No phone/broadband for a week!!!!!

April this year, phone and bb went off late one night - seems someone pinched some cable locally - was a week before we got services back.  No compensation offered.
Last Tuesday, 1.30 in morning, same thing happens, half village cut off.

Dont bother checking on the internet site, the fault detai which said it would be fixed friday last has been removed.
Posting this cos some kind soul has left their FON service up and running.

  • No Phone Line for 1 week; moving towards urgent!

Hello All, I am posting this on behalf of my father.
    Problem
Phone line has not worked for a week; BT broadband works. Context: he lives along a country lane, nearly all his neighbours are experiencing problems with their phone line, broadband or both. Becoming urgent? One of his neighbour's husband died this week and she has had no phone line to organise the funeral. She now has a mobile phone which she can hardly use, she is very elderly. That example was to illustrate that inaction can really affect people.
    Actions Taken
    1. My Dad phoned the BT fault line. BT (to give them credit) arrived the next day. They checked the wiring inside the house and confirmed the fault lay with BT. They then confirmed that they needed to dig up the road and the job was with 'Planning' and there was nothing more they can do.
    Follow Up
    1) My Dad did not get a reference from the BT guys that initially visited.
    2) He has not heard back from BT of their Planning department.
    3) He has tried to phone Customer Services but ends up in India and gets confused. He is elderly as well.
    4) He did manage to use the Live Chat function last night and communicated the problem on his line. He got a text today to say it was all fixed and his phone would work. He got home and his phone did not work. Something he could not get his head around since BT texted him to say it would be working. Different generation, different values!!
    Conclusion
I guess I am asking for help or advice. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi Illogan,
    Sorry about the trouble here.
I'll be happy to have a look into this for you and try and get the line up and going again.

  • Phone out for 3 weeks , has not been repaired yet!

My home phone stopped working August 15, called repair and was told someone would come on
August 17  , no one came,   I called again and got a repairman  out on august 17 he checked the line and told
us that he could not repair it because it was a problem in the cables and the cable splicer would be fixing it, they
were due to have it fixed on Aug 18... Anyway we waited for the phone to work , it was still out.  I called  2 days
later and asked what happened to the cable people who were supposed to come out on the 18, the woman
said she did not know but they were sent out and not there fixing the cable!!.  Well I have called 3 more times
since than and each time I am told someone will be there, the last man I spoke to was really rude man  and told me
that he would send someone out if someone was home to wait for the repairman, I explained that the problem
was up on the   pole and no one should have to come into my home that we just wanted the phone fixed, he
kept on repeating will someone be home!!! I finally got fed up and told him yes,,,, that was last week   and of course
NO ONE showed up  the phone is still out.. Today is
    August 30.
I need my phone and fax machine for my business but can't use them, my cell phone bill is going to be outrageous, I don't know what to do anymore.   ( BTW my phone service was out 8 months ago also we were without our phone than for a month than and it is happening again)  Verizon just doesn t care, what happened to the old phone companies that cared about there customers and back than we were never without phone service.

Hello..I apologize for your inconveniences.  I am a Fios Tech but can do my best to assist you whether this is copper of Fios.  Let me know which of our services you have and a account telephone # and I will assist you in getting this resolved.

  • Faulty phone line and broadband for 1 week - and B...

Please can a UK based BT Advisor / Engineer respond to this message as I'm desperately in need of help - and would be grateful of any assistance
Our housing development had lightning stikes on 30th Jan
As a result I lost my phone and BB connectivity as lines were damaged down the road
I reported this and was given an engineer visit for 5th today
BT enginerrs have been in teh neighbourhood for the last week
No show today for my scheduled visit though and no contact / feedback at all from BT
Rang up today and its cancelled as apparently "my fault has been remotely fixed" - definitely not
Also "we tried to contact you but got no answer" - maybe because my phone line is broken?
I'm getting absolutely nowhere with the help line -
I have told them I want an urgent resolution and I want to formally complain and I want a UK contact to help me resolve this - and that it I don't I'm cancelling my contracts - which I'm minded to do in any case
Still no call back from them on all that - and 1 week now with no connectivity at all
Please can somebody help get me talking to somebody at BT that can resolve this
    Thanks
    Steve (Sheffield)

  • No phone line for 3 weeks, and no idea what is hap...

