NWDI CTS+ integration

Hello,
we have a NWDI (NW1) 7.0 SP15, three (DH2,QH2,PH2) abap systems nw7.0 with SP14 and three (DP2, QP2, PP2) java systems 7.0 with sp14. With the docu "best practices for implementing cts" we have set up CTS with close coupling between NWDI and CTS. If we create an development and transport the development through the track to prod, we can't see at which point the java development should go to the cts.
All systems dh2, dp2, qp2, qh2, pp2, ph2 have been created on the domain controller dh2.
System DP2 contains the following values.
CTS_SYSTEM_TYPE = JAVA
DEPLOY_URL = http://hostname:50218
NON_ABAP_SYSTEM = 1
NON_ABAP_WBO_CLIENT = 200
WBO_FILE_TRANSFER = STREAM
WBO_GET_REQ_STRATEGY = SMART
WBO_REL_REQ_STRATEGY = AUTO
In NWDI (NW1) we have activated "Connected to CTS" for all tracks.
CTS Upload SYSTEM = DP2
Also we have create with the viusal administrator on NWDI (NW1) the rfc
with the following values.
sap.com/com.sap.tc.di.CTSserver
System = hostname
System number = 00
System ID = DH2
Gateway-Host = hostname
Gateway-Service = sapgw00
Logon Data
Client 200
Username j2ee_adm_dp2
I can open the transport web organiser and create non-abap-transports, but I can only attached files from the filesystem level. I can't find files from the NWDI.

Alexander

Hello Karin,
thanks for the answer. I found the problem yesterday. Maybe you can also help me with my next problem?
I get now a transport with non abap-objects in tsm. but when I try to import this object over tms i get the following error message.

  • CTS+ integration with NWDI in NW 7.01

    Hi, all.
I read in the release note that in NW 7.01, you can package NWDI activity and transport it using CTS+. For most of the afternoon, I was searching in vain for the procedure on help.sap.com, SDN and service.sap.com. The doc on help.sap.com in particular is a joke. The EHP2 doc is still referencing the same 7.0 CTS/NWDI integration procedure. The closest thing I found is a document called "Enhanced change and Transport System" by Karin Sudrow.
I would really appreciate if you are aware of any useful doc for the NWDI/CTS+ integration.
    Thanks,
    Jonathan.

Actually I just found an excellent procedure "News in Enhancement Package 1 for SAP
NetWeaver 7.0 around CTS+ and NWDI" by Marion Schlotte if you are interested.
    Thanks,
    Jonathan.

  • ChaRM and CTS+ integration

    Hello Experts,
Is it possible to integrate ChaRM with CTS+ ? i.e. Java transports can also be controled from ChaRM same as ABAP. Can anyone list steps needed to perform to achieve this. a Step-by-step guide will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Swapnil

    Hi Swapnil,
According to SAP this is possible.  Please have a look at the document in service.sap.com -> Media Library -> Technical Papers -> "How to Set up and Use eCTS/ChaRM Solution Manager 7.0 SP12"
Would be interested to hear how you get on.

  • CTS+ Configuration - Separate ABAP & Java Instance

    Hello,
I have a pure ABAP ECC instance. I have a pure Java Internet Sales instance. I have NWDI.
I would like to centrally manage the Java transports from my ABAP system using CTS+. Is this scenario possible.
    Integration of NWDI & CTS+.

Yes. the scenerio is very much possible.
Please refer to 3.1.3 for different ABAP and JAVA stacks in the following document http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/10456aac-44f7-2a10-1fbe-8b7bcd7bcd58?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true
And then you need to integrate NWDI with CTS+,

  • Can anyone summirize what is the close coupling in CTS+?

