Nattress Expired Software?

In 2008 I bought software from Nattress. At the time I was running OS X Tiger and had FCE HD installed. I bought the Nattress plug ins and honestly after paying over $190 I only use them a handful of times. // Present day, I'm running OS X Mavericks and FCP 10.1.2. The plugins I bought from Nattress are not compatible with the new OS nor FCP 10.1.2. I have contacted Nattress and there only suggestion is to upgrade to the new plugins they sell through FX Factory. Not sure that after spending almost $200 in a product I want to buy anything from this company.
MY questions:
1. Is there anything I can do?
2. What do people do with obsolete software?

Fades, dissolves, wipes, slow motion, are some of the most common ones I use. So they are not filled with layers upon layers of special effects, just enough to make it entertaining. Hope that clarifies that.
I do videos for fun and creativity (a step above your iMovie) and no hollywood productions. Using the above effects listed above, split moving screens and film look effect, etc. to keep me and my audience engage as oppose to bored. That's the reason I mentioned videos that are made by companies out there that charge a lot of money yet their product is not the most engaging. That said in my original post, I bought plugins that were more of a mistake as I edit videos as a hobby and not a career. Occasionally I have gotten paid for them and the parties have been satisfied with the end product.

Reactivate expired Software updates

We currently had a lot of superseeded updates, which were normally deployed to our clients. We currently patch 3 times a year in our company. The last time was around september. Now the superseeded updates turned to expire, due the Supersedence rule / Superdence
behavior configured in the Software Update Point Component Properties.
Is it possible to reactive / reenable the expired update until we patch our clients again with the newest updates? Currently the expired updates don't get deployed, which i think is normal behavior...

Typically, a software update that supersedes another software update does one or more of the following:
1. Enhances, improves, or adds to the fix provided by one or more previously released updates.
2. Improves the efficiency of its update file package, which is installed on client computers if the update is approved for installation. For example, the superseded update might contain files that are no longer relevant to the fix or to the operating systems
now supported by the new update, so those files are not included in the superseding update's file package.
3. Updates newer versions of a product, or in other words, is no longer applicable to older versions or configurations of a product. Updates can also supersede other updates if modifications have been made to expand language support. For example, a later
revision of a product update for Microsoft Office might remove support for an older operating system, but add additional support for new languages in the initial update release.
You can specify a period of time before superseded software updates are expired, which allows you to continue to deploy them. THe superseded rule can only be configured at central site.

SCCM- How to re-claim expired software updates in SCCM 2007 Sp2

Hi All,
I can see some on the software updates that are showing in "red mark" , but actually when i check the status of updates they are not expired. When i try to download or install those updates they are not getting downloaded SCCM throws an error message
as configuration manager throws an error message. Can anyone share the details on how we can re-claim these software updates.

v10.7.5 is as far as Lion can be updated.
See if your Mac can upgrade to v10.9 Mavericks > OS X Mavericks: System Requirements
Mavericks is free and available from the App Store.

How do I uninstall existing, expired antivirus software on my iMac?

Minor frustrations.
I was talking to a friend. He asked if I had done my taxes. I said I usually wait until the dead line. I asked who does his. He uses TurboTax. It would save me money. I don't know if he has a Mac. I hadn't thought about antivirus software, having been told Macs are not as susceptible to such things. I printed some email the other day and shuddered when at the bottom I saw the words about:blank , that annoying malware that so easily latches on to non-Mac computers. I used the search function on my computer and entered "antiviurs software" and up comes this window from McAfee saying that my subscription to my antivirus subscription was expired. "Renew now for only $14.99 !" it said, so I bought it. I set up my account and clicked "next". Then it tells me to select my product and click "download". I didn't see my software, exactly, and I sure didn't see any "download" to click. So I click "chat online for assistance". The rep says unless I have a new computer, just to reformat the hard drive. Otherwise, uninstall the outdated software first, then download the new one from your account. Everything seems to be running ok, otherwise.
1. I can't find the existing, expired software on my computer.
2. How do I uninstall it?
3. I'd rather not reformat my computer.
Did I throw away $14.99?
Suggestions welcome.

Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead. Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications. Here is a selection:

Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

Some software update deployments are expired

Some software update deployments are expired (gray icon) but some are not. Why is this so? There are no expired software updates in software update group.

Curious: go ahead and search within the group for expired updates. Do they show up in the filter? Or is it a definite display bug?
If that were the case, then all of the deployments for that group would be grey but the screenshot shows only about half are actually grey.
It could be some type of age thing where after 30 days (or something like that) they are shown greyed. That doesn't make much sense paritcularily based upon the dates shown in the screenshot, but I can't see anything else that would cause it.
Note that in my lab most of my older deployments on update groups are also grey but there are no expired updates in the update group deployed so I am seeing the same behavior.

Expired Updates Question

Hey all my awesome homies!
I have a quick question. Now let's say that I sync'ed my software updates on Patch Tuesday and I deployed them on that day, and then, let's say that on Thursday or Friday, just a couple or few days later after Patch Tuesday, I decide to run a Synchronization
again, and I see that one of the updates that I deployed has been Expired by Microsoft. Does that mean that those clients that are configured for Manual install (set for Available not Required) where the patches are sitting in Software Center where the update
binaries are in the cache will NOT install that particular Expired patch, or it will since the binary has already been downloaded and tossed in the ccmcache on the client prior the update being expired?

