in it everything is OK: Instead of writing example.org as my vendor I can choose from a combo box between sap.com and my own which is example.org.
The problem arises with the SC that has been developed before the Name server was configured: If I create new DC for it the vendor is shaded with sap.com inside with no option to change it, even though the previous DCs for this SC were created under the vendor example.org (which I entered manually).
I assume I can (with a lot of manual work) create new SC and move the DCs (or only their code) to the newly created SC, where I have the option to choose, but I am looking for more simpler solution. For example, changing a certain configuration file at the SC or so.
    Anyone has an idea?
    Thank you in advance,
    Roy

    Hi,
    Please clarify me the following.
You specified the login name as 'SADMIN'. Is this the login id, that you used for your Operating System? "Entered name account authentication gateway server name" expects you to enter the NT login, not the DB login.
You may also expected to specify your network name, if your login id is specific to a network. e.g Oracle\Rajkumar assuming that Oracle is your network and Rajkumar is the user name.
You may not expected to have the DSN created, as Gateway may not be interested in knowing which DB you are connected to. And you neither enter the 'DB name' anywhere in the 'Gateway Server Configuration', if my understanding is right.
    Please confirm.

  • Name server not updated in development configuration after change of SLD

    Hi Guys
Hope you can help me with this one.
We have moved our SLD from one server to another.
After this we changed the name server in NWDI and in NWDS.
In NWDS i removed the development configuration and reimported it, but when I do this, a popup box shows the details of the development configuration and the name server is still the old SLD server. This means that when I start the NWDS I get an error saying that the name server host is unreachable.
    Where do I change this?
I found out that the name server is setup in the .confdef file under .dtc\0 in the field called name-server-url. If I change this manually in the file, it works. But if I remove the development configuration and reimport it again, I am taken back to the old name server again.
It seems as if something has to be changed in NWDI, but I can't figure out what.
    Can anybody help?
    Cheers,
    Jacob Vennervald

    Hi Jacob,
    I would proceed as follows:<br><br>
    -  login to your new SLD<br>
    -  go to the technical systems in the landscape area of the SLD<br>
    -  in the filter drop down select AS JAVA<br>
    - check if your NWDI has reported to this SLD in the last 12 or 24 hours, you can check this on the "last update" column<br>
    - if your system has reported to this sld the last few hours this is good if not go to the step "change J2ee to new sld" i will descirbe later.<br>
    - remember the name of the system here. it is like sid on dbhostname.<br>
    -  got to sld administration (link on top) choose content maintenace in administration<br>
    - in the subset filter select "All with instances" as class set SAP AS JAVA Cluster<br>
    - you should find your system there. click on it.<br>
    - in the new screen find a link in the middle top <nr> associated instances -> click it<br>
    - in the next screen you will see the relationship of the technical system to the rest of the sld data.<br>
    - there should be a topic called "hosted application server"<br>
    - the should be an entry like: system landscape directory: sld on sid on server -> click it<br>
    - here you will see the data for this hosted system. You can find the cim/url definig the SLD you will find the roles. Landscape and name server should assigend and so on here you can chage the SLD url. <br><br>
You can although proceed as follows. This as well requieres you nwdi to report and use this sld in j2ee see below if not.<br>
    - on sld startscreen choose landscapes in the landscapes part of sld<br>
    - select landscape type nwdi systems<br>
    - if there is no landscape you can create one<br>
    - in the landscape ypu can assinge systems. The sld should be availabel to choose.<br>
    - once in the landscape you can view the system and you can change the CIM Server url and the roles there aswell its just another view on the content.<br>
    <br>
    you can although check:<br>
    - open name reservation from develpoment part of start screen<br>
    - here you should find a button about enabling or disabling the sld for nwdi usege. this should be of course enabled...<br>
    <br>
<b>"change J2ee to new sld" <br>Ok and here what to do or to check if you are not sure if your NWDI uses/reports to the new sld.</b><br>
    - Go to the nwdi server an open Visual admin i asume you are running a 7.0 Di if not let me knoe i can although tell you for CE.<br>
    - ok in VA. select on of your server nodes->services->SLD data supplier.<br>
    - an overview page will show up.<br>
    - select the http settings tab in the lower middle.<br>
    - https settings will tell the j2ee where to report to. Verify the data and change if needed. use the lightinigbolt button on top to transfer data to the sld. have a little patiance if your data is not shown immediately in your sld,. it may take 1-2 minutes until it is shown in the gui.<br>
    - switch to cim client generation tab. those paraemters will tell your j2ee from what sld to read data from. It is important to understand that you may report to one sld but to read from antioher. depending on your sld landscape. The CIm CLient should use the same Sld as your NWDI uses in CMS setting.<br>
    - if all is setup. do a cim client test.<br>
    <br><br>
Allright. This is all I know on how the NWDI is integrated in SLD. Hope you can resolve your problem wiht this steps.
    <br>
    Have a good time<br>

