    Gday ladies and gents,
I've been MIA for a lil bit...  glad to be back
I've received alot of help with My X48C and we're getting closer and closer to total sweetness....
I am currently using 7.2B1 and for the most part she does ok.  A couple of issues tho:
Legacy USB support seems to be a lil wonky....  every 2nd reboot BIOS tells me I have no Keyboard... I enter BIOS and sometimes it still says enabled....sometimes it switches back to disabled.  No matter which setting I choose the keyboard always works in BIOS post, so I can always get into bios, however I can never use my keyboard until I actually get into windows.  Its a minor inconvenience but this lil glitch prevents me from using the VISTA boot options.  IE I cant get into safe mode or even invoke the boot menu with F8 unless I hook up a wired keyboard.  I use a logitech wireless mouse \ KB combo not sure if its a hardware conflict or something -Asus had issues with Razor mice \ KBs for instance-
The other issue is that damned 1N timing I keep moaning about...  On this BIOS it is intermittant...  sometimes it registers command rate 1 in everest etc... sometimes it doesnt.  Also my timings are a lil unstable.  Unless I specify them manually sometimes I'm 6-6-6-18, 6-6-6-16, 7-7-7-20 or 7-7-7-22.  The previous 7.1 beta bios I received -cant remember the build...but it was on of the later ones before the 7.2 beta- always had command rate 1 functioning but the board would be finiky posting...sometimes taking me 5+ mins to get it off the ground...  but once she posted all was good
Are there any other betas or foolish experimental builds that I could take for a spin...  I love the rapid bios evolutions that this board seems to receive and am always up for further testing!  I'll be sure to be a regular PITA -pain in the @$$- again
Thanks again for all the test builds and wicked support!  You guys rock!   Its good to be back again!

  • What is the latest beta bios for Msi 975x platinum PU edition mobo??

Anyone knows? And where can i get it?? Is it safe to install? I currently have the latest oficiall drivers of 7.4.

If you do not have any problems, there is not reason for you to flash to another BIOS-Version.  You are already using the latest BIOS available. The BIOS of a computer IS NOT a driver.  I am sure you know that, but since you keep calling it a driver, I want to be sure that this is clear to you.  Get your system running stable first before you start worrying about putting on another BIOS: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=103441.0 (please read!!!).
Now, if you are aware of all that, and still want to try a beta BIOS, have a look here:

  • So, has anyone tried the 1.3 BIOS for the P965 Platinum yet?

    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/bios/bos/spt_bos_detail.php?UID=745&kind=1
Who wants to be the guinea pig?

My P965 already came with 1.3 when I first got it back in December but the date of the latest on MSI's website show 2007... go figure.  Anyway, my Corsair memory works fine with their default settings but I changed it to 4-4-4-12T @ 2.1V and that seems to work fine.  I need to test it a bit more.
The interesting thing came when I contacted Corsair of BIOS settings.  Here is their response regarding this mobo:
"There is a bug with this motherboard. When you adjust the CAs LAtency to 4 it is actually running at 3. Untill MSI resolves this issue, I can only recommend that you run the timings at 5-4-4-12@800MHZ 1.9v. You can verifiy what I'm stating by setting the DDR Frequency to 667MHZ and the timings to 4-4-4-12. Run CPU-Z  and look under the Memory TAB."
Are you guys aware this?  I contacted MSI on this, they ask me to update my BIOS to V1.36.  What v1.36???  No such version...
    Anyone?

  • RAM settings for BIOS 1.5 (P965 Platinum)

Since upgrading to BIOS 1.5 there now is some extra settings when doing memory timings manually. (SPD disabled)
DRAM TRFC, TWR, TWTR, TRRD & TRTP.
    My memory is Corsair XMS2 2048 DDR2 800  6400C4 & I had it set to 4-4-4-12 with BIOS 1.4.
Does anyone know what settings the rest should be set to?
Searched the net endlessly tonight to no avail.

yep, but they are strongly individually depend of memory used. best will be to leave them to default values. or if they must be filled check memory Advanced SPD reading with RMMA (RightMark Memory Analyzer) to findout default values. or just leave them to Auto and then check values assigned with some appl. like Everest.