    I read a lot about CTS+.
I think if the the Transport Organizer Web UI is a standalone system, it is a loose
coupling scenario.  Otherwise, it would be a close coupling scenario.
Can some body help compare them?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hello,
Loose Coupling and Close Coupling (or tight integration) describe the relation between the TMS system and the application on the export side.
Close coupling means that you can find mechanisms within an application (e.g. SAP NetWeaver Portal or SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure to attach a transportable object (e.g. epa, sda,...) to a transport request on the CTS system.
Loose coupling means that the application does not provide a direct integration mechanism. You would start an export within the application, download the export result and attach it manually to a transport request via the Transport organizer Web UI by uploading it again.
In most cases, the import is done automatically. This means that when importing a queue TMS calls the deployment tool of an application and hands over the files. The import is done automatically; no administrator's interaction is required. In some cases, the exported file is delivered to a designated destination and the import itself needs to be done manually. This is the case for a KM Documents' import by today. SAP Master Data Management plans to offer a CTS+ integration with MDM 7.1 as well - this integration also requires a manual import.

  • Merging Java Transport request with Abap Transport Request in Charm

    Hello All,
We have activated the Change request Management in Solution Manager. Therefore transport request of type workbench and customising can be created when you choose action 'Create Transport Request'.
However we have some SAP systems that have CTS+ integrated which allows to generate transport request number and attach objects in PI Integration Directory  - java transports.
Question is - Is there a way we can integrate the java transports generated in these SAP systems  with Solution Manager  CHarm and transport creation.
Or can we assign the java transports to charm in any way.
We are basically looking for how  when users create Charm, the abap and java transports relating to the charm are generated and created only from  Solution Manager manager or how these two transports can be linked together in Solution Manager.
Thanking you in advance for your help.
    Tolly

    Hello Friends
I have read the links and followed the instructions and tried to create object
TABLENAME   R3TR  TABU and tried to save it.
I keep getting a warning message
Note: ZTABLE1 is an application table
Object TABU ZTABLE1 has object function "k", but no key.
(I don't know what key to enter. I tried the Key field name, but it said 'Enter Numeric values only').
If I ignore and save and try to create transport request and then import it on a different server, again only table structure is getting transported and not the contents/data of the table.
I would appreciate if some one can please let me konw what I am doing wrong.

  • Name server not updated in development configuration after change of SLD

    Hi Guys
Hope you can help me with this one.
We have moved our SLD from one server to another.
After this we changed the name server in NWDI and in NWDS.
In NWDS i removed the development configuration and reimported it, but when I do this, a popup box shows the details of the development configuration and the name server is still the old SLD server. This means that when I start the NWDS I get an error saying that the name server host is unreachable.
    Where do I change this?
I found out that the name server is setup in the .confdef file under .dtc\0 in the field called name-server-url. If I change this manually in the file, it works. But if I remove the development configuration and reimport it again, I am taken back to the old name server again.
It seems as if something has to be changed in NWDI, but I can't figure out what.
    Can anybody help?
    Cheers,
    Jacob Vennervald

