Non facing pages with two masters

My pre-press contact has advised me to create documents without facing pages checked. I'm not 100% sure why since I'll be exporting to .pdf anyway, allowing them to impose the pages. She just said that facing pages "nearly always cause problems."
However, I am creating a large conference program book with a left and right master. I know how to set up two separate masters. What concerns me is the inevitable changes--pages inserted, pages deleted. With facing pages In Design 'figures it out.' As long as you don't have uneven columns or pull quotes in the margins, it's not too much trouble to insert a single page within the book during the design process.
I've played around with the no facing pages, two masters, and as best as I can see, adding a page is as bad as I feared: I would have to manually reset every single page after that one to the proper master. I HAVE to be missing something as that would get old really fast in a 100+ page program that will probably morph multiple times.
On a related note, certain pages or sections of pages, will have unique footers, aligned either left or right. (ie Welcome from the President; Sunday--Session 1, etc.) I will obviously strive to do these last for the reasons mentioned above. But, again, is there am InDesign trick that I'm missing? This can't be uncommon.
Straight-up design I can handle, but dealing with large, complex documents is something I don't have much experience with.

Take a different printer. She is telling you complete nonsense. Maybe that SHE has problems, but it is not caused by InDesign, it is caused by HER.
If you have a double sided printed publication you have to set it up as facing pages and you have to export as single pages.
In combination with the document setup to facing/non-facing pages you will have an influence on many things in your document:
Paragraph alignment toward or away from spine (as it often used for page numbers).
Anchored objects with toward and from spine settings.
Keep options.
If a printer is not able to handle facing pages look for a different printer.

I think your requirement is, your have two iviews in a page. In one iview you have a link and on clicking the link you want to load the target application in another iview of the same page. If this is your requirement the follow the following istructions.
a) In the page of the source iview on clicking the link execute a java script function and raise an EPCM event.
Code to raise EPCM event
EPCM.raiseEvent("urn:com.epcf.EPCFProducer", "myAccGetResultsEvent", "ShowResults");
b) In the page of the second iview subscribe that EPCM event.
Code to subscribe the EPCM event.
EPCM.subscribeEvent("urn:com.epcf.EPCFProducer", "myAccGetResultsEvent", eventHandler);
Write a java script function named eventHandler with one argument and call your target application from this javascript function.

Detail-with-two-masters : Is there a demo ?

I found in the manual following description and I think
this could be a solution for many-to-many related Forms blocks (intersection table=detail) :
A detail-with-two-masters relation involves a single detail block that has two master blocks.
Form Builder displays the appropriate detail records for whichever master block is the current block in the form.
For example, in the sample application referred to earlier, the ord block could be a detail block having two master blocks, CUSTOMER and EMP.
End users could then see all of the orders for a particular customer, or for a particular sales representative (employee).
Usually, when you create a detail-with-two-masters relation, you will be joining on different foreign-key items in the detail block.
In such cases, the Copy Value from Item property is set for each foreign-key item in the detail block to point
to the primary-key item in the appropriate master block.
To create this type of relation, you need only define the two relations; Form Builder will automatically support coordination.
In other cases, however, you might want to create a master-with-two-details with each relation joining
on the same foreign-key item in the detail block.
However, because the Copy Value from Item property can only point to one master block item,
you will need to write additional code to coordinate querying and
updating for the second relation if you are joining on the same item in the detail block.
Depending on the desired functionality, this might include writing a Pre-Query trigger
for the detail block to ensure that the correct primary-key item value
is copied to the foreign-key item in the detail block. For example,
COPY(NAME_IN(:system.master_block||'.primary_key_item'), 'detail_block.item');
You might also want to create a When-New-Block-Instance trigger that checks
the coordination status of the detail block whenever
the end user navigates to a different master block, and,

How I can enable "turn the page" with two fingers

my problem is I want to enable the option to "turn the page with two fingers" to serve everywhere (Google Chrome, Finder, etc) but the problem is notserved with two fingers, serves only the option to turn pages if I put three fingers

Can I have both facing and non-facing pages in a document?

I am trying to assemble a booklet with 11x17 spreads - some of these will be two facing 8.5x11 pages, but others will be a single 11x17 image, and would be better to treat them as a one page spread. We will be producing a hardcopy and an electronic version. The hastily sketched image below shows what I'm looking for. In the PDF version, the pages would be oriented as shown. In the booklet, the large images would be rotated to fit into the 8.5x11 booklet and viewed centerfold style.
Is this a thing I can accomplish in one InDesign document, or will I need to produce separate versions for the digital & print editions?

For the print version I would set up as an ordinary 8.5 x 11 facing pages file, and rotate the spread view for the pages that you need to see as 11 x 17 verticals, but you're going to need a second PDF for the electronic version if you want to export spreads. I'd give exporting as PDF (Interactive) a try -- spreads is the default, and rotate the occasional page in Acrobat before distribution. That will give you spreads for everything, though, so if you want to have individual 8.5 x 11 pages, you'll need to export multiple PDFs, specifying ranges, with spreads selected or deselected, then combine them all into a single PDF in Acrobat for distribution.