  • K9N Platinum Beta Bios?

Can anyone tell me or show me if there is a new beta bios out for the K9N Platinum?
Right now I'm using beta 1.45 and it works great! Except...I just want something that will fix the stupid cpu temp reading!!!
Lemme know if you find anything.
    thanks!

  • Any News on New BIOS soon for P965 Neo?

Anyone heard anything about a new official BIOS for the P965 Neo?
I hope 1.5 isn't the last we will hear about.
    Moderators know anything?
There is still some major shortcomings with 1.5
I'm not one for trying Beta's either...........

No, I dunno any update yet.... check with other P965 Neo users?
    Do you face any issue?

  • Oveclocking E6420 on P965 Platinum - interesting !

    Hi all
I am trying to overclock my 6420 with the P965 Plat bios 1.4 also using Corsair twin2x2048 6400CL5 (5 5 5 12 on 1.9v). Strange things are happening  I can get the system stable at 2.8Ghz with 1.4+v on core and impressive 1050mhz on my ddr working on 2:3 with 800 and 2.15v. System is also stable at 2.76ghz and 1035mhz ram at 2.1v. The most interesting thing is when i put the ram to 1:1 533 in the bios. Everything is getting unstable, i can boot and run windows but for some time only. Playing with timings and voltages doesn't make it better. Where is the point, if the FSB is set to 355 - 2.8ghz the Ram is set to 700mhz let's say we give it more energy at 2.1v and low timings at 5 5 5 15. Isn't that be more stable than running it with 1035 on 2.1v ?
As i can tell for me, the FSB is ok and the CPU will boot without problems at 3.0ghz and it did, windows and on, but the memory is totally unstable. Changing the voltages on it and/or on the northbridge isn't moving me forward.
If i get the new beta bios 1.5b3 or something like that will it get any stable with DDR set to 533 ? My point is not to toast my memory but to get to the unseeing 3.0ghz

    ok here are the numbers:
    for DDR 533:
    Memory Frequency
    < Timings >
    .   CAS# Latency (tCL)   4
    .   RAS# to CAS# Read Delay   4
    .   RAS# to CAS# Write Delay   4
    .   RAS# Precharge (tRP)   4
    .   Precharge Delay (tRAS)   13
    < SubTimings >
.   All Precharge to Activate   4
.   Refresh Cycle Time (tRFC)   28
    .   CS# to MCH-ODT Latency   2
.   Write to Precharge Delayed   11
.   Write to Read Delayed (tWTR)   9
.   Act to Act Delayed (tRRD)   2
    .   Read to Write Delay (tRD_WR)   8
.   Read to Precharge (tRTP)   4
.   All Precharge to Refresh delay   4
        529.8 MHz (4.0-4-4-13)
    as i put the timmings on 5 5 5 15 in the bios i get that CS# to MCH-ODT Latency   Res (0).
CPU-Z tells me that my ram can work on 533 with 4 4 4 13.
    for DDR 800:
    Memory Frequency
    < Timings >
    .   CAS# Latency (tCL)   3 (it's 5 but the bios shows 3 also in CPU-Z)
    .   RAS# to CAS# Read Delay   5
    .   RAS# to CAS# Write Delay   5
    .   RAS# Precharge (tRP)   5
    .   Precharge Delay (tRAS)   15
    < SubTimings >
.   All Precharge to Activate   5
.   Refresh Cycle Time (tRFC)   42
    .   CS# to MCH-ODT Latency   3
.   Write to Precharge Delayed   14
.   Write to Read Delayed (tWTR)  11
.   Act to Act Delayed (tRRD)   3
    .   Read to Write Delay (tRD_WR)   8
.   Read to Precharge (tRTP)   5
.   All Precharge to Refresh delay   5
        1035 MHz (5.0-5-5-15)
the command rate for DDR 533 is 1T and for 800 is 2T, but as i see i cannot change thouse