    Hi Jacob,
    I would proceed as follows:<br><br>
    -  login to your new SLD<br>
    -  go to the technical systems in the landscape area of the SLD<br>
    -  in the filter drop down select AS JAVA<br>
    - check if your NWDI has reported to this SLD in the last 12 or 24 hours, you can check this on the "last update" column<br>
    - if your system has reported to this sld the last few hours this is good if not go to the step "change J2ee to new sld" i will descirbe later.<br>
    - remember the name of the system here. it is like sid on dbhostname.<br>
    -  got to sld administration (link on top) choose content maintenace in administration<br>
    - in the subset filter select "All with instances" as class set SAP AS JAVA Cluster<br>
    - you should find your system there. click on it.<br>
    - in the new screen find a link in the middle top <nr> associated instances -> click it<br>
    - in the next screen you will see the relationship of the technical system to the rest of the sld data.<br>
    - there should be a topic called "hosted application server"<br>
    - the should be an entry like: system landscape directory: sld on sid on server -> click it<br>
    - here you will see the data for this hosted system. You can find the cim/url definig the SLD you will find the roles. Landscape and name server should assigend and so on here you can chage the SLD url. <br><br>
You can although proceed as follows. This as well requieres you nwdi to report and use this sld in j2ee see below if not.<br>
    - on sld startscreen choose landscapes in the landscapes part of sld<br>
    - select landscape type nwdi systems<br>
    - if there is no landscape you can create one<br>
    - in the landscape ypu can assinge systems. The sld should be availabel to choose.<br>
    - once in the landscape you can view the system and you can change the CIM Server url and the roles there aswell its just another view on the content.<br>
    <br>
    you can although check:<br>
    - open name reservation from develpoment part of start screen<br>
    - here you should find a button about enabling or disabling the sld for nwdi usege. this should be of course enabled...<br>
    <br>
<b>"change J2ee to new sld" <br>Ok and here what to do or to check if you are not sure if your NWDI uses/reports to the new sld.</b><br>
    - Go to the nwdi server an open Visual admin i asume you are running a 7.0 Di if not let me knoe i can although tell you for CE.<br>
    - ok in VA. select on of your server nodes->services->SLD data supplier.<br>
    - an overview page will show up.<br>
    - select the http settings tab in the lower middle.<br>
    - https settings will tell the j2ee where to report to. Verify the data and change if needed. use the lightinigbolt button on top to transfer data to the sld. have a little patiance if your data is not shown immediately in your sld,. it may take 1-2 minutes until it is shown in the gui.<br>
    - switch to cim client generation tab. those paraemters will tell your j2ee from what sld to read data from. It is important to understand that you may report to one sld but to read from antioher. depending on your sld landscape. The CIm CLient should use the same Sld as your NWDI uses in CMS setting.<br>
    - if all is setup. do a cim client test.<br>
    <br><br>
Allright. This is all I know on how the NWDI is integrated in SLD. Hope you can resolve your problem wiht this steps.
    <br>
    Have a good time<br>

  • How to manage non-SAP objects types with SAP Netweaver ?

I would like to know how it is possible to integrate into the SAP software configuration managment tools (NWDI CTS, CTS+...) non-SAP objects like shell scripts or SQL requests ?
These shell scripts are, for example:
    - external host scheduler jobs
    - general scripts for start/stop application
    - parameters needed by application at the os level
My goal should to store into a DEV SAP system these objects, in order to take benefit of SE80 version management. So, it should be possible to create transport order in SE10 and to transport these non-SAP objects in test and production system.
Thank in advance for your answers.
    Daniel Ouin

the standard functionality for this up until 4.72 is to call RFCs/BAPIs through a RFC binding library for the third party software, e.g. the language of your choice is PHP then you use the PHP RFC library found [here|http://saprfc.sourceforge.net/], if you have to connect from a .NET environment you might try to get the SAP .NET connector.

PS: RTFM and/or using the search facilities here on SCN would help you a lot with your task.

  • CTS+ configuration for NWDI - Development configuration error

    Hi All,
I really need some help on this. we are configuring CTS+ on Solution Manager system for NWDI, EP landscape (EPD, EPQ,EPP) and SLD system.
we made EPD as development system and trying to use CM Services to configure the NWDI scenario SDA/SDC Deployment.
I have created all NON-ABAP systems and created the CTSDEPLOY Http connections. I am getting the popup to configure the Development Configuration,"What is the User I have to use here and  of which system?" and what are the authorizations required to configure this.
As soon as the popup comes, It is asking for the user ID and Password. I am entering Solution Manager (Admin user with all CMS actions also assigned) user then it is giving the following error on the screen. " Could not connect to SLD; contact your System Administrator: User SAPNWDI is not allowed to do this function "
I have give the SLD url correctly, and the admin user for SLD and Password. I have cross checked the user for password, every thing is fine.
    I really appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    Ramu J.

