+ operator used with Between

Question

hi guru's
Could any one please enlighten me about this
i know that + is used for outer joins
can we use + operator with Between Operator and if so how it works
i have seen somewhere like this
and sysdate between tmo.start_date (+) and nvl(tmo.end_date (+),sysdate;
kindly clarify me

can i presume , that the line which i pasted in my previous posting, is logically wrong ?No, it's not necessarily wrong.
The example I gave was just showing the syntax working... but the data is such that you won't get the employees for those departments because there are no employees with a hiredate that matches sysdate.
If we actually gave it a different range to search, we'd get some data...

  1  select d.deptno, d.dname, e.empno, e.hiredate