  • Z77A-GD65 GAMING Beta BIOS request

Is there any new beta bios for this mobo ?
The latest 25.1B2 is very buggy for me. After ~10-15min System/GPU "heavy" gaming (Crysis 3) the whole PC starts freezing (2 sec. running - 4 sec. total freezing). Moreover this freezing continues after exiting the game and still continue freezing when: "System Windows is shutting down" appears when I try to restart. When I look at task manager it shows 100%-0%-100% cpu spikes in this 2-4sec intervals.
I am 100% sure it is caused by this bios. It started with this bios and after switching to older bios everything runs fine.
So why using this bios? Because it fixes another issue. I tried 3 different 25.x (beta/official) versions and every one of them has issue with "remembering" BIOS fan settings after power loss (or power supply switched off). In spite of that settings are still there after power loss, they have no effect and fans (esp. CPU) run in default state (very noisy). It's enough to enter the bios, save, restart and thats it, but why.
This issue is fixed in 25.1B2.

No newer beta. If you are sure it is a bios issue report it to MSI so they can work on another beta to possibly fix that issue: >>How to contact MSI.<<

  • My motherboard is dead ase to upgrade to the latest beta bios. MSI Z68 GD65 G3

    Good night.
Yesterday update the motherboard BIOS the 23.7 to 25.6 but had problems with overclocking and stability.
Update motherboard bios because with 23.7 mi new graphics card had no video signal.
Today I was recommended to update to a new beta bios, the latest for msi z68 GD65 G3 that could be better.
The process is completed perfectly with the forum tool.
Now comes on but restarts constantly. The second bios will not start either. No lights light and remove the memory but makes no noise.
Clear cmos, remove the battery, ... I have not earned at all.
    Any solutions?

have you done >>Clear CMOS Guide<< with power cord removed?
have you tried to boot with 1 memory stick only?

  • New Computer with the P965 Platinum

Hello. I'm new to computer building. I'm tired of Dell. I just ordered the following setup:
1 Thermaltake Bach VX Mid Tower Computer Case
1 Thermaltake Purepower 600W Power Supply
    1 MSI P965 Platinum Motherboard
    1 Intel Core 2 Duo E6700
    1 ZALMAN 9700 CPU Cooler
    1 Mushkin eXtreme Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
    1 EVGA GeForce 8800GTX
    2 SAMSUNG 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
    1 SAMSUNG 18X DVD±R SATA DVD Burner
1 ASUS Black SATA DVD-ROM Drive
1 Microsoft Windows Vista 32-Bit Ultimate
Did I screw anything up? I was wondering if I will be able to assemble the computer and have it boot the first time. Or should I expect problems? Does anyone have any insight or wisdom for me as to what I should expect?
I had a few specific questions:
1.) RAID0 configuration: Is there more than one RAID controller? If so, which is better?
2.) Windows Vista (32 bit) installation: Is there anything I should do before installing Vista?
3.) Overclocking: After the dust settles I want to mildly overclock my CPU, GPU, and RAM. Does anyone have any recommended overclock settings or links on how to do this?
    Thank you.

Why overclock? Mainly because of intellectual curiosity and because faster is better all else equal. It's like Spinal Tap - I want my volume to go to 11!
Thanks T_smith for the overclocking how-to, but it appears my BIOS options on the P965 are different that yours. I will start a thread in the Overclocking forum.
My computer runs great and is fast. It's been quite a learning experience so far. You guys have been a lot of help. Thank you.
I created a bootable USB drive (definitely good to have around) and flashed the BIOS to 1.5b3.
At boot time, the computer beeps once for every USB device that is plugged into the computer. Is there a way to disable that beep in the BIOS? I have a USB mouse and keyboard and it's a bit annoying to listen to the beeps.
I installed CPU-Z. I got a scare to see my CPU idling at 1.6 GHz instead of 2.67 GHz (6 multiplier vs. 10 multiplier). Then I realized it was completely normal because of Intel SpeedStep.
I installed MSI DualCore Monitor, nVidia nTune, CoreTemp to monitor my temps.
    Here are my temps:
    Closed case (messy wires still)
    - GPU 68 C
    - System 40 C
    - CPU 34 C (CoreTemp & DualCore Monitor) vs. CPU 40 C (H/W in BIOS)
Does anyone know why the CPU temp measurements differ so dramatically? SpeedStep?
If I take the side panel off the computer, all temps drop 3-5 C.
I noticed that HDD write cache is disable by default. Do you guys think it's worth enabling? It's a performance vs. data protection question. I don't mind a little data loss in the event of a power failure, but I don't want the OS to become permanently unstable.

