Number of Cluster / Votingdisks

Hey,
during clusterware setup 10.2.0.4 (SLES10 - 2nod rac)
I set the OCR Configuration to Normal Redundancy - selected
/dev/raw/raw1 ( which is on san1)
and
/dev/raw/raw2 ( which is on san2)
as ocr disks.
For the voting disks
I set
/dev/raw/raw3 ( which is on san1)
/dev/raw/raw4 ( which is on san2)
/dev/raw/raw5 ( which is on san1)
Now I switched off my san2.
ocrcheck did not came back.
As I switch san2 back on - both nodes were rebooting. Logfiles showed something like clusterware initiated reboot for consistency
Is this due to just one remaining voting disks ? Would help, when I add an additional voting disks on san2 ?
Is it possible to place more ocr disks to the configuration ? Does this even make sense ?
Chris

Hi,
As you know The voting disk records node membership information. A node must be able to access more than half of the voting disks at any time. To avoid simultaneous loss of multiple voting disks, each voting disk should be on a storage device that does not share any components (controller, interconnect, and so on) with the storage devices used for the other voting disks.
For example, if you have five voting disks configured, then a node must be able to access at least three of the voting disks at any time. If a node cannot access the minimum required number of voting disks it is evicted, or removed, from the cluster. After the cause of the failure has been corrected and access to the voting disks has been restored, you can instruct Oracle Clusterware to recover the failed node and restore it to the cluster
You can add an OCR location after an upgrade or after completing the Oracle RAC installation. If you already mirror the OCR, then you do not need to add an OCR location; Oracle Clusterware automatically manages two OCRs when you configure normal redundancy for the OCR. Oracle RAC environments do not support more than two OCRs, a primary OCR and a secondary OCR

  • How could I enlarge the number of cluster(o-cluster)

when I make the model build in DM Oracle9i
the option of clustering is defalut
(sensitivity 0.5 and max cluster number 10)
then o-cluster makes clusters 20 clusters and leaf cluster is 10
but I want to make more detail(large) cluster..
so, I increase the sensitivity 1.0F and max cluster number 20 then o-cluster make the same result.
How could I solve this problem?

O-Cluster will only return as many clusters it is supported by the data. For example, suppose the data is a bundled together in a single region. O-Cluster will only return a single cluster even if you bump up the max number of clusters. The max number of cluster only limits the number of cluster (leaves) O-Cluster will return. It doesn't force it to return that number of clusters. Increasing the sensitivity will make O-Cluster return smaller clusters (case they exist).
In summary there is no mechanism to force O-Cluster to make more clusters if it doesn't find that the data supports a larger number of clusters. If you would like to get a specific number of cluster or to explicitly control how many clusters are returned, K-Means is a better suited for this.

  • Can I automate the creation of a cluster in LabView using the data structure created in an autogenerated .CSV, C header, or XML file?

Can I automate the creation of a cluster in LabView using the data structure created in an auto generated .CSV, C header, or XML file?  I'm trying to take the data structure defined in one or more of those files listed and have LabView automatically create a cluster with identical structure and data types.  (Ideally, I would like to do this with a C header file only.)  Basically, I'm trying to avoid having to create the cluster by hand, as the number of cluster elements could be very large. I've looked into EasyXML and contacted the rep for the add-on.  Unfortunately, this capability has not been created yet.  Has anyone done something like this before? Thanks in advance for the help.

Is this something you're trying to do at runtime? Clusters are fixed data structures so you can't change them programmatically. Or, are you just trying to create some typedef cluster controls so that you can use them for coding? What would your clusters basically look like? Perhaps another way of holding the information like an array of variants?
You can try LabVIEW scripting, though be aware that this is not supported by NI.
Wow!  Thanks for the quick response!  We would use this cluster as a fixed data structure.  No need to change the structure during runtime.  The cluster would be a cluster of clusters with multiple levels.  There would be not pattern as to how deep these levels would go, or how many elements would be in each.   Here is the application.  I would like to be able to autocode a Simulink model file into a DLL.  The model DLL would accept a Simulink bus object of a certain data structure (bus of buses), pick out which elements of the bus is needed for the model calculation, and then pass the bus object.  I then will take the DLL file and use the DLL VI block to pass a cluster into the DLL block (with identical structure as the bus in Simulink).  To save time, I would like to auto generate the C header file using Simulink to define the bus structure and then have LabView read that header file and create the cluster automatically.   Right now I can do everything but the auto creation of the cluster.  I can manually build the cluster to match the Simulink model bus structure and it runs fine.  But this is only for an example model with a small structure.  Need to make the cluster creation automated so it can handle large structures with minimal brute force. Thanks!

