Negative black issue and 1.2

Hi there,
Can anyone confirm if the negative black issue has been fixed with 1.2?

Hey Michael,
This article describes the solution to a dark or negative image is updating the iPod.

  • Negative black issue with screen

The negative black issue was very pronounced on my first generation iPhone... and I'm also noticing it on my new one, but to a lesser degree. Anybody else seeing this?
www.appleservedup.com has a screen test to test for the negative black issue.

Yep, that's what my screen looks like. Makes it very difficult to watch video with lots of dark colors. I had this problem on my first iPhone, and was hoping it'd be resolved on the new 3G, but nope
If you have a chance, do the screen test at appleservedup.com. The color in the boxes should be significantly lighter than the black background. If not, you probably have the negative black issue.

  • A positive thread: Who all has NO SYMPTOMS of the "negative" black issue?

I ordered a refurb'ed iPhone 8GB on Monday, and it is slated to arrive this Friday.
I have been reading the forums and have noticed that some users are complaining of "negative" black lcd issues. This makes me nervous about my iPhone that is coming to me.
I'm curious as to how widespread this problem is. Is it just a small fraction of the iPhone's that are affected?
So, what I want to know is: How many owners have absolutely no "negative black" issues with their phone?
This is a thread for POSITIVE feedback about the iPhone! Tell me about your perfect iPhone!

OK, I have to totally revoke my post! lol! After reading your post, I actually went and checked... and the blacks ARE negative! Wow... lol Now Im upset. I guess youre worries were more justified than I had thought.

  • LCD screen blotchiness and negative black

I know that people have been discussing the iPhone screen issues for a while... there seems to be a big difference between the 5 series and 7 series LCD displays.
I completed an LCD test on my iPhone at www.appleservedup.com. I tested both my 7 series iPhone and my dad's 5 series iPhone, and there is a striking difference. My 7 series has a negative black issue which is especially annoying when trying to watch movies. The 5 series LCD does not have this issue.
In addition, I've noticed that the backlighting on my 7 series is blotchy... there are blotches of lighter areas and darker areas. Again, not an issue on the 5 series.
Has anybody had any luck exchanging your iPhone with these issues?

I went to the Apple Store Genius Bar and had them look at it... I showed the "Genius" the difference in screen quality between my 7 series LCD and my Dad's 5 series LCD iPhone... To demonstrate the negative black issue on my iPhone, I compared the appleservedup.com test and a short film on both iPhones. The Genius told me that there is nothing wrong with my iPhone's screen and what I'm seeing is completely under specifications. Sounds ridiculous to me... there obviously is a huge difference in quality between the 5 and 7 series screens... and the negative black issue should be considered normal. Maybe I should just call AppleCare...

  • On a good screen is there ANY negative black effect?

My iPhone is a replacement refurbished unit. Since my replacement, I am experiencing negative black effect and dead spot. Few weeks ago, I called Apple care and after explaining the problem, they sent me a loaner and shipped mine to Apple center for repair. The loaner was superb, enjoyed it without any negative effect or dead spot at all, and had for a week until my original unit came back. All excited, open the box and look at service report, nothing was done to the unit and indication was they couldn’t reproduce the problem so they sent the unit back to me without any repair with the same old issues.
So I called apple care again and told them the loaner I have is extremely brighter, better, than my original one and I could see the difference and the problem with the negative effect so, they transferred me to product specialist and after talking to product specialist it was like I came from planet Naboo that I have no idea what I am talking about, even when I was indicating to her that there are two different screen version 5 and 7 with the loaner being 5 and mine original 7. She asked me, “How do I know?” Told her, well dialing the diagnostic sequence on the iPhone *300… All and all she said NO, there is no difference between two products and I hanged up and went with my business and only using the my iPhone without the video because at the end of the day I am the unlucky one out of the 1.2 M iPhone units sold. Hummm. I wonder who is the lucky one now has the loaner unit for one week.