  • Cellshock DDR2-800 2.22v stock question on P965 Platinum. New question !

I was around in here and saw someone talking about not take op the dram voltage.
The stock ram v on the P965 Platinum board is around 1.90v, right ? if i remember right.
So thats why i ask now. My new ram i bought called Cellshock. saw a test that they was overclocked to 1200Mhz
But apart from that. On the ram packet it said. 4-4-4-12 Cas4 2.21v to 2.2v
Then i chanced the BIOS from stock 1.90v to 2.2v ofcause..  But thats what i'm wondering about now.
Someone one here said. Dont change the Ram voltage ???  Shoulden i do it when my ram specs tells me ?

i know raised the FSB to 295FSB still with the ram manuel to 4-4-4-12 2T and it still shows 2:3  3-4-4-12 2T in CPU-Z
I wonder. is a lower CAS latenchy better than a higher ? from what i read around. a lower number is better, is it ?
that means. 3-4-4-12 would be better than 4-4-4-12 and even better than 5-5-5-18   YES ?  or
i'm just still wondering. How come when i set the timing in BIOS manuel to 4-4-4-12 and ram to 800mhz in Cell menu, how come
it shows op in CPU-Z as 3-4-4-12 ? shoulden it stay on 4-4-4-12 when i set it to that.

can be BIOS bug. suggest you to keep 4-4-4-12 to catch more mem. freq. if its possible

    Hi all,
I have run with the above hardware specification since Jan 2007 without experiencing any hardware problems at all. Two weeks ago I upgraded the CPU from an E6700 dual-core to a Q9550 quad. I was a little concerned about doing this, because the P965 supports a max FSB of 1066 and the Q9550 is rated at 1333. In any case, I Googled around and found that some flavours of the Q9550 had been tested on my mobo (http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-MSI/P965_Platinum_(MS-238).html) and also MSI list the Q9550 stepping C1 as being compatible so I took the leap.
Early indications were good - Vista detected the new chip and I rebooted when prompted. However, in the space of two weeks I have experienced  around one or two BSODs per day STOP 101 or 124 codes. Hmm!
I have switched back to my trusty E6700 chip and the system is then as solid as a rock. I see 3 possibilities here:
1.The Mobo website (MSI P965) lists the Q9550 stepping type C1 as being compatible. There is no mention of E0 or C0 which seem to be the other two variants. I have no idea which stepping type mine is as the product numbers for the Q9550 chips are all the same (EU80569PJ073N or BX80569Q9550) regardless of whether it is a C0, C1 or E0 stepping. Is there any way to tell which on I have - I tried with CPU-Z but didn't spot the stepping type? In any case, could this be the problem or am I off-base?
    2. It's possible I have a faulty chip. How likely is this do you think? I could ask for a swap with Novatech but could be back in the same boat, and they will reject the return unless it is 'proven faulty'.
    3. I need to mod the clocking on my rig to support the Q9550. If so, can anyone advise on what I should do?
I doubt the problem is caused by an OS factor as I ran some tested in an XP pre-boot environmet and still got the lock-ups.
What should I do? i don't really want to ebay the chip at say a £50 loss if i can help it.
    Many thanks in advance.

No, the OEM Order Code is different, and the sSpec Number also.
