Nvidia 32bit driver issue when starting steam

When ever I start steam I get this error.
OpenGL GLX context is not using direct rendering, which may cause performance problems.
For more information visit https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art … -EYZB-7457.
I decided to run it from terminal to see what was happening when it was starting and I got this.
libGL error: unable to load driver: swrast_dri.so
libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast
This lead me to looking through loads of forums and it seems to be that swrast is some kind of fallback driver, so I installing every 32bit library for my graphics card(Nvidia gtx 970) and the error still perists.
then looked at some more forums and they and the post i found said it was a path issue and that i need to add the path to a config file in this folder /etc/ld.so.conf.d the config file taked about in the post wasnt there but there was a config file which i checked and it had the correct path.
Also when i use the glxinfo command I get:
glxinfo
name of display: :0
display: :0  screen: 0
direct rendering: Yes
server glx vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
server glx version string: 1.4
But when i use the 32bit version I get:
glxinfo32
name of display: :0
libGL error: No matching fbConfigs or visuals found
libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast
display: :0  screen: 0
direct rendering: No (If you want to find out why, try setting LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose)
server glx vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
server glx version string: 1.4
Need any more information just ask.
Edit: decided to give up and reinstall.

Vista Ultimate 64-bit recognizes 8 cores. 32-bit recognizes one physical cpu.
I've had very little trouble in two years. And now I do like Windows 7 but also eager for the RC.
I've been using the latest Nvidia. There is a method to the madness of how to uninstall/delete and install graphics drivers, or madness in the method. The W7 drivers are easier.
Nope. Something else. More sensitive to disk errors. You aren't running a program to boost fans. Something.
And some AV software is more prone to causing trouble. But all you need is a good AV/malware program, and even Norton AV 2009 is acceptable, or Avast or one of the others.

  • MacBook Air/nvidia GeForce9400M/driver issue  font installation fails on xp

xp sp3 on a MacBook Air (bought 04-2009, 2x 1,86 GHz, 128 GB SSD) fails to install otf type fonts with an error message. Also Adobe Photoshop 10 (CS3) will crash upon trying to insert writing into a jpeg, tif, psd etc.
Source of problem: The nvidia graphic driver needs some more memory allocation than xp expects.
Remedy: open the registry editor (START>RUN>regedit)
    navigate to the following key:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\MemoryManagement
    add a new REG_DWORD Value
change the name of the value to
    SessionImageSize
    set its value (decimal) to
    20
    reboot
-- this problem would only seem to affect xp sp3 systems with nvidia graphics
-- be sure to backup your registry before changing it and
be sure to know what you are doing before editing the registry
Apparently this problem has been recognized by nvidia and implemented in their latest driver release. This is not suited, however, for Apple products, since they have further customized the nvidia driver (and apparently NOT included this fix!).
The fix will resolve the problems mentioned above with installing otf type fonts and inserting writing into pics in photoshop. Photoshop, however, continues to crash upon exiting, an issue not yet resolved.

    Hi and welocme to Discussions,
use the SafeBoot options of XP as described here http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B315222&x=10&y=11
Use Safe Mode (=Minimal) to startup XP with a minimal set of drivers and from there uninstall the not-working Nvidia drivers.
The reinstall the drivers that worked.
You might wanna tryout if 'Last Known Good Configuration' works.

    Hi Hindrick,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with system not booting to Windows on your ThinkPad T410.
I think the boot files have been corrupted, try reinstalling the Operating System once, this may resolve the issue. If the system is having pre-loaded OS then try to perform system recovery.

    Hope this helps.