Two Master pages with two design pages

Hi All;
I need a help in the below scenario;
- I have two Master pages wid different header title and other information which I required for two different body pages.
I need to assign the 1st master page with all content of first page data (both design pages will display table data).
so the first page display should start with 1st master page and 1st body and after finishing the content of first table..
2nd master and body page starts with the content of 2nd table..
The issue is I am getting one extra page when I am checking design pages
Please let me know your valuable suggestion.. Helpful answer will be highly appreciated !!!

I am also facing similar problem,
I too hv 2 master pages and 2 body pages respectively.
first master page assigned to first body page
and second master page assigned to second body page.
But still i am able to view one extra body page in my design view.

can someone suggest me how create an BSP application with the main page composed by two frae?
I've create a page with tags <htmlb> gridLayout for ape the frame structure and the result is fine.

The inline line object in the header is offset in facing pages. How can I make it align with the outer margin?

I have a Pages document with a header that contains both text and a line (a shape, inline) below the text. When I make the document two-sided (facing pages), with a 1" inside margin and a .75" outside margin, the line offsets either left or right in each section of the document. When a section starts with a right-hand page, the line is right justified on ALL the pages in the section (1" from the left and .75" from the right), even though it should be .75" from the LEFT on the LEFT-HAND pages. When a section starts with a left-hand page, the line is left justified on ALL the pages in the section.
Is there any way to get the header line to align with the margins properly in facing pages?

Click on Inspector > Layout > Section > Configuration
Is there a tick in 'Left and right pages are different'?
Please post a screen shot of your headers. That will help to show what you are trying to achieve.
To take a screen shot, hold down the shift and command keys, then type 4. The cursor will change to crosshairs. Release the shift and command keys. Drag over that part of your screen then release the mouse/trackpad. A screen shot will appear on your desktop. In a reply to a message, click on the camera icon in the Toolbar above your reply and
Choose File > Choose > Insert Image
You may have to try this twice. Camera icon sometimes needs a wake-up call, but works the second time.
Remove any personal details before taking the screen shot.

Show the report on the same dashborad page with the folder tree?

I add a folder in dashboard, and put it on the left.
now i open the folder tree in dashboard, and click a report,
but biee open the report on a new page.
I want to show the report on the same page with the folder,
maybe show the report on the right in the dashboard with the folder.
how could it be done?

The only way it could work is using iframes. Now OBIEE 11g would not allow iframes inside it's dashboard. It offers a dashboard object called "Embedded content" which is a restricted iframe kinda thing but unless you get this object's id from generated HTML you can change it's content dynamically. Besides, such an implementation may break with next patch. So here is an idea.
Create a HTML page with two iframes, left one will hold all the reports with links (you can always generate a list of reports through catalog manager, open it in excel and make HTML links from it) that open report urls (in the format of ./saw.dll?GO&Path=....) in right iframe (using javascript open.window method). Once that page is working, call this page from dashboard using an action link. This is slightly twisted approach but at least it would give you what you asked for.
About making the report list dynamic, I am afraid there are no easy answers. OBIEE provides web service that will allow the users to query catalog to get a list of reports. You can try some basic JSP to access the web service and generate the list dynamically. But that is not something I can provide here.

Firefox 4 does not support zoom-in/out with two fingers on Windows 7 with a multi-touch scrren, IE8 does.

I have a HP 2740p notebook with multi-touch support. With IE8, I can zoom-in/out the web page with two fingers, but I can not with Firefox 4. It seems that FF4 only support basic touch (scroll with finger)

Some prefs have been reset to empty values.

Inside bleed on facing pages?

hi,
im creating a spiral bound booklet in cs4 i've set up master facing pages with my margins and grid, just wondering if it's possible to split the pages so that there is space between the pages to set up an inside bleed, but still remain in a spread layout so I can see how they look together?
elsewhere in the forums someone said there was a script to pull them apart but i couldn't find it, does someone have a link? and how stable would my pages be if I used it?

Need common page for two Web applications

I got two web applications. I need to have a common point/ page to get access to them. I need to have a jsp or html page with two respective links. Providing this is fine but I need help as to how do handle switching the contexts.

MythWeb Shows Blank Page with Broken Icon Symbols.

I having a problem getting MythWeb to work. I followed the Wiki carefully. I get prompted to login, but just get a blank page with two broken icon symbols. Apache access and error logs don't show any errors.
Relevant part of mythweb.conf is:

I commented out the following php options as according to a MytTV Trac ticket they are no longer required and were filling my logs with errors. Uncommenting them again made no difference.

I have since discovered that if I copy the “about” URL and paste it into a new tab, it works. But if I open anyrhing in a tab and then go to a reader view I see the blank screen.
Again, Palemoon continues to work.
