No offers form Storm users? Why even sign a new contract? Thinking of switching to Sprint

I've been a Verizon customer for 4 years. I had been out of contract for 6-7 months just waiting for the new Blackberries to land, I had a Storm 2 and there were talks of a follow up phone since last year. Now I learn Verizon is getting rid of unlimited data plans. They tell me I can keep my 450 mins/unlimited data if I re-sign, but my current plan is more expensive than unlimited data/voice at Sprint . And I guess I can't change the 450 minutes without changing the plan and losing the data. I see no benefit in going back on contract other than getting a device discount and a switch keeps looking better and better. I'm surprised they don't have special plans to keep existing customers. When I spoke to an agent I heard that their network is better and they have better 4g and lte. Torch is not even an lte phone!

I will not even begin to tell you the numerous nightmares that Sprint took me through as a 12yr customer.  I will tell you that right now Sprint customers are posting in forums, facebook pages, etc how they were foolish to stay and not switch to VZ before the unltd data ended for new customers.  Sprint has raised their ETf to 350.00, doubled their upgrade fee to 36.00, split their Premier loyalty program into tiers a year ago, and now are doing away with it completely.  They have shortened their trial period from 30 to 14 days, and are also telling customers that they will now be billed for calls/data use incurred during that period.  Apparently before they were not charging for use during the trial period.  Finally Sprint has made reference to new plans and existing customers, especially those with 4g compatible devices, have noticed that their online account info reflects a calculator for 3G and 4G usage (tiered data anyone).  Sprint has lost a lot of tower coverage in the past few years, mainly due to the VZ acquisition of Alltel and their related towers.  It seems Sprint wants very much to be like Verizon.  If they are going to copy VZ plans/policies, then I would stick with who has the better coverage in your area.

  • Signing a new contract

I cannot seem to get a straight answer on when you are eligible to sign a new contract.  I have found conflicting responses on both this forum (for other questions), through online customer service, and in in a store.
My husband and I are currently 17 and 10 months into our contracts, respectively, and would like to get iPhones.  We certainly cannot afford the full retail price for them, and they are not available "Certified Used," so that is not an option.  We both currently have regular phones (not even a data plan - just the basic family voice plan and text messaging - about $108/month).
I had the impression that our "upgrade dates" (of July 2011 and February 2012) were the dates we could get new phones WITHOUT signing a new contract (month-to-month).  Or are those the earliest dates we can sign a new 2-year contract and purchase iPhones at the discounted pricing?  In other words, someone please help me understand what exactly the "upgrade date" means and how it is related to signing a new 2-year contract.
If we can sign new contracts with Verizon, we'd do that -- otherwise, we'd probably take the hit of the early termination fee and switch carriers.

Or are those the earliest dates we can sign a new 2-year contract and purchase iPhones at the discounted pricing? Yes, that's it exactly. In other words, someone please help me understand what exactly the "upgrade date" means and how it is related to signing a new 2-year contract.
If we can sign new contracts with Verizon, we'd do that -- otherwise, we'd probably take the hit of the early termination fee and switch carriers.  You can each sign a new contract when you reach the upgrade date listed on your account - when Verizon considers your current contract completed enough to give you the option to upgrade and remain with them for another two year term.
The previous poster mentioned the "annual" upgrade - if you are planning on getting the iPhone, then it's a moot point since you can't use it for the iPhone.
It is a benefit offered to the primary line only at 12 months of a 2 year contract signed before Jan 16 or 18 (I can't remember the exact date) 2011.  Contracts signed now do not include this option, and it can't be used for the iPhone.
I hope this has cleared some of the confusion.  I'm not surprised you got differing answers as many store reps and CSR's don't understand the upgrading ins and outs fully either, and just want to SELL, SELL, SELL.

  • Sign a new contract or pay £6.95 if you don't?

I have recently received texts and emails telling me my free BT Sport will end unless I sign a new 1 year contract. If I don't I have been given one other option, I will pay £6.95 a month. NO OTHER OPTIONS. People who care don't make statements like the above, it sounds more like extortion. Where is the option in the communications you have sent so far to actually just not have BT Sport anymore. There are options within my BT account to add and remove other products but not BT Sport.

