Nightmare dealing with Verizon Prepaid

I ordered a CPO IPhone 4 16GB CPO online.  The first time I made a call - to Verizon to activate account- there were issues with the calling feature of the phone, i.e. the receiving party could not or barely could hear me.  What happened next was a Customer Service nightmare.  After days of  calling, getting stuck in the never ending automated loop, getting disconnected, being transferred from dept to dept, being given different info. by different people, I finally arrived at what I BELIEVE to be the correct info.   Verizon will not send a replacement phone for the broken one.  My options are to A) go into my local store and buy another one.  But since the local stores cannot sell the 4, it would cost me another $100 to upgrade to the 4s.  (Please note, Verizon:  Not my fault you sent me a broken phone)  B) Send the phone back to them, have them process it for repair, make any necessary repairs or exchanges, then wait for it to come back to me.  All the while I am without a phone (Again, Verizon, not my fault you sent me a broken phone) C) Order/purchase another phone, activate with my current # (the one I have had for YEARS and just ported into Verizon 2 days ago), and then ship back the broken phone for refund - but OH, YEA! when the broken phone is received at Verizon, they will disconnect the line and I will be issued a new number by Verizon. (Verizon, do you understand it is not my fault you sent me a broken phone?)  The Customer Service I have received over the past few days has been horrible.  I will say, though, that except for the two women I spoke with near the end of this experience (one of which was an Internet Order Sales Manager) everyone has been understanding of my frustration. (Two of them got frustrated themselves after getting the same experience with they tried to help me by transferring me to the right dept and getting stuck in the same loop of auto system and transfers.)  I have told all of them that my frustation it not with them, but with the Verizon Prepaid system.  The Manager I spoke to actually accused ME of being unprofessional - after everything I have been through with Verizon??? I'm unprofessional??  I have opted for option #4) port my number back to Straighttalk Plan with Verizon towers, who has always done what they said and given me good customer service, and who I only left in order to get a "good deal" on a CPO Iphone 4.  Now I am at Verizon's mercy while I wait to see if Verizon will charge me a restocking fee.  Before you buy a Prepaid Verizon service, I suggest you check them out Straighttalk FIRST, or USCellular.  You don't hear a lot about them but they have as good a coverage as Verizon or better, at least in my area, have excellent customer service, good prices, AND they have Iphones. I was with them for over 10 yrs previously. Now that Verizon no longer has the monopoly on IPhones, there are a lot of good options available. This has been a nightmare and has cost me 3 days of my life (did I mention that it wasn't my fault Verizon sent me a broken phone?), yet Verizon feels no responsibility to make this right.  Their policies and endless automated loops, which sometimes end with "sorry you are having trouble.  Goodbye" after being in the loop and on hold for eternity- indicate what little respect they have for their Prepaid Customers.

Keep us posted on the FBI's response.  Frankly I'm on the edge of my seat.

  • Is there a better way to deal with Verizon and my DSL issues?

My family and I have been with Verizon for as long as we've had broadband internet. For the past 5 years or so the internet has been shaky at best. For the most part it works, but a coupe times a year it stops working all together or becomes VERY intermittent (and is usually working by the time I get finished sitting on hold and the test the technician runs shows no problems). Every time I have to wrestle with the "tech support" on the phone and listen to a recording tell me the same things over and over again that never fix my problems.
Every time my internet gets to this point, it requires a visit from a Verizon technician. Usually they go out into the neighborhood and find a length of cable and replace it. Usually that fixes my issues for a while, but I know it will happen again. It always happens again.  It seems to me that the entire length of line that my internet runs through is old, and needs to be replaced. Instead of fixing the problem before it actually becomes a problem, Verizon continues to leave me and my family without service for periods of time.
Last week was the most recent time we dealt with this situation, which was fortunately short lived (Only all day Sunday, into Monday when the technician arrived). It's getting VERY tiring dealing with this situation over and over again, and it's getting offensive honestly. To hear the tech support person tell me that I will be charged $91 if the problem is found and is inside my house is ridiculous. I would understand if this was the first time this situation had occurred, or if I frequently reported non-issues. But no, I'm simply reporting the same issue that Verizon has failed to fix MANY times before.
Perhaps the most frustrating part of this, is that we've never been compensated for our lost service. Last year we lost service for an entire week. That's an entire week with no internet service at all. After we finally got it back, we spoke with the billing department and they told us that we would be credited for the week we lost service. At this point, we are yet to see any credit for the time we have been without the service we pay for. Perhaps we would have tried dealing with Verizon again to get our weeks credit, but attempting to contact someone in Verizon seems futile. Unless you're calling sales you end up sitting on hold for extended periods of time, only to be bounced from person to person until you get to someone that has no excuse not to pretend to help you.
Unless something changes, this is Verizon's last opportunity to keep our service. We have dealt with the loss of service followed by the insult of attempting to deal with Verizon's customer support for the last time. Next time it happens (and I'm sure there will be a next time) unless Verizon shows us that they are actually going to correct the problem, we will cancel our service and give our business to the competitor. This post is being written for a few reasons. I'm hoping that perhaps Verizon can give me a better way to contact someone locally when we have a problem (I would LOVE to speak with a regional manager, or even a local manager of some sort), or at least recognize that there is a problem that will end up costing them money.
    Thank you,
    A long time customer.