  • CSV Redirected status is not displayed in cluster MMC

I've seen a strange behaviour in the cluster's MMC
I have created a cluster with 2 Windows Server 2012 R2 and a HP MSA FC storage.
2 LUNs were created : one for quorum and the other for VHDX storage configured as CSV.
In order to test redirected access of CSV disk, I've unmapped the storage LUN for node 2 from within the MSA management interface (SMU).
    Then :
    - Node 1 is accessing fine the LUN
    - Node 2 can't access it through FC
As expected node 2 didn't loose access to storage. Get-ClusterSharedVolumeState shows that the volume is "BlockRedirected" for node 2. While copying data on the CSV from node 2 I can see that the network dedicated to CSV is heavy loaded.
With the Cluster MMC, things are more complicated : the CSV status is green "OnLine" (I expected to see yellow / redirected). Right Click / Properties shows "no" for redirected access... (it is actually true!)
The only way to figure out that the disk is redirected is displaying critical events from event log for this disk.
Is it a normal behaviour ? Shouldn't the MMC display the actual status of the disk ?

Infact, I couldn't check this on a Windows Server 2012. However, I know that this counter is incorrect on a 2012 R2. Even the host is in redirected mode, the status says false.
Few weeks back, I was trying to capture the CSV Status in my
Hyper-V dashboard using this option - but dropped that idea as it was not working on 2012 R2. I did this check only on R2 as my lab only have R2 and I assumed that as we have an alternate with 2012 R2, may be deprecated. Now we can conclude that we
cannot make use of sharedvolumeinfo property.
The option available right now in my mind is to check for the event and double check for the number of cluster disk visible on each host, Though its not the best way.
    Get-Disk |where {$_.isClustered -eq "True"}
I am also keen to get this information as I would like to pinpoint the DISK which is in CSV redirected mode on my next version of Dashboard.  Lets see if any of our friends could make an easy way.
    Good luck !

  • CLUSTER  HELP RQD

i am confused with cluster... after creating cluster.. how to query..? physically it stores the values of joining records. but how to view it..? pls help
    create cluster emp_dept(deptno number(10));
    CREATE TABLE dept1
        deptno NUMBER(10)   ,
        name   VARCHAR2(20),
        loc    VARCHAR2(20)
      cluster emp_dept
        deptno
    create index IDX on cluster emp_dept;
    drop table dept1
    CREATE TABLE emp1
        empno  NUMBER(5)   ,
        name   VARCHAR2(20),
        sal    NUMBER(10,2),
        deptno NUMBER(10)
      cluster emp_dept
        deptno
)SELECT * FROM EMP_DEPT ( Table or view does not exists error)
also help me what is cluster id here..
select  * from tab  where tname like 'EMP%'  OR  TNAME LIKE 'DEPT%'S

You dont query the cluster you just query the related tables joining them by the cluster key.
Cluster is a method of storage where data from different table are stored in the same block based on the cluster key.
you should try a query like the below
    select e.empno, e.name, d.deptno, d.name
      from emp e
      join dept d
on e.deptno = d.deptnoAnd if you check the explain plan then oracle would have accessed the cluster.