  • Screen problems - black screen and lock-up (plus HDMI issues)

Hi, I'm not sure if these are related to the same fundamental issue, but they are both serious problems that need resolution.
I have a new mid-2012 MBPretina.  I am on all the latest updates (10.8.2).
The first problem is the most recent, and the most serious problem.  Since I updated the Java a couple of days ago I've been experiencing random black screens and lock-ups.  Essentially, what happens is that sometimes when I perform an action (opening an app, clicking a link on a webpage, performing other kinds of in-app actions, etc.) the computer screen will go black.  About half the time I can, through my own memory, try keyboard combinations to quit or force quit the most recently used app (the one where the action was just performed), and I will get some glimpse of the underlying apps, while the menubar and other areas will remain black until I move a window on top of the black space.  Sometimes no key combinations work and I am forced to perform a hard restart with the power button.  This is a serious issue, obviously, since I will lose current work/progress in my apps.  I'm not sure if this is because of the new Java update, or has to do with something else, but it started happening shortly thereafter, over the last 2 days.  I work most of my waking day on my laptop, and this "black screen of death" has happened about 5 or 6 times a day.
The second problem I have been experiencing since I starting using my MBPr with external HDMI displays in August/September.  The problem is that I will plug the MBPr into an HDMI display, the screen will temporaliy go black, and then bring me to the login screen (as if it's crashing, albeit softly).  This happens about 1 out of 4 times nowadays.
How can I fix these problems, especially the first?

    UPDATE:
Clearly there's a problem because a third of the way through a clean reinstallation from scratch it black screened again. Hmmmm.
Now this is not good. Problem is I can't rule out potential updates from Apple that might have caused this either.
    The search for solutions continues.

  • Black thumbnails and negative images after import

I'm experiencing a problem with iPhoto 6 and some images importing with black thumbnails and negative main images.
I've tried replacing the sRGB Profile.icc (it wasn't missing for me), but that didn't work.
    Any suggestions?
1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Are those negative images B/W photos? If so they may be Grayscale mode. Download the "Embed sRGB Profile" Automator application form Toad's Cellar and drop the original files for those photos onto it. If it's a grayscale mode file it will correct the situation. iPhoto 6 does not play well with Grayscale images.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Massive Negative Point Balance and Reward Certificates That I Don't Want

I made a purchase near black friday and then returned it January (it was defective). In the meantime I was issued $15 in certificates. After the return I now have a massive negative point balance (-363). I don't like having such a negative points balance and I don't need purchase anything in the time-frame before the certificates expire. I would therefore like to return (or invalidate) the certificates and have those points added back to my account. Also if I remember correctly I only returned a $200 tablet, so I don't understand how I got to -363 points.
    Thank you
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Greetings jl2015, and welcome to the Best Buy forum,
I would not want to have a negative point balance either, as it could potentially cause issues with any points that are awarded for purchases you make in the future.  I looked over your My Best Buy™ account using the email address you registered with the forum and can see exactly why your point balance went negative.  Let me see what I can do to help.
As you mentioned, you recently returned an item that had been purchased back on Black Friday.  That return would have resulted in any points you were awarded for the original purchase to be deducted from your account, and since the pre-tax total was about $200 and you used a Best Buy credit card, almost 500 points were deducted from your account.  You did not have sufficient points in your account when the return was processed because they had been converted into two certificates.
In most cases, active certificates in a member's account will be voided and the point values added to their balance in-order to help when there is a negative balance.  The two certificates that you have in your account could help bring you out of the negative.  I will be sending you a private message so that I can go over your My Best Buy™ account with you in additional detail.  To check your private messages, you will want to login to the forum and click on the envelope at the top of the page.
Thank you for posting and for being a My Best Buy™ member!

  • My lock screen just shows a black background and a User Name/Password dialog after opening the screen from sleep. How do I get it back to where it blurs my desktop image with the dialog and my account image displayed?

I'm not sure when it began, but now my Macbook Air only shows a black background and a User Name and Password dialog box when I wake it from sleep. It used to show my desktop background blurred with my user name and icon displayed with only a text field for entering my password. I'm currently using Yosemite (OS X 10.10.1) and all updates have been done. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I know this isn't a real problem, just an annoyance since I couldn't find how to change it back in the System Preferences.

