Number range transport request

Hi,
pls tell me are number range intervals  not transported using transport request, if yes then how are number ranges appear in prod. server.
thanks
Kavita

Hi All,
thanks for the inputs, but wish to understand the scenario completely I am practicing on IDES and i have been told tht we do not transport number range requests....my question is once we maintain number ranges on dev. server and then carry out customistion i.e. creating OM objetcs like position, job etc......which will be alloted numbers.....now when we move to prd server....then will these objetcs have the same numbers.....or first we maintain number range in prd server then import the customised OM objects
sorry to bother ....but need to understand
thanks Kavita

  • STMS: Add a great number of transport requests to the queue

    Hi everybody!
we make a system copy and I have two questions regarding this.
    1. After the system has been copied, we have to add a great number of transport requests to the transport queue (transaction STMS). Is there a report to to this?
    2. Of course, the transport requests added to the queue have to be imported. Is it possible to mark them all at a time and then start the import? I mean, if one specific object (for instance a reportsource) is part of several transport requests, does the STMS ensure that they are imported in the correct order, so that the following won't happen: a imported object is overwritten by a older version.
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Regards
    CHRIS

As Sunny said you can do it from OS as there is no SAP program. Create a file with the all transports no. that you want to add to the buffer at the OS level. Here is the script that we use:
    for i in `cat file_name`
    do
    tp addtobuffer $i SID client=xxx pf=TP_DOMAIN_SID.PFL
    done
For you second question, the sequence of import into the system will be based on how they are listed in the STMS queue. So first transports goes first then the second, third and so on.
    Hope this helps.

  • Number range transport problem in Internal orders

    Hi,
I created new internal order type in KOT2_OPA t. code and at the time of saving it is asking number range. so i assigned one number range interval to the order type and saved the application in development server and noted down the request number. i released the request to the Testing and Quality server. in that it is not showing the number range in quality server. What i have to do. Does i have to do any configuration for the moving of number ranges to testing from development. please guide me deeply it is very urgent for me.

    Hi,
Number range objects can be saved in workbench requests & transported manually.

  • Number ranges  transport -urgent

    Hi
When we use copy company code function,as i noticed the number ranges of the
source company code will be will be copied for the target company code.
When i see the number ranges after transporting to QAS all number range status are set to zero for the target company code .when i checked the request it  contains  NIRV Table entries for the target company code.
Now my question is ,copy company code request contains entries in so many tables including NRIV,If i tranport this request my worry is does it overwrite the
all the PRD number ranges data or just it will updates only the Target company code data.
    Thanks
    Lily

    Hi,
When you copy a company it copied the number ranges to the target company and put this in the transport for the new company code (not the old one).
In the situation I used this it was no problem.
Have a look in your transport and there you can see the key field with the company code for the transport.
When you are not hapy for 100% make screen prints from the numberranges in PRD before you tranport it. When it's go wrong you change it manual back.
(Do only transports dor new companies not existing companies)

  • Number Range Transport (BW)

    Hi Gurus,
We are transporting the BW objects from the BW Dev box to QA. Due to unavailabilty of few number range objects the transport got failed. We went to SNRO in QA to define the Number Range for RS_OBJNUMG. On again importing the same request, we got the issue resolved.
<b>Is this a recommended way</b> for any BW Transport (both QA and Production)?
Is it a good idea to execute the following programs in the target box (QA or Production)?
    RSDG_REPAIR_NUMBER_RANGES
    RSDG_OBJNUMG_CREATE_INTERVAL
The number ranges are maintained in NRIV. The number of records in this table is different in Dev Box and QA/Production box. <b>How can we have both Dev box and QA box in sync in terms of number range objects?</b>
This time my questions more or less revolve around- <b>how do we maintain number range in Quality and Production</b>?
I would appreciate all the help.

    Hi check this

  • Large number of transport request released from Dev

    Hello Gurus,
Our Landscape for Dev consist of three clients. We do development in one client and the testing teams test it in another client. We maintained all these clients in a route which takes around 10 mins to reach after releasing a transport and when testing team fails the test then we correct the error and again create a fresh transport and release it. I understand at some point we are going to reach Maximum number of transports.
Normally, If the tesing team fails the test two times. I create a test role in a testing client and request the user to test it. When everything goes well then I insert it into original role. But all this stuff takes time.
Please advise if there is any other way also to cut this short.

