Need to RMA my 7900gt

So I've been putting up with on and off artifacting on my MSI 7900gt for around 6-8 months now, however the card has basically become unusable, with colored and misspelled text on boot screen, huge colored shapes, flashing and colored specs on the desktop and huge amounts of random extrusions in games.
I've decided to RMA my card, after using my onboard video (6100) which functions fine, and after trying the 7900gt in another computer and instantly getting the same results. I left my computer off for over 24 hours and on boot up I received the same issues. I've been researching the card for quite a while now and have come up with countless sightings of basically the same issues I have. I want to RMA my card, however when I go to the Australian (my location) RMA section, http://rma.msi.com.tw/rma/login.aspx , it ask me for a "Login ID" and password. I did a search on the forums, tried my forum user name and nothing.
So whats up? Did I miss a really straight forward instruction? Should I try going through customer support? Also how does the RMA process occur, do I simply mail the card in its box to MSI with the issued RMA number? I'm quite disappointed with the way in which the card has degraded (not to the error of MSI, but nVidia) and really would like to get the card replaced in the quickest amount of time possible.
Thanks for anyone who can be bothered to help and again, I'm sorry if I missed some straight foward instructions but I'm fed up with trying every possible solution to fix my card and the last thing I feel like is being stumped by my last remaining option to RMA my card.

  • Do I need another RMA? N560GTX Ti Twin Frozr II/OC

    Hey folks. Hi Svet.
Question: So, uh, is there something wrong with 560 GTX Ti based cards?!
I bought the card in February. It went flaky and was RMA'd in June.
    Thread here: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=149374.msg1109239#msg1109239
They sent me someone elses' repaired card, or a new card, but it hasn't lasted even 5 months of near zero use! I put in the replacement, and it seemed to work fine; ran all benchmarks and tests when I first installed it. And never gave it another thought.
I haven't had much need for 3D or gaming, I certainly haven't had time to game all summer. I mostly web browse and photo edit, and for that it's working fine. I'm mostly in linux and the only OpenGL work I do is rendering/modelling in Blender. In case you don't know, consumer 3D like 3D Vision doesn't work under linux.
Fast forward to today. Some family were over, the kids wanted to play with the cool 3D glasses, so I fire up Win7x64 and an OLD game (TOB: HL2 & Portal) and it looks horrible!
The white "fire flies" are everywhere, it looks kind of like a sports stadium filled with camera flashes going off. The textures are not only tearing, but the colors are freaky (mostly primary colors - white, magenta, blue) and tons of flickering. The textures are flickering individually. 3D or non-3D it's the same. You can still play, but of course you can't see. And eventually, it locks, and you have to reboot.
Trying to run Kombustor at just 1280x720 results in garbled video and finally the app crashes or hangs. The "furry" text is all interconnected, like there's extra faces or something.
The card has never been overclocked (beyond factory OC)... 880/1760/2100 MHz. Re: temps, in 2D it's always around 34C (and it never gets over 54C before crashing.)
The system is stable and runs just fine, until you throw something graphically-intensive at it, like gaming. Then the card goes boom.
This is with the 285.62 driver, I've also tried the 280.26 from the MSI site with the same results.
I'm pretty sure this is a hardware issue, the reason I'm posting before RMAing is, what should I do here? I do NOT want to RMA this thing just to have it die again. I want a stable system, period. The card should last indefinitely, at least until it's so old no one would bother using it! And with solid caps replacing that first-to-fail point of electrolytics, this should be easily attainable! I know MSI won't ever say if there's a design flaw with the chip nor the card, but you guys are another story. Could I, for example, get an RMA unit and then flash it so it will be a slower, ordinary 560GTX? Obviously I could, what I mean is, would this make the card survive longer? I'll take stable over speed any day of the week.
As you can imagine, I'm frustrated. And POOR, which makes matters worse - I can't swap it out even if I wanted to.
Well, thanks for reading. Any help appreciated.