I've decided to give up the fight and go to another provider.  I have work to do and having to wait at speeds slower than dial up is insane.  At least with dial up I'd have some stability.  I can't even run speedtest because it won't connect.  At hotels, wi-fi, and hanging by blackberry the laptop works fine but to actually use dsl, nope.  Multiple machines and multiple browsers - it's all the same worthless bandwidth.
If they won't give you fios then there is no reason to stay.  They've been promising me the service is coming for the last 6 years.  They could have run it here by now for the postage they've spent trying to get me to switch to it even though it isn't available.  Waste, waste, waste ....

  • Can i use my old phone with verizon prepaid plans

I bought a prepaid gophone from AT&T some months ago. But now I want to test how good Verizon's coverage is. Can I use this old phone I bought from AT&T's website (a Pantech Link) with Verizon's pay as you go plan? Or do I have to buy a phone from Verizon?
    Thanks,
    Timothy

Verizon Wireless and ATT use two different networks for their voice services. The GSM phone from ATT won't work on the CDMA network used by Verizon Wireless. You need a Verizon Wireless branded device.

  • Dialing internationally with Verizon Prepaid Plan

I have a Verizon prepaid plan. Is it possible to place international calls using my plan? if Yes, then how much it will cost ?

No, you cannot place international calls on a prepaid.

  • If I bought a Lumia 822 from Amazon. Can I use it with Verizon prepaid  plan? Thanks

I just bought a Motto G but I am a Windows person. So I was looking on Amazon to see if they sell a Windows prepaid phone they don't, but I found an new 822 that I like. It a Verizon phone. Wondering if I bought that and a sim card (says it don't come with one) will Verizon activate it to my prepaid plan. Thank you.
Edit: I really want an Icon but I don't think I can afford that and I don't want to be tie down with an contract.

        GamerSDG,
That's an excellent question to have! The Nokia Lumia 822 is supported by our Prepay Services. Please reach out to our Prepay Department at 1-888-294-6804 for details on how you will be able to activate that phone in place of your current Moto G.

  • Worst Part of My Dad's Death Has Been Dealing with Verizon

My Dad died in November after struggling for months with brain cancer.  He had been incapacitated for months before his death and had no money at the time of his death.  I have been going through his mail and notifying the utility companies and other providers of my Dad's death.  All immediately express condolences and, at most, request a copy of his death certificate before writing off his last bill.  On the other hand, there is Verizon.  I have been on the phone for approximately five hours with "customer service" about his account.  I have been told multiple times that my Dad would not be receiving anything further or that I'd be getting a call back with more information.  Today, my deceased Dad received a letter from a debt collector for the Verizon amount outstanding (its about $150).  I told them of his passing. They said, "No problem we won't call or send anything else out...just call and let Verizon know."  I did that again today and now I'm on the Verizon customer service merry go round again....been on hold for fifteen minutes as I type this message.
I'm so frustrated I just had to get this information out somewhere.
    What a joke.

I would Google Verizon's Legal Department address let's see I found this web site with the address.

    Hopefully this will help you.

