Not receiving all mail

I'm getting some mail, then it stops coming for a few hours and one or two more come but the missing ones never come. A couple of days ago they were all coming and I haven't changed anything.
I've checked the Firewall, Connection doctor, Take all accounts online, and all the set up information from my old server; everything is okay. And I can send okay.
Would appreciate any help you can offer. Entourage was not working right and Mail seems to have what I need.
Many thanks
Janet

Hi klompen.
What type of account is this (POP, IMAP, .Mac)?
Choose Get Info (⌘I) from the Action menu located below the mailboxes list in the main Mail window to open the Account Info window -- type "Account Info" in the search field of Mail Help for more information on this feature. Does Mail display there the messages that it doesn't download?

  • IMAP problems - not receiving all mail on Mail

I'm running Mail 3.6 under Leopard (10.5.8). I have my domain hosted at GoDaddy and set up my primary email account as an IMAP account. I have also set up my Verizon phone to receive my emails.
On occasion, I will receive an email that I can see on my phone and the GoDaddy webmail page. However, the email never shows up on Apple Mail or sometimes shows up hours later.
I've spoken to GoDaddy. They put the blame squarely on Apple.
I've spoken with my Mac Users Group. They've never heard of this problem.
    Any thoughts?

    I am also having trouble.
I don't receive any Mail during weekday daytime hours. All emails load after 10pm, and will arrive at weekends.
They do appear on my Webmail page in Firefox.
ISP is Madasafish and they cannot trace the problem, although it may be the BT landline.

  • Why am I not receiving ALL my e-mail in Ipad. I get it on PC and blackberry

why am i not receiving all my e-mails on ipad2? I get them on my blackerry and on my pc.

I believe most PC mail programs by default are set to delete messages from the server once they are downloaded onto the PC.  So if you access your email on your PC before your iPad checks for email some messages won't be there. To minimize this make sure you have Push set to on and Fetch set a short time limit (not Manual).

Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
              •          Server name: imap.mail.me.com
              •          SSL Required: Yes
              •          Port: 993
              •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
              •          Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
              •          Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
              •          SSL Required: Yes
              •          Port: 587
              •          SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
              •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
              •          Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria:  8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers.  If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message.  Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.
    Thanks to dpepper...

  • Iphone mail app not receiving e-mail from 1 sender

The Mail app on my iPhone 6/iOS 8.3 is not receiving e-mail from one sender sent to my Outlook e-mail account. This sender's e-mail address is "[email protected]". It is a notification of digital magazines available from Zinio. I know the mail app is not receiving the e-mail because Outlook 2013 on my desktop and Outlook.com do receive these e-mails. How can I get the mail app on my iPhone to receive these e-mails from this address?

Initially it sounds like something with your backup data caused the issue with your new device but if you restored your device again without using the backup and the issue still exists it wouldn't appear to be the issue at all. Since the problem seems to only be with one person are you sure it's not an issue on their end and with their network that is stopping you from receiving the messages? Have you tried *228 option 2 to see if that helps?

  • How do I rebuild a new Mail account? (recipients not receiving e-mails)

For the last few days, various e-mails I have sent have not reached their recipients when I send them from my Mail application. There is no pattern to whom is and is not receiving e-mails I have sent. All messages show as being Sent and I receive no bounce-back error messages. Some recipients receive e-mails days later, some all the time, some not at all. If I send e-mails using other applications on other computers, including online apps, all e-mails are received successfully by their recipients.
So, I have determined through the process of elimination (after speaking with my internet provider and Apple support) that I need to rebuild my Mail account (I've created a "test" account and the problem is fixed — everyone across the board is receiving my e-mails fine). There seems to be no idea as to what could be causing the problem, but I am hopeful that at least I know that building a new account can remedy it.
The obvious question — how to I delete my old account and create a new one without losing all of my current Inbox e-mails, customized mailboxes, smart mailboxes etc. I have no doubt this process has been outlined somewhere on this forum but after some searching I haven't found anything. If someone could point me to a previous thread, I'd greatly appreciate it.
And, out of curiosity, if anyone has any idea what could have caused this (Apple Support and Internet Provider tech support both stymied) to happen, I would be interested to know!
Thanks in advance for anyone's time.