That's all true nevertheless BT are a pain. Having negotiated a nice price for the next twelve months I decided to leave BTTV. I got Sky. I wanted BT Sports on Sky in order to transfer the service over I had to take out another 12 month contract even although I had renewed just a month before and was only transferring the way I viewed it. I thought that was a bit of an underhand sharp practice.

    Hi c3 cyber club,
Unfortunately FormCentral and Echosign are two different services and forms created in Forms central can only be submitted via and to Forms Central.
We cannot have the form filled in using FormCentral and get it signed using Echosign.
However, you can use Echosign directly and you can get most of the functionality.
    Thanks,

  • User unable to sign document with epad after extending features (Permission Error)

    Here's my situation;
I've provided a form for a user that has an epad to sign the document, the pdf itself has had text and signature fields added in LiveCycle, and within Acrobat Pro 9 the features have been extended. The user is still receiving the following; "The security settings on this document prevent adding text and/or placing a signature on it from Adobe Reader. To fill and sign this document you need to print it out."
What have I missed? From what I've understood in researching this, extending the features in Acrobat Pro should be enough to allow a user in Reader to sign the document.
Can provide file if need be.
    Thanks

Your user should go to Extended pane in Reader to apply a digital signature to the Reader extended PDF.
The user is probably trying to use the Sign pane in Reader which has some options disabled according to the document permissions. The new Sign pane in Reader is an integration with Adobe EchoSign service in the sense that it enables an end user to fill-up documents, electronically sign and then send a PDF document, without having the need to print them. The Sign pane provides two options to the user:
1 - Fill and Sign: Here the user can place text using 'Add Text'. Users can add arbitrary text to a PDF, eg. in documents where Reader cannot interact with the document even though the document looks like a form, in forms where user cannot save the filled-up form. In such cases the only option a user has is to print the form, fill it and then fax or fedex the filled up document to the author or scan it and send it electronically. Using the Sign pane in Reader, a user can add text and also electronically sign the document (this is not the same as digital signature) using an image of their signature. He can create a 'signature' from a scanned paper which has user's handwritten signature and place it on the PDF.
2 - Send for Signature: Here the user is sent to EchoSign for collecting signatures from others.
    Hope that helps.

  • Why the sign-off page Not Displayed when I do SSO Logout ?

    Hi All,
I am using Oracle SSO 10.1.4.1 and OID 10.1.4.1 and registering our ADF application to participate in the SSO.
When I call SSO Logout from the web application with this URL :
    http://myserver:port/pls/orasso/orasso.wwsso_app_admin.ls_logout?p_done_url=http://myserver:port/portal/page/portal/myPORTAL
It just do the Logout "Silently" and then redirect to http://myserver:port/portal/page/portal/myPORTAL.
Doesn't it should firstly display a page that shows the list of all application that will be logged-Off ?
Why that sign-off page does not get displayed ?
    Thank you for your help,
    xtanto

Looking at the product version you mentioned, I assume you are referring to Oracle Access Manager. When you configure a Logout URL, it will just end the session by killing ObSSOCookie and take you to the Logout URL as specified by the Administrator. OOTB, it wont be able to display the list of the applications you will be logged off from. This needs custom development to achieve what you are expecting. First you need to find out what all applications the user is logged in or to what all applications the ObSSOCookie session is passed and then display them on the Logout URL.

  • I did Archive & Install with "preserve users", why do I now have NO users?