The number range for transports is alphanumeric  (over 40 million free numbers are available ). Have a look at sap note [106911|https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap%28bD1kZSZjPTAwMQ==%29/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=10691] for details.

You could copy customizing transport requests via transaction SCC1. But personally I would not recommend this.

  • Prefix Number range: Transport number range

    Hi All,
Here is the situation. there are 2 dev servers. the prefix number range in both are maintained as 901 . The workflows will be trasported to a single prod servers. Now as i understand this will create some trouble in prod coz two workflows in two system might have the same number.
Now I think maintaining different number range might help. but when transporting to prod how willl this number range will be taken into account. I mean how to make sure that 901 will be transported as 901 and same as 902 range? Do i need to maintain some config in prod system or just reserving both the number ranges 901 and 902 in prod will solve the issue? Just need some confirmation ..
    Thanks in Adv !
    Anuj Sethi

Exactly. The numeric ID that is assigned to your workflow template follows it through the transport system in the same way that the include for a function module follows it.
The difference between workflow templates and reports (in this matter) is that you are not allowed to define the program name of the workflow template. Instead it is composed from the prefix and the next available number in that prefix range.

  • Number Ranges- Transport

    Hai Gurus,
Can we transport number ranges from one envt to other envt.
    can any one please clarify the doubt;
If it can be transported what are the preventive measures to taken care.
    Thanks in Advance
    take care
    sameer

    Dear sameer basha
No number ranges cannot be transported from one client to another client.  It should be created and assigned in the same client.  For example, if you want to maintain some number ranges for sales documents, you should create in production client itself using TCode VN01.
    thanks

  • Vendor Master Number Ranges....Transportable?

    Hi All,
Are Number Ranges transportable? For example if I create a new account group for the Vendor and Number rage in developement and maintain the interval for the number rage....would all of this be transported to production? Or do I have maintain the interval in the production?
    Can anyone clarify?
    T

    Hi,
yes, we can transport all the number ranges. U try XKN1 , first u create a Request by selecting "Interval---->Transport". Now u created a request having all number ranges. Now we can import all the numer ranges by using this request.
I hope u may get some idea...

  • Accounting document number range by division

We have a customer that has the following scenario: One company with two divisions, for differente countries.
    Company code: 200
    Divisions 281 and 284
When trying to release to accounting in VF02  a document created in division 284, is it possible to assign it to a different number range than the one used by division 281 ?

    Hello,
    If this a real scenario?
Ideally speaking for operations in each Country we create a seperate Company code. (except for Euro one)
Secondly Division is a two character field not three character as you have mentioned.
Further I feel your requirement is not possible with SAP Standard settings.
But if you sales Invoice number ranges are seperate for each Division, then there are couple of threads in the forum explaining the process to have same Sales Invoice & Accounting Number Ranges. Request you to search the forum & you will find a solution.

  • Transport request for BW queries and roles.

    Hi All,
we need to craete 20 bw queries on 4 multiproviders. We need to save 18 queries as workbooks in one role and the other 2 queries in other role.  Both the roles and queries does not exist and will be created in Developement environment.
We just want to know how we can transport them in the quality environment. What is the right method to transport them.
Can we transport all the object queries, workbooks and roles in number of transport requests so that if few queries or workbooks needs any changes then we do not have to transport all objects just the request which includes the changed objects.
    Thanks & Kind Regards,
    Hardeep

Thanks a lot for all of you for your quick response. But i still have questions.
If we create one transport for roles and one transport for each query then we will be having 21 transport requests. But the transport request on same multiprovider can lock the clacuated key figures and restricted key figures, if they are present in more than one query, it means they will be present in more than one transport requests, so they can be locked and trasport request will be failed.
If i just create one transport request for all the objects roles, quaries & workbooks it will not loack any object, and transport request will not fail. But i have to transport all the objects again if i need to change one of the queries.
Please let me know if there is a method that i can divide my queries as per multiprovider and can create transport requests as per multiprovider so that we can not lock calculated keyfigures and restricted key figures. Is workbooks can be published in the role in the same transport request. If it is and if in more than one transport request we are publishing the different workbooks to the same role, will it lock the role.

  • Transport Request Creation.

