How to provision Microsoft office communicator 2007 using OIM?
Not sure if AD or Echange connector have this capability. Is there any script?

Office Communicator 2007 "There was a problem verifying the certificate from the server" issue

Hello,
Last Friday is when this error first started. This is effecting all users. I am new to this position and am unfamiliar with how the Communicator server is setup. I am unsure as to where to look and where to start. We are using Office Communicator 2007 R2
running on a VM with Server 2003 R2. This is the only application being used on this host. Any ideas on where to start looking?

Hi Jenebo,
Looks like you did not install the CA install your client PC.
Access you enterprise CA server, like
http://dc.server.com/certsrv, download the certificate chain and intall it.
If it still can not work, please check you use automatic configuration to login your ocs client and you can resolve the SRV record to correct srv hostname using Nslookup.
If you use manual configuration, please do not use IP address of of FE.

I issued a certificate off of the server running OC 2007; I do not have a dedicated CA server. How would I pull the crtificate off of that server and install it on my clients (server name is SFBlackberry)?
By the way, half of the clients worked after I renewed the CA on the server and the other half are the ones I am having problems with.

I was using Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2 Trial and it has been expired now. what is the procedure to get it renewed or extended to continue using it. I have installed office 2013 licensed but its lync is not supporting with server version. I have
no option otherthan to continue Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2. Please suggest on this situation.

OCS 2007 R2 Patching problem - Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2 Hotfix KB 2755391

Hi,
Unable to patch Hotfix KB 2755391 in Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2.
The following error occurred when started the installation of communicator.msp package file
"Windows Installer: The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. verify that the program to be upgraded
exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch"
Any one have idea? how to install this package successfully?

Which version did you OCS 2007 R2 install?
Which language the Hotfix KB did you want to update? Did it the same with the language before? If the language different from before, please download the correct language Hotfix KB and then test again.
Please also update Windows Installer to the latest version.

Office Communicator 2007 R2 Mobile Client for Java

I have installed the Office Communicator 2007 on my E72. When I try to login, the clients logs in and then immediately returns to the login screen. You can see the post login screen for a moment before it comes back to the login screen. It was same on E71 that I owned earlier. Backend is OCS 2007 and CWA is enabled. I have the correct login credentials and settings.
Will appreciate any comments / suggestions on how to make it work.

Are the chats saved on local machine (at client end) or are they saved on the server?
If one of the two participants in the chat conversation has quit the organization, what is the way to retrieve it? Essentially, whose name comes in the 'From' section in the saved conversation - is the person initiating the conversation or is there some
other criteria?
Will the name format in the saved log in 'From' differ from the format used in the chat conversation? Essentially, will the capitalisation or the layout (i.e. ''SURNAME1, FIRSTNAME1" instead of "surname1, firstname1")
of the names change highlighted below? For example:

Outlook 2010 32bit and Office Communicator 2007 R2 integration

Have a machine running XP SP3, Office 2010 32bit and Communicator 2007 R2. The problem is communicator will not integrate with outlook it states that the mail profile is not configured correctly and to seek assistance. I have a windows 7 machine running
the same versions of software and it works fine. The mailbox for the user is on exchange 2010 and online archiving is not enabled.
I have searched for the answer to this problem but have yet to find one can anyone help?

Is the users default email address for Exchange the same as the users SIP address? I am pretty sure this can cause issues.

Call Button Greyed Out After A Third Participant Is Added to The Conversation in Office Communicator 2007 R2

Hi there,
I have a problem with the office communicator. I'm able to make a call to one party without any problems. The issue occurs when I add two or more parties into the conversation. The call button will be greyed out and Im unable to make a call.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the OCS but the problem still persists.
Appreciate if anybody could help.

