Need of Business Systems?

Hi Experts,
Is it really need of Business systems for doing IDOC scenarios?
Why not technical systems to use directly(ie., if only one R/3 system having the client)?
Does my question is having sense???
Regards,
YRaj.

Hi Raj,
We create Business system to Technical system and assign it to our Scenario. If there is some changes there in the technical system like we are going to use some other client of the technical system in future it is sufficient to change the Bussiness sytem to point to the new technical system. There is no necessity of changing the scenario itself. This is the reason of using the Business systems in the Scenarios.

  • Business Systems and Related Integration Servers

    Each Standalone Business System has a corresponding Related Integration Server.
    Suppose I am Developing a scenario for a Business System in the development environment, I have a related XI Development Integration Server (call it XD1) then I want to transport the changes to the test environment. Since this business system is defined to only point to XD1 as the integration server, in the test environment I want it to use the Test Integration Server (call it XD2). But the Business SYstem is pointing to XD1 only!
    What I am saying is: Given that one Business System only points to one Integration Server, do I need one Business System for Development (call it BS_DEV), and one for test (call it BS_TST)?
    Kind Regards,
    Tony.

    If you have only 1 sld and you want to move the XI objects from development(XIDEV) to Quality(XIQA).
    you will have to define the 2 business system groups and the related transport targets in the SLD..
    1st transport group XIDEV    --
    BS_DEV will have XIDEV as the integration server.
    2nd transport group XIQA  --
    BS_QA will have XIQA as the integration server.
    So you will have to name the business system differently as DEV and QA

    hi,
    in case you want to connect to any database system, the JDBC adapter is used.When you want to read or insert/update data into database you should use the jdbc adapter . Also when you want to do the lookup into data base table from UDF( user defined function) you should use jdbc adapter .
    For mode details on jdbc adapter refer the following link .

  • Fetching the business system name during graphical mapping

    Hi,
    After the receiver determination is done and in interface determination, while executing the interface mapping, i need the business system name for which the
    mapping is under progress. This i need during mapping.
    Also, i need the configuration scenario name during mapping.
    Is there any XI internal variable/system variables which hold these values so that using user defined function they can be accessed and used in graphical mapping ?
    In appreciate your input in this regard.
    Regards
    Ganesh

    Hi,
      For the configuration name you can map it with a constant and for the sender,receiver services and interfaces you nee to use the UDF as one mentioned below.
    Imports   com.racs.gpt.*;
    public String getMapValue(String a,String b,Container container)
    //String a denotes incoming data string |data1|data2|data3|...|dataN.
    //String b = lookupID.
    //container contains runtime parameters.
    AbstractTrace trace;
    String headerField;
    java.util.Map map;
    String  result;
    trace = container.getTrace();
    // get constant map
    map = container.getTransformationParameters();
    CrossReferenceAPI maprule1 = new CrossReferenceAPI();
    result  =   maprule1.getData(a,b,map);
    trace.addWarning("result = " + result);
    if (result.equals("$NULL$"))
    trace.addWarning("XREF Error.  Mapped data for " + a + " not found");
    ErrorHandler errHandler = new ErrorHandler();
    int lookupID = Integer.parseInt(b);
    errHandler.logSQLError(map, lookupID, a, "");
    result = "?";
    return result;

    Do I need to enter Pipeline URL  under Integration under Business System in SLD?
    I don't have anything right now? Shouldn't this entry be automatic?Why I need to enter manually if I need to at all?
    Please help!
    Thanks
    Bob

    Do I need to enter Pipeline URL under Integration under Business System in SLD?
    --> yes, we shd provide this in SLD.
    I don't have anything right now?
    --> http://<ur server>/sap/xi/engine?type=entry
           give your server at <ur server>
    Shouldn't this entry be automatic?
    -->it shd be entered in SLD once.
    Why I need to enter manually if I need to at all?
    --> if you configure it in SLD once then there is no need for you to do it again.
         By giving this URL yoou are connecting your adapter engine to Integration engine. once your adapter picks the message, it will check the BS and based on the configuration of BS it will push the message.
    some times we can configure our adapter engine as a stand alone system with out IE or with different IE's, that is the reason SAP allows us to configure it.