After a hard crash on my mom's PowerBook G4 (running 10.4.11) I eventually did an OS 10.4 Archive & Install with "preserve users". I now have NO users, not even an administrator, what should I do?  The only indication I see that anything was remembered is the login screen does say:
    Mac OS X
    Jane Brown's Computer
(But as I recall, there's a bug that sometimes that personalized text sticks around forever once it's set the first time in the OS)
None of the login names or passwords I remember work. I checked using a boot DVD with the "Reset Password" utility, but the only user it sees is "System Administrator (root)".
I can think of 2 options from here, but I'd like advice, or another option. One...I could somehow force Setup Assistant to run (how?), create a new administrator, and then do...some process to get back the one user setup I care about (my mom...her files, etc)?
Or two...I'm not a COMPLETE idiot with Unix (but close)...could I find an old, working Netinfo db and restore it and fix things that way?  I did that years ago, following instructions. I don't know if there is a working Netinfo around though.  In single-user mode I tried "ls" while in /var/backups/ and saw nothing at all.
The history of how/why I did the Install:
My mom's system freaked-out and crashed hard during normal operation (she was just launching AppleWorks)...subsequently all attempts to boot left it at a completely black screen with a single white cursor block in the upper left. No prompt though, and unresponsive to anything I typed, so I wasn't in a normal Darwin. The only way it could be powered-down was to hold down the power key for 10 seconds.
I tried various things...reset PRAM, used "Disk Utility" from a boot DVD (it found no disk problems...though Repair Permissions refused to run, it kept losing connection to the HD), Safe-Booting (which didn't work, it hung with a blue screen, gray Apple logo, no spinning gear), etc. Nothing worked. Booting in verbose mode did go part way, then it stopped with some kind of disk I/O complaint.  I forgot to write it down. My guess, since disk repair found no disk problem, that an OS file was corrupt, and trying to read that resulted in an I/O error.
So I did an Archive & Install with "preserve users".  All seemed to go ok. Until I tried to login.

I followed the steps, the new accounts are there, but they aren't working properly. The primary account worked ok once.
Based on the behavior of 2 accounts (primary admin, + my mom's), even under Safe Boot, it seems like there's something that's failing during login that causes all attempts to login to succeed partway, then crash, and throw me back to re-login.
What happened: I had reset the Netinfo, & created a first admin matching before. After a long time, I got a normal desktop (& it had the desktop icons & Dock layout of the previous primary account).  I created the next 3 users (there were no gaps), and then set it to auto-login to my mom (standard user).
If I Safe Boot so I can try logging-in as the original admin, I get a menubar, a customized Dock (with an odd, empty white square in place of one of the icons), and a spinning beachball against an empty desktop for a while, then it drops me back to the login screen. Same thing if I try my mom's account while Safe Booted.
I have a 2nd admin account, if I try that while Safe Booted, I get a menubar, empty desktop, and an endless spinning beachball. I have to hold down the power key to shutdown.
I tried holding the shift key immediately after login (disable startup items) to see if that helps, but it didn't. Doesn't even seem to work right, because when I boot normally to auto-login to my mom's account, even with shift, her startup item is still launching (a simple app that timestamps a file).
If I don't Safe Boot...it does auto-login to her account, I get a beachball, it slowly builds her entire desktop back just the way it used to be (desktop icons, customized Dock)...then it crashes to a blank blue login type screen and tries all over again, endlessly trying to login, crash, try again. I have to use the power key to force a shutdown.
Force Quit (via the keyboard) never helps in any of the situations, I get no popup window.
I did use Disk Utility again to see if it repaired anything, but all it fixed were a few permissions, which didn't change anything.
What next? What would you suggest now?  They're almost working. Is there a log I can examine in single-user mode that would tell me what's failing during login? Should I reset the Netinfo db again and re-create users? Do I need to install again? Preserving or not-preserving users?

  • Why even use iphoto?

My first experience with iphoto, it corrupted all of my picture files. Luckily I had them all saved on an external harddrive, so I didn't lose them. But many people don't do that and the risk of them losing all of their picture files using iphoto is high. And yes, I tried all of the things listed to rebuild the file and none of them worked. I spoke with tech support and they confirmed that all of my files were corrupted and useless.
So with the fact that the program is unstable and that it uses a system of "Aliases" that makes it impossible to locate your files outside of iphoto, or make any changes to them outside of iphoto... why even use it? It seems to me like it's set up solely to force the user into using only mac products.
Since it destroyed all of my files, I just keep my photos in folders that I created that make sense to ME and I use the program that came with my digital camera to edit them. If I need to look at them, I can see them in the Preview application.
Is there some other reason I should be using iphoto?