  • My misadventures with Verizon FIOS

FIOS recently became available to my building, a 125 apartment condo.  A salesperson,{edited for privacy}and an accomplice, came to sign up new accounts and they had a field day.  The only competition is Comcast and residents were eager to be free of their evil clutches.  [management won't allow satellite, probably illegal.]  The lobby was crowded with potential customers and I asked Sheridan to call me cuz I didn't have time to wait.
He called from his car phone and signed me up on his drive home!  I told him my needs:  least expensive and no frills TV to be used with TiVO (requiring a cable card) and fast internet, 25mb.  He seemed unhappy that he couldn't sell me more but I knew what I wanted.  He said he'd sign me up for the Spanish package, La Complexion, or something like that, because it was the only no frills package.  I told him no hablo espanol, but that seemed to be no problem.  Installation would be the upcoming Saturday.
Okay, I could go on endlessly here, but the installation date was completely botched by Sheridan, not to mention he didn't return calls or emails.  ["I'm not just here to sell you the service, I'll always be here to help with any problems."  Yes, he said that!
The installer came out the following Saturday even though Sheridan told me there was no way the installation could be done until further notice because there were issues with the wiring.  It's a good thing I was home, well, maybe not.
Meanwhile, I never got any paperwork or an exact cost, only an estimate.  The installer did a good job and got the job done in 2 hours.  The first sign of a problem was when he asked which phone I wanted to hook up.  Huh?  I didn't ask for phone service.  The installer said he didn't have access to what plan I had, which didn't seem to be an issue.  Next sign of a problem was when I was able to get all the premium channels.  Sheridan seemingly signed me up for a tad more than I asked for.
I called Verizon to figure out what was going on.  Sales supervisor {edited for privacy} listened with seeming disbelief to my story, sympathized, empathized and apologized profusely, and said he would call back in 2 days.  Stupid me believed him.  I forgot I was dealing with Verizon.  He couldn't access my records right then and there since my account was too new and not on the system.  But he did determine I was signed up to the most expensive plan.  It's now 7:30pm and no call from Nick.  Meanwhile, I've had service 3 days and today, no TV.  Tech support couldn't figure out what the problem is and they have to send out a technician.
Can I just say shades of Verizon DSL, the worst customer service nightmare I ever had!  Fortunately, Comcast hasn't disconnected service yet and yes, I'm going back.  I would have thrown out the FIOS modem and router by now but I left my own router at work thinking I was done with it and was going to give it away.  Or maybe I'll keep the Verizon router, it's very nice and I deserve it.  There really is truly something wrong with this company.  I really wish an OTA antenna worked from my apartment, but I think, for now, it's back to the less evil Comcast.

to gsusser: "He called from his car phone and signed me up on his drive home!"
----I personally think cell phones are the worst invention.  That scenario that you described is unfortunate.  Personally, I would only sign up for services by calling the business number if I didn't have the time to wait for a rep in the lobby so then that way, everything can be documented instead of having miscommunication on someone's cell phone while that person is driving....just saying.  Driving while speaking on a cell phone is so dangerous.  I just don't think I would go along with signing up for services in that manner.  In a way, it's understandable how everything got messed up given the way this sales person handled it because without a computer system right there for him to document your order and to create a record, it leaves too much room open for a  "he said/she said" scenario and miscommunication about what you really want.  It sounds to me like he was looking to make more sales by any means necessary, probably due to a sales quota that he was trying to meet.
At this point, before switching back, you could follow through with having a technician to come look at the problem since you have made it this far.  It's only a suggestion and hopefully you could get a 4 hour time frame instead of an all day appointment for that.
I'm going to be sending a written complaint soon to Verizon's corporate office about some other issues I have had with their customer service.

  • How do I port my Verizon Prepaid number to a new Verizon contract?

Right now I have the $35 prepaid plan and I'd like to update to a Maxx HD, which is up on Amazon for $20 with a new contract. However, the Amazon page is telling me that my number is not transferable. I don't know what to do here, can someone help?

I am considering a new post pay account, that was exactly the point of my original post. As I said before, i went to amazon.com, selected a phone, selected a new verizon plan, and put in my current number for a port request (which is with verizon prepaid). Amazon's website informed me that my number cannot be ported, and I don't understand why. So, to recap:
    What I have:
    >a prepaid phone with verizon
    >a number that I want to keep
    What I want:
    >a postpaid account with verizon
    >a razr maxx hd
    >my phone number
    My question:
Why is amazon telling me that my number cannot be ported, when I am going from one plan to another on the same carrier?