I just have to point out that after looking at a related post (https://discussions.apple.com/message/22661092#22661092), it brought to memory that my issue most certainly began happening after I added some DoD certificates to the keychain. This obviously has something to do with it, but it still leaves me wondering what actually causes this to happen. :/

  • HP Envy 15 Heating Issues and Screen Damage

    Hello,
This is going to be quite long since I'm going to explain everything in as much detail as possible.
I bought my HP Envy 15 (j123tx) in September 2014 and for three months I had absolutely no issue with it (work wise and gaming wise) until one day I booted up the computer and noticed that a big rectangular portion of the screen (on the top - in the rectangular area that aligns with the touchpad when the lid is closed) was discoloured. Specifically it was much darker than the rest of the screen on a black background and yellow on a white background.
After checking to see if there was anything on the screen's surface, I realized it was a hardware issue and decided to use my warranty (of which I have another 8 months or so remaining). I told the retailers about the issue and they told me it could be because of the pressure applied on the lid (when it is closed) that affects the screen specifically in that area since the touchpad is a bit sunken in to the notebook's body. After expressing my displeasure at how inconvenient that is since I've taken very good care of my notebook and have only transported it in the HP notebook bag, they promised me that they would send it to the HP Service Center in Sri Lanka who would replace the display panel for me (obviously since my notebook is still under warranty).
After 10 working days, I went over to the retailer's warranty center and collected my notebook with the display panel replaced and the problem gone. I did however notice that the technicians had pasted a note next to the touchpad which read "Check  the temperature of the touchpad. It could be heating up and damaging the screen". I asked the retailer's technicians what this meant and they told me that since the notebook has a magnesium (or magnesium based) body, it tends to heat up. The heat could also be heating up the touchpad (since that too seems to be made of magnesium). As a result whenever I close the lid of my notebook, the rectangular screen area directly above the touchpad could be heating up and thus getting damaged.
Now this to me seems like a huge product defect. I've been using HP notebooks for more than 8 years and I've never heard of this issue before. I asked the technicians how I could prevent this from occurring again and they told me to use the little cloth that came with the laptop when I bought it that is placed under the lid (between the screen and the keyboard) when the lid is closed.
While using that little cloth doesn't seem to be quite inconvenient, I'm very afraid that the problem will occur again and I'll have to get it fixed again which involves transferring all my data and losing my notebook for 2 weeks which is highly problematic for me as I require it for work. Should the problem occur again outside the warranty period, I feel I may have wasted a good amount of money on this notebook when I trusted HP over its competitors simply due to my past experiences with its reliability, durability and performance.
While I realize this is not a current issue - I would really like to know if this issue has been experienced before (my search did not turn up anything related) and if I do have to be worried about it happening again and if so, how I should go about handling it with the retailers (perhaps I should give it back and ask for a refund for selling me a defective product).
    Thank you sincerely.
PS: I have attached a picture of the problem when it occurred for your reference.

Thanks for the prompt reply WeiH.
Sadly there doesn't seem to be an HP Service Center in my country (Sri Lanka). So now I'm really confused as to what my retailer's technicians meant by "we'll send it to the local HP Support Center and have your display panel replaced".
Whatever they did, the display panel has been replaced and I've been using it for less than a week so far with no issues. The touchpad hasn't really been heating up and has in fact been as warm as the rest of the notebook. Perhaps it's because I have now turned on the option of disabling the touchpad whenever an external cursor device is attached (since I primarily always use a mouse).
Needless to say, since we both have no clue as to how the touchpad overheated and damaged the screen (in the exact position and measurement as the touchpad) I feel like it's just a matter of time before it happens again.
Obviously I understand that there's little you can do on your side other than direct me to an HP Support Center. However I hope my worries are justified as I feel that as a consumer I shouldn't have to worry about my brand new product malfunctioning by no fault of my own.