  • TimeZone issues when starting the OEM Agent since summertime switch Germany

    Hello gurus,
since yesterday when the system time has swithched to summer time in Germany I have below errors when starting the agents on our systems:
    ****@*****: /oracle > su - ora*** -c /oracle/product/agent10g/bin/emctl start agent
Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Release 3 Grid Control 10.2.0.3.0.
Copyright (c) 1996, 2007 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
    Starting agent ....... failed.
The agentTZRegion value in /oracle/product/agent10g/sysman/config/emd.properties is not in agreement with what agent thinks it should be.Please verify your environment to make sure that TZ setting has not changed since the last start of the agent.
If you modified the timezone setting in the environment, please stop the agent and exectute 'emctl resetTZ agent' and also execute the script mgmt_target.set_agent_tzrgn(<agent_name>, <new_tz_rgn>) to get the value propagated to repository.
Consult the log files in: /oracle/product/agent10g/sysman/log
So I tryed the suggested resetTZ, but get below errors:
    root@******: /oracle/product/agent10g/sysman/log > su - oradeu -c /oracle/product/agent10g/bin/emctl resetTZ agent
Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Release 3 Grid Control 10.2.0.3.0.

    resetTZ failed.
    The agentTZRegion in:
    /oracle/product/agent10g/sysman/config/emd.properties
is not in agreement with what the agent thinks it should be.
    Fix your environment.
Pick a TZ value that corresponds to time zone settings listed in:
    /oracle/product/agent10g/sysman/admin/supportedtzs.lst
    I checked the TZ settings:
    *****> echo $TZ
    MEZ-1MSZ,M3.5.0/02:00:00,M10.5.0/03:00:00
    *****: /oracle/product/agent10g/sysman/config > more emd.properties|grep agentTZ
    agentTZRegion=+01:00
which is the reason for the difference of 120min as shown by the resetTZ I assume because AIX system time says MEZ -1 and emd.properties finds GMT+1 which gives a difference of 120min.
I already applied the patch 5632264 to the agent, but the issue still exists.
When I manipulate the envirement TZ to GMT+01:00 the agent starts again, but this is no solution. Also patching the TZ of UNIX/AIX is no solution because this will cause other issues.
Any ideas how I can get the agent working again?
ps. I already tried a reinstallation of the Agent, but the issue still exists.
    Thank you

  • Bizzare hard drive issue when downloading movie

I have a 2008 mac pro with three hard drives (a OSX disk, storage disc, and time machine backup), the other day I attempted to rent captain america from itunes, and was told that the download failed because the disc was inaccessable (or similar message). Sure enough even though the disc showed up in the desktop, and the folders would appear, they were all empty, and no music would play in itunes. When I attempted to use disk utility, verification confirmed that it required repairs, but repair crashes saying the disc cannot be unmounted. However, if I start up the computer, and do not open itunes, or open itunes and do NOT allow the movie to start downloading, all the music plays, I can access the images, ect. on the hard drive, and the disk utility says the disc is normal. The moment I allow the movie to download, it again crashes, and the disk utility again says the disc needs to be repaired but cannot do it. I am at a total loss as to what it going on or what to do?

    osmiumtet,
You must remove Norton Utilities and never run it again on OSX. It can cause various problems, does not support 10.3.x (or possibly even 10.2.x), and Symantec has dropped Norton Utilities for Mac. Go to Symantec's website and find the uninstaller for Norton Utilities...you want to get all parts.
I am not sure if there are issues with some antivirus utilities. Which one is installed and is it up-to-date?
One cause for erroneous HD capacities is a damaged HD directory. Boot to your 10.3 CD and run Disk Utility's First Aid; if errors are found, run it again. If Disk Utility cannot fix the problem, you will need a more robust utility like Alsoft's DiskWarrior, probably the best there is for repairing HD directories.
After checking the HD directory and if no problems are found, take a look at the size of all the files on the HD:

When battery ran out the display goes back to default. I

    issue.
Can you please advise? How to fix it permanently?

    elementx, welcome to the forum,
if you could post your type and model number  and which OS you have this would be a help. If your model number ends in CTO please provide some details about your T61 i.e. which graphic chip. This would help us to help you.
Which driver are you installing, maybe you could provide a link to it?
If you have a factory installation you could try installing the original driver which can be found in C:\swtools\drivers\video.
    Thanks in advance