  • Does anyone else have this much trouble with Verizon Customer Service?

I cannot get any Verizon Customer Service to answer me through email or correct their errors through their store or through the telephone customer service.  I have written to them three times with no reply back (although it says it will be answered within 48 hours), gone to the Verizon local store, and called them numerous times.
Ever since I purchased three i-pads for my sons as Christmas gifts my life has been nothing but stress while dealing with Verizon and Best Buy while trying to get a jet pack added to our account through Best Buy and trying to straighten the mess out through Verizon.
My bill is so messed up, of course in their favor, and they cannot seem to figure out how to fix it or else they don't want to take the time to fix it.
I own my own business and they should know that you NEVER just IGNORE the customer.  They eventually do go away (to another company).  When a company will not ANSWER complaints...there IS a problem!  I am taking the next channel up.

This is what happened.  I bought the three i-pads at Best Buy because that is where we buy all of our computer products and it didn't occur to me to buy them at Verizon...Hence, that is why it went through a third party.  Later, I found out I would have paid a much higher price, according to a Verizon salesperson,  so I am glad that I didn't.  But anyway...I bought two jet packs with the three i-pads because I didn't think two of my kids had internet connection so of course, I wanted them to be able to use the i-pads when they opened their gift on Christmas.  I have a business account with three smart phones already with Verizon.  The Best Buy salesman attempted to put the two jet packs on my business account, but he said they would not transfer on that account because it was a business account, so he had to open a new individual account and that Verizon would transfer it over to my business account.  Right then, I could see dollar signs.  That is why I went to the Verizon store the next morning (Christmas Eve) to straighten it out before letting it go on any longer.  I explained everything to the sales person and he assured me that he fixed everything.  I explained to him that I wanted to add the two jet packs on to our account...and for them to share our 6 GB of DATA at the present time until we could see how much we used first.    Seems that one of my sons did have internet and he didn't need the jet pack.  I called Verizon and was told to return it to Best Buy and I would not be charged for it since there was NO USAGE of data on that jet pack. We returned that jet pack.  HOWEVER, the wrong jet pack was cancelled.  So the one that was taken back was not cancelled through Verizon (it remained active) and the jet pack that we kept had no service and was cancelled.  Was that Verizon's fault? Or was it Best Buy's fault?  I don't know...but it was not my fault!  My son lives out of town and he had to bring his jet pack in to Best Buy in order to get service on his jet pack reinstated.  So therefore, he went a week without service, yet we were still being charged for two jet packs...$ 50.00 PER jet pack plus they tagged on 5 GB PER jet pack, which is not what we signed up for.  The charge should be $ 20.00 per month to add the jet pack on to our business account.  We are aware that we can contact Verizon *611 to talk to an agent because we have talked to them approximately five times already.  I have emailed them three times with no reply.  I have never had a problem before this, but I never had any issues so never had a reason to contact them or deal with customer service before.  Jimfitzgerald...the reason people deal with a third party is that it saved us $300.00 from Verizon's price and we purchased these for 18 months with no interest.  Had I known that Best Buy and Verizon do not work well together, I might not have ever bought these at all...But we have one jet pack now that we added to our account and still are being over charged for the two jet packs @ 50.00 per jet pack @ 5 GB data each...totally ridiculous.  My son tried to straighten it out and was told by Verizon that we had one of the jet packs since 2011 and the other one since December 2012.  Finally, Verizon said they understood and would straighten it out...But our bill is still wrong.  How do you get them to answer your complaints?  How do you get them to understand?  If I don't pay our incorrect bill, they told me they will cut off our service and they are our business phones.  Suggestions?

