Not Getting Emails, but can send

I am not getting emails on my BB.  Last email received on my primary account was Thursday night.  I can send, but nothing is coming through.  It is an account through ATT.com, and it is also the main account I use on my personal laptop through Outlook.  I have made sure that outlook is shut down and laptop is off, but still not receiving. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

  • Not receiving emails, but can send them on desktop; but can do both on iPhone.

Ok, I have spent since a day or so since the first of this month trying to solve this issue.  I use Hostgator, which shouldn't be an issue, but it seems to be. I have on my phone all my emails that are being hosted by hostgator set up as fetch, and it recieves my emails fine. My desktop though, can't.  It can see the servers, and send emails, but it can't do anything but.  It can't even download the emails I sent to myself, but when I go on web mail I can see them all.
My connection to the server is good:
But for some reason I can't recieve any emails from the IMAP server.
I put the computer is Safe Mode, and I could recieve the emails, but when I put it in normal mode, the emails don't download. I use Avast! Anti-Virus, I use SugarSync, I use Splashtop, And Free Memory Pro.
For web browsers, I use Crome, and Safari.
I use Apple Mail and Postbox, both can't recieve emails.
I can't imagine what is keeping my computer from downloading from the server.
    Can someone help please?

I have not seen that review before and the only thing I take issue with is
the authors of Clam AV for Mac, apparently do not understand these concepts. Both the admin and limited user can only scan files w/in "<user name>/documents". 99% of the files on a Mac are outside of "/users/<admin>,<other user>/documents. What good is a antivirus scan, that has no access?
There is only one author and I can assure you that he fully understands the permission issues involved. He is committed to follow Apple security guidelines in this matter which say that even an admin user should not be able to see files and folders belonging to other users without their explicit permission. I realize that there is a lot of software that ignore this rule, including virtually all other A-V software vendors, but I don't think he will ever budge on that subject. I'm sure this same limitation applies to any other A-V software downloaded from the AppStore.
ClamXav will scan any file or folder that the current user has read access to. For an admin user this is by far the majority of the files on the hard drive, not the 1% indicated by the reviewer. For a limited user, that would be reduced to only files that are owned by that user and any other files readable by "everybody".
I realize that it has widely been suggested that users not routinely operate with admin rights, but I'm guessing the number of users that are actually practicing that are minimal. Novice users won't see that guidance and most of those that do won't be able to figure out how to accomplish that. Experienced users may give it a try, but quickly get tired of switching back and forth to do their admin duties. To me one of those admin duties would be to run ClamXav periodically to pick up anything that may have slipped by, especially when there is more than one user using the computer. Each of those other users should also be using ClamXav to inspect their own files. Of course a limited use user can use an admin userid and password if they know it to do installations, etc., so it is possible to slip something by.
In the case of the web site version of ClamXav, a limited user can run Sentry to watch all of the entry points to the computer, including the download folder, e-mail and any external drives he has access to. That should detect any currently known malware, including Windows, before it becomes an issue.
Lastly, as far as I have been able to determine, all the ClamAV® signatures are for malware that would be readable to an admin user and most by a limited use user. It would be a waste of time to look into the unreadable portions of the System (mostly the Unix sub-system) since there is no currently known malware that would exist there.
What bothers me is that it won't look at files beyond ownership? I know it sounds odd, but I do deal with some form of internet esponage at times due to the type of company I am working on building.
Again, you will be able to examine any files readable by you, any group you belong to or "everybody" as long as they are enclosed in a directory (folder) that you can access. Here's an example of a full hard drive scan I did just the other day as a test:
    Scanned directories: 192387
    Scanned files: 914610
    Total errors: 692
The "errors" are almost certainly files I did not have read access to as an admin so I was able to scan 99.9% of the files I had access to.
Disk Utility tells me I have 1,150,506 files at the moment, so I scanned about 79.5% of them.

