Need access levels to access database

hi ,
i am doing project with jsp in ms-access database. this webapplication should be accessible to 10 people. all should be view the data but levels should be there.how can i get the access levels to the database like reading access to some 2 people. writing and modifying access to some 5 people.inserting can be done by other 2 people . please give the solution for this. i have netbeans4.1 ide , and tomcat bundled server.
so, kindly give the jsp code and msaccess solution.
thanks .

I am not informed if the ms-access DB supports SQL-92. In that case you should be able to define the users and set the rules using GRANT sql command. So it is more or less an off topic entry here for a java forum.
Else if you try to implement the authoization business logic out of your DB domain in java (or C or whatever), it is no more coupled with the DB and most likely that is not what you are supposed to deliver.

Certainly it is unusual that you can still see the tables available in your MS Access database but cannot see the columns? I am assuming you are configuring an Open Statement step and are trying to use the ring-control to select columns from your table?
Can you tell me more about the changes you made to your file when you 'changed' it with MS Access? What version of Access are you using? What happens if you try and manually type in an 'Open Statement Dialog's SQL string such as...
    "SELECT UUT_RESULT.TEST_SOCKET_INDEX, UUT_RESULT.UUT_STATUS, UUT_RESULT.START_DATE_TIME FROM UUT_RESULT"
Is it able to find the columns even if it can't display them? I am worried that maybe you are using a version of MS Access that is too new for the version of TestSt
and you are running. Has anything else changed aside from the file you are editing?

  • I can insert data into an access database, but I need to querry the database for specific information. How do I do it?

I can insert data into an access database, now I need to do some simple querries such as selecting all records that are greater than a certain value or = a certain value. How can I return only the selected records?

If you don't want to spend any money, then instead of ActiveX, I would recomend LabSQL from Jeffrey Travis. I use it instead of the Connectivity toolkit and have had no problems. Besides being free, you have the advantage of being able to use it with any database. ActiveX ties you to Access and you upgrade your version of Access and find the properties and methods are different, you've got a lot of reprogramming to do.

    Hello,
I am trying to use the data drop-down list from the custom library. I enter the name of my data connection and the other 2 variables in quotes when they are initialized, just like the example says to, but it still doesn't work. Anyone have any thoughts?
    Thanks,

I am having trouble (sleepless nights) with populating a drop-down list from an Access Database. The result is: I only get the first record from the data connection. So the connection works but I cannot go through the other records. Maybe there is an other way to do this.
I am trying to selectively fill a form with data from an MS-access database.
I hope someone can help me.

If you email the access DB and the form to [email protected], I will try to take a look at it for you.

  • Need to archive Oracle data into MS Access database

    Gurus,
I've been tasked with archiving several large tables (10 million records) into an MS Access database. I'm looking through MS Access help guide which states that I can use the ODBC driver to create table, column definitions, and import data.
Does anyone have any good resources on creating an ODBC driver for MS Access. Also, any reference material would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Using the worst database product (I can't even really refer to it as an RDBMS) on the planet to archive data that is already in the best RDBMS on the planet?
What does the person who came up with this idea expect to achieve?
I'm looking through MS Access help guide which states that I can use the ODBC driver to create table, column definitions, and import data. ODBC drivers don't create anything. They provide a common link between ODBC enabled apps and the native db interface.

Does anyone have any good resources on creating an ODBC driver for MS Access. You don't create the driver. It is provided by either MS or Oracle (they both have them). You just configure a connection definition (aka "Data Source Name" or DSN) that utilizes it.
Also, any reference material would be greatly appreciated.

  • Why is the Microsoft Office Access Database Engine data source looking for a workgroup information file?

While trying to import to MSSQL2012 from SSDT using the wizard from an Access 2013 DB (.accdb) which is password protected, I get the following error with the username blank and the password field correctly populated:
Cannot start your application. The workgroup information file is missing or opened exclusively by another user. (MicrosoftOffice Access Database Engine)
    But according to this link:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/access-help/what-happened-to-user-level-security-HA010342116.aspx
MSA10 and beyond shouldn't need workgroup information files, although it's not clear to me if they are
    created/used or not.
I can point the wizard to some local version of system.mdw at Advanced -> All -> Jet OLEDB:System Database, and then the error becomes:
Not a valid account name or password. (Microsoft Office Access Database Engine)
for any username I can think of.
    Questions:
    1.  Why does this data source insist on looking for a workgroup information file even though user-level security should be disabled?
    2.  Why does the Open dialog box for the Microsoft Access Database Engine have *.mdb as the only selectable filetype?
    3.  How can I get around these errors for an .accdb that is password protected?
    Thanks!

