New ink cartrige problem

I installed a new HP ink cartridge for my LaserJet 1200 series. First I don'tknow how to print a test page. The big problem is I have ink all over the page. Looks like a page from the Outer Limits.

I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/
I hope this helps.
Your best option at this time though would be to contact HP Tech Support.

  • New ink cartridge problem

My black ink cartridge needed replaced. I put the new one in and when I printed the test sheet it had only black and no color on it. I get a message it cannot be calibrated. I have never got this before. Any suggestions?

Hello ,  I may be able to help you with the colour printing issue on your Photosmart D110. Usually the calibration the printer wants to complete is the alignment. The alignment page needs all colours and black to complete successfully. When was the last time you replaced your colour ink cartridge? If you believe it does have ink, you could try the steps in Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP Photosmart e-All-in-One. Please Note: HP recommends that you use genuine HP ink cartridges. HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP ink cartridges or refilled HP ink cartridges. If you do not use genuine HP ink cartridges, the steps in this post might not resolve the issue you experiencing. You could also see how non-HP supplies compare to refilled or remanufactured cartridges from the Buyers Lab Report.
I would also suggest reviewing the Limited Warranty for HP Ink Cartridges and Customer-Replaceable Printheads for HP Inkjet Supplies.  Please let me know if any of these steps resolved your issue, or if there is anything else I can do to help.  I look forward to hearing from you!  Thanks,

  • HP officejet Pro L7580 ink cartridge problem

I have read some other posts from people that seem to be having this same problem, but have not seen any answers on how to fix it.  I have recently bought a new ink cartridge that contains both the black and yellow ink.  When I put the new cartridge in the message center displays that the ink is still empty.  This is a printer that i use at work and it is becoming very frustrating, especially when I am trying to print and it won't let me because it thinks the ink is empty. Any help would be appreciated!

I don't think there are any ink cartriges for this printer that contain yellow and black ink.  This printer has 4 "ink cartriges" for black, magenta, yellow and cyan.  It also has two replacable "print heads" which are only responsible for depositing the ink on the paper.  These replacable print heads each do two colors and black/yellow is one of them so it sounds like you probably bought a replacement head instead of replacement ink.  You need to buy this type of cartrige:

  • How can I get my HP DeskJet 6540 to recognize the new ink cartridges I installed?

Hi everyone. I have an HP DeskJet 6540 printer and I replaced the ink cartridges. After I replaced the cartridges, I aligned them and then did a test print. I noticed that the blank ink didn't print. I opened system preferences, and then I opened the printer utility. It says, "Device Status : Pen Failure." Current Supplies Levels says, "The current levels for the selected printer are shown below...Cartridge on the left (tri-color 97) is unknown and the the cartridge on the right (black 96) is missing." Oh, I forgot to mention that the print cartridge light on the left side is flashing. I went to the HP support website and it says that the problem could be an incorrect print cartridge, incompatible print cartridge, or problem with the (left/right) print cartridge.  The solution they offered was to remove, inspect and reseat the problem cartidge. It also said to clean the problem cartridge contacts. I did that and it still gives me the same results. I even reset the printer but still got the same results...
So the next thing I try is the OTHER cartridges listed as compatible with my printer which is 94 (black) and 95 (tri-color). I bought the new cartridges, placed them in the printer and I still got the same message from the print utility. I took the latter cartridges back and got a refund and explained that none of the compatible cartridges are working with my printer. I kept the 96 and 97 cartridges in the printer and the light on the left continues to flash so now I'm here asking if anyone knows how I can get my printer to recognize the new ink cartridges I installed?  Are there any other solutions that I have besides throwing the printer out of the window? :-)
    Thanks everyone ;-)

With all that you have done it does sound like the printer has a fault. If you haven't tried turning off the printer for several minutes, then this would be worth trying (maybe you have done this when you say reset the printer?).
If the cartridge light on the printer flashes when you turn the printer back on then it sounds like a hardware fault - not the driver or the operating system. And this is not usually something a user can resolve so it would need repair. And for the cost of a new printer, why would you bother.
If you plan of sticking with HP and getting another model that can use the 96 & 97 cartridges (let's face it, they often cost more than the new printer), then take the two existing cartridges to the store and see if they will let you check they are okay. No point throwing them out also if they still have a fair bit of ink still in them.