  • Canon iPF810 - Windows 7 32bit driver issues

    Hi,
I'm having issues loading the Canon iPF810 Win7 x86 driver in the driverstore. Everytime I try to load the driver, I get an error saying "Check that the Driver Store (idsd) is loaded". Thing is, the driver store IS loaded. There's no issues with the Windows 7 64bit driver, only 32bit.
    Here's what I'm running:
Novell Open Enterprise Server 11 (x86_64)
    VERSION = 11.1
    PATCHLEVEL = 1
    novell-iprint-client-6.5.1.20130807-0.3.3

  • Windows 2008 Server and HP Color LaserJet 2605dn Driver Issue when Sharing Printer

I have a HP Color LaserJet 2605dn printer that I need to setup on a Windows 2008 server.  I need the server to act as a Print server, but I have been unable to get any drivers to load other than the 64 Bit Universal drivers.  Because most of the company uses XP (32 and 64 bit), I also need to load those drivers under additional drivers; however, I have been unable to load them, when I point to the INF file (any of the 10 that unzip from the driver package), it says it is not for this printer.  I have even tried the generic 32 bit PS and it says the same thing.  Any ideas on what I am doing incorrectly or where to get the drivers that I need?
    Thanks,
    Gary

Hello, I have the same problem. For the 2605 Printer is only the universal print driver available. Is seems that HP is to be lazy about making new 2008 driver.

  • Intel HD Driver issues when downgrading from Win8 to Win7

    Hi Guys,
I currently have a bunch of HP Pro3500MT machines which have come preinstalled with Win8 on these and after checking with HP they stated that these are compatible to be downgraded to run on Win7.
The install works fine up until the point where the Intel HD drivers are installed and this then causes the pc to BSOD with and IRQ is not equal error. (I will add the dump files shortly)
Has anyone experienced this with these machines?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi:
I have seen instances on other HP business desktop PC's where this happens when you install W7 (non SP1), and then try to install the drivers before updating W7 to SP1.
If this is what you did, the solution is to install W7, update it to SP1 before installing any drivers and that should work.
If this is not your situation, then I would try the Intel HD video driver directly from Intel.

Ok. Ammendment to other message as I haven't gotten a solution yet. My problem is
I am using Oracle 9.i on a Sun UNIX box and using Weblogic 6.1 SP2 on another box.
Trying to connect a pool between the two of them.
Obviously, there has to be a way to do this but none of the documentation seems to
tell you how. I am used to doing MS SQL drivers on NT so I am a little new to this.
I would appreciate it if someone has a solution to this problem that will help me.
The error I am getting is as follows:
    Starting Loading jDriver/Oracle .....

  • Firewire Drive hangups when starting recording

I was wondering if anybody has had any issues with their Firewire drives hanging with the beach ball spinning for as much as 20-30 seconds after record enabling a track and hitting the record transport button after upgrading to the new Studio version. (Never happened for me in 7.2)
The hard drive seems to function fine otherwise and disk utility doesn't see any issues.
It is intermittent and I can't seem to find the answer to this problem.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

Thanks for all of the help - I have been out of town and just got back to testing. I will make sure that I turn the setting in Energy Saver off so that it does not put the hard disks to sleep. I cannot access the Journaling setting for some reason on the firewire drive, and unfortunately it is formatted as FAT-32, since I was using it with a pc also.
Does the FAT-32 system make it slower? Sorry for the added question.

  • Grey screen issue when starting it up

i safe booted first and it gave a diskos2 i/o error. i shut it down and resetted the NVRAM/PRAM, after that i started it up from the OS disc and started to install the OS, it gave an installation error, i then tried to do a clean install by erasing the HD but the HD does not show up in disc utilty at all, now im unsure in what to do