You can check that by initialing a audio meeting.Then check if the call button grays out.<o:p></o:p>

Office Communicator 2007 R2 IM not visible when in Chating with Group (Communicator Group)

Hi,
We are facing a issue when user IM is not visible when he chats with the group which he created in his Office Communicator Client.
Whereas he can send IMs to individual who is a member of that group in the same time.<o:p></o:p>

A failure exit code of 257 was returned - Offfice Communicator 2007 deployment

Hi
I'm trying to deploy Office Communicator 2007 with the MSI-File, the patch with the msp-file and the mui also an msi file.
I do this with a task sequence.
I tested the deployment a couple of times and it worked all the time.
Now I deployed the package to our clients this are xp sp3 and vista sp1 clients.
The deployment worked for about 2 hours. The notebook who where online at this time they received the package.
So I was able to update approximately the half of all clients.
But now every notebook who receive the deployment will get the same error massage:
1. The program for advertisement has not yet startet -> that is normal
2. Advertisement was received -> that is normal
3. Progarm started for advertisement (Command line: "C:\Windows\system32\CCM\TSLauncher.exe") -> also normal
4. The program for advertisement "XXX" failed ("BMA0014D" -"*") -> Then the advertisement has finished and no software is installed.
Here the error message:
The program for advertisement "BMA202BD" failed ("BMA0014D" - "*"). A failure exit code of 257 was returned. User context: AUTORITE NT\SYSTEM Possible cause: Systems Management Server (SMS) determines status for each program it executes. If SMS cannot find or correlate any installation status Management Information Format (MIF) files for the program, it uses the program's exit code to determine status. An exit code of 257 is considered a failure. Solution: For more information on the exit code, refer to the documentation for the program you are distributing.
BMA0014D is the ID of the Task sequence.
So I was searching on the internet but I didn't found anything about the "exit code of 257"
Why does it worked for 2 hours and now I receive the error message?
I tried to update the software packages on the distribution point. But I still get the same error.
Then i tried to create the advertisement new. But it still doesn't work.
The advertisement run time is set to "as soon as possible". The expire time isn't set.
Where is the problem?
I have no idea.

Now I tested normal advertisements and TS advertisements.
Both don't work and they get both the same error message, like this above.

I have this content on all clients which do not get the advertisement.
What do you mean, what does your TS look like?
I have an Run Script command and 3 software packages to install.
On the client there will be a message that the installation in 5 minutes will beginn.
After those 5minutes the message disappear and that's all. Then I get the error message on the sccm server.
Where can I set or check the Network Access Account?

Communicator 2007 R2

Communicator 2007 R2 will not allow us to 'Save As E-Mail' for converstations that are left open from the previous day. The auto save feature will automatically save the conversation after about 10 minutes. But the users are unable to manually
select File > 'Save As E-Mail' on the following day and generate an e-mail that is saved to the 'Conversation History' folder. After clicking on File > 'Save As E-Mail' nothing happens. We are using Office 2010 SP2.

Did this issue happen with other users?
Do you have the same problem with Office 2007?
Update Office Communicator 2007 R2 to the latest version.

I notice the following sentence in the link below “Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Group Chat will not function in a Windows Server 2008 R2 forest or when Group Chat member servers are joined to a Windows Server 2008 R2 domain.
We know of an issue with changes in Windows 2008 R2 that requires a Group Chat Client and Group Chat Admin Tools hotfix. The Group Chat Client and Group Chat Admin Tools hotfixes are currently scheduled for mid-April 2010.”

So in my opinion, if you update to the latest version of Windows Server 2008 R2, OCS Server 2007 R2 and Group Chat Client, Group Chat Admin Tools to the latest version, it should work.
However, the best method for you is make a lab to test the problem firstly.

Chats can be saved in the conversation history folder of the Exchange inbox. They can also be archived to a separate SQL server if this was configured in OCS. Whether they're kept "locally" or not depends on if cached mode was enabled
for Outlook or if they exported to PSTs.

If we're talking about conversation history in Outlook, it might say "Conversation with [other person]".
It's not so much from anyone, as it contains participants. If it's in SQL, because you enabled archiving and it hasn't been purged, then they will be individual messages to each other, so you'll search both from and to. You may be able to retrieve
it from Exchange, if the mailbox exists and they haven't deleted it, or from backups.