  • Compilation of Lenovo X120e issues and solutions

Just thought a compilation of issues may be beneficial for folks who own an X120e.
Screen adjusts brightness automatically without user input depending on content on screen:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X100e-screen-brightness-increasing-by-itself/td...
This is caused by Vari-Bright being enabled in the Catalyst Control Center.  With this option enabled, the screen will automatically adjust its brightness depending on what is shown on the screen.  The display brightness is increased when the screen is predominantly white while the display brightness is decreased when the screen is predominantly dark.  An easiest way to see this effect happening is to have two tabs opened in a web browser window.  Set one tab to display a website that is mainly filled with white pixels (such as this Lenovo Forum) and another tab to display a website that is mainly filled with dark pixels (such as http://www.krijtenberg.nl/ ).  Switch between the two, pausing a few seconds in each tab.
    Solution:
Open the Catalyst Control Center and select the PowerPlay option in the Power section.  Uncheck the Vari-Bright option (or adjust the slider) and click Apply.  Verify that the automatic adjustment is no longer occuring by doing the two tab experiment described above.
Function keys for brightness control not working after waking from sleep / hibernation in some instances:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/x120e-Funtion-keys-for-brightness-not-working/t...
For my X120e, whenever I have it sleeping or hibernating and change the power source (such as initiating sleep when on power and then waking it up while on battery, or vice versa), the function keys for brightness controls do not work.
    Solution:
Restarting the machine will bring back functionality of the brightness control keys...
A way to prevent this from happening in the first place is to wake the X120e in the same power state that the X120e was put to sleep in (wake up from power adapter if slept while connected to power adapter, or wake up from battery if slept while on battery).
All we can do now is wait for Lenovo to come up with a fix on their side of things.
AMD SATA Controller and TRIM for SSD:
The AMD SATA Controller provided by Lenovo does not support passing of TRIM command according to http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/450343-post35.html for SSDs.  The Lenovo provided AMD SATA Controller is 1.2.1.197, before the official TRIM support in 1.2.1.263.  If you're using a HDD, this is of no concern.
    Solution:
In order to have support for passing of TRIM command, one has to update the AMD SATA Controller to any version above 1.2.1.263 ( http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/integrated_win7-64.aspx#3 for Windows 7 64-bit, for example) or uninstall the AMD SATA Controller to revert back to Microsoft's Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller.
Disclaimer:  Since the AMD SATA Controller driver linked is not from Lenovo themselves, I'm sure they won't provide any support if something is to occur so try at your own risk.
As HP79 mentions below, at least according to the update notes, TRIM implementation is implemented for Hudson chipsets as of 1.2.001.263.
Audio Stutter / Slurring occuring during playback of video/audio:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/x120e-Stuttering-Audio/td-p/389023
This issue can be reproduced (at least on my X120e) by waking the X120e after putting it to sleep.  The symptom is the audio repeating a sound over a span of a second or two during playback and is quite noticable.
    Solution:
uEFI Bios version 1.11 seems to deal with the audio stuttering issue.  So far, results lead to positive outcomes.
    Old Solution:
PWMTR64V.DLL that is loaded at Startup seems to be causing this issue.  Disabling it from launching when starting up seems to cure the Audio Stutter (even after waking up from sleep which was seen to be a pretty reliable way to get the issue to repro).  Start Menu > Launch MSCONFIG from the Search Bar > Select Startup Tab from the System Configuration window > Uncheck Thinkpad Power Manager > Restart.
This does not seem to turn off the power manager application itself so settings in Power Manager can be saved and it seems to still be in effect.  However, opening up Power Manager from the notification / taskbar can cause audio stuttering and mouse movement slowdown while it is launching and/or when applying settings.  This is only temporary and is gone when Power Manager is closed. (Thanks kns7977 for the find)
Pending to see if those who uninstalled Power Manager are able to turn off the offending startup .dll.
Mouse seems to stutter or stay in place for a moment when moving:
This seems to be caused by the same issue causing the Audio Stutter / Slurring.  At least at this time, the cause of the issue and solution seems to be the same.
Emulating Middle Mouse Button with Trackpoint:
One can set up the middle button between the left and right click button for the TrackPoint to act like pressing a middle mouse button on a standard mouse by changing the scrolling type to Smooth instead of the default Standard.
Control Panel > Hardware & Sound > Mouse > UltraNav Tab > Setting for TrackPoint > Setting for Choose Scrolling or Magnifying Glass Function > Smooth.
Trackpad's two finger gesture being hit or miss:
The trackpad's two finger scrolling is very hit and miss.
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X120e-Touchpad-issues/td-p/393751
Solution: Turning off Gesture Filtering may alleviate the problem.  As mentioned in http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo-ibm/561751-x120e-owners-thread-24.html#post7323293, it seems that the Gesture Filtering is counteracting any sort of two finger input.
Get to Mouse Properties by Fn + F8, select Manage Settings.  At Mouse Properties, select the UltraNav tab > Settings for TouchPad.  Expand the Smart Check Settings, highlight Gesture Filtering, and uncheck the Enable Gesture Filtering box and Apply.
    Screen flickers lines:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/x120e-Flickering/td-p/389523
Had this issue occur on me once, but never seen it happen again.  Unsure what caused or cured it.
    Solution:
If the flickering is occuring, a restart is all that is needed to alleviate the problem.  Haven't tested if hibernation fixes it, but neither sleep nor turning off the screen with the Power Manager dealt with the flickering.
3-Cell Battery mentioned as a 40Wh in the Order Page of Lenovo X120e when it is actually rated as 32Wh according to Power Manager:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X120e-3-cell-40Wh-battery-reported-as-32Wh-by-P...
    Yeah...
    Solution:
Accept that it's a 32Wh you will get when selecting 3-Cell or go for the 6-Cell if you want more than 32Wh.
2x2 ABGN Driver from Lenovo triggering Error Code 10:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X120e-ABGN-Driver-issue-in-Windows-7-Pro-x64/td...
The Wireless driver from Lenovo's site seems to not work with the 2x2 ABGN wireless when installed on a fresh copy of Windows 7 x64.
    Solution:
Not really quite a solution, but one can bypass this by either installing the 32-bit Windows 7 and installing the 32-bit driver, or using the factory recovery disc to install 64 bit windows 7 to have it install drivers that work for x64 windows 7.
X120e bluescreens after installing LAN Realtek 7.26.902.2010 drivers from Lenovo's Driver download site.
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/x120e-bluescreen-when-installing-lan-drivers/td...
The drivers doesn't seem to work and it causes a bluescreen on fresh installed Windows 7 x64.
    Solution:
As Clicq suggests, Realtek's own drivers from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTy... seems to deal with the issue.
    Screen quality on the X120e:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/x120e-poor-LCD-quality-viewing-angles/td-p/3945...
The quality of the screen on an X120e is below expectations.
This is common with low-quality TN panels not helped by glossy displays.  My personal X120e screen likes to bleed certain colors of red.
    Solution (not really):
One can use the Windows 7 built-in color calibration tool to adjust the colors to make it more tolerable.  Adjusting your own viewing angle in relation to the screen might deal with some color issues (hard to figure out what's the correct viewing angle because of TN panel's small range of optimal viewing angles).  Also, changing the refresh rate to 60Hz may deal with some headaches due to the screen (as it did for me).
    HDMI Overscan to HDTV issue:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/HDMI-overscan-to-HDTV-issue-on-x120e/m-p/395335
There is a black border when outputting to HDTV through HDMI.
    Solution:
AMD's CCC by default sets a specific value for overscan / underscan.  One can http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/Output-to-TV-via-HDMI-port-black-border-on-the-... while the device is connected via HDMI (the option is hidden if the HDMI port is not used) and adjust the slider to an acceptable value.
Skype asserts after 10-20 seconds of video chat:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/x120e-Skype-quits-after-10-20-seconds-of-video/...
When doing a video chat, the video feed will freeze and then skype will crash to desktop.
    Solution:
Version 5.3 of Skype seems to be the culprit.  Until Skype itself is fixed, one can use Skype 5.2.60.113 from http://www.filehippo.com/download_skype/changelog/9465/ to bypass this issue.  Just reject any offer to update to 5.3 after installing 5.2, for now.
If there is anything I missed, please respond and I'll update this post with new information.  These are the ones that I have encountered so far with my Lenovo X120e.  Don't get me wrong, I like my X120e... it's just been a "learning" experience lol