  • O Cluster Algorithm giving only one cluster

    hello,
I am using Oracle 10g O Cluster Algorithm for clustering. i have 790 rows of data with 18 attributes all are of float data type.
I am using ODM for creating clustering, but clustering resulting in creation of only one cluster.
can any body knows what is the actual problem.
    please reply soon..
    thanks in advance

It is possible for OCluster (OC) to return a single cluster if it did not find any natural clusters in the data. That is, it did not find any split in the data that would separate well the data into two groups. The number of clusters settings in OC is not the desired number of cluster but the maximum number of clusters. One way to validate this is to look at the histogram of your 18 attributes and see if there are clear peaks and valleys. In order for OC to find a split you should see at least two peaks with a reasonably deep valley (the actual criterion is statistical) in one of the attributes. If you don't see that than OC would not create more than one cluster. I am assuming that you are using ODMR and the data preparation steps suggested by ODMR.
You can also try to increase the sensitivity parameter. This will allow OC to accept clusters that it would not consider significant otherwise.
If you still want to partition your data even when OC did not find any clusters than you may try KM. KM will split the data into K clusters as long as there is enough data for that.

  • Sun Cluste 3.1 with SAN 6320 - Any Known Issues?

    Hello,
We are moving to new Sun hardware with following configurations.
Solaris 8,Sun Cluster 3.1, Oracle 8.0.6.3 on two V1280 connected to Sun Stordege SAN 6320. SAN is also connected to 5 other machines including one windows 2000.
Following were the limitations which we came across during the testing phase.
    1. Maximum LUN you can have on a 6320 , co-existing with SUN Cluster is 16. ( You can not have more than 16 LUNS configured on 6320..!)
    2. Maximum number of CLUSTER nodes that you can have with 6320 is FOUR.

    An update on the same..
we are having issues with SAN 6320.
SAN hangs when we use 7 nodes with Sun CLuster 3.1 simultaneously accessing the volumes. No volumes are being accessed from moer than a single node.

Any idea?  Also, I notice some forum thread that mentions we cannot setup R/3 4.6c connection within Portal.  Our user store/CUA is on R/3 4.6c.
    Is this true?
    Thanks,
    Edmond

    Hi Edmond,
it's not the ume, it's the com.sap.portal.usermanagement.admin package.
In order to redeploy it, go to following directory:
    <drive>\usr\sap\<SAPSID>\JC<instance number>\j2ee\cluster\server0 \apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment\pcd
look for the com.sap.portal.usermanagement.admin.par.bak, remove the suffix .bak and restart your engine.
Don't know of this helps, but maybe it's worth a try.

  • Error while approving work item

    Hi All,
I am getting error while approving a claim request; error is:
error while inserting claim record xxxxxxx in cluster for employee xxxxxxxx
This does not happen always, some time I am able to approve and sometime i got the error.
I am using same set of user ids and same perspnal nos; does this thing matters and causing this issue or this should not cause this problem.
    Please advice!
    Thanks and Regards,
    Honey

    Hi Honey,
Could you please check note number: 1374072 which is for the PY-IN-PS.  I don't think that this warning message that you are seeing is applicable to the UWL or generated from the UWL component.  Error messages like this are usually generated from the ABAP system and more specifically from the application area.  Another hint would be to check ST22 to see if there is a short dump occuring in the backend system.
According to the note, this error will be thrown when:
"Error on Approver Screen stating "Error while inserting claim
record <Reference Number> in cluster for employee <Employee
Number>". This happens only when the approver tries approving the
request almost immediately after the employee has submitted the
    request."
I hope that this information is helpful to you.

    I am using EP7.0 and BI7.0 from ECC6.0
Please help me inthis what might be the problem....?
    Thanks inadvance.
    Lohi.

    Dear
Guide information looks correct to me.
It's pretty hard to tell you what is wrong with so little information.
Check the defaulttrace.trc trace file of your portal environment.
Location depends on stack type (abap + java or java only)
    Located in /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS<instance nr>/j2ee/cluster/server0/log/system/
    OR
    Located in /usr/sap/<SID>/JC<instance number>/j2ee/cluster/server0/log/
It is very likely error messages are being written there that can be useful to help solve this issue.
Please paste its content in here, perhaps even from other log files that might contain valuable info.
    Kind regards
    Tom