Hi Deirdre, and a warm welcome to the forums!
    For safety...
First Quit Mail, then I'd backup these two Mail folders, by right clicking on them in the Finder, then choose Archive/Compress.
    Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail
    Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail Downloads
(Could be a different folder here if you chose such in Mail Prefs)
Right click on that Mail folder, choose archive, you'll get everything in the folder, and the folder itself in a file called Mail.zip, move it to a safe place, same for the Mail Downloads folder... only the plist is separate.
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Is this bad account IMAP or POP?
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup

  • I do not receive all my e-mailson all my devices. I seem to get them all on my iPhone 5s, but not all show up on my iPad and iMac. they are all set up the same. Any Ideas on what is going on and what I can do to remedy this? thanks

I have an iMac with OS X Lion 10.7.5,an iPhone 5s with iOS 7.1.2 and an iPad with iOS 7.1.2. all software is up to date. My problem is I do not receive all my e-mail on all 3 devices all the time. I seem to get them on my phone , but not all show up on my iMac or iPad. Any ideas as to what is going on and what can I do to resolve this issue? thanks

On the iPhone, go into Settings -> Store and turn off "Automatic Downloads" for Apps (and Music and Books, if you wish). You can also do that on the iPad to prevent it from going in the opposite direction.
That will stop any automatic downloading... to prevent them from coming over when using iTunes, select the phone (under Devices), Apps, and then uncheck "Automatically sync new apps." Again, do the same for the iPad if you wish.

  • I'm not receiving any mail into the Junk Mailbox

    Hi
I had a problem with the ports of the 2 accounts that I have set up in Mail (one of those is mac.com) due to an excess of space used. I tried several options and it finally it worked. As a result, a week later I realised that I was not receiving any mail into the Junk Mailbox... I don't know if it is related to the orher problem, maybe not.
Essentially I am no longer receiving any junk mail at all - and no mail that is even doubtful (ie from an unknown address). The mails are not showing up even online via MobileMe ... so I have no idea where they are!
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, I'm the author of the form and I expected the generic notification to be sent to that email but none is coming through.  I also see that there is a place on the settings page to enter a custom notification email but that is grayed out unless I upgrade.  I just want at least one, generic email to be sent to me so that I can know when a user submits a form.
    Here's my screen shots:

  • Some clients are not receiving my mail attachments.

Some clients are not receiving my mail attachments. Other recipients of the same email DO receive these attachments. It doesn't matter whether it is a jpg, pdf, doc, or other. Sending from gmail or entourage works, only sending from apple mail is a problem.  This has been an ongoing problem for me in Lion and Snow Leopard. I'm new to this forum, so not sure I'm posting in the right area, but I've searched for an answer and can't find anything. Do I need a plug-in or something?  I like my apple mail and don't want to switch, but this is a real problem for me.  Help, please!

We have the same problem in Snow Leopard, so the problem isn't new. I've been researching this for a while now. Based on what I've read in a whole load of discussions it seems it's an issue in the way Outlook reads the e-mails send by Apple Mail. I've no idea of the technicalities of this but one obvious difference is that Mail's default formatting is Rich Text and Outlook's is HTML, but what do I know.
We've done variuos test with our PC based clients but with no success: Send as Icon; Window's friendly attachement; Mail Attachement Iconiser, etc. Nothing gets rid of the problem entirely. We're a Mac based Public Relations agency and we send image to the media all of the time...and we have no guarantees that they are getting through.
It's frustrating that Mail doesn't have an option, as it does for plain text, to send in an outlook friendly way. To me it's a huge problem and if Apple isn't going to sort it, given that Outlook is the choice of Enterprise and 95% of our clients, then we're going to have to spend thousands and switch to Outlook. Apple have gone to great pains to promote cross-compatibility with PC's and perhaps this is one little example of where they could try harder.
Mail has not had much obvious love and attention for a while and if there's an Apple employee looking in on this thread, perhaps it's time to love it up, give it a few more bells and whistles (without over-complicating of course) and make it sing with Outlook.
My last attenpt is to try Thunderbird as a default mail client; I'm told it doesn't suffer from the same PC compatibility issues.

  • Style not receiving all email messages

I recently changed mail-servers. Neither the current nor the previous mail server are in house. We route our in-house email through MS Exchange Server. We do not run BB Enterprise Server so I have set up my BB Style to go directly to the external mail server. I am using MS Outlook 2010 on my desktop computer.
My BB Style is not receiving all the emails coming to me. Some emails come through our MS Exchange Server but not to my BB. Other emails are received both on my device and desktop.
Any ideas why this is happening.
    Barry
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Referring back to Post 2 in this thread -- if your email server (the one facing the Internet, with which BIS interacts) is capable of reconciling with the BB (via BIS) items deleted on the server, then you have no choice in the matter, given what you've now been told.
If you absolutely must retain all items on your BB, then you would I suppose need to set up an auto forwarder that sends everything you receive in your Outlook client out to a different email address. Then you integrate that to your BB so that you can keep that library of items on your BB. You, of course, cannot use those items for any useful purpose (e.g., if you reply, it'll be coming from this secondary email address), but at least you'd have them on your BB.
What your IT person told you is, however, quite unusual indeed. MS Exchange is intended to be a post office and mailbox containing entity, and has a ton of other power as well. I've never actually heard before of anyone using it in this manner, requiring that the client app remove items from the server (encouragement is always in place, via mailbox size quotas and such...but the requirement is rather unusual in my experience). That requirement would seem to make your MS Exchange environment function much more like a POP/SMTP environment, negating all of the power of MS Exchange, and thereby causing me to think that you are not getting the value from that environment that it offers. But, to each his own!
    Good luck!