  • Business system/service Service without party: info needed

    Hi,
    I am a newbie in XI world. I have a scenario of interfacing a 3rd party system to R/3 via XI. This system will dump a file to XI which needs to be converted to IDOC for R/3 use and later an outbound interface should send some data in a file format to this 3rd party system.
    As per various blogs, I have managed to define business system and basid IR config. Since this a 2 way asyncronous interface,  I wanted to know
    1> In XI, do I need to create a separate Buss System for 3rd Party sender interface( legacy->XI->R/3)
    and a new Buss system for 3rd party Receiver interface.(R/3->Xi>Legacy). However in R/3 should I can create only one and assign the inbound/outbound IDOC partner profiles. ( But do the names of legacy systems in R/3 and XI have to be same)
    2> What is the difference between Party and Service without Party( I saw these in ID). Do I need to define party for my interface scenario. If yes, How?
    3> For testing, I wanted XI to pick files from my desktop and then post to R/3. As per various sdn threads, I realise, I need to give the IP of my PC and use Service without party. Since I am new in this area, I do not know how to define this serv-without party for my scenario. Any blogs or threads which define this would be very helpful.
    Appreciate your help and time.
    Helpful answers will be rewarded.
    Thanks and regards
    Shirin

    Hi Shirin,
    For 3rd party sysytems u can directly configure in ID under bussiness service
    we will choose service without party when we are having A2A communication.
    A2A means application to application communication, it is used when two systems in same landscape try to communicate with each other. Systems in same landscape means both the systems are belongs to same organization or a company.
    Normally in A2A communication sender and receiver is inside one organization and developer have freedom to define communication rules .
    refers to link
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/66/58934257a5c96ae10000000a155106/content.htm
    we will choose service withparty when we are having B2B communication
    B2B means Business to Business communication .It is used when there is exchange of information between two different Parties or companies or landscape.
    When two applications in different companies communicates with each other we call it B2B Communication.
    in case of B2B every party has it own rules which must be followed if we want to communicate between different organization.
    refers to link
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2004/helpdata/en/ca/efb540efe68631e10000000a1550b0/content.htm
    communication party (party for short) represents a larger unit, which is involved in a collaborative process. Using a communication party, you generally address a company within a cross-company process.That means we use party only when we r using B2B communcation.for example communication of two diffrent organization who r having different landscape.
    The matter of Party comes only when there are number of partners included in the environment. Thats usually happens in B2B systems. The services without party usually happens in normal A2A systems; were normal applications handle the message processing between systems and no multiple partners are interested in same data that are been handled.

    Business System : It is registered in SLD,We should have all the technical details to use
    it, A business system is something that physicallu exists. generally for R/3 applications
    we use this one.
    Business Service : When we don't have all the technical details then we use the business
    service, it is mostly used for B2B scenarios.
    In ID objects tab in Business service is there, there right click and create the new business service, and fill the details like interface,...
    BUSINESS SERVICE CREATION STEPS:
    You can create the Business Service in ID itself.It is an abstract unit and it will act as Business System while exchanging the messages.In ID goto Service Without Party>Choose Business Service>Right Click and say as New>Give Servie Name as your Naming Conventions and choose u r configuration Scenario to adding the same> click on create>It will create the service and u can edit the service>u can find the tabs Receiver,Sender and etc--> Add ur Inbound/Outbound interfaces and corresponding Communication channels.

  • Do i need a new SWCV and a business system

    Hi Friends
    Do i need a new SWCV and Business suystem for every scenario .
    Let us say i created one file to iDOC scenario with the same sender and same target system
    and now for the same Sender and Reciever i want to create one more scenario which is again a file to idoc
    So for this do i have to do all the stuff in SLD again.
    Thanks

    No you need not create a new technical and business system. You can use the existing technical and business system defined for the same source and target system. You just need to go to the "Objects" tab in ID and add the business system to your scenario.
    As far as technical and business sytem info:
    SLD is based on the CIM model ( Common Information model)
    this model clasiifies the system in terms of SWC, Product, TS, BS to list down....
    TS--> Technical details of the system likeserver name, IP etc....it mostly identifies the system with it's technically ( this gives option to change the TS in future suupose you change the server or its configuration etc)
    BS---> represents the BS usuage identity suppose youa re using the SAP r/3 clnt 100 is sued for develoment activity 200 for QA here the R/3 palys the TS system and 100 200 plays int he Business system....for that particular business wht'a the role of this system......
    Do award points if you feel your query is answered.
    Thanx

  • Logical System Name Not appearing in the Business System

    Hi,
    Initially we had created a Technical system with Client 700 without a "Logical System Name" in SLD. hence the 'logical system name' in 'business system' was also Blank.
    Now, since we are implementing the IDOC to file scenario; we need to maintain the "Logical System Name" in the client and which in turn should reflect in our Business System in SLD.
    Though we maintained the Logical System Name in the Technical System --> Client --> Logical System Name; we are unable to see the same(Logical System Name) in Business System ('Integration' tab)
    Please also note that Business System is of the ROLE: Integration server.
    When we go to business system in SLD ---Integrtaion tab ---Logical System Name -- is still blank.
    Can anyone please help us to update the 'Logical system name' in Business System in SLD?
    Regards,
    Rehan

