Nokia's Warranty!!!

Hi,
Does anyone know what is Nokia's policy when it comes to Warranty on repaired Phones, i.e...how many times does the phone need to be returned/repaired to/by Nokia before they even consider replacing the Phone and/or giving the money back???

It depends on what country and what the laws are their. Their is no thing as "if a nokia product dont work after 3 times in the repairshop then you get a new one". I know that in Norway (been a long time since i lived their), they had this thing that if a Product had been into a repair shop 3 times and still had the same problem then you get a new one. But i dont know if this is the product type or the laws in the country

  • Nokia N97 Warranty

Hello, I had purchased a Nokia N97 with a 12 month warranty from the Philippines in September 2009 and I had came back to U.S. as that is where I live. But I just found out that my warranty is not valid here in the U.S. Does anyone know if it's possible to transfer the warranty over to the U.S.? Is it possible to buy an insurance or something right now for my phone? Thanks
P.S. I don't have the receipt of my purchase anymore because I could not bring it back to the U.S.

    Hi
Unfortunately you won't be able to transfer the Nokia warranty over to the U.S as the warranty is only valid for the region the handset was intended for, Europe, U.S, Asia etc.
You might be able to take out insurance on the handset but you would need to check this with the actual insurance company to see if they would cover imported handsets

  • The Nokia vs Customer Service Challenge

Nokia, let's see what your made of?
I bought a nokia N97 around 3 months ago. At this stage the Blackberry was the phone to have (still is) but being the nokia fan that I always "was" decided to go with the N97. Now please understand that this phone was an out-right purchase, not "free" on some contract, so it set me back a few bucks.
I have since talked friends out of taking Blackberry's, iPhones and other brands, convincing them that the N97 was the best phone ever made!
Since the beginning of month 2 I have had nothing but trouble with this NASTY piece of hardware that Nokia has sold to me at the price of 2-3 months rent of a house or a cruise for a week to some island.
The phones final destination and what happened today, which is what got me to challenge NOKIA on this forum is this. My phones battery died, I plugged it in using the original charger, with absolutely no response from the phone. I then thought it was a batter problem, bought a new battery, put it in and the phone came on. Then wanted to charge the battery as required, no response.
I then tried the USB data cable, no response from the phone or the PC. I called nokia up and was told to do a hard reset as it was a software problem (hahahahahahaha) what ever! I gave them the benefit of the doubt as they are Nokia and they should know what they are talking about right? LOL. I reset my phone, lost all my data, 3 months of images, email, contacts etc (I admit, I should have done a backup). My mass storage is non-existent anymore, it does not even open the folder or the drive, it tells me it is in use.
Even if my data was still on the phone, how would I get it off? The USB does not work. And how do I charge the phone?
I am very disappointed in my choice for taking the Nokia apposed to the iPhone as was my other choice, but even a Blackberry would have proved a better choice.
I would like to challenge Nokia right here to contact me and come up with a solution, to fix the phone for me (and provide another while doing so) or giving me a replacement. I will update the thread on a daily basis with all (if any) feed back I get from Nokia.
Come on Nokia, show us what your made of!
    Kind Regards,

Right now having had two posts removed as they are 'disrespectful to Nokia' or involved pm from Nokia, I try again (hopefully this is anodyne enough to get through):
Used to be nokia Fanboy not so any more (too old and see below):
Nokia N95 owned for 6 months. Returned after 6 months faulty - took refund.
Nokia N97 2 replacements - first two units failed almost out of the box.Third after 8 months with software problems. I felt s/ware to be flaky from the start I am afraid.
Nokia N900: pretty happy with this but bit discontent with Nokia obsolescing (expensive) mobile so fast. But now N900 returned to Nokia under warranty (unable to recognise sim card), returned to me one week later with same fault but now with Sim bracket totally detached.
First line support suggest that I wait a week while they investigate. Called back to make complaint and Nokia agree to UPS pick up next day.
Cal Nokia one week later and told phone is with UPS to be delivered and I should expect on that day. Call later to confirm but asking to be put through to second level support who then inform me that phone is not in delivery but is waiting for quality and assurance testing.
Nokia tell me that I should track through case reference:  enter reference supplied to their website and response is that there is no information about this repair.
I am now told Nokia will call me next Tuesday.
Compare and contrast friend has problems with HTC Desire (slow to boot/turning itself off occasionally). Replaced within week of first phone call.
Have spent 2-3 hours on the phone over this.
This post is to give my experience which may be different to others. I may have been unlucky but it is my experience so I would be grateful if it could remain. Others with a positive experience feel free to disagree and chip in.