Expired userPassword question

We are migrating from an older directory setup to 5.2 from 2005Q1. We developed a simple tool to allow a user to change their password. This tool binds to the directory as the user to verify the password and then changes the userPassword field with new data. On our current production system a user with an expired password can still change their password. On our new system (JES 2005Q1 with messaging and access manager), a user with an expired password cannot change their password. Is the behavior I see the new default for the directory server? If I can't change it is it best to catch the expired password return code and then bind with a proxy account?

EXPIRED BETA 3, Purple DFU mode screen, and error 1012

Hey this morning my iphone ran out of batteries i plugged it in and it came on with the plug into itunes symbols. so i plug it in and itunes tells me im running expired software and i need to update, so i download the beta 5 from the portal and try a restore and every time i try it i get error 1012 and my phone is stuck in purple dfu mode screen.
Anyone that could help me get my phone back alive would be much appreciated.

Converting 23.976 ProRes to PAL 25fps.

I need to convert some 23.98HD ProRes to PAL SD.
I tried using Graeme Nattress' conversion software, but I find that there is a slight stutter where his software creates an extra frame - the 25th frame. He advised me to use Cinema Tools to create a file which runs 4% faster via the "conform" option.
However, I have no idea how to do this and can't find anything helpful in the manual.
Can anyone give me guidance, some sort of workflow or a page in the manual - in short, anything to assist me?

So, once I have conformed and it is 25fps, then I convert to PAL, right?
But won't the conversion to PAL, either through FCP or through Nattress Conversion add the 25th double frame, or maybe there's an option for fixing that.

OS Mountain Lion and Finder Error -600

In the past week my system seems to have become slow. I get many "beach balls" especially when using MS Outlook 2011 and I have not installed any new software in over 90 days, except Software Updates via the App Store.
This new issue I believe is Finder related. If I try to open my "Documents" folder from the Dock, I get the error "The application "Finder" can't be opened. -600". This also prevents me from opening DropBox from my toolbar. However, if I click on the actual folders in my Home folder, they open just fine.
I have tried the usual: fixed permissions, restarted, used Onyx without help. Next I downloaded the 10.8.2 Combo Updater and ran it. This seemed to fix everything. However, 2 days later, the same issues are back.
I see from old forum posts that this is a "process issue" usually related to expired software, but this error is for the Finder.
Thoughts? Ideas?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

Logic Express 7.2 don't start, always hangs!

Logic Express 7.2 and the newest GarageBand is not working with my dual 2.7 G5. Even after the migration from my dual 2.5 G5 to this computer, these apps are not running. Before on my dual 2.5 G5 I also had no luck to get these apps to work. Restart won't help, now I quit every application and always tried to start these apps, because I thought of an application conflict. But this doesn't help. Next I treid the steps provided by some users here in the forum - like deleting plist, dupliate loops and index folders. Nothing worked. Seems the apps always hang at the CoreAudio init. Someone have a advice for me?

I had the same problem. You have an expired software synth, demo software, unsupported VST or AU or something that is causing Core Audio to not load. The offending file should be in library/application support/logic - clear out REX Shared Library, Rewire, or any third party, i.e. Native Instruments etc. software support files.
I'm not sure what was causing the hang for me as I removed a bunch of this stuff at the same time but Logic and Garageband came back after some spring cleaning.
Be patient and thorough and you'll figure it out.

DVX100 24p advanced, or not?

I shot several tapes in 24p advanced mode using a dvx100 and imported all of them into FCP using 2:3:3:2 advanced pulldown. When I began editing them into the timeline, all clips needed rendering. What did I do? I tried using the "Remove Advanced Pulldown" tool but FCP did not detect any pulldown needed in these clips. However, these same clips being edited into a normal 48khz timeline don't need any rendering. Please help!

What that means is that it still captures it as 24P, but doesn't pass on the flags necessary for FCP to detect and remove the pulldown. I think Graeme Nattress makes software that will remove 24PA pulldown without the flags, but I am not certain...

Can't do ANYTHING...HELP ASAP!!

My son just got this eMac from a program through his school. I can't do much on there to even set it up for him because I need the Administrator login name and password! Does anyone know any way I can override this or get around it so I can set up internet and even change the time setting?!?! I would like to make myself the "Administrator" since my son is only 12...is there ANY way I can do this? Apparently the people who gave us the computer aren't around to help me!

I agree with the actions, but not the reasoning.
Any second hand Mac you acquire, it will be best to do a clean instal of the OS, not because there could be security issues etc, but just simply because you don't know when it last had a clean instal, what un-required-by-yourself software may be installed on it, potentially slowing it down, etc etc etc.
A clean instal gives you a clean start, without any unknown hassles.
EG I helped my parents buy an iMac off eBay a while ago. As I was live 3000km away, I wasn't able to do a clean instal for them. Each time they booted it, the computer kept asking them to buy some expired software that the previous owner had installed. This went on for over a year before I was able to get down there and clean it up. The computer also had issues printing, possibly from some other print software that was installed.
Coming from a school, it would be more likely to have increased network security, rather than "holes" in it... but again, this may not be something you need or want.
If it doesn't have the "eMac Restore" DVD or CD, then get on eBay and buy Tiger/find it in the bargain bin at a Apple reseller, and instal it fresh.

Adobe Acrobat 9proを使用しています。PDFをファイルを開くことができません。Acrobat 9proのアイコンから開くでPDFファイルを開こうとしたところ体験版の期限が切れたと表示され、software setup画面が表示されたり、強制終了にしてしまいます。（シリアル番号は登録済みです。）一度アンインストールし、再度インストールしましたが状況は変わりませんでした。何か解決策をご存知の方は教えてください。宜しくお願いいたします。