I use AB profile overclocked to 938 (core) and 2205 (memory) with voltage at 1.012

  • GTX 470 Twin Frozr II fan bearing failing, need to RMA but don't have receipt

Hi all, I live in the UK and one of the fans in my GTX470 TFII has started to make an annoying grinding sound which comes and goes. Seems like a dodgy bearing, apparently this is common with Twin Frozr cards. Can't seem to find a replacement fan online anywhere (model is Power Logic PLD08010S12HH I think).
Anyway so it looks like I have to RMA the card. However apparently the RMA has to be done through the reseller as I'm in the UK. This is a problem as I bought this over a year ago and don't have any receipt for it, I can't even remember where I bought it from. How would I go about RMAing this card?

over a year probably means re-teller warranty is expired so it would need to go to straight to msi.
the shop you got it from would have your details just give them name address - last 4 digits of credit card and they'll be able to find you.

or similar to start an MSI RMA
it will take time so hope you have a card to use in the mean time. I had to go back to integrated when I did my RMA. - not even able to full screen youtube.

  • KILLER E2200 Gigabit issue. Do i need to RMA?

So i have just bought a new motherboard and processor (see specs below) and am getting a constant problem. These 2 items were brand new and my had no issue with my old motherboard.
    The issue:
Unidentified Network - As you can see from the images, i am constantly getting no internet connectivity even thought the cable has been detected.
    The Facts:
    - I know its nothing to do with my local network as my laptop connect to the internet with no trouble.
    - I have tried both, the default drivers/software off the disk, and the latest drivers/software off the msi website. I have also tried the standalone drivers without the software that have been provided on this website.
    - I have tried to use the auto repair feature and that just re-enables the controller with no luck.
    - I have used the killer cleaner and that does nothing either. I'm just left restarting my PC over and over again through a painful install process.
Now I'm left wondering if this is just a faulty motherboard or am i doing something wrong? PLEASE HELP!
Any information i thought you may need i have provided in images below. These are just to give you an idea of whats happening. If you need anything else please just ask
    Computer Specifications:
    OS - Windows 8.1
    CPU - i5 4670k @ 4.3ghz
    Motherboard - Msi z87 G43 GAMING
    Memory - 10gb DDR3
    Graphics Card - Msi r9 280x

I am faced with the exact same problem, my Killer e2200 chip has the latest driver from qualcomm.com (e2200 version 1.1.38.1281 x64 bit), running Windows 8.1 Pro x64 bit.
I am uncertain whether this is normal since I can access internet but trough a connection set up by me.
Probably because of this I do not benefit any killer e2200 features, for example my Killer Network Manager lacks the ''Killer Ethernet'' panel and resets settings I make to default after restart or shutdown.
Here are the ''Networks'' side panel and the ''Killer Network Manager'' with all 4 panels, most of stuff posted by cookeymiceter is identical so will not upload rest of screens to save space:

  • I have constant K8N Neo2 problems advice needed. (long) Update

I need some advice on what my problem might be and if I need to RMA the motherboard or power supply.
I have a new Athlon 64 3500+ processor, MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum BIOS v1.3 motherboard, with 2 512MB DIMMs of Corsair Value Select Memory. I have had and am still having a series of crashes and lock-ups I will list below. FULL SYSTEM SPECS BELOW AT BOTTOM.
I initially installed the motherboard with a SINGLE 120GB hard drive from the old machine and the installed the memory in memory slots 1 & 2 to try dual channel memory mode. I then formatted the C partition and did a clean install of Windows XP Professional with SP2, installed the MSI drivers on the installation CD that came with the motherboard (Nvidia nForce3 Version 5.03 System Drivers, Realtek gigabit ethernet driver, Realtek AC97 audio driver) & the GeForce v66.93 video driver. I then got my first blue screen "MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION" crash, I ignored this crash and rebooted. I shortly got a black screen crash which I also ignored.
I then installed a new 200GB hard drive and a old 120GB so I could transfer the data from the old 120GB to the new 200GB drive. The data transfer went fine. As I was preparing to install some applications I then got my second blue screen "MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION" crash. Suspecting the Corsair Value Select Memory could not handle dual channel I ran Memtest-86 for 2 passes and got NO errors with the memory in dual channel mode, so I left it.
With my data backed up on the 200GB new drive I removed the new 200GB and the second 120GB hard did another clean install of Windows XP Professional with SP2, this time with Nvidia’s nForce3 Version 5.10 system drivers, the Realtek gigabit ethernet driver and Realtek AC97 audio driver  from the motherboard installation CD & the GeForce v66.93 video driver. I downloaded the latest version of Core Center and installed it and got it working. CPU temperatures were showing a low of around 29C, average of about 44C, and spikes at full loads of about 55-57C. I then ran Ghost to back up the boot partition. I installed all my applications, reinstalled the 200GB and 120 GB hard drives moved some data around with no crashes.
I then installed Rome Total War and played for about 2 hours and had one black screen crash after the reboot played for 4 more hours with no problems so I shut down and went to bed.
In the morning I got up started the computer let it run for awhile the CPU temperatures were in the low 30Cs to low 40Cs I tried to copy some files from the D partition to desktop and the screen freezes I waited about 5 min. with no change and no drive light activity so I hit the reset button. Upon reboot I got a ‘no system disk found” error, I went into the BIOS and checked the drive set-ups and boot priority, everything was correct. I tried for a half hour to get the system to boot with on luck. I used the Ghost to restore the partition image I had made earlier and still no boot. I finally decided to reinstall XP again put in the installation CD and when I got to the screen where you decide where to install Windows I changed my mind quit and bingo the machine boots into the restored Ghost partition???? I started to reinstall my applications got one more blue screen"MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION" crash and another screen freeze that I had to reset.
So I decided to start from real scratch I removed the new 200GB and the second 120GB hard drive ran Killdisk on the boot drive, made a new clean 20GB C partition and did another clean install of Windows XP Professional with SP2, this time with Nvidia’s nForce3 Version 5.10 system drivers, the Realtek gigabit ethernet driver and Realtek AC97 audio driver from the motherboard installation CD & the GeForce v66.93 video driver. I installed the latest version of Core Center and installed it and got it working. CPU temps were as before.
I tested the memory with Memtest-86 again 2 passes no errors. Just in case I then moved one of the memory DIMMs to memory slot 3 out of dual channel mode and to a slower speed and ran Memtest-86 for about 20 hours with 21 passes with no memory errors, so I think memory can be ruled out as the problem.
Next I installed my applications I got one screen freeze that I had to reset. I reinstalled the other 200GB and 120GB hard drives. After I got all my applications install and Ghosted the boot partition. I have had one more one screen freeze that I had to reset.
I have a problem I simply cannot figure out. The memory is obliviously fine. While I have seen CPU temperatures spikes as high as 57C the CPU temps as reported by Core Center averages in the high 30Cs or low 40Cs and most of crashes/lock-ups don’t seem to occur during high CPU load/temp. The power supply might be a little light for the system but many of the crashes have occurred with only one hard drive in the system. The fact after one for the lock-ups the system would not boot for awhile and then magically just booted gives me concern there might be a motherboard problem.
Any solution ideas would be appreciated. Should I RMA the power supply, the motherboard, or both.

Great isn't it (although not without the occasional crash)
Would you say it's better but not there yet ? or the same ?
I thought the same as Ibn Quote
Your PS unit is a little weak for that much hardware, but I doubt thats your problem as well
re your PSU, given youv'e got a less hungry Graphic Card, thought it was at worse marginal, have seen worse.
To investigate further it may be worth diconnecting one of your HD, maybe the 200gb for a time.
It's a small thing but it may be slightly better to have both your maxtors together on IDE channel 1, given their identical.

If anyone can link the customerchecklist.doc on the MSI website I would greatly appreciate it.  I need to RMA my laptop, and while I printed out the RMA form, I didn't print out the customer checklist document that goes with it.
And as the original email was in my spam folder, I must have deleted it, so I don't have the link to the page the checklist is on.       I had an old link to the checklist from when I had to RMA my laptop last year, but that is no longer valid.   So if anyone has had a recent RMA of their laptop, if you can post the link, or send it to me in PM, many thanks.
if you bought laptop from local store then you can just go to local store and RMA it there they will then pack it in and send it away to a MSI service in your country or maybe nearby country that can do repairs.