  • Nokia N80 Internet Edition Software Update Issue

    Hi,
I would like to express my disappointment for the poor service that Nokia has given me. I purchased a Nokia cellphone because I believed it was a reliable company. Nokia is operating in a global world, promoting online upgrades internationally. This does not rely on borders, and yet, on the ground Nokia is inflexible and has not responded to the mobile global population. Despite being within the warranty period, I have to pay a considerable sum of money to fix a problem caused by the online upgrades that Nokia promote.
I used the New Zealand Nokia website to update my Nokia N80i software, and the message on my PC said that the update was completed successfully. When I tried to use the phone there was a message on the screen telling me to contact my retailer. From then on my problems started.
I called the New Zealand Nokia call centre (where I live) and I explained the problem and they advised me to go to the nearest care center, and I did that. As this unit was purchased from abroad (Singapore), I was advised that as the New Zealand care centre is unable to service my Nokia N80i.
I was told to send the phone to a Nokia Care Centre in Singapore because they would have the current issue on hand. Even though the fault was caused by the computer updates, I was informed that the issue would need to meet Nokia's warranty guidelines and be within its warranty period (my phone was under the warranty period at the time) for the repair to be covered under warranty. In any case, I had to cover all handling charges such as courier charges. Having received this advice I paid for the phone (with warranty card) to be couriered to Singapore.
Nokia NZ told me if the phone has been posted to the care centre in Singapore, I should tell them IMEI Number, Date of Purchase, Airway Bill / Consignment Number - which I did.
I then went through a very painful process of dealing with Customs Singapore regarding GST charges. Before it left customs (as I didn't want to pay GST on an item I wasn't importing into Singapoer), I received a call from the Singapore care center advising me that they cannot fix my phone as it is from the Hong Kong market (even though it was purchased in Singapore!!!!) I'm not sure how they could tell me this now (when they hadn't received the phone in Singapore) as they couldn't tell me this when the phone was in New Zealand.
They now said I needed to send it to Hong Kong instead. I told them I could not afford to pay anymore money as I already spent lots to send the phone to them, only to have it return to New Zealand at my cost (which happened when I didn't pay the excessive GST charges).
Nokia then told me to throw my phone in the rubbish and forget about it because they are not responsible for it.
This whole process was ludicrous. The phone was working fine before I tried to use the online update feature, and yet, Nokia refuse to take responsibility for the faults caused by their updates.
Right now I am left with a dead phone. Can anybody help me to fix it?

I am very sorry to hear about your predicament. I always keep my fingers and toes crossed when I update firmware as it can be a risky exercise.
Nokia warranties are usually only valid in the country the phone is meant for, except for European phones where the warranty is valid all over Europe.
I read another thread where someone else got their phone to work following a similar problem to your. Have a look at the thread below.
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=hardware&thread.id=7082
    Hope this works for you.

  • Worst nokia care and awesome nokia technicians

baught my lumia jus 1 month back...the screen was loosely fixed....and whenever i pressed a bit hard and swipe horizontally the screen would move.....
send it to nokia care (Country:india,
    `state:kerala,
    place:Thrissur)
on primary investigation from nokia care team, they told me that it was a feature of all lumia 800s.(damn good)
so i requested them to please show it to some one who has some technical knowledge.so they send it to nokia factory(DELHI(india))
After 15days, that is today, i received my lumia back in exactly the same condition i gave it.
The screen was still loosely fixed.
cheers to nokia technicians in the nokia factory.
Nokia care team told me they will again send it for 15days.i said enough.
Selling my nokia lumia 800 tomorrow....i dont know if anybody would wanna buy it.......

I had problems with my lumia 800, the first time I sent it in, it came back scratched etc, the display was just destroyed for a new phone, so I sent it bavk in again, and got a new device all together, it was some nokia certified warranty center that handled my case the first time.
I have to say though that these days such service is not common anymore, so I think nokias customer care is actually good.
And being a former iPhone user, and a long term nokoa user before that, I prefer the lumia over my iPhone hands down, the build quality and os, pretty much everything is just better.