  • OS 10.3.1 Update - issues and question on how to uninstall / rollback

    Hi.
Up front, I'm trying to remain calm, professional, objective. Pretty sure I've missed the mark, but, then, read on...
I'm having some issues with OS 10.3.1 update. Before anyone says search the boards, I have. For hours. On various websites. I'd appreciate (but am not hopeful for) an official response from BlackBerry.
    1. I am using a Z30. Carrier is Rogers Wireless (Canada) Updates are set to off. Yet, unbelievably, the update came down anyway, when I was driving, didn't know until I got home. Device rebooted and now 10.3.1xxxx is on my smartphone.
    ISSUES:
    1. The screen blacks out. EVERY TIME I wake it, the display is zoomed in. I have to gesture and gesture and gesture to get the display to fit the screen so I can unlock the phone.
    2. The home screen is not customisable, and is the default. Now I have to swipe to get to either the hub or my applications. Twice the work = 1/2 the productivity.
    3. The much-vaunted Assistant does what, exactly? All I know is when I did voice dialing via Bluetooth earpiece, the call would (75% of the time) be made. The other 25% of the time, I have to tell it "Call Mom Home" is not the same as "search battery charge". Yeah, my bluetooth is a very expensive, highly-rated one that has no issues in recognition with any other device. Now, the Voice part (Assistant?) doesn't make ANY calls. At best, it offers me suggestions, usually not related (Linda <> Tom) and wastes my time reading out multiple PHONE NUMBERS. Good grief, If I knew the darn phone number, I'd just tell it, Call (phone number). It'd be faster than sitting through all that. Otherwise, Voice Assistant whatever doesn't do much of anything for me. I have it set, as far as I can tell, to do the minimum, not interact with everything on my phone.
    4. Although the new Camera app now (finally!) renders colours more-or-less correctly, whereas before everything was tinted blue, I'm not a fan of the new positioning of the controls. Putting the video button beside the "Take picture" button is ridiculous. The touch sensitivity is so off, that I find myself recording video rather than taking a wanted picture --- and the moment is lost. I really miss being able to tap the screen to take a picture. Now I have to aim for a small dot at the bottom. If I wanted an iPhone, I would have bought an iPhone!
    5. More on the Camera front, it's now difficult to get to photos. As in, I touch the icon to bring up the list of photos, and the latest shot never appears. I have to swipe to find it. And in a different direction now.
    6. In the Hub, especially, the "select multiple" used to be right in the middle of the menu. Now I have to scroll down to find and activate it.
    7. What's with the honking battery drain? More tinkering required on my part to get it back to the 4-day standby I used to enjoy?
    MISSED FEATURES UPDATES:
    1. I was really hoping this latest update with display the NUMBER of the phone entry. Such as Work 1, Work 2, etc. I find it useful to assign direct number always as Work 1, then toll free as Work 2, Main reception as Work 3, Home as Work 4, and so on. Then it's easy to use (or used to be) voice dialling to call the number I want without knowing what the number actually is. I was also hoping the update would eliminate that so offensive message "next time, just say call xxxxx Mobile 2" or whatever. Which I darn well would, if there was anything in the contacts to display the sequence of numbers.
    2. Calendar. Seriously, why can't I set a reminder for somewhere between 3 and 7 days???? I'm so tired of setting one for (7-3) days, doing the calculation in my head to bypass weekends or other events) then having to update the reminder when I get to the BlackBerry-approved 3 day range. Other smart phones allow any custom setting. Allow me to also ask, put the custom reminder FIRST. Don't make us scroll all the way to the bottom to find it!
    3. Allow me to put my most-used icons on the fricking HOME SCREEN! I don't care about the cutesy pictures. I care about getting my job done as quickly and conveniently as possible.
    4. Fix the darn voice control mechanism. I bought expensive Bluetooth pieces. All I want to do is do voice dialling. That's it.
    5. Give me some control over the spell check. There's no way to edit the words that are "learnt" through monitoring usage.
    6. Enough with the US-marketing. Mountain Time is Mountain Time. Not US-Mountain Time. I'm not picking something like that, I don't care who that offends. It's as dumb as as settting time zones (as Apple used to) to "Calgary, Alberta." I don't live in Calgary. I do live in the GENERIC Mountain time Zone.
    7. Speaking of, I also speak English. Not US-English with US-spelling. How about giving Canada some love
    8. Give me the option to rollback the update. Or at least choose which parts I want.
    9. Expand support for file formats. At this point, I can only load documents onto my smartphone if they're Adobe or Microsoft Office. Here's the thing - I operate in the Corel WordPerfect universe. So the Z30 is limited in what I can / can't do with it. Why on earth can't I just copy my FILES to my phone? Even if I can't edit them, I can use the whopping 64 GB memory chip as a flash drive to take my files with me when I travel. I don't always take a computer ...sometimes I use what's at destination. Plus having them on the phone SHOULD allow me to email them or send in other ways...whether or nor BlackBerry can read them.
    ===================
    REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE:
Better - release an immediate UPDATE to fix these problems and add the features I've noted above. Surely I'm not the only one struggling with the built-in limitations of the interface and info-displays.
Please tell me how I can rollback / uninstall / whatever this "update".
I shudder to think the only solution is to backup, restore, then reload the Z30. Others have tried and have not been successful.
    MORE VENTING;
The only reason I'm still on BlackBerry is that the issues and to an extent a difference in perspective regarding phone layout / features are still less problematic on BB Z30 than they are on ios or android platforms. Absolutely in my opinion. But then, I'm the one with a frustration level well into the redline.
Thanks for reading. I'll be even more grateful for some resolution.

    Also:
#2) You can turn off the blank home screen by going to Settings >Display and turning off "Show Wallpaper When All Apps Are Closed."