  • Please help - broken 5900FX - RMA required

Can you please help me - I need to rma my 5900fx td as it no longer works properly. I get vertical lines every other time or chequered patterns all over the screen. Can you advise. I've had the card for a couple of months. I've got the box and all the contents although I appear to have mislaid the original receipt.
To add, it's been 'iffy' from the first day, although I put this down to cooling. So I gave it extra cooling via a papst fan mounted on a zalman bracket and this helped temporarily. Although now, it boots every other time and I get a few minutes use before the picture dies completely or I get artifacts or corruption.
    Thanks

Hi, sad to hear about your FX5900 dying out on you.
Where did you pruchase it? Was it online.?
Try to work with reputable merchants when sending stuff back is not a problem.
Also online merchants sometimes need no RMA just send it back.
Try to make the card look stock without any evidence of tampering.
Call the contact me number in the support area.

  • RMA process sucks

I have had nothing but problems with my msi board and so I finally decide to call them about doing a RMA.
I say "I would like to do an express RMA"
    They say "What is that?"
I say "Where I put a deposit on a credit card and you cross ship a board"
They say "We don't do that"
I say "Really?  What is your turn around time?"
    They say "10-14 days"
    I say "2 weeks eh"
    They say "10-14 business days...."
    1.  Does anyone know how to get a cross shipment or expedite the process?
    2.  Anyone know what the current board rev is for the 7025 (Neo 2 Platinum)?
The problems that I have are:
    1.  Logitech MX1000 keeps freezing
    2.  Won't detect Sidewinder joystick when a USB keyboard is plugged in
    3.  Can't use a PS2 mouse or keyboard
    4.  Floppy disk controller doesn't appear to work
    Think it should be rma'd?

As far as getting them to cross-ship a replacement, I didn't have any problems when I sent mine in.  Called them, said I needed to RMA my board and wanted to have the replacement crosshipped, they said sure thing.  They didn't even charge my card, just put a reserve on it.  The only thing that annoyed me was that they weren't set up to take a cross-ship RMA through their online tool, so I actually had to call them to get it taken care of.  Sounds like either I just got lucky getting someone on the phone when I called mine in, or that you just got unlucky.
Haven't had a bit of trouble with the replacement board.
Oh, and as far as the board Rev goes, it is at Rev 1.

  • RMA request

Hello, (Having difficulties getting through to the help line) Need help to replace the unit. I purchase a WRT350N on 10/11. Installed on 10/14, worked OK until last night 10/16. There was a bit of burning oder from the unit. Now - the wired LAN between PC and router is OK, but the wireless and WAN both no longer work. The only way for me to connect to Internet is to hook up my PC to cable modem directly. I think that I will need an RMA number, and info on how I can return the unit for replacement. Thanks,

You have just bought it a week ago. Bring it back to the shop.

  • K7N2Delta ILSR--No8XAGP----RMA???

Ok I read throught the FX5900 Ultra thread with over 390 replies, and found a solution for my lockups.  I go into the bios and turn AGP8x to disable and my aperature to 64.
So this means I need to RMA the board right? Cause no more lockups with it off and board is supposed to be able to run at 8x?
Should I get another MSI Delta ILSR from my online retailer or an entirely different mother board that doesn't have a sh!tty history like this one?
    Any suggestions?

My 5900ultra needed coolbits to bring out the 3d setting
and those badboys chew up volts like no tommorrow
On my card on the other side of the additional power plug are four lugs. I kept getting a will lower clock settins message due to not enuf volts so I took a volt meter and discovered that the message was right. Turns out I had all my fans on one rail and the card, I didn't realize that the processor fan drew down so many amps so I redistributed the power and checked and now all is well. the other thing is do you have the extra power connected to the board?