Hello, I am also experiencing this problem, particularly on mail startup, but it can happen any time. Thanks Mulder, I have tried your suggested sequence, and I thought it was helping, but the problem has recurred. If by chance you think this is a different problem than awaiti describes, please let me know, I do not want to intrude on the thread.
To summarize, over the past week or so, Mail (for me) has become unstable to the point of not being usable. No software updates had been applied on my Macbook for several weeks, until today (10.5.5), but I notice no difference in behavior after applying the 10.5.5 update. Mail starts then begins dragging the system down, finally ending up with the spinning beachball wait cursor. I have Mail's activity window "on", as well as Activity Monitor, to see if anything unusual is going on. Activity Monitor, when and if it gets any operating time, shows Mail "not responding". It gets so bad that other applications begin to show "not responding" and even Force Quit (cmd-opt-esc) takes forever to respond.
    Some things to note:
    1. If I do not start Mail, the system runs fine, applications respond normally.
    2. When Mail goes in the weeds, other applications also go unresponsive, so I can only assume that Mail is consuming so much resources other cannot execute. (This include Activity Monitor... when Mail runs crazy, I cannot even see what other system processes are taking up CPU time.)
    3. If and when I actually get Mail to Force Quit, Activity Monitor shows that the "spindump" process continues taking over 10% CPU time for up to a minute after Mail terminates.
    4. I can successfully use the MobileMe webmail with no problems, so the email and folders on the server must be okay. But I prefer the Mail client.
Hope this information helps someone with insight suggest a course of action.
    Thanks!

  • Forceware (nvidia original) driver issues in FX5950 ultra

Hi guys, well, here I am again wondering if there is a bios update for my card (msi geforcefx 5950 ultra), cause since drivers 61.72 nvidia forceware, my OS is giving that old bad blue screen on windows xp sp2 startup. In fact, since driver forceware 61.72 I could only use the msi 72.12 driver, all other drivers that was released since 61.72 from nvidia site is crashing my os, and most of the msi site too
Well now the newest forceware driver 71.89, is doing that bad blue screen too.
So is there any bios upgrade for my video card, i dont use the msi update software cause i preffer to flash by floppdisk. And the msi site seems to only offer motherboard bios to flash.
Hmm I dont think it is a virus prolem, I use Kaspersky antivirus, best there is, and already formated system and installed all over again. No results.

A BIOS upgrade would have zero effect, unless you have solid information supporting it.
The problem is most likely that the newer generation drivers are aimed specifically towards the newer cards on the market. Sometimes support for older cards is compromised in the process.
I suggest staying with the drivers that work best with your card and OS.
There is also the possibility that there are remnants of old drivers still present in your system, that are causing problems as well.
Have you used Driver Cleaner for each driver you tried?
MSI does not supply BIOS updates for VGA cards other than in Live Update. But that is a big risk, since sometimes Live Update causes problems with VGA BIOS updates. You could at least see if there is a BIOs update by installing and running the Live Update Software just to see. Then the decision is yours to make. If it did make any difference, that would be a first in my experience. If you decide to do anything, make sure you back up your current BIOS as we can't get BIOS for you. You are on your own.
I think mostly it is a combination of driver and perhaps your OS health.
Unless you absolutely need the latest driver (such as a game or app that specifically calls for a version) then there is no reason to update your driver.

  • Driver Issue when deploying custom image from SCCM

    Hi,
I have a sysprepped wim file that I can deploy from a USB stick or via TS using an SCCM 2012 bootable media.
Perhaps one comment up front: I am not using SCCM to apply any drivers.
With USB deployment, everything is fine. When I deploy via SCCM, and login as an unprivileged user for the first time, I get an admin popup trying to complete the AMD graphic adapter driver installation. If I supply the credentials, or login first as an
    admin, then everything is fine.
Updating the driver removed this problem/behaviour, but it left me wondering what the difference might be.
Since I have all drivers within the wim file and have a PE instance outside the control of SCCM that actually injects the drivers before rebooting and running mini setup, I cannot figure out why there might be a difference in behaviour.
    Any ideas?

Well to be honest, I am trying to understand what is going on
In my opinion you should use ConfigMgr driver packages in your task sequence. This leads to less anomalies and "trying to understand what is going on" with your solution.
This leaves you more time to concentrate on the important stuff.