I posted because I have a question: why use iphoto? I want to hear someone tell me exactly why they use it and what they love about the program so I can figure out how I can use it to its fullest potential. Please, someone help me understand.
I'll tell you my story, in case it helps answer this question. Keep in mind that iPhoto has many capabilities, and each person can use it in a different way. Here I describe how I use it, past and present.
Pre iPhoto: After my first child was born I got a digital camera and a hand-me-down Mac. I uploaded photos to the hard drive and moved them around in the Finder. I renamed my files to try to help me remember the subject of the photos, tried to organize folders. I got Photoshop Elements and began editing. Then I had to keep edited photos separate from the unedited photos, to somehow know which was which. Some I downsized and uploaded to a sharing website. I needed to know which photos had been shared, so I kept them in another set of folders. If I printed or used photos in a project, I needed them in folders.
This led to rather a mess of folders, all using space in my hard drive. Say I had a photo, knew it was edited, wanted the original... could I find it? I tried managing the photos by date, but ended up with the same photos in different locations. It was very difficult for me to search the different file structures (all set up by me) and find the best version of a particular photo - I organized and reorganized many times, fighting an uphill battle.
Skip ahead to my next hand-me-down Mac, which had iPhoto. I imported my folders of photos. Now I could see them quickly without opening in Preview. It was easy to determine which were duplicates and keep the best one. I got all my images in one easy place and used it only to view my photos. Not knowing any better, I looked in the iPhoto Library folder and found lots of nested numeric folders. Many were empty. It seemed messy, so I consolidated (OOPS) those nasty folders. When I returned to iPhoto, my photos had been replaced with blank placeholders. This brought me to the Apple Discussions, where I learned the golden rule of iPhoto (and any database application): don't change things through the Finder. I put those folders all back and restored the links to all of the photos. It took some time, but I learned a valuable lesson.
Next Mac, iPhoto 5. I had many more photos in my library, since I didn't have to worry about how to file them. I even found all my old picture CDs and imported them to my library. I organized my Film Rolls and preferred film roll view to any other because it gave me a clear picture of my photo inventory. Need that photo from the baby's 2nd birthday? Just scroll to the roll, since rolls are basically chronological. My library was still relatively small and easily manageable.
Then I began to use Albums, but only for special projects. How do I know which photos were cropped 4 x 6 and printed? Because I collected them in an album. Since albums use practically no disc space, this was a great solution. Want to see the best photos from a special birthday? Smart albums are great. I only had to rate the photos, then set up a smart album based on rating and date. Then I could see my best pics from important events. From that, decide which to edit, print, upload, etc.
I had learned how to use Photoshop Elements 3 and was a much improved photo editor. However, I still used the Elements browser to open photos for editing. I saved my edited versions to folders outside of my library and managed them myself. I began to have that old problem of how to locate the best photo...
Bring in the iLife '06 upgrade. Around the same time I upgraded to Elements 4. I thought Bridge was cool, but I couldn't easily browse my iPhoto Library to open a photo. It was very difficult to predict whether the photo I wanted was in Originals or Modified. I came back to the Discussions and read the advice here: +use iPhoto to open the photos for editing in Elements+. It seemed strange at first, but after adding a keyword to identify photos that I have edited in Elements (means I took more time with them) I adjusted to the new workflow. I could edit my photos, identify the edited versions, and know that my originals were still safe if I should need them. No more stragglers and extra duplicates.
After using the one keyword with success, it occurred to me how useful they can be. I went through my entire library and added keywords to the photos. Want to see all photos of my daughter? Just click her name in the keyword pane, and the library is instantly filtered. If I need both kids in the photo, I just click to add his keyword to the filter. Want to exclude myself? (I usually do) Just Option-click my keyword and photos with me are removed from the sort. Need to filter by a special event? Click the birthday or Christmas keyword. It's amazing how many combinations there are using keywords alone. These days I rarely set up Smart Albums, since I can click on keywords for fast, flexible groupings of photos.
I remember my photos by when they were taken. Mostly. But my library keeps growing, and my memory keeps shrinking (alas). So there's the calendar tool. It filters the library by year, month, week, or date. One choice not enough? Shift-click to select a range or command-click to select non-adjacent items. Here's a really cool one: Option-click in the calendar tool to see that time range for every year in the library. Great for finding annual events, even if they aren't keyworded. *It's just so easy to filter the library in different ways, and it doesn't affect the underlying organization of my library.* That's one of the more fun aspects of iPhoto for me - I feel like I have endless flexibility in how I view and group my photos, yet I always go back to my photo inventory in film roll view.
Although I set up iPhoto to open Elements when I double-click, I can still edit in iPhoto by clicking the full-screen edit mode icon in the lower toolbar. This is convenient for a quick crop to a particular aspect ratio. Sometimes Elements is unable to correct the red-eye in a photo, and iPhoto 6 does it better. Elements only has an auto-correct, and when it fails, it fails. In iPhoto 6 there's a trick that turns the cursor into a circle, which can then be placed over the pupil and sized, to precisely define the area for red-eye correction. iPhoto 7 did one better and made this tool easy to access.
Here's a real example of how iPhoto worked for me. Last week we had a death in the family - an aunt. It was sudden, unexpected, and caught us all off-guard. There wasn't much I could do to comfort the family. But I have pictures in my Mac. I quickly filtered my library to locate all my photos of our aunt. I created an album and moved the worthy pictures into it. From the album, I went through and edited in Photoshop Elements. (That part took the longest.) I cropped them all to print dimensions. I printed the best one at 5 x 7 and placed into a frame as a gift. I selected the entire album for printing, loaded the photo paper in my printer, and cranked out a set of 4 x 6 borderless prints that look as good as drug store prints. I placed the prints in a little album and took it to the memorial service. Her daughter had never seen those photos and was touched, so I gave her the album. After all, to recreate it for my kids I only have to select the iPhoto Album, load my printer, and crank out another set.
Another example: One Spring Break I took my kids on a trip to visit my grandparents. While there, we all went to a museum of log cabins and windmills. I took lots of pictures at the museum, figuring I'd make a scrapbook. When I got home I wanted to share my pictures with my grandparents, but didn't want to have to create 2 scrapbooks. So I made a book in iPhoto which told the story of our day at the museum. I ordered one for us and one for my grandparents. It could have taken me weeks to complete a paper album; I did the iPhoto book in a day or two. They were thrilled to receive it, and they still think I am some sort of computer genius. I keep telling them iPhoto made it easy, but they have a PC and just don't get it. That's okay - it's fun being a genius in their eyes.
I hope my rambling answers your question about why I use iPhoto. I also hope that it is not just an endorsement, but answers some of your +technical questions+ about how to use iPhoto. That is, after all, the purpose of this forum. If you have any questions about how I achieved anything that I described here, by all means ask.
    Regards.