    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/90d3b550-b6fb-2910-0fa5-ece5d61fb9c3
    Hi Ramu,
    Pls answer me for below.
    specified SLQ as my SLD
    1.
You said SLQ is you SLD, but You configuring CTS on solution manager. but solution manager has its own SLD.
    a. SMG solution manager SLD
    b. SLQ is also SLD
If there is two sld then you should get error
" Could not connect to SLD; contact your System Administrator: User SAPNWDI is not allowed to do this function "
This is becuase you are giving the user which is present in SLQ SLD but CTS is checking the Solution manager SLD.
For CTS you should have centralied SLD.
    2.
Can you tell me one more thing, in CTSDEPLOY do I need to give the SMG host and port number or EPD's host and Port number?
You have to specify the host and port in CTSDEPLOY of the system on which CTS contoller should work i.e EPD or SMG.
To resolve your all this problem first of all make the SLD as central . i.e Make solution manager ( CLQ ) as SLD or SLD system in you landscape ( SLQ ) as SLD.
don't keep two different SLD . If you keep Solman as its own SLD then CTS will search component from SMG SLD
    Pls follow the guide
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/90d3b550-b6fb-2910-0fa5-ece5d61fb9c3
    3.
Could not connect to SLD; contact your System Administrator: User SAPNWDI is not allowed to do this function
Can you tell us in which system this SAPNWDI user is present
Check the SLD of of system in which SAPNWDI user  i present
system is whether in SMG SLD or SLQ SLD
If you are not clear with my above suggestion pls let me know.
    Thanks

  • CTS transport in Integration Directory

    Hello,
We are running NW70 SP13 and have fully configured CTS+ as per the SAP documentation for SP13 specifically.
In Integration Repository we can see the export option using CTS but in the Integration Directory for scenarios we do not see the "Transport with CTS mode" option...it is defaulted to File Transport and the field is not changeable.
    Any ideas?

In the exchange profile make the following entry
    com.sap.aii.ib.client.properties: com.sap.aii.ibrep.core.cms.,com.sap.aii.ibdir.core.cms.
    for Integration Repository com.sap.aii.ibrep.core.cms.*
    for Integration Directory com.sap.aii.ibdir.core.cms.*
    Note:
Do not replace existing values; add the new value to the existing values.
    Note:
These settings specify that the CMS transport entries are transferred from the server to the web client front end.
    Refresh the Exchange profile parameter.

  • CTS and Data Integrator

I want to be able to use CTS, perhaps in conjunction with ChaRM on Solution Manager or CTS+, for version/change control of Data Integrator objects that are using Rapid Marts as targers (as opposed to SAP BI targets). Has SAP enabled this capability yet, and if so, can someone point me in the direction of documentation on this? If not, does anyone have any inside scoop on when it might become available?

I'm trying to remove the manual movement of code from the development repository to the QA repository and then another manual intervention to move from the QA repository to the production repository. Furthermore, I want to be able to use tools that we already have on hand and not have to introduce another application (tool) to perform this. Since we're primarily an SAP shop, and therefore have Solution Manager and other applications including SAP BW (really dislike that it was changed back to SAP BW from SAP BI recently), and since SAP now owns Business Objects, I was hopeful that DI has already been integrated with the SAP CTS framework. Is this something that's part of the 2010 changes where SAP BW and Business Objects are morphed more into an integrated set of tools?