  • Officejet Pro 6830 e-All-in-One Ink Cartridge Problem Message

Have/will soon "had" instant ink cartridge service.  Printer did not recognize that the black ink was out so I didnt get a black ink cartridge.  Couldnt wait for the mail service, so purchased all new HP cartridges and installed.
"Ink Cartridge Problem" Message came up and is now stuck in the machine, can't clear it.  The machine will not recognize any of the 4 brand new HP inks; that menu item has little red X for each cartridge and each one shows empty.....
Removed all cartridges, cleaned all contacts, unplugged machine, did a "reset" on the menu via HP phone technician.....nope, nada, nothing.
Did all above SEVERAL times.   Called HP back..."40 minutes wait time" .. wth...
Anything else?  Does HP have to reset my machine to "recognize" regular cartridges???
Thoughts, suggestions?  (Besides don't buy HP again....I will not....I should know better by now!)
    Thanks all.

  • Why won't printer acknowledge new ink cartridges

i have windows 7 (64 bit).. HP Officejet 6500 Wireless..  I can print from computer and can copy ok  but i have changed all ink cartridges and the printer isn't seeing that it has new ink.. it shows all colors are out?

I think you have the wrong forum.
    I'll answer anyway.
Are the new cartridges new original HP cartridges?  If not they might not report ink levels correctly.

  • How do you clear Error Message 3100? After installing the New inks, On NEW 'Canon MX432' Printer

Have NEW ‘Canon MX432’, (1)-followed the instructions to set language without problem, next step, checked for the Set ink cartridge Message, (2)-and then opened the Paper Output Tray and the Paper Output Cover.
On the second try; (3)-the Head Cover opened automatically, (4)-then lowered the Color Ink Cartridge Lever, (5)-Unpacked the FINE Cartridge and remove the protective tape, (6)-then Inserted the FINE Cartridge straight in until it stopped, (7)-and lifted the Color Ink Cartridge Lever.
Next did the same steps (8) - (9) - (10)- (11)-to the Black Cartridge, next (12)-Closed the Paper Output Cover.
*** Should I have waited and lifted both Levers at the same time? ***
(13)-Waited for printer, (14)-got error Message; ”Printer Error occurred”, then the numbers; “5100”.
Have tried unplugging the printer a few minutes and repeating the steps from the start to no avail.
Next will go buy new Ink and try again or return this Canon MX432 Printer, for a different Model.
Do not want to install new Ink Color and Black Cartridges until I understand the problem solution.
Have used Canon products for over 30 years never had this problem or any problems with their products which could not be resolved by me.
    Steps Followed:
*** Do you see a problem with these steps taken? ***
    (1)- Set language
Waited for the “Set ink cartridge” Message
(2)- Opened the Paper Output Tray and the Paper Output Cover
    (3)-The Head Cover opened automatically
(4)-Lowered the Color Ink Cartridge Lever
(5)-Unpacked the Color FINE Cartridge and remove the protective tape
(6)-Inserted the FINE Cartridge straight in until it stopped
(7)-Lifted the Color Ink Cartridge Lever
(8)-Lowered the Black Ink Cartridge Lever on the left
(9)-Unpacked the Black FINE Cartridge and remove the protective tape
(10)-Inserted the Black FINE Cartridge straight in until it stopped
(11)-Lifted the Color Ink Cartridge Lever
    (13)-Closed the Paper Output Cover
*** Should I have waited and lifted both Levers at the same time? ***
    (13)-Waited for printer
(14)-Got error Message: ”Printer Error occurred”, then the numbers; “5100”

