Need power schematics for a 20" cinema display a1038 (four pronged cord)

need power schematics for a 20" cinema display a1038
missing the power adapter for the cinema display, need to know what the leads are for the power cord.
There is a Edison power cord that plugs into a little square box, then a 4 pronged cord plugs into that box.
I have a 24 volt power supply with the same amps, and want to hook it up to the 4 pronged plug since I don't have the little power supply box. I don't know what each lead is.
The easy answer is to buy the power supply. I bought the cinema display cheap and want to see if its worth buying the little box power supply that costs around 70$ on e-bay. If it works with the 24 volt power supply Ill go ahead and buy the little box.

Hi
If the monitor is a clear acrylic model with three feet (which it seems to be), and your computer is an original AGP Graphics/Sawtooth model, you'll need a DVI to ADC adapter.
You can identify your exact computer model from the following link:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58418
The ADC connector, which the older 20" Cinema Display uses, wasn't introduced until the later Gigabit Ethernet models. Unfortunately a newer graphics card with an ADC port won't work either, as the Sawtooth lacks an extra connector on the logic board required to power the monitor through the ADC cable.
DVI to ADC adapters are fairly expensive as they include an integral power supply to drive the monitor. It may also be worth checking your graphics card supports the resolution of the 20" display (1680 by 1050). In the worst case you may need a new graphics card (with a DVI port) and the adapter.

All you need is an AC prong adapter and, if you can't find what you need on the web, you'll be able to find one in Russia for a small handful of rubles.

John, please refrain from posting your personal email in these threads.  It is not necesary and all communication to you can be done directly in these forums.  Posting your email address can open up you to tons of unwanted spam, among other things.  Really all you can do is search the internet for them.  My suggestion would be to google "case for late 2007 macbook pro".
One will probably be very hard to find for a 6 year old model as it is on the borderline of being considered "vintage".  Ebay may be a good place to try too.

  • This device cannot start. (Code 10) Status Device Power Failure for Intel (R) Audio Display

Hi I just bought HP Envy M7 Sleekbook last week and upgraded from 8.0 to 8.1 for Windows 8.
Now I have no sound and this is the error message I get:
This device cannot start. (Code 10) Status Device Power Failure  (for  Intel (R) Audio Display)
under Sound, Vieo and Game Controllers in the Device Manager.
Anyone else having this issue after upgrading?
Getting a new lappy is stressful enough but to alreay have issues is ridiculous
If the upgrade is not the issue could something have happened in transit? (I have an issue with the way Best Buy packed it for shipment and wonder if it could have been compromised)
Any help is appreciated. Or should Ibe taing this back to best buy and have them address it?
    Thanks
    Pam

Ahmed, if your HP Envy has an Intel processor chances are it will be necessary to download new drivers for both sound and chipset due to compatibility issues with Windows 8.1. After 4-1/2 hours on the phone with various technical agents and a lot of frustration I finally got one who had the knowledge and training to resolve my issue. I believe he downloaded the new drivers from the HP support site. Good luck!!

  • Replacement logic board for my 20" cinema display?

I'm looking for good place online to buy replacement logic board for my 20" cinema display. Any suggestions?

You could ask the Apple store to let you have (or buy) one of the boxes they use to send the displays in for repair. They should have these on hand.

  • Need AppleCare for a 23" Cinema Display

I asked my local Apple dealer how to get AppleCare coverage on a 23" Cinema Display (acrylic) which I bought on eBay some time ago. It has the AppleCare warranty until November, 2006.
He replied: "You need to contact applecare. They dont have parts to repair them so they will offer you a great price on a new monitor."
Is this true? Whom should I contact???
I cannot find any mention of such an offer on the Support section of Apple's website.

  • Power on button or keyboard shortcut for Apple LED Cinema Display

Does anyone know how to power on a MacBook Pro that has the case closed and is connected to the new Apple 24 LED Cinema display?
I know pressing the keyboard will wake it from sleep, but sometimes I have to shut down completely.
I'd like to power up with a keyboard command. Keyboard is the Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad which doesn't have a power on key.