  • How Verizon WIreless Deals With A Customer's Issues With A Flawed Device

    (link removed)
Let me start at the beginning…
I have had a bad history with phones during my 6 years I been with Verizon Wireless(VZW). All the phones I had with them always have some manufacturer issues. I either had to pay a deductible or was allowed to exchange it for free due to it still being under warranty.  I had to go through this 14 times in under 6 years. For the most part, Verizon Wireless has been very helpful with these issues & the amazing service they provided as kept me a very loyal customer. These qualities even lead me to sign up for Verizon FiOS over Comcast when I moved into my new apartment.
On February 17th, 2014, I received my tax refund. Most of it was going to repairs for my car, but for a birthday gift to me, I wanted to upgrade my phone. At the time, VZW had a deal to trade in your old phone & upgrade to a new phone. Your trade in got $100 taken off the cost of your new phone. I thought that was a sweet deal since the phone I had, The Motorola Razr Maxx HD was my 4th replacement to replace my original phone from when I first upgrade my phone with a new contract 2 years ago, The Motorola Droid 3. The Razr Maxx HD was a good phone but not what I wanted, It did what it needed to do & the technology was steller. Just not my first choice in a phone.
Since the Droid 3 was no longer in production, i always had to get a replacement phone VZW saw fit for me to get. Now with my contract up & my opportunity to get a new phone, I knew what I wanted   I wanted the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 now. It has so many amazing features, apps & it is the perfect phone for someone my size. I can easily text with it, I do not feel I will crush the phone holding on to it & all of the hardware in it is like nothing on the market at that time. I been researching the phone months before it came out & I knew once I had the money, this is the phone I wanted.
So I went to the VZW Store ready to make the exchange and have a phone I wanted finally for once in nearly 2 years. I got there to be helped my a gentleman named Teddy. He was eager to help me. I told him why I was there & instantly got the ball rolling. My phone I wanted was in stock, I was able to get $100 from the trade-in promotion. HE also informed me I could get a free tablet by just paying the taxes for it, A mere $15 & The Note 3 was on sale. I could walk out this day with a new phone AND a tablet for $172! So I agreed to it & all I had to do was pay. Then the problems started…
I was told I could not pay with my debit card. This was due to an issue of a returned payment. An issue I had with VZW due to their company in October 2013 in which they took 9 days to process my monthly bill payment to only return it when the funds was still available to complete it. So I had to leave the store to find an ATM to withdrawal the cash so I could purchase the phone & tablet. Once I came back, we tried to finish the sale. Now I was told I could not trade in my phone due to the fact VZW did not allow me to make debit payments because of their own error. I was told i could pay full price for the phone and I could not get the tablet. I declined & left the store.
Very upset, I called VZW’s customer service line to formally complain. They could do nothing to help me since no one, not even a supervisor could fix these restrictions to my account. This made me more upset, so I went above their head & reported my situation to The Better Business Bureau(BBB). Within 7 days, a Manager From VZW’s Home Headquarters, named Brian (removed), finally called me to resolve my issues. HE apologized, removed my account restrictions & was sending me A Galaxy Note 3 for my troubles free of charge. I wanted the tablet too but did not care at this point. I just wanted a phone I wanted for once & I can do without a tablet. I never went out of my way to get one before & I was not planning to now.
On February 25, I received my new phone. I instantly fell in love. The phone was the perfect size for me & it worked just like every review I read online said it would. Then on February 27th, the phone began to have charging issues. The factory charging cable that came the the phone began to have issues charging the phone, then not recognizing the charger at all. I called customer service to make a complaint. This is when I learned for the first time that The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has a defect with it’s charging cable & charging the device. They told me I could either mail the cable for a replacement or try to get the replacement at a store. So I decided to go to the same VZW store to get the replacement.
Once I got there, I had to wait in line for 30 minutes to finally speak to someone. Once I did, I was told they had no chargers in store. All that could be done was call Samsung & have a replacement phone sent to me. I asked what would I do for a charger until then & they said I could use the micro USB charger from my last phone to charge it.
So I mailed the charger to Samsung, who said it would take 8-10 days to get my replacement. During this time, the phone began to now stop holding a long charge. So I again called customer service. I was again told to go to the VZW store to get a replacement charger. I went back to the store again to be told they could do nothing for me since I did not have to original charger. All I the could do was sell me a mobile charger for 50% off. Since i need my phone, I had no choice. I had to spend $30 now on a device to help my faulty one.
March 6th, my replacement charger arrived. I was happy because now I can charge my phone with the proper charger & get a full battery life from it. That same day the charger had the same issues again. So i instantly took it to the Verizon Store to be told I need to call customer service for a replacement phone. So I return home to see in my mailbox is my VZW bill. The statement says my bill is $400! Verizon Wireless & Brian (removed) had charged me full price for my phone despite what he told me when he called me.
I instantly called his office to only get his answering machine. I left a very angry yet respectful message explaining my disgust with what he & VZW have done since I got this phone. I said I refuse to pay anything until this issue is fully resolved. I then proceeded to file another complaint to The BBB. This time I would get no response from VZW. Instead i had to call and chat online with their customer service lines for over a month to have a REFURBISHED device, a replacement battery & a generic charging cable sent to me. My phone still has charging issues & I must travel around DAILY with my mobile charger to make it a whole day to be able to use my device.
Verizon Wireless and Brian (removed) will not resolve this issue for me. Instead they have suspended services to my phone and are forcing me to pay the full price for the phone or having my service “permanently discontinued”.
I am left with no choice but to pay this by next month. I need my phone for personal, business & emergency reasons just like everyone else. I can not pay this AND an early termination fee. Verizon Wireless has done nothing to help me & now I am stuck in a contract for the next 16 months with a company that has done this to me during the last 2+ months. I have a improper working phone and they get $400 for it and Brian (removed) gets his commission.
Before I pay this bill, I am making one last complaint to The BBB & I am spreading my story across social media like wildfire, I am hoping someone at Verizon Wireless sees this. MAYBE they will do the right thing. Then again, they had the chance to & have not….
Mr. Brian (removed) & Verizon Wireless,
My Name IS Reginald (removed). Due to months of complaints you should very well know who I am. Since you will NOT help me, I have no choice but to play by your rules and pay you ridiculous cost for a phone despite the act of what I was verbally told. You & your company you work for have had countess times to make this right & you have not. I might have to be stuck in a situation like this, but the entire internet will now learn of your actions & how you treat people. Maybe this will teach you all how to properly treat your paying customers. Someone can still make this right. You have my number, but you would have to reactivate it to contact me though.
    Regards,
    Reginald (removed)

