Numbers of SQL Server CAL license required ?

Hi,
We are going to set up a SQL Server 2012 Server with 2 instances.  The first instance has 25 maximum number of concurrent users and the second one has 10 concurrent users.
Does it mean that we need to purchase 25 + 10 = 35 CAL license for the setup ?
Thanks

  • SQL Server Denali is required to install integration services

    Hi,
I've just installed a named instance of SQL Server 2014. I'm trying to create the SSISDB catalog and getting the following error.
"SQL Server Denali is required to install integration services"
I have 3 instances on my machine.
    1. Default instance SQL Server 2012 SP1
    2. Named instance SQL Server 2008 SP1
    3. Named instance SQL Server 2014 SP1
The SSISDB creation works on the 2012 instance.

  • Server CAL License for SAP Server

    Hi
Do we need Windows Server CAL for SAP Server, as we have Server 2008 R2 for our SAP Server.
    Please guide.
    Regards
    Ajay Goel

    Hi Wee,
By definition every device connecting to a Windows server needs a CAL. However, neither the OS nor the SAP system "counts" them.
Depending on which kind of clients you have (Windows XP/Vista OEM, Volume licenses etc.) you have a CAL included.
So based on SAP users created and other users required in your landscape , you may procure respective CALS.
    Hope this helps.

  • SQL Server Express - License Confusion

    Good day everyone,
We were audited for Microsoft Installations recently and the auditing company indicated that we need to pay license fees for SQL Express installations as core components like Reporting Services have been installed with the SQL Express Instance.
Please advise if that is the case, because as far as I know SQL Server Express is free to use and free to deploy. Honestly this sounds like someone trying to make money for something that was provided free of charge to the community.
Thank you in advance for any wisdom shared.

  • SQL Server 2012 Licensing Development - Production

I currently have 4 environments dev, qa ,staging and production each has a separate SQL 2012 instance on its own server (4 Instances).  My question is on licensing SQL Server and when developers edition licensing can be used and when it become production
licensing.  For Example:  If developers are working local connecting to development DB and/or local DB.  What is the proper licensing model?  Can I consider these three environments development and not use a SQL Enterprise license?
If so each developer must have an MSDN account for the licensing?   I am a little foggy on when is developers edition becomes SQL Enterprise License.

  • Disaster Recovery-MS SQL Server 2008 License

We are planning to build a Disaster Recovery environment for Production Environment. Technology used: SharePoint Foundation2010, MSBI and MS Sql Server 2008 Standard.
Current Production Server has SQL Server2008 standard (Core license) installed in it.

  • SQL Server Gateway Licensing - Production and Test

I have a client who has two databases that need to use the SQL Server Gateway - production and test (two separate servers).
As the gateway is separately licensed and can be installed on a separate machine from the database server am I right in saying that only one license is needed for the Gateway
and that both test and production databases can use it?
The Oracle Partner that they use is telling them that they need to buy two Gateway licences.
    Can any one help? Thanks!

  • SQL server client memory required

    Hy
I want to ask, that I have a MS SQL 2000 Enterprise edition server. How much memory required per client. I know, the SQL system memory required (more 1 G) but my question is, if my SQL server use plus one client, how much memory must take in my blade?
    pls help

Although there are some thumb rules out there, it is hard to tell as you did not specify which kind of access the users are doing at the database. For ressource intensive querying you should put more memory in your server, where on the other hand you would not have that much memory for users doing plain and simple (Select / DML ) operations. How many users do you have, how many are connected on average, what are they doing on the database ?

  • Question about MS SQL Server 2012 License on a server (renting/buying)

    Hi,
I am currently paying about $300 per month to the hosting company for the MS SQL 2012 Standard Edition (for 4 cores) on my server, my question is, can I just buy MS SQL 2012 STD outright ( for example here http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/pdp/SQL-Server-Standard-Edition-2012/productID.281182400
) for around $3k and stop paying hosting company $300 monthly ?
If I am able to just buy it outright, is it possible to switch the licensing code to the new one that I bought without reinstalling or loosing database?
    Thank you.

  • SQL Server 2012 Edition required for my case??

    Hi,
I am setting up a SharePoint 2013 BI environment with minimal servers. Below is the configuration:
    1) WFE1 - Front End Server Role
    2) APP1 - Application Server Role with SSRS 2012, SSAS in SharePoint mode.
SQL Server 2012 BI edition is used here for SSRS and SSAS in SharePoint mode
    3) DB Server  - SharePoint content databases only
    - Can this SQL Server be standard edition ? or does this server also need to have minimum BI features which means it should be BI or Enterprise edition?
    Thanks

    Hi Sandeep,
Thanks for posting your query, Below are the URLs that describe the situation to USE the SQL SERVER Standard or Enterprise Edition for BI features. Kindly go through these URLs once to get the difference.

    http://searchsqlserver.techtarget.com/feature/SQL-Server-Standard-Edition-Why-its-worth-the-cost
Of course, you will get more features for BI in as sequence SQL Server Edition mentioned below
    Express < Standard < Enterprise
Moreover, browse the below mentioned URL to enable BI features in SharePoint

  • All MonthNames and Month numbers in sql server

    Regards,
    Mandava.

Kudos to all the posts with fancier and higher-tech approaches.  At the same time, this is a somewhat unique situation:  Unlike most things, we'll always have just 12 months, and that will never change.  This is an opportunity for "keep it
simple... Really simple", although the concept of using a VIEW for it is a little bit of lateral thinking.
I've also included two columns ("Mo" and "MMNum") that if you wanted to get technical, could be labeled "optional", and could also be computed instead of treated as literals.  At the same time, the extra fields may someday be highly convenient and allow
you to NOT compute the text-equivalent ("01" of the integer "1") someday, so why not?  Again, it's only 12 lines worth of typing, the data will never change, and sometimes, it's OK to use literals.
    Create View MONTHLIST as
Select 1 as MM , 'January' as Mon , 'Jan' as Mo , '01' as MMNum
    UNION
Select 2 as MM , 'February' as Mon , 'Feb' as Mo , '02' as MMNum
    UNION
Select 3 as MM , 'March' as Mon , 'Mar' as Mo , '03' as MMNum
    UNION
Select 4 as MM , 'April' as Mon , 'Apr' as Mo , '04' as MMNum
    UNION
Select 5 as MM , 'May' as Mon , 'May' as Mo , '05' as MMNum
    UNION
Select 6 as MM , 'June' as Mon , 'Jun' as Mo , '06' as MMNum
    UNION
Select 7 as MM , 'July' as Mon , 'Jul' as Mo , '07' as MMNum
    UNION
Select 8 as MM , 'August' as Mon , 'Aug' as Mo , '08' as MMNum
    UNION
Select 9 as MM , 'September' as Mon, 'Sep' as Mo , '09' as MMNum
    UNION
Select 10 as MM , 'October' as Mon , 'Oct' as Mo , '10' as MMNum
    UNION
Select 11 as MM , 'November' as Mon , 'Nov' as Mo , '11' as MMNum
    UNION
Select 12 as MM , 'December' as Mon , 'Dec' as Mo , '12' as MMNum
So, like everything else in SQL, there's always 50 ways to do something.  This is another one.