    Hi Sunil,
    I followed your link till
    Bussiness System -> select your bussiness System -> in Below pane u will find Details of your bussiness system ->amongs the various tabs available select Integration Tab->U will See option for technical system beside that u will see option for change ->click this ->u will be taken to Logical system ->there u define u r logical syatem name and then save the entries.
    When I clicked the option chnage ---> "Change Associated Technical System" appeared, It didn't take me to Logical system.
    But in turn I clicked hyperlink corresponding to Technical systems, it took me to technical system --> clients tab --I have entered the Logical system name.
    When I go back to Business system again its not showing the Logical system name in Integration tab.

  • Technical systems and Business systems in SAP XI

    can any one tell me ,breifly explain the  diff b/w <b>Technical Systems</b> & Business Systems?
    steps to create Techincal system and Business systems?
    and also Steps for creating Software Components? For Technical System we can create more than one Business systems ,what it means?can any one explain?

    Hi
    First I let u know with analogy and actual definition as below
    Any module of SAP like MM, SRM, FICO ets makes a logical system in combination according to business requirements is a business system which is actualy hosted on an application server like ABAP AS or Java AS which is basically a technical system.
    Technical systems are application systems that are installed in system landscape (a CRM server, for example). Most systems (Web AS ABAP and Web AS Java systems) automatically report information to the SLD about the elements that they contain by using the SLD data supplier programs. You need to manually register the following types of system only:
    Standalone Java systems
    Third-party systems
    Business systems are logical senders or receivers that exchange messages by using SAP XI and that are entered in the System Landscape Directory.
    The business systems in the System Landscape Directory relate to a system landscape.
    The business systems of business partners are not entered in the System Landscape Directory. To be able to address such business partners logically, use services in the Integration Directory. A business system is a way of specifying a service in the Integration Directory more precisely (business system service).

  • Setting Business Systems in SLD

    Hi,
    In our SLD, we have two different Business Systems associated with the same ABAP Technical System and same client too. One BS is related to one Integration Server (XI) -this BS was imported in SLD- whereas another BS is related to another one (PI).
    When we run a soap interface in XI, we see the request reaches the correct BS (XI BS). However, the response is sent by the PI BS through the XI interface, getting an error.
    We need to have both Business Systems due to we are using the same SLD for XI and PI.
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance,
    Samantha.

    Hi Luqman,
    Their names are different. Each BS is related to a different Integration Server, but their ABAP TS and client are equal.
    XI interfaces should use the XI BS, whereas PI interfaces should the PI BS, but this is not so.
    Is there any option that selects by default a particular BS in SLD when both BS using the same TS?
    Thanks,
    Samantha.

  • Can there be more than one transport targets for a business system in sld

    Hi All,
    I have a question about transport targets in sld for sap xi 3.0 sp19.
    We have a requirement where a business system needs to have two transport targets.In SLD i see that only one transport target can be assigned. Is there any way to assign more than one transport target to a business system?
    I know that there can be more than one source for a business system where more than one  different business systems have the same business system as the target.
    I am not sure if a business system can have more than one transport target .If yes , what is the way to add more than one ?
    Please help .
    Thanks,
    Padmaja

    Hello,
    I know that there can be more than one source for a business system where more than one different business systems have the same business system as the target.
    As far as I know, you would have to change the target everytime you will transport it to a different target e.g 3 target systems = 3 times you change the transport target in SLD.

  • Error Message from SLD - "Selected client already has a business system..."

    I have successfully created and test a File to IDOC scenario from a File system to ERP ECC 6.0 (client 101, system name sapdbt02)
    Right now, I creating  another File to IDOC scenario for a different file system to the same ERP ECC 6.0
    At the SLD, I would need to create two new Techncial System and Two new Business System.
    However when I creating a Business system for the ABAP Type for the ERP ECC 6.0, when selected the same client and system name of the first scenario that I have done, I got this error message
    "Selected client already has a business system associated, please select a new client or system"
    I am puzzled that I would need to a configure a new client for the same system ID for another FIle to IDOC scenario
    going to the same ERP system
    Please advise.
    Best Regards
    Freddy Ng

    For example:-
    create business system for R3 system in SLD as suggested by stefan. I assume that u have one R3 system which is either sending or receiving data from XI.
    assign the system to ur scenarios, u can use common IDOC/RFC/XI channel for sending data to R3 system.
    Separate R3 business system is required incase u have to send data to different R3 system.
    If u have different files coming from different File system in that case better to create different business service and use them.