Ok I am going to skip right to the chase.  My hardware is found in my sig.  PSU, Ram, etc is all fine, and above required specs, and that isnt an issue.  The issue is the board itself.  Got a replacement MSI K7N2G-L for one that die prematurely.  Got it saturday in the mail, and popped a 800mhz duron in, and ran it at 133mhz fsb.  It ran perfectly fine.  got the replacement xp 2000+ today, popped it in, no go at 133mhz.  Its unstable...tested proc in server, server ran fine, tested server proc (same kind of amd, same speed), no go in here.  Seems that at 133mhz as a fsb, the system is unstable to the max.  I can get to the windows login, and it freezes.  Kind of have it running at 130mhz fsb, but right now its not liking that again.  Temperatures also seem way too high, even though i used the same heatskink and 7k rpm fan as before.  I even have a nice layer of artic silver 2 going as before.  So, im wondering, why is this happening?  Whats with the board?  I got a lemon again didnt it.  I even played with the one green jumper that sets the fsb settings since I saw a post before that that helped.  Ok, maybe it was a coincidence that it worked for a short while, back to its old tricks though.  I emailed the vendor about it, but I really cant have a machine that doesnt work, and I can get it at 100mhz fsb, but thats just not right.  I poured way too much money into my system, and I expect it to work.
any suggestions with this board?  If i get one more dud I need to get another brand or something.

Ok a little update.  1630MHz Is what I got it running at right now, 130mhz fsb.  I fiddled with everything I could think of, and well this is as stable as its getting .  I think I need to RMA the board yet again.  What do you guys think?
Temps on the cpu are running at about 111 F.  The northbridge chipset is like at 90degrees most of the time.  Seems hot to the touch (it has a msi labeled heatsink on it ).  Unfortunatley I dont have a heatsink/fan for the bridge, and at this point wont plunk $$ down on one till I get a replacement mobo I think.  I flashed the bio's from 3.6 on up to the current 3.9 and I dont believe i saw any difference.  It would almost seem like the temps are the true culprit, because once in a while I can get things going at 133mhz for the fsb but when I do somthing like play ut2k4 demo, it just freezes.  Dunno what else to say.
    Comments please?

  • NEED HELP WITH THIS BOARD

I see posts for my problem, but I don't know how to access the answers. I really hate being stupid like this, but I have 2 Zen V Plus players and they both have problems. My pride comes after my wallet, so if someone can explain how I find the answers to the posts, I'd really apprecaite it.

Well it seems that there are more people having the same problem.
KokChoy-CL suggests contacting Creative to ask about the problem, you can fill out this form and you will get a reply by email in a few days:
    http://support.creative.com/contact/emailform.aspx
In the other case, coachop94 suggests the same, RMA is the procedure for sending it in. But you first need an RMA number, and for that you also have to contact them by filling out the form I linked above.
If the problem just appeared by itself, and you are still under warranty, then there is a good change you can get it replaced.
So fill out the form, and let's hope for the best

  • Nv4_disp & nv4_mini.sys

Never had a problem with my vid card, (if that IS the problem), until I loaded Medal of Honor:Airborne. Can play for a few minutes, then the screen turns different colors and has a bunch of flashing dashes on the screen. System will eventually shutdown and upon restart is where I got the errors listed in "subject".
After the first error, I updated the vid drivers for my MSI 7900GT. Still having the same issues. Lowered screen resolution to 1024x768 and was able to play a little longer, but the end result was the same.
System specs: AMD 64 Dual core 4200, MSI 7900GT, SB Audigy2, 2 gigs Corsair RAM and a 650W PS.
Any help would be appreciated. The card will be 1 yr. old on the 22nd, so if I need to RMA it let me know.
I have looked up the nv4_disp error on the net and found that it's a common problem w/ nVidia as far back as the 5000 series up to the new 8000 series. Yet I haven't found a clear answer as to how to resolve issue.
    Thanks, H-

    Thanks,

Seems to be specified game problem then, since other games working fine.
You can stay up to date with VGA drivers, and up to date with game patches about that game and hope that problem will be resolved.
You can have a ask the support of this game about the problem.