I reported a fault with our phone on 28Oct. The BT engineer came on 31Oct, at which point the phone was completely dead, and he said the wiring in our house was ok, the fault was in the line outside our house in the pavement in front of the house. The wire was worn away and needed replacing. The road diggers came 7Nov and dug a trench on the pavement in front of the house and showed me the wires, which were almost raw. They placed the wires in a tube, and re- tarmac'd the pavement, leaving the ends open. We then had to wait for the BT engineer to come back and replace the wires between the two holes. On 11Nov, the road men came back and poured cement into one hole. At this point we lost broadband connections to the house. I rang BT broadband to register the bt hub was flashing a red 'b'...they said they couldn't find a circuit to the house. The BT engineer arrived 2pm and said he couldn't replace the wiring 'cos cement had been poured into one of the holes before he'd replaced the wires, and the hole needed to be re-dug. He said the cement had probably caused the broadband line to go down. He rang in and registered all this. Nothing happened 12 and 13th. I rang BT 13th evening and was told the road diggers would come 14th and the BT engineer would come 14th and it would be all fixed today. No one came today. At 6pm BT rang and said the problem will be fixed tmrw. At 7pm BT rang and said as the road had been dug up today the cabling would be completed tmrw. I said NO ONE has dug up the road. They said it's all being done at the exchange and once they have replaced the joints and cables at the exchange tmrw it will be fixed. How can replacing the cables at the exchange fix the wires outside our house?? I have asked this question, but the Indian lady on the phone said it will all work tmrw. She is just reading a script.... I don't know who to talk to because I can't understand how it will all work miraculously tmrw. We have had no phone line since 28oct and no broadband since 11nov. Can someone please please tell me what is happening, because every time I ring I talk to someone in India who has no idea.

Since then I've been pulling my hair out trying to sort it on my mobile phone going from department to department and being hung up on frequently and promised call backs never happening which has cost me £38 phoning BT and another £20 to get mobile broadband for 1 week!
I've also tried the BT help section on the website and sent 2 messages and haven't had a reply yet, first one i sent was on saturday so can someone please help me get this sorted, I can't afford to use my mobile anymore, one call cost me £15!
    Please help!

  • No BB for 3 weeks - junction issue?

We've had no broadband for 3 weeks now. An engineer visited shortly after we discovered the issue and we were informed that our card(?) had been taken out of the junction box and a more higher up engineer would need to fix the issue.<br><br>We've spent 5 hours on the phone to BT since. Passed from one advisor to the next, and when we'd had enough and threatened to leave have been told we'd be billed £400 for cancelling!<br><br>Now I would wait, but our baby monitor relies on BB as well as other things around the home (the internet channels we're paying BT for too!) so it's a huge inconvenience - especially when told we're high priority - 2 weeks ago!<br><br>Has anyone else had this problem? How did you tackle it? Allegedly the card was removed for another customer to join (engineer said he wasn't supposed to tell me that?) and what problem really takes 3 weeks to fix if it's just to one house? I've sent complaint emails and received nothing despite the claim to call back in 24-48hrs. Sorry to rant but I'm so frustrated by the awful customer service and lack if service they continue to bill me for.

  • No landlline for 3 weeks and counting

We have had a phone fault for 3 weeks now, since 25th April. no incoimg calls and no outgoing calls. BT said they would redirect calls to a mobile but have failed to do this. BT have not contacted us to tell us when the fault will be fixed, nor how to claim compensation. I hate to thiink what we are spending on the mobile now. I don't have time to spend ages on the phone in a queue, but how come BT can't apporach me to tell me what's wrong? After all we are way past the standard 3 days to fix a fault. How come BT can email me every quarter about my bill, but can't email me to tell me what's happening. The fault tracking system has been updated once in the last 2 weeks and simply say's "we're working on your fault". The silence is deafening. Wasn't it BT who had the advertising slogan 'it's good to talk'.