When the computer if off (not just sleeping) there is no power to USB devices, so the keyboard will have no power. Without power, none of the keys can do anything.

  • Apple Support for purchase of AppleCare for Mac Mini / Cinema Display Combo

Below is an email that I recently submitted to Apple for feed back on the support system. I am writing here to find out if anyone might have any ideas about how to address this issue without resorting to a 2 hour wait on the phone (my last experience with Apple support). I have redacted some info with ID's and Case numbers as I know Apple does not actively monitor these forums so it would not make sense for them to be posted.
    Here is the question:
How do others in the Apple community feel about the points that I make in this email? I am curious to know if I am off base in my expectations or if what I am requesting is reasonable?
    Here is the email:
As someone who has spent 15 years as a web professional and has purchased/approved for purchase more than $1 Million dollars in Apple products, I have to say my recent experience with Apple customer service has been incredibly lackluster and almost insulting. Here is the issue that I am trying to resolve (not why I have written this email):
I recently purchased a mac mini and cinema display and in addition purchased apple care for both. I only received confirmation of apple care for the mac mini. Hence I have an issue.
Fail #1) I was asked when trying to register the apple care I purchased at MacAuthority, that I need to upload a receipt. I uploaded said receipt and then waited. Some time later I recieved an email (Jan 21) with with the following information - Case ID: XXXXXXXXXX / AppleCare Registration Number: XXXXXXXXXXXXX / Product Case ID: XXXXXXXXXXX saying my information had been received. I then responded to the email (Jan 21) saying that I did not see an option during the registration for registering both the monitor and the mini. I figured this was based on the registration number and maybe just did not show in the front end. I then waited 7 days to send another email (Jan 28). No response.
I typically spend my evenings taking care of things like this, as I can almost always address them through a couple of emails and it is done. I don't have time to sit on hold during the day waiting for a live person. Especially when I am doing work that ensures I can buy the product of the company I am waiting on hold with. Instead I try to rely on the most efficient method, which most companies have realized is email communication, when it is implemented properly.
Fail #2) Rather than making a call to Apple Support on my dime (during the day), I instead head over the support site thinking that at a minimum I would find a contact support form or an auto ticking email address. Heck maybe I would even be able to look up the case ID. To my surprise, there was no contact form, there was no support email address.
Fail #3) I then started hunting for the next logical step. I saw the link to the Express support and thought - "ah cool, they have a routing system to get my need to the right person/department". Errrrrr - wrong. Although that is what it appeared to be, in the end I was presented with only one option. Call back later. Seriously. SERIOUSLY
Fail #4) Now, after having spent more than 2 hours of my time trying to get this issue resolved, I am still going to forced to talk to someone on the phone. This is so incredibly insane for a modern web business who supposedly is fanatical about their customers!
I surely hope that this changes or my last purchase will be MY LAST PURCHASE. I have had so many experiences in the last 3 years that made me feel like I was inconveniencing "Apple". I am about to give up on the brand. There is a "greedy" feeling that I get when dealing with Apple rather than on of "wonderment"
There are lots of other options that I know provide a better customer experience. Why would I choose Apple over them? I dropped the iPhone for this reason and went to Android after having multiple issues with a support need that later ended up being a known hardware issue with the iPhone 3G.
I currently own two mac mini's, 1 cinema display, a 17" loaded MBP, a 15" loaded MBP, two airport extremes, an airport express and an iPad. I have spent over $11K with Apple personally in the last 2 years and I cannot get an option to contact someone by email or file a trouble ticket?
I truly hope someone has taken the time to fully read this email, as I cannot imagine that this is the message that Apple wants to send to its customers. If you have read this and can be so kind as to respond, I will gladly give you some other insights about how Apple can better serve its customers. If you can help me with my support issue, even better.
    Jamie

It's not clear to me on what information you were expecting from them. Did you, however, check the status of the coverage here to see if perhaps the coverage was registered correctly?

Apple does not provide support via email (except for the iTunes Store) and never has. Whether or not you wish to consider this a "fail" is your call, but they have always provided support only via the phone except for a short experiment with live chat which I believe they've abandoned.