  • Can't get emails, but can send through Mail

I just got Roadrunner and I cannot get emails in the Mail program. RR says it is a Mac Mail problem. I can send emails through Mail. I do get emails through Webmail but really want to use the Mail program. It worked with my Earthlink account. I have rebuilt the account and have the settings in Mail correct. Are there other settings I need to set on the Mac?
    Thank you for any help.

No, a combination of letters and numbers. I just noticed that the email address for me on webmail is @adelphia.net, [email protected] That is not how Mail is set up nor is that the email address I was given. I was never with any Adelphia internet service. It is strange.

  • Email App does not recove emails, but can send

The Email app stopped receiving email a few days ago. I'm using a Verizon FIOS email account. I have checked with FIOS support and there are no known issues on their end. I checked and double checked the outgoing email settings and they are correct. Even when setting them up there are no errors and everything looks fine. But no incoming email at all. A refresh does nothing, and no errors. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix or what might be wrong?

  • HT3228 Can get email but can't send

I set up my pop 3 account and I can receive emails but can't send them. Something simple Im sure..?.

Many times is is because the outgoing server settings are not correct.
Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

  • Can't receive emails but can send. Checked all settings as per help all ok. Tried deleting and adding. All ok on other devices

I Can't receive emails but cand send. Just stopped working. I have checked all settings and also tried deleting account and re adding. Email account ok as works on my phone and laptop. What else could I try?

Go into the account again and look at the settings for the mail server. That is what receives the mail. Make sure that your username and password are entered everywhere, even where the phone states optional. I'm guessing that you are connected to Wi-Fi on the iPad at the time you are trying to get the mail?

  • Cant recive emails but can send

Just downloaded Mozilla thunderbird. Have been through the setup process and my account appers to have connected to the client without any error messages. The problem is I can send emails but not receive them.
I don't really know what I'm talking about but for what its worth:
I am using a IMAP mail server. port 993
I have checked in the firewall settings and there appears to be no mention at all of Mozilla thunderbird.
When I click on the inbox or "get messages" icon nothing happens, it does not appear to attempt to connect to anything
    Any help would be fantastic.

  • Cannot recieve my email but can send

Hi, I am a newby and in need of help.
I can send emails from my curve, but cannot recieve them. I have contacted vodaphone and done all the service pack stuff and confirmed that my account and email is set up correctly - but still no joy. It feels like there is a setting on the phone that is not picking up the emails. Could someone help and point me in the right direction?

    rcsurfer wrote:
Thanks for the help - but I'm still having problems. Email does arrive however there appears to be about a 5 hour delay. I set up an email address using the *@mobileemail.vodaphone.net but this still has the delay. If I send a nemail it goes almost immediately.
Very depressed and looking for help
    Neil
Neil, my best advice, quite honestnly--get ride of the @mobilemail.vodaphone.net address and get a Gmail account. It has much better integration with the BlackBerry, and is more dependable. Plus the Gmail account can be used anywhere. If you ever change mobile phone carriers and leave Vodafone, you will loose your @mobilemail... address.

  • I can't recieve email, but can send. All is good with my int. provider.

A few days ago I stopped getting emails. When I try, a window pops up saying, "Sending of user name did not succeed. Mail server pop.*******.net responded:internal server error. I can click OK to that, then a box pops up with " Login to pop.********.net failed. Options are: Retry- Enter New Password- Cancel
I've tried all 3, with no progress. Internet provider went thru setup info with me, all good. Password works on their server and get email there, but I would like to use Thunderbird.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think one of the reasons your provider could not fault the connection settings is that it is your anti virus that is the root cause of the issue.
Historically ISPs used port 110 and no connection security. It was simpler and therefore let to less support calls. The downside was the inherently insecure connection process that saw your user name and password passed across the internet in plain text. (That is fairly easy to intercept.)
Security is becoming a far more important item, particularly to ISPS as their customers just don't take having their accounts hacked well. The result is they are moving to secured connection.
The accepted standards here are Port 110 with No security and port 995 with SSL for POP mail accounts. While these standards are not compulsory they are used by most mail providers the world over
Now back to your Anti virus. As little a a couple of years ago major anti virus programs simply did not touch or scan email that came in over SSL. The data stream was encrypted, usually with a 2048 bit security key.
(That is the minimum key length from December 2013). For many years no one really noticed that email over SSL was not scanned. Over the past couple of years anti virus programs have started trying to scan SSL mail connections. Many of the implementation leave a lot to be desired. They use various hacking techniques to decrypt the data. It is not intended under SSL that decryption should occur until it get to the application it is being send to. The result is that the anti virus program often cause more disruption than they save, or in the case of AVG require the setting up of an SSL proxy in AVG and the removal of the SSL in the mail program.
Long winded I know, but the background is really required to understand why I blame Anti virus software and to help your understanding of the process. In the first instance try disabling the email scanner in the anti virus program.
I am persevering with this, as the normal approach with transitions from an old to new server name or old to new ports is about a 2 year window with most ISPs. So while your GRICS server still works, I would assume it has a life of less than 2 years before you will need to have both machines on the new settings