    Hi,
This is not an Issue, but I want advice from you people.
In Materials Management, I am doing the following IMG Activities:
    a.     Copy plant
    b.     Maintain Purchasing Organization
    c.     Assign purchasing organization to company code
    d.     Assign purchasing organization to plant
    e.     Create Purchasing Groups
While doing the above activities, I have created the following Requests:
    a.     IEDK900064: MM: Copy Plant, Assignment Plant-Company Code
    b.     IEDK900072: MM: Maintain Purchasing Organization
    c.     IEDK900076: MM: Create Purchasing Groups
Please note that I have created the Transport Request based on the nature of the Activity, for example, I have saved activities b, c and d in the same Request.
Here in our Team, the other Consultants are not agreeing with my way of working. They say that I should create only one Transport Request and save all my Activities in the same Transport Request.
What is the better way to do the same?
    Please advice.
    Regards,

    Hi PK (and others),
Best practice change control experts would argue either way really.
Assuming all your changes are related to one another, ie required to resolve the business request for change (RFC), then it makes perfect sence to do what you can to tie them all together. That is minimize the number of transport requests in order to make sure they are all treated as a single unit of work to ensure all are transported from DEV - QAS - PRD in a unified manner..
However, as mentioned by others, this may not be the most sensible way to manage the work. For example if any of your config requires adjusting it might have been best to have each within its own transport request.
Best practice change control would have some way of tying each transport request back to its source RFC so that when the RFC status is approved then each would be moved with the set treated as a single unit of work.
There are SAP specific software tools available for this, SolMan CharM being one but there are also a number of third party options.
    Perhaps this is helpful.

  • To change the Transport Request Number Range.

    <b>Hi Experts,</b>
My customer needs a typical solution.
He wants SAP to create the Future Transport Requests starting from 10000. ( Ten thousand)
now the sequential order is 321
that is <SID><K9>00321. From now on the new transport request should start from 10000
    i.e.
    <SID><K9>100000
    <SID><K9>100001
    <SID><K9>100002
    etc.
    Is it possible. ?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi
Check the report RSWBO301 and check its documentation..
Press "I" button in the selection screen to get the documentation..
I believe this might solve your problem...
    Program documentation
    Short text
Number Assignment for Requests: Find Free Interval
    Description
This report program searches for a free interval for numbering requests.
If the search is successful, you can save the interval. The request
numbers are then taken from this interval.
    Requirement
For customers the number range interval includes the follwing areas:
    o   900000-999999 (just numerals)
o   9A0000-9ZZZZZ for ASCII character set or
            9AAAAA-9Z9999 for EBSDIC character set.
You only need to execute this program if you have come to the end of the
number range interval, but there are still large gaps in the range that
         you want to use up.
    Example
Why you might get into this situation:
The customer has the R/3 System C11. The last number assigned is
C11K900115. The customer now imports transport request C11K9ZZZZA
from an external R/3 System C11 into the customer system C11. The
next request created in this system will have the number C11K9ZZZZB
                                                                                    Procedure
    Proceed as follows:
    1.  Execute this program in transaction SE38.
    2.  Enter the interval limit, for example 5000. You can change this
             limit at any time.
    3.  Choose Execute.
If you entered an interval limit of 5000, the report searches for a
free interval with a size of 5000.
    4.  If the search was successful, you can save this interval. If not,
repeat the search with a smaller interval.

  • Number range for transport request re-initiliazed

    Hello,
We use CTS+ to manage non-abap system transport request (in our case : portal content request).
We just change the domain controller and now the new domain controller begin to generate the transport request number from 0 (the first ONE is SIDK900001). AS you can understand we want to continue the transport request with the immediate following number from the last transport request generated in the old doimain controller.
How can we achieve that ?
Is there a number range to change in the new domain controller or anything else to customize it ?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello Mathias,
Honestly, I am not sure for non-abap transports.
    For abap transport:
The number of the latest transport request is stored in field TRKORR
of table E070L. You can change this number using database tools.
Be aware that problems will occur if requests from another system with
the same <SID> are transported to this system, as they could have the
    same range number.
    Check also the following notes:.
106911 - Transport system: number range filled for requests
12799  - Old correction numbers reassigned after recovery
Hope this helps also in your situation.

  • Transport Request Number range

    Hi All
I've created a new dev system for an upgrade project, but would like to start the Transport Requests off with a distinct number range.
Can anyone remind which table has the "Next Transport Request" number that I'll be able to set?
    Ken

    Hi..
You can try to make program with this code.
    data : wa_E070L type E070L.
    wa_e070l-lastnum = 'TRKORR'.
    WA_E070L-TRKORR = 'DEVK9xxxxx'.
    MODIFY E070L FROM WA_E070L.
    Where DEVK9xxxxx is number range.