Seriously. Though I think you misread. The option is available for you to set up a time when they can call _you. Or you can just elect to call later. It's your choice which you select.

    See number 1.
I surely hope that this changes or my last purchase will be MY LAST PURCHASE.
Suit yourself. I very much doubt that Apple will change their policy, since it's been the same for many years. There's nothing anyone here can suggest to change things or address them differently. You'll have to talk with them on the phone if the registration didn't go through as expected. Again, you can set up a time when they will call you so as to avoid waiting on hold.
    Regards.

  • Analogue input for 30 inch Cinema Display?

    Hi there,
I'm looking at getting a 30 inch Cinema Display and just wondered if there was a way to connect analogue sources (such as an xbox 360 for example) to the display. I guess what would be needed is a female DVI -> female AUX adaptor but I'm not sure if such a thing exists or if it would work the way I think?
If not, do you have any recommendations for good 30 inch displays that do have analogue inputs?
    Thanks very much
    Sam

The Apple display requires digital input. Dell has a 30" with analog and digital inputs

  • Where can I find a replacement box/packaging for my 23" Cinema Display?

    Hello all,
I'm a freelancer and I travel quite a bit with my Powerbook. I often have to ship my 23" Cinema Display to various states. I had a pipe burst in my basement completely ruining the box a few days ago. I've contacted Apple and no one I talked to was able to direct me to someone who could help. I'm going to try the Apple Store in my area. I'm very uncomfortable shipping the unit in any other packaging. Is there some place on-line where I could buy a new box? Any help given would be greatly appreciated!

  • Cable extension for 24" Apple Cinema Display

Hi, Anyone have issues with Dr Botts Extension cable for the 24" Apple Cinema Display? Thanks

It is around two feet long. I would not have a problem with this if I could extend it or Apple had adopted the standard cable with female connector on the display so I could purchase a longer cable. Apple has a long history of slipping into proprietary solutions that are often good (e.g., magsafe on MacBook) but tend to cramp ones ability to come up with solutions they have not thought of.
There are a growing number of m-m cables that would work from various vendors like Belkin, but I have found no extenders from Apple or any other vendor.
As to the monitor itself, I LOVE it. I am sure there will be a solution eventually. I have the new Mac Pro and monitor on the kitchen counter. Not sure how long my wife's patience will last.

I want Power amp for my i pad. IF any one know please let me know

If you are for better sound from your iPad, there are a myriad of portable devices that your iPad can be connected to to increase the iPad's sound levels.
Search for iPad speakers, speaker systems, or audio for iPad.
If you want to connect your iPad's audio to some sort of stereo or surround sound power amplifier that has to be connected to a larger pair of audio speakers, any on the market will work. You need to purchase a cable that connects to the iPad's headphone jack that splits the stereo signal to left and right channels that can be plugged into the left and right channels of the audio amplifier.

  • LED-alternative for 24-inch cinema display?

With my month-old Mac Pro 8-core, I cannot use a 24-inch LED Cinema Display, because the Mac does not have a mini display port. No matter how much I would like to buy the LED-display, I'm not willing to invest an extra 315,- euro's to get a new (noisier) graphics card with mini display port to replace my GeForce 8800GT. Does anyone know a good LED-replacement for the 24-inch Apple display? It has to be an IPS-type panel, not TN.

    Hello, Ertjie.
The link titled Download the 24-inch LED Cinema Display Update from the kb/TS4045 article worked for me when I tried it today.  Click the "Download" link I post here or try the one in the kb article again.  Perhaps it will work for you now?
However, I note that the kb article expressly states that this firmware update:
...is only intended for use with and will only install on the Apple 24-inch LED Cinema Display while the display is connected to a Thunderbolt-enabled Mac. (EZ Jim emphasis added)
If your Mac is really using Mac OS X (10.6.8)  as shown in your initial topic posting, your Mac may not be Thunderbolt-enabled.   If so, contact Apple or your Apple-Authorized Service Provider for help.