    1. Yes it is helpful, but I would limit the choice to the latest version supported by Apple, because it's being tested with their apps. You can download them running "Software Update" from the Apple menu. If it doesn't propose any Java update, you are already running the latest one
    2. I am not aware of any. Other people may. I know of some applications that supposedly make downloads faster, but they often cause problems with Safari.

You need to use LiveCycle (PC Only) to create a dynamic form like that.
The best you can do with Acrobat to view all of the text in a field is to set the field to multiline, and set the size to "Auto" (If you don't set the size to 'Auto', you can enter as much text as you wish, but the user will need to use the scrollbar to view all of the text.)

I have windows 8.1 and cannot access itunes store even creating a new apple id. With other users on the same computer I can access itunes store. How can I solve this?

i had the same problem before using a fresh install of Windows 8.1.  I have resolved this issue by running the program compatibility wizard.  This I did by right-clicking on the iTunes icon in the desktop, selecting Troubleshoot compatibility, waited for it to detect compatibility issues and when presented with the following options: 1.) Try recommended settings; 2.) Troubleshoot program, I chose the latter.  When asked what problems I noticed, I checked the following: "The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won't install or run" and "The program requires additional permission"
After that, it tired to resolve the issue, and provided the necessary settings to run iTunes.  Now it's running flawlessly.  I have Avast anti-virus installed though.