  • Faulty Line - No Phone service for over 4 weeks.

    Hi,
I've had NO phone or broadband for over 4 weeks and no useful information as to when this will be fixed.
I'm hoping someone could provide me with and alternative contact number to the 0800 800 151/0330 123 4151 one, where I can speak to someone who is willing to actually help me and not just quote the false information that has been presented to them.
I reported my fault on Friday 12th December 2014 and the online fault details page still shows an estimated repair date of Wednesday 17th December 2014.
Being reported on a Friday it wasn't until the Monday 15th that an engineer turned up, spent all day investigating the fault to say that it was a network fault but that the engineers needed to get into a manhole in the middle of the street and this would require traffic lights and someone who be in touch with an update.
No update received so I called and was told it took 5 days to arrange traffic management so engineers would be dealing 23rd/24th December.
Needless to say the deadline passed no engineers no phone. Next call on the 29th told engineers would be dealing 31st December or 2nd January. Seems to be a pattern developing here.
Called again, told traffice management was still to be sorted (thought this only took 5 days, what were the engineers doing 23rd/24th December or 31st December or 2nd January??????). Told engineers would be dealing 9th January.
Surprise, surprise no engineers no fix one falsehood after another.
Used chat this time only to be told "don't know why you were told engineers would be dealing on the 9th January, traffic management is still to be arranged.
But I was told this would only take 5 days back on the 16th December??????
Conversations just go round and round with no one willing to take owership of this fault and get it resolved.#
To add further insult both the engineer who visited back on the 16th December and at least one of the numerous people I have spoken to on the phone had said that there are several household impacted by this fault.
Knowing that I would have expected a bit more urgency.
Mobile service is poor at my home location and I have elderly parents who need to be able to contact me and my land line is essential for this. Hotspots are very weak and I'm lucky if I can connect for a few minutes at a time, and if other household members want to connect at the same time then there is no chance.
    Very disappointing.

Only people on forum that can help are the forum mods who are BT employees. They will post a contact us link.
After completing the email NOT PM then you join a queue of other customers waiting for mod help. The mods will get back to you in 3/5 working days either by phone or email

My daughter has been in peru for 5 weeks and has her phone on airplane mode and wi-fi and has successfully texted and facetimed when having wi-fi.  Now it is no longer working?  Any ideas?

Basic Troubleshooting Steps when all else fails
Quit the App by opening multi-tasking bar, holding down the icon for the App for about 3-5 seconds, and then tap the red circle with the white minus sign.
Relaunch the App and try again.
    Restart the device. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Reset the device. (Same article as above.)
Restore from backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 (If you don't have a backup, make one now, then skip to the next step.)
Restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137  For this step, do not re-download ANYTHING, and do not sign into your Apple ID.
Test the issue after each step.  If the last one does not resolve the issue, it is likely a hardware problem.

  • Is there a way to try out a phone for a week or so?

I am getting a little annoyed with Android. I was wondering if there were a way to try out the windows phones with verizon for a week or so.
I currently have a nationwide family share plan (but not data sharing).

If you try WP and return it, simply pay the $35 and check right away that your contract eligibility dates are changed back to what they were, If you return the phone to a store, have the Verizon employee check it. If you return something you buy online, hang on to the tracking number and keep an eye out for it to change back (it can take a week or two in that case).
As 21stNow said, you would want to return, not exchange, unless you are absolutely sure of the second phone. If you return, you can still purchase and return in the future on the same line, however.
Last, as a long-time Android user and a more recent WP user, I will say the WP OS is pleasant to use and different than anything out there. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. There are lots of helpful, knowledgeable people on the Windows Phone boards here.