  • Not receiving forwarded mail

I am not receiving forwarded mail from a work-related web-based email site. Everything on that site seems to be okay -- only the address you want the mail to be forwarded to needs to be entered. It is correct so it should be going through.
I am thinking it must be some setting in Mail that is causing the problem. I have turned off all junk email filtering to see if that would solve the problem but it doesn't. If someone with the work address emails me, it goes through so I do not think that address is being blocked by Mail. No one else at work has a problem receiving forwarded email on their home computers. It must be something on my computer but I cannot figure it out.
Any ideas? I do have the Apple firewall on -- do I need to change something there?

Hi. I am having the exact same issue with my x2 forwarded domain names routed through Easily.co.uk. It also started around the same date as yours. My e-mail had been fine, but now I get a 'random' e-mail every now and again (as though somebody is letting the odd e-mail through, just to keep me happy), but I'm not even receiving 'test' e-mails I have sent to myself to my x2 forwarded domains.
The odd thing is that my spam folder is still accepting e-mails that have my forwarded e-mail addresses on in my online BT account, so they can get through, but the e-mails I need to actually receive are not getting through....and suprise suprise, BT have their usual 'BS'...'we are very busy at the moment' cobblers on the phone so I cant get through to speak to somebody about it. Anybody got any ideas??
    Cheers.

  • Mac E-Mail Not Receiving Incoming Mail From ATT/Yahoo Mail Server

Recently "upgraded" to ATT U-verse. My Mac email client (3.6) suddenly not receiving incoming mail from the web-based ATT/Yahoo. Settings-all are correct: Telephone talk with Tier 1 and Tier 2 ATT reps confirmed "unusual" problem, and that the settings (ports, ssl, etc.) are indeed all correct. Tier 2 supervisor referred ticket (F23576784) to the brilliant minds at Yahoo for help. I've heard nothing for five days. Some emails do get received on my client, from (Apple, ATT, for example). Others languish on the web-based mail, with no push to my iMac. Tests of sending myself e-mails continue to confirm problem, with test emails sitting at Yahoo server, no push to my Mac client.
I am able to send e-mails successfully from client. Interestingly, a couple of incoming e-mails from friends did manage to slip through the lines and arrive in my Mac client a couple of days late. Brave little souls, they're not talking.
I've tried all sockets, all other settings possible, but no luck. Why is there no straight-forward answer to this proliferating problem? Odd e-mail behaviors? No documented or shared answers by the big outfits to Mac users? Mac mail virtually disabled and useless? Has anyone found a path to resolving the varied but similar problems in this area yet? Thanks in advance for any help offered beyond adjusting preferences over and over and over. That ain't working.
    Stuiee

Geez, some emails are getting through, most are not forwarded to my client MacMail. They are also marked as read, which could mean that Yahoo is forwarding them somewhere...(?) Can't get ahold of Yahoo, ATT forwards me to Yahoo, Yahoo has no method of emailing real, technical questions, ATT supervisor actually called Apple and there is nothing wrong with the OS or my set up requirements.
Does anyone know a workaround for setting up smtp requirements? Can't switch email clients at this time, would take a lot of changing existing contact info for bizz.
At this point all I would like to know is, where is the problem? Why does a server (ATT/Yahoo) send some mail to my account, not send others, and marks all messages on the webmail as read? Thanks for the one response, I do believe the problem is some minor error set at the isp's server software for Macs, but who knows?

  • Do not receive E-mail from apple.

have forgotten my password.assigning my E-mail for recoving password.i do not receive E-mail from apple

I have a similar issue: I can send and receive email on my MBA, from my iPad and iPhone, but suddenly I can't send or receive on my MBP (computers running 10.8.4). I can get mail from icloud.com.
In System Preferences I signed out of my icloud account and then re-entered my credentials and signed in again: No Change.
I have the Triangle with the ! in the middle of it next to my Inbox. I've gone to Mailboxes > Take all accounts on Line with no change.
In Mail Preferences nothing has changed and all Accounts tabs are exactly the same as on my MBA which succesfully receives mail.
The Connection Doctor indicates that there is a problem with iCloud IMAP mail.
I've tried turning off SSL: No Change
    What to do?

  • Not receiving all email to primary Apple ID address since the creation of an alias

Not receiving all email to primary Apple ID address since the creation of an alias

All email sent to your iCloud email alias address should be received in your iCloud inbox.  If email is being addressed to your alias when you think it should be addressed to your primary address it may be because the sender replied to an email you inadvertently sent from your alias address.  You might want to confirm that your primary address is set as your default for sending mail.  See "set default address to send from" here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm6b1a490a.