  • Can You Please Help Me with My Prepaid Verizon Extravert Phone

I have a Verizon prepaid Extravert phone.  The phone has a opera mini browser built into it.  I can read and respond to emails from Gmail through the phone.  It is just awkward to use the phone to check and respond to email.  My employer is cutting off access to personal email at the office and that is one of the reasons I purchased this Extravert phone and the prepaid plan with email access.
I would like to know if I can connect my phone to my laptop and use the Verizon connection and the opera mini browser to read and respond to personal emails while at the office.  I basically just want to use the computer because it is easier to read and type with it.
If this is possible, can you explain how I can do it.
Also, on my personal laptop, the Extravert will be recognized for about a minute when I have it connected with a USB cable.  And then the cell phone disapears from my view within My Computer.  Can you explain how I can get this phone recognized by laptop.  Thanks.

Hi nico08,  We want you to be able to get the most out of your phones email capabilities!  While the LG Extravert does not have the capability to tether the data connection to a laptop.  Our Mobile Email application can be a very beneficial feature for you!  Check out your options right through the Messaging section of your device.  If you are currently paying for a data package the app may be included. If not, you can even use Mobile Email ten times without paying the subscription fee but data charges will apply.  Please let me know if you have any additional question.
    Thank you,

Since you have no credit history, my guess is you would need at least a year of on time payments, and I'm not sure a pre-paid account would qualify as you can stop at any time.
You didn't specify your age, but getting started int he credit world is not easy - you may try applying for a gas card, or a credit card, and USE them, pay them off each month - and expect to take a year or more to establish a record.

  • Can I use my old verizon W385 phone from 4 years ago with a prepaid card?

I need to get a phone for my girlfriend for a month and i wondering if i could use a verizon prepaid card with my Motorola w385 phone that i used on my plan several years ago and it is no longer used. So would i be able to activate the prepaid card on it or what?

Yes, that phone is compatible with Prepaid service, but only for the Basic or one of the Daily plans. It is NOT able to go on the $50 unlimited.

  • HT1937 I used to have verizon as my phone carrier. But I don't no more. It's been more 5 months that I don't. I want to start using my iPhone 4 with a prepaid plan. Is that possible. Verizon said I'm not longer listed as their customer.

Verizon offers prepaid service on the iPhone 4. Go into your local Verizon Store with your phone. I'm sure they'll be happy to set you up with service.
