OpenSSO version 9.5.2 installation from response file
Hello, all
I've been trying to install openSSO v _9.5.2_RC1 using a response file with openDS(ldap) backend and have
a problem for which I can't seem to find a real answer, so any tip would be helpful. I'm running CentOS
release 6.3 in a virtualbox with 1,5 GB of RAM. I was able to install openDS and start it but I'm not sure
if its configured correctly. I'm attaching a script that I used for auto installation. (openDS-
autoinstall.txt)
If I ask lsof here is what I get:
$ lsof -i -n -P | grep 4444
java 6658 ldap 75u IPv6 37916 0t0 TCP *:4444 (LISTEN) -- which is ok, right :)If I ask ps about openDS here is what I get:

Neither OpenSSO nor CentOS are Oracle products and although you're using VirtualBox somewhere within your kit, your question has no place in these OTN forums.
Oracle may have briefly acquired OpenSSO when they purchased Sun Microsystems but has since thrown it out to the open development community. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenSSO
Additionally, you cross-posted your inquiry to at least one other forum site and failed to mention that fact:
http://streamshare.streamserve.com/Forum/Topic/?topicID=4955
That is poor forum etiquette.
So, to avoid people duplicating efforts to assist by saying the same thing that you might have already been told elsewhere, this thread is locked.

Automating Oracle Server Installation using response file
I am automating Oracle Server Installation using response file. No Installer page should be displayed, except 'Optional Config Tools' page at the end of the installation showing the list of optional configuration tools e.g Net Configuration Assistant, Database Configuration Assistant, and Intelligent Agent Configuration Assistant. All other pages would not be displayed.
My response file doesn't seem to work this way. During installation, it displays the 'Create Database' page asking whether you want Database Configuration Assistant to be automatically launched at the end of the installation for database creation. How do I prevent this page from displaying, while selecting default option (Yes) using response file?Provide info about the OS you are using and Oracle version.

Minimal installation with response file
I am trying to achieve a minimal installtion of Oracle Enterprise Edition 9.2 for the Oracle Internet Directory. I am using the sample OID.rsp file as a guideline and this works, except the Universal Installer installs more than we need even using the OID.rsp file. Does anyone know how to use the Universal Installer response file to exclude components not reuired?

Create installer from exe file not a vi or llb
In LV 5.X one could create a distribution kit from a exe file. Can this be done in LV 6.1? I want to create my exe file, then do some alteration too it and then create an installer for the modified exe.
Open the VI project\install.llb\Install Build Installer.vi. This VI is automatically called by the builder to create installation files.
You can put this VI on "Pause" to allow you to modify the executable before the installer bundles the files for installation and resume execution thereafter.
You can also simply let its FP open, let it run as usual and rerun it with the same FP controls values after your modifications are done.

Oracle 9i database installation from download files
i downloaded oracle9i database from the otn web site. i am running windows 2k pro with service pack 2. there are three files. the instructions on the otn web site say to extract each file into it's own directory and then run setup.exe.
when i try to run setup.exe, i get an error that says the installer cannot find the java run time environment.
i have installed the newest version of java, but still get the same error.
do i need to have these directories in a certain directory?
someone please enlighten me. where am i going wrong?
thanks in advance for your assistance.if you want to have iSQL*Plus available you have to have
the Apache Web server started and you can access so:
http://localhost:port/isqlplus
to check what is the port that Apache is using you
can find that information in:
<ORACLE_HOME>/apache/apache/conf/httpd.conf
When you installed the software, if IIS was shutdown
Apache surely took the port 80 and perhaps for that is
the cause so that one of them is started the another one
has to be shutdown.

It then opened another folder called X11-0.46.4 and when I go into that I am lost as to where to find the right folder to open. And if I need an application if there is no default application to install, what do I use?

I would suggest buying either the original replacement OS discs or a set of Tiger OS X discs so that you have an alternative booting system besides the internal disc in the event that your primary file system gets corrupted and unbootable and needs to be repaired via Disc Utility, which is on the OS disc.
Alternately, get a large enough external hard drive and make a bootable copy of the entire internal hard drive, then you can boot from the external should anything go wrong with the primary internal drive. Booting from the external drive would allow you to perform repairs on the internal drive.
Depends on how important your computer and data is, hard drives don't last forever and will fail at some point, and probably not at the most convenient time. An external hard drive now is cheaper than data recovery services will be later.

That's great, I think more folks should start using "GIMP" as a verb for performing digital image manipulation, instead of that other common Photo-software. Good luck with the project. -

Oracle 10g password in response file
Hi guys,
I am trying to install oracle 10.2.0.1 on solaris using response file. The "funny" thing is that when setting passwords to something like 0RAcle1 (first char is "zero"). it throws an error:
>
INFO: Setting variable 's_superAdminSamePasswdAgain' to '*Protected value, not to be logged*'. Received the value from response file.
INFO: OUI-10155:Error while setting variable s_superAdminSamePasswdAgain: The password must start with a character for user
INFO: Setting variable 's_superAdminSamePasswdAgain' to '*Protected value, not to be logged*'. Received the value from the variable calculation.
User Selected: S&top installation of this component only.
>
I've tried with password within "" or wiothout - same result.
If I set the same passowrds to a simple word, like "password" installation works fine.
Are there any limitations on settings the password?
Thank you,
kidoYes - it is in the install doc :-P http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15690/inst_task.htm#sthref771

Can't login to repository DB after installing EM using response file
Anyone can help me?
I installed EM 10g grid control 10.1.0.3 on solaris 9, it was a silent installation with response file, with new db. I specified the passwords for sysman, sys, system and dbsnmp in the response file, the installation went smoothly, but after that, when I tried to login to the repository database using the passwords which I set in the response file, it told me that my password was wrong! but the account status are all 'OPEN'. So I have to change the passwords mannually again. Is it OK to specify password in the response file?
Anyone can help me?
The following were the account status after EM 10g installation

the passwords are all "password" or "sysman", no funny chars.
the following are the required items in the response file

I installed again with this response file, everything going up ok, the only problem is that I can not login to the respository database with the password i set in my response file. that means I HAVE TO change them at the db site.