  • Nokia 5500 - Browsing tips

Tip 1! Goto: Menu: My Own: Web. This will use the S60 browser (installed on the microSD card) to access the internet with a screen display the same as a PC. Mush better than the "services" browser....
Tip 2! ...then goto: Options: Zoom , Decrease font, for easier viewing of the page with limited scrolling...

Thanks for the tip and because no other repair centre close decided to email Nokia this is the response...
Thank you for emailing Nokia Careline.
In response to your email, I wish to assure you that all Nokia products undergo a very thorough quality assurance program with extensive research and development. Nokia maintains the most stringent quality controls available so that we can confidently provide one of the most reliable products in the industry. Hence, there are no generic issues with this or any other Nokia mobile phones.
all Nokia phones come with a 12-month Nokia Limited Warranty from the date of purchase. Should your Nokia 5500 Sport have an issue during the warranty period and is in a warrantable condition, Nokia will assess the mobile phone at our Nokia Care Centre under warranty. However, should your Nokia 5500 Sport need to be assessed outside of the 12-month Limited Warranty, a minimal charge will be incurred.
I cannot believe I have to pay to fix an obvious manufactor fault !

  • NSeries Warranty Coverage

Since I am planning to buy an N8, I have been reading online about it. I heard that corrosion/failure due to air moisture is not covered, even when you have not spilled water or damaged the phone by any action other than carrying and using it.
    Is it true?

The Nokia manufacturer warranty within EU is two years from time of purchase, and elsewhere one year, I think.
With liquid damage, repair centers may primarily try to put it on the user's poor/bad handling of the device, as they may have to fight with Nokia, or pay the fixing/replacement from their own pocket, if they accept it as warranty repairs too easily. So, should it be required, be assertive towards the repair center. I have no experience of the N8 being particularly susceptible to moisture (at least the N8 I have, is fine, but I haven't used it in the rain, or much at all, for that matter).

  • N85 warranty and Camera shutter key problem

    Hi,
I have had an N85 for around a year now, and I have had some problems with the phone. The phone has been cared for well, and now the shutter button on the camera has broken. I took it to my local repair centre, and was told that it wasnt covered by the warranty, as it was a "physical problem." I didn't have time to argue the problem, so took my phone back and left.
Was the sales rep correct? I fail to see how it should be anything other than a problem that comes under the warranty. Would I have more luck sending it off to nokia?
    Thanks
    Rob

If it broke and you weren't misusing it, then it should be covered by the warranty. However it's Nokia's warranty so it's pretty much up to them to decide whether they think it was damaged by you or broke on its own. I think that Nokia's central repair place isn't much more generous than the care points.
If you're in the UK, the retailer or phone provider you got it from has an obligation to make sure it's fit for purpose and reasonably durable. Unfortunately as it's over six months old you're still stuck trying to show that you didn't cause the fault, with an engineer's report or something similar. However it doesn't hurt to ask and they might go ahead and do the repair out of courtesy/loyalty. That was my experience with T-Mobile at any rate.
If it doesn't work out, I think something like £30 would be pretty typical for that kind of issue. Depending on how committed you are to the phone, it might be worth it.
Help I'm trapped in a sig factory.

  • HSPA bug repair by Nokia bodge?

    Hi
I sent my nokia 808 in to Nokia under warranty for repair for very unreliable 3g operation. Since its return there is no 3g or 3.5g displayed in the top right of  the screen.
I fear that Nokia repair have disabled the 3g and returned it 'fixed' when it isnt.
Is this likeley, and how would I check to ensure 3g is actually working.
    Many thanks for any advise!

Hi, kowalski99. Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions! Just to verify, does this happen all the time regardless of where you are? The network coverage is being influenced by your location. To make sure, kindly observe the phone is a place where 3G connection is strong. Be sure to turn on your data connection. You can also try to use another SIM from another operator to further isolate the issue. Hope this helps.

  • Nokia X6 SideLock

Hey there, I bought a Nokia X6 16GB last April on pay monthly.
All of a sudden, the sidelock has stopped working, as if the lock itself isnt connected to a switch (it just slides up and down). Since Im on contract, is this covered by Nokia's warranty (I bought from O2) and if so, how would I go about getting it fixed? The side of the actual phone has been loose from day 1, along with a squeaky backplate, but I have had to put up with. This is just annoying now, considering I can't unlock it to get any of my data off of the phone.
    Please help, thanks.

Just as well they dropped "The future's bright – the future's Orange" slogan. Orange crippleware strikes again!