  • OS X 10.4.11 Server - configured name and reverse DNS do not match / DNS

    Hi all,
I have looked for similar posts but all seem to have different scenarios, hoping to get an answer from someone more experienced than myself before I do anything silly.
    Help much appreciated!
    Scenario:
We run a 10.4.11 OS X Server on an XServe, hosted at an ISP. ISP provides all DNS services, incl. the reversed DNS entry.
I am currently only running the following services (based on the display in ServerAdmin):
    AFP
    Firewall
    iChat
    Mail
    QuickTimeStreaming
    Web
All others (incl. DNS) are grayed out. (As ISP instructed us not to add a DNS service on our box, that's "normal" according to my experiences with dedicated /co-location server hosting).
We never used changeip after the initial setup, meaning the server's
    Current Hostname = somename.local and
    DNS Hostname = mail.ourdomainname.net
So in system.log I find this re-occuring entry:
Jul 8 11:41:22 somename servermgrd: servermgr_dns: configured name and reverse DNS name do not match (somename.local != mail.ourdomainname.net), various services may not function properly - use changeip to repair and/or correct DNS
    Finally, my question:
As Mail and Web services etc. are currently running OK from what I can tell,
    1) do I HAVE to change this at all?
    2) Would it be much better / why?
    3) Could I change this using the following command
(111.11.111.1 indicating the server's IP address)
    changeip 111.11.111.1 111.11.111.1 somename.local mail.ourdomainname.net
    4) without running a DNS server on the machine, i.e. DNS service is not required for this to work?
    5) obviously I want to be able to use Server Admin after I issue this command...
    6) can I fall back easily in case this would screw it up, or is there no risk whatsoever doing this in my case?
THANK YOU so much for any help!

    Hi Jonas
If port 443 is already being used on the same box as KMS then it will complain and probably not start the service? I've seen this with LDAP port 636. This is when Kerio is installed on a server configured as an OD Master. Clearly the port can't be used by both servers.
It might be easier to change the port your sites are currently using to something else? Although don't do anything yet. Pose the question to Kerio Support and see what advice they offer.
Yes moving the mail to a local folder on the mail client will do it.
Is Kerio going on the same box? If its a different box (presumably different IP address?) Then what you can do is to port forward to the new server's IP address instead of disabling it. This way while you are bringing the new server on line users can still send mail right up until the time you give instructions on changing their inbound/outbound mail server details. Of course they won't be able to receive but if you time it right they may not even get an error message? Depends on what their schedules are.
If it was me I would choose IMAP every time. As the mail admin you have full control and a central location for easy backup. KMS has a built in archiving feature that makes this a simple process. This is an easier option than going round individual client machines and making sure mail held locally in POP accounts are backed up. Besides there is always someone who falls through the loop and I'm not taking into account drive failures. It makes good sense anyway as there is talk of legislation being introduced to make this a requirement for businesses who run their own mail servers. This is certainly true for certain parts of the US and what usually happens there is generally taken up in the UK and most parts of Europe.
Kerio's WebMail Client means users don't even have to have their own computer. Just as long as they have access to one that has access to the internet they can send/receive mail. No need for dedicated mail applications such as Apple Mail, Thunderbird, Entourage etc. How mail is uses remains consistent for all users.
Yes. I did this not so long ago with Leopard's built in Mail Server. I sent an e-mail defining a time when no inbound mail would be received. Disabled port forwarding for SMTP port 25 and approx 30 minutes after that another mail stating no outbound mail should be sent. Once everything was swopped over (we were changing from a G4 10.4 server to a G5 10.5 Server) port 25 was enabled, new server brought online and everyone was mailing again with no appreciable downtime.
These boxes were to have the same IP address hence the slightly different approach.
    Does this help?

  • Configuring Siebel Gateway Name Server on Linux 64 bit OS

    Hello Siebel Experts,
I am currently installing Siebel 8.1.1.11 on a Linux 64-bit machine. After successfully completing the installation steps, I am proceeding with the configuring the server and its components.
I am starting with the configuration of Siebel Gateway Name Server as per the instructions mentioned on the url:
Bookshelf v8.1/8.2: Configuring the Siebel Enterprise
I completed steps 1 and 2 and started executing step 3: Start the Siebel Enterprise Configuration Wizard.
I provided all the necessary information till the summary information is displayed.
However when I click next, it immediately gives an error.
    >>Siebel Configuration Wizard fails with error. Please check the log files for details.
I searched for the log file in $SIEBEL_ROOT/cfgtoollogs/cfg/config_<date-time>.log
However there is no error information in this log file. It contains just INFO, SECTION, STEP or ATTRIBUTE mappings/values.
I could not find any .err file in this directory. Can you please let us know how to identify the error and debug this issue?
    Thanks in advance.