    Hi Anselmo_MSW!
It looks as though you have followed the correct steps and no, you do not need to lift up both levers at the same time.
The error code 5100 indicates that an internal error has occurred which may be resolved by resetting the printer.  Please follow these steps for isolating and resetting the printer:
    1.  Open the printer's front cover, and then open and close the print head lock lever (do not remove the print head).
    2.  Make sure all ink tanks are seated properly.
    3.  Make sure all packing materials have been removed.
    4.  Make sure no paper is jammed in the printer.
    5.  Disconnect the printer cable from the printer.
    6.  Close the front cover and turn the printer off.
    7.  Unplug the printer from the power source, and then plug it back in after five minutes.
    8.  Power on the printer.
If the error returns, the printer will require service options.  I realize you have just purchased this and wanted to let you know that this is not the normal operation of our printers.  What I would recommend is contacting a Canon Representative using the following link to learn of your service options.  Contact Us.

  • My HP2575 give's "Ink Cartridge Problem - Remove and check cartridge on right"-error

    Hello,
I have a HP photosmart 2575 all-in-one. For just a couple of month's I use my black 339 cartridge and suddenly it give the error "Ink Cartridge Problem - Remove and check cartridge on right", with means the black cartridge. I always use original HP cartridges and have never filled them by myself or other people. Because the expire date is just a couple of weeks late, HP won't support me.  For now I put a new cartridge in the printer, with works fine. How can I solve this problem with my cartridge? It has enough ink for many prints to make, so I don't like to throw that away. I hope you can help me with tis matter.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Epson multifunctional SylusCX5600 after 10.6.2 install needs new ink weekly

Installed Snow Leopard 10.6.2 on January 28. Two problems: every time I hit print, the printer makes an awful loud noise and shuts off. I turn it back on, go through the motions, and it prints fine usually.
Bigger problem: it constantly needs new ink. I hardly print anything! I had changed 2 cartridges mid January. Now I had to change all 4 in the last 2 weeks, and today it tells me my red one is empty and needs changing. There is no ink leaking into the printer or anything, so it must be an error message, but I cannot print if the printer tells me I have to change a cartridge, at $15 a piece.
Printer driver is Gutenprint v5.2.3 which came with Snow Leopard.
    No problems scanning.
Has anyone else experienced this and can anyone suggest a fix or workaround?
I appreciate it as I am going broke changing cartridges here.
PS I live in Latin America, the CX5600 is not available in the US but the CX 5400 is which is similar.
    Thanks!

This morning, also the black ink is "out"... which I changed on Friday. Printed 2 pages of text over the weekend... Updated to Gutenprint 5.2.5 but that obviously did not help...

  • HP 932 XL - new ink and blank pages

My problem is quite complex - I am a new user of HP 6700. I bought the printer second-handed - it was relatively new though - only 700 pages printed. There were almost used setup inks inside. I printed a test page and it was alright. I figured that everything was OK with the printer and ordered original HP 932 XL.
When I got it, one thing had disturbed me - when I opened the box I noticed that the cartridge wasn't protected with anything - no safety plastic, no stickers, nothing.  My first question - is  that usual with the 932 ink? My previous printer was HP 3070 and the cartridges were always secured with safety plastic.
After installing the cartridge, it was recognized as original and full, but when I wanted to print something - blank pages. I've tried printhead cleaning several times and sometimes on those test pages something black had appeared but it was unreadable.
Then I again installed the almost used setup ink and it printed yet another page with the proper quality. Then again I installed the "new" ink, and nothing. I used almost a third of the new ink for printhead cleaning and still nothing.
So I wonder - is that a problem with the new cartridge or may that be a problem with the second-hand printer that I bought?

    Hi @pablo12000,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I am sorry to hear that your new HP 6700 is printing blank pages with your new ink cartridges, but I am happy to help!
I would recommend going through this guide, Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink for the HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-....
If that does not resolve the issue, and the printer prints fine with the setup cartridges and not the new ones, then it is mostly likely an issue with the new cartridges. • Brand new ink cartridges, cleaned, still not printing

Recurring problem on this printer, nothing helps.  Brand new ink cartridges, cleaned the inkheads twice, read though solutions for de-clogging the vents.  Able to print documents fine this morning, now---nothing.  Black ink not printing.  Frustrating, this is a recurring problem and am tired of going through more ink.  Ran alignment, just says "alignment failed" but no solutions offered/no troubleshooting given.  Suggestions?