    Hi JordanPG,
To connect to Access 2007 or later database, we need the Microsoft ACE 12.0 OLE DB driver. SQL Server only installs the Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB driver which can be used to connect to Access 2003 or earlier database. Besides, the Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB
driver only has 32-bit version, but the Microsoft ACE 12.0 OLE DB driver has both 32-bit and 64-bit version. However, the 32-bit and 64-bit Microsoft ACE 12.0 OLE DB drivers cannot be installed on a single server.
According to your description, you can use the 64-bit SQL Server Import and Export Wizard to load data from the Access database, so the 64-bit Microsoft ACE 12.0 OLE DB driver is installed on your computer. Since the BIDS/SSDT is a 32-bit application, the
64-bit Microsoft ACE 12.0 OLE DB Provider is not visible in BIDS/SSDT. So, when you said that you select “Microsoft Access (Microsoft Access Database Engine)" in the SQL Server Import and Export Wizard (it is actually the 32-bit version) started by the SSDT,
I think it should be “Microsoft Access (Microsoft Jet Database Engine)”. Because the Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB driver only supports Access 2003 or earlier format, it threw the error “Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. Unrecognized
    database format 'C:\myDB.accdb'”.
In this situation, you have two approaches to avoid this issue:
Launch the SQL Server Import and Export Wizard (64-bit), and select “Save SSIS Package” to “File System” on the “Save and Run Package” page. Then, the package will be saved to a specified directory. After that, you can add this existing package to a SSIS
project. The status of the corresponding OLE DB Connection Manager should be Work Offline, or the OLE DB Source will throw an error about 32-bit driver if the Connection Manager is not in Work Offline status, you can ignore that and the package can run successfully
in SSDT as long as the project is set to run in 64-bit runtime mode.
However, for the SSDT 2012 integrated with Visual Studio 2012, the 64-bit runtime mode is disabled. In this situation, to run the package in SSDT, you have to uninstall the 64-bit Microsoft ACE 12.0 OLE DB drivers and install the 32-bit one. Here is the

  • Linking to an Access Database (accdb) - calculated field in query

Using Crystal Report v 14 we have a problem linking to an Access 2010 database (accdb file format).
We created a query in the Access database with a calculated field that we want to use to link with Great Pllains database. We can see the query using the database expert and the OLEDB (ADO) data source. The problem is that the calculated field in the Access query does not show in the link manager.
What is the best wat to link an Access table that has a job number containing hyphens (111-222-333) with the other database that has the job number stored without hyphens (111222333)? Why does our query solution not work?

    Hi,
I'm not sure if this can be handled at the Database query level, however this can surely be handled from the report level.
You would need to insert a subreport with Great Pllains as its datasource. The Main report's data source would be the access table.
Next, in the Main report you would need to create a formula to remove the hyphens from the string and convert it back to number. Use this formula:
    tonumber(replace(,"-",""));
You can then palce this formula in the details section/group section (which ever is applicable) and then link the subreports's job number field with this formula field. A record selection formula is automatically added in the subreport when you do so.
Also, make sure the sub-report is place in the same section this formula field is placed in, otherwise you can get unexpected results.
    Hope this helps!

  • Insurance / medical devices data with Access database

I have to find managing solution for 2 Israeli companies which need customer relationship relations and projects solution like Oracle RDBMS - plus for specialized data comes from a professional applications (one for insurance and other for medical devices data).
If ORACLE will manage all business data it will be well, but additionally ORACLE will have to manage Access DB comes from the software for insurance from company named IDIT, and other medical devices data from medical solutions from "Hadasit" (Hadassah Hospital and "Hebrew University")
Oracle RDBMS would handle well the Access database?

    Hi Saurabh,
While posting a query, make sure that you provide all required info. i.e. CR version with SP level, VS version etc.
providing detailed environmment info would help you get faster responses.

  • Query 32 bit Access Database from 64 bit Sql Server

    Hi All,
I have a task to query the Accessdb from Sql Server and below are the configuration details:
OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise( 64 bit)
Sql Server: Sql Server 2012 enterprise (64 Bit)
    Access : MS Office 2010 (32 bit)
I used the below queries to reap the data from access db.
SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET('Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0','D:\Product.accdb', Product) AS Product
    (or)
SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET('MICROSOFT.ACE.OLEDB.12.0','D:\PRODUCT.ACCDB', PRODUCT) AS PRODUCT
following error returnd from both queries.
Error: "Msg 7438, Level 16, State 1, Line 2.    The
32-bit OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" cannot be loaded in-process on a 64-bit SQL Server."
    Please help.
    Ram MSBI Developer

not sure if anyone is watching this thread anymore but i have this scenario. i am using the excel connection manager in SSIS to create an excel spreadsheet with VS 2012.  To do this from what I have read I am required to use the 32-bit driver for "Microsoft
Access database engine 2007", if I use the 64-bit driver I cannot connect to the Excel connection manager.   i get 0xc020801c message.
i can install the 32-bit "Microsoft Access database engine 2007" and resolve this problem.  but i also have a stored procedure that creates a spreadsheet (i use this because i have to leave some cells intact), it appears to require the
64-bit "Microsoft Access database engine 2007".  in 32-bit mode i get the following message
    Msg 7438, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_CreateGRfile, Line 26
The 32-bit OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" cannot be loaded in-process on a 64-bit SQL Server.
so i need both the 32-bit  "Microsoft Access database engine 2007" and 64-bit  "Microsoft Access database engine 2007".
any thoughts on getting around this issue?

According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you published Access database to SharePoint 2013.
Please deactivate SharePoint Server Enterprise Site Collection features at site collection level and deactivate SharePoint Server Enterprise Site features at site level, then activate them again, compare the result.
Per the error message, please type a value in the ‘Name’ filed, then publish the table, compare the result.