    Hi,
Iam trying to integrate NWDI with existing MII. Iam using MII 12.1.8 version.
    I have downloaded MII_BUILDT.sca SP08, and XMII.sca SP08 patches from servive marketplace.
Where can I get the SAP_BUILDT.sca file. Also for integration where should all these 3 sca files to be placed(i mean which path).
    Please advice.
    Thanks,
    Padma

    Hi Manoj,
Thanks for the path to find the sca file.
But now I am confused which SP version of this file has to be downloaded whether I need to take MII SP version or NW SP version?
According to MII project building and deploying it says this path \usr\sap\trans\EPS\in\CMS<server><sid>\CMS\inbox  for deploying these files is this is correct?
Also one more thing while configuring Integration of MII with Existing NWDI in MII nwa I closed the browser directly , now I see  start , resume , re-execute all three buttons are disabled. how can I start or re-execute .
    Any help would be appriciated

  • More than one CTS for one NWDI

    Hi,
Is it possible to use more than one CTS in one single NWDI?
The Help-Guide says to call the connection "sap.com/com.sap.tc.di.CTSserver" so it seems unlikely to have more than one. But SAP always says to use just one Solution Manager, just one NWDI... So I think there has to be a way.
    I hope someone can help.
    Thank you.
    Christopher Tuck

    Hi Chris,
The parameter "sap.com/com.sap.tc.di.CTSserver" is the bottleneck here...
Because you can only define this parameter once it can only point to one CTS server.
This cannot be overruled and I even think the coding from SAP that initiates the connection is hardcoded too point to sap.com/com.sap.tc.di.CTSserver (thats an assumption I didn't investigate it).
If you would find a way ton get it working, I think it wont be supported.
    Cheers,
    Benjamin

  • Is NWDI going away with the Intro of Central CTS?

With the introduction of the attached:
    Software Logistics
...does this mean NWDI is going away?

After going through the article, here are a few thoughts:
Central CTS would only change the Transport Mechanism of your landscape.
I believe NWDI will still be required for your central source code management and central build mechanisms. I do not see any other way of doing this either using eCTS or cCTS.
In an implementation I have worked on recently, we had eCTS and NWDI being used. eCTS was able to help us do the non-ABAP transports from an ABAP system. We still used NWDI for Source code management and central build and assembly.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
    Thanks,

  • CTS+ is integrated in Charm, but can't seem to use it....

We have CTS+ working for our Portal system.  We were able to define an Implementation Project in ChaRM and define the Portal DEV, QAS and Prod systems with no problems.  We created the task list and the Portal systems show up.  But now when we create a transport in the Portal, the project doesn't show up as one of the projects to select (and if fact, the only ones in table CTSPROJECT which is where the drop down in the Portal is gathering projects are old ones created a long time ago - nothing recent).
So when we try to create a transport in the Project Task List, we get an error at the bottom of the screen:
"Internal error calling an interface in teh Change Manager."
Double clicking on the error provides more information:
Internal error calling an interface in the Change Manager
    Message no. /TMWFLOW/CONFIG600
    Diagnosis
The Change and Transport System function module n /TMWFLOW/GET_RFC_DEST was called with incorrect parameters.
    Parameters
    "IV_SYSNAME"
    "IV_SERVICE_DESK"
    System Response
    The function is not performed.
However, when I execute /TMWFLOW/GET_RFC_DEST manually entering in EPD as the "IV_SYSNAME" I correctly get the EV_DESTINATION as SM_SMACLNT001_TRUSTED (our solution manager RFC).
I checked the RFC and performed an authorization check, and the results were successful.
I have checked all documentation provided by other threads in this forum, but they stop short of actually creating and performing the transports using ChaRM.
    THanks,
    Christine

Yes, and we have everything configured per the guide (we actually use CTS+ now but wanted to take it a step further and integrate it into ChaRM).
The problem seems to be the projects in the Portal CTS+ Browser are old ones (we have 5 new implementation/maintenance projects defined that don't show up) and we don't know how to get the new ones into table CTSPROJECT so they can show up in the CTS+ Browser.  So when we create a new transport in the Portal CTS+ Browser, we can not assign it to the project we want.
So we tried to approach the other way - create a transport in ChaRM and select it in CTS+ Browser.  But we can't create a transport in ChaRM due to other reason.
Neither works, so we're not sure which is right approach (or maybe both) and which one we focus on to fix.