  • Outlook on PC's not receiving mail but can send fine

I have found that my real issue with my virtual users is not the virtual domain at all. In fact it works fine with any Apple mail client. But all my Outlook and Outlook Express users out there on their PC's can't seem to get their mail. They can send but not receive and I have no idea how to fix this. I have ben researching and googling to see if anyone knows how to make this work but I haven't found an answer. Anyone know how to fix this?
They are all connecting via POP on port 110 and I show them connecting fine in the server log. But mail is not being pulled down from their mailbox to their client. I have APOP and Clear setup on the server for authentication but still not working.

I'm having fun answering my own questions. So I figured out that if the Outlook clients actually use their comxpwebchurchname then outlook gets their mail no problem. To use their alias of [email protected] doesn't work.

  • Can't open emails but can send emails - I use verizon

I use verizon for my emails.  On my IPAD I can see my emails but when I click on then I just get that circle that goes around and it keeps doing that forever.  I can sent emails.  I am able to open them fine on my computer so I don't think it is verizon.  I have tried turning off, different ways to get on verizon but nothing seems to that I can think of.  Any suggestions?

  • Exchange - Cannot receive emails but can send

Using Exchange 2007 - (CAS,Hub,Mail and Transport). I have all external mail coming in on http/s to webmail and outlook anywhere and port 25 smtp (mail.domain.com). Firewall NAT rule is External to Internal.
I then created a DMZ and now have webmail and outlook anywhere http/s going from External>>>>DMZ>>>Internal and it works fine. But when I changed smtp 25 to External>>>DMZ>>>Inside - I cannot receive any emails from
    external, I can send though.
I Only changed the way it is being routed, instead of going from External (mail.domain.com) to Internal (mail server). I have it going External (mail.domain.com)>>>(DMZ IP) >>>(Internal Mail server).
I didn't change any IPs or URLs or anything on the External or Internal and webmail and outlook anywhere are working fine through the DMZ.
I thought maybe it could be the external mail filter in the cloud that hits our external domain name but since I'm not touching anything external I don't see how that would matter.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • Not receiving mail, but can send it

Out of no where, my @att.net email is not receiving email in Mail, but it can still send it, no problem. I have the email address set up as a POP, with the incoming mail server as pop.att.yahoo.com (I also tried pop.mail.yahoo.com). I don't know what else to do to relieve my mail again. I know that emails are coming in because they show up on my blackberry and on yahoo.com, but not in Mail. Don't know what happened to make it stop receiving.
I don't know if this matters, but I now have 10.6 (but this problem started before I installed it).

Ernie, thanks, deleting MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3 fixed my POP account but not the mac.com IMAP...continues to gear spin without end, even when account is taken offline...i tried turning off SSL (reverts to port 143 from 993 here in Aussie) etc, nor is rebuilding effective...account info does not seem to load either: spinning 'calculating sizes'...i think this relates to 10.6.1 but cannot be sure, definitely did not have this issue with 10.6...iphone/webmail continues to work unaffected.
any other prefs might be deleted to encourage mail to function normally?