    Hi @OL5,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that your HP Photosmart is not printing black. I am sorry to hear this, but happy to help!
For further assistance, I will need to know:
The Product/Model Number of your printer. Follow instructions in this link. Finding Your HP Product Model Number.
If the printer is connected, Wireless, or USB.
If the power cable is plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.
If you are using genuine HP ink cartridges, or refills.
Once I know this information, I will be happy to do some further research for you.

  • Officejet Pro 8610 won't accept new ink levels

I love my new printer but of course, I have run into problems.  Once I was warned about ink levels in some of my cartridges getting low, I went online and purchased brand new HP brand replacements.  The printer report confirms they are HP despite getting some sceptisicm from a tech agent about the authemticity of the ink since I didn't purchases directly from HP.
In any case, I know how to replace the ink cartridges and have done so for the 2 colours needing  the change - cyana and black.  Now, the printer does not recognises that it has new full cartidges.  The printer keeps warning me that the cyan and black are critically low.  Eventually, I expect it will stop printing full stop.
This is annoying.  It seems like some kind of sensor issue and the printer is not getting the signal.
I have shut down the computer and printer altogther and rebooted both, no luck.
I have done another alignment and then shut off and on again (both computer and printer).
Nothing seems to work.  Please help and don't tell me I need to buy new ink cartirdges again.  They clearly WORK as I can print with them but the pronter WILL NOT RECOGNISE the new full ink levels.  I need to know the levels in order to know when to purchase more ink in time for the next dry out.

    Hey @CanadaMona,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you with resolving the cartridge detection issues that you're experiencing on your HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer. I understand that you have already replaced the black and cyan cartridges to no avail. This issue does sound like it may be a printhead issue. The printhead is what reads your cartridges and controls the ink for going on the paper. If the printhead is defective it can cause issues with detecting cartridges. I'm going to run you through some troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.
    Step 1: Check the Printhead:
    1. Place your fingers into the slot on the left side of the printer, and then pull to open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves to the left side of the printer. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before you proceed.
1 - Slot for opening the cartridge access door
    2.  To the right of your black cartridge you will see the grey printhead latch. Please lift that latch.
    3. Grasp the sides of the printhead, and then lift the printhead and pull it toward you to remove it. Please leave the cartridges in the printhead while you remove it.
    4. With the printhead removed, close the cartridge access door.
    5. Power off the printer.
    6. Power the printer back on. Once the printer comes on it will give you an error indicating that the 'printhead is missing' or that the 'cartridges are missing or damaged'. At this point, open the cartridge access door.
    7. Reinstall the printhead.
    8. Ensure that you snap the printhead latch back down to lock the mechanism in place.
    9. Close the cartridge access door.
Is the low ink message still displaying on the front panel of the printer?
If so, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Clean the cartridge contacts:
Find a clean, lint-free cloth (eyeglass wipes or coffee filters work well) that you can use to clean the cartridge contacts.
Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
Place your fingers into the slot on the left side of the printer, and then pull to open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves to the left side of the printer. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before you proceed.
     Open the cartridge access door
1 - Slot for opening the cartridge access door
Push in on the front of the problem cartridge to release it, and then pull the cartridge toward you to remove it from its slot.
Remove the problem cartridge from its slot
With a clean, lint-free cloth (eyeglass wipes or coffee filters work well), wipe the copper-colored contact on the cartridge.
     Copper-colored contact on the cartridge
Carefully reinsert the cartridge into its slot, and then push the cartridge forward until it clicks into place.
NOTE: Make sure that the colored dot on the cartridge label matches the colored dot on the carriage slot.
Insert the cartridge into its color-coded slot
Repeat these steps for the other cartridges, if necessary.
    Close the cartridge access door.
    Close the cartridge access door
Please let me know if the steps I've provided resolve your issue. Good luck!
