Optimizing for a Single Developer

I'm a code-based developer and a long-time holdout who just
recently switched from ColdFusion Studio. For the most part,
Dreamweaver is okay, but I've run into some serious performance
issues. So I have a few questions for you, and an open invitation
for suggestions on increasing performance:
1) DW tends to hang quite a lot when opening files or saving
them. What can I do to stop that? Is it in anyway related to Design
mode?
2) How can I turn off Design mode completely? I don't want
it, I don't use it, and it keeps messing with my files.
3) When I try to resize the coding window using the arrow, I
sometimes accidently switch into Split mode. How can I get this to
stop? (this is yet another reason why I want design mode
permanently off)
4) Where are these folders coming from? Every so often I find
"mmSomething" folders in my webroot and I don't know where they're
coming from other than DW is creating them.
5) Every so often my customized keyboard shortcuts stop
working. What the hell?
I have the latest updaters installed, so my performance
issues aren't a result of not being up-to-date. Anyway, any and all
suggestions you might have are quite welcome.

No, its definitely Dreamweaver. It has nothing to do with the
file size. It will just seize up and not do anything for several
seconds (usually between 8-20). And this happens when I open a
file, when I save a file, when I scroll, when I try to use the Find
dialogue, etc. It doesn't happen all the time, but randomly. And
occasionally it will happen for every operation I perform in a
consecutive string.

I'm using Dreamweaver 8.0.2
I went ahead and saved my workspace, although I can't imagine
what that would have to do with it. I'll let you know if that makes
any difference.

Actually, the print parallel is exactly the way I'm approaching DPS. If I'm printing 150 line screen and an image is 150dpi (or anything less than 300dpi), that's an issue that needs to be fixed. I'm not going to just run it and hope the client doesn't notice. The image is either the correct resolution, or below the correct resolution.
In the case of DPS, I am unable to use the correct resolution for both iPad 1/2 and iPad 3 if I want to distribute a single-edition app. What I want is to be able to target devices and ensure the correct resolution folio is rendered on each device. Renditions is exactly the right feature to accomplish this, but it being limited to multi-issue apps is what's tripping me up. I understand the way the feature is implemented now will not allow for it to exist in single-issue apps. My hope is Adobe changes the way it works and considers renditions an essential feature, regardless of the type of app. In other words, renditions as it is now feels like leveraging Adobe's already-existing services to accomplish a great feature, but perhaps a fresh look at the feature is what's needed to move it beyond its current limitations.
As for file size, I did not say I'm not concerned about it. Rather, I said I'm less concerned about it than quality. For our business, quality is top priority. Our clients and customers have a discerning eye. The image comparison I posted above should illustrate the vast quality difference and the folly in assuming 1024 folios look "nearly identical" or "good enough" on the new iPad.
And yes, I realize we can do "the whole thing" with HTML. We create our own webapps, do all of our own hosting and have staff that develops in Rails, Javascript, HTML, etc. Our production staff, however, knows nothing but InDesign. My hope with DPS was to ensure our production staff could create publications for print and use DPS for tablet publishing. But, the more I learn about DPS, the more attractive building our own apps leveraging HTML sounds.
I'm posting my feedback here thinking Adobe might like to know that a small publishing company like ours is evaluating DPS and coming to the conclusion we may be better off moving away from Adobe's tools altogether, including InDesign, and working in HTML.

How to set Compatibility Mode for a single site in ie10

I am having problem with getting ie10 to set ie9 compatibility for a single site (sharepoint.contoso.com).
When I add this website in Compatibility View Settings (Alt > Tools > Compatibility View Settings > 'Add this Website') it adds the domain 'contoso.com' and not the individual website (sharepoint.contoso.com).
This cause other sites (www.contoso.com) to be configured to use compatibility mode. Because this is a separate site (different web server) to the site sharepoint.contoso.com (sharepoint 2010 server) we need different compatibility settings.
Using a different example to explain the issue -
Microsoft has three websites that are different websites created by different developers written in different programming languages and they only work with certain browsers.
microsoft.com (Website1 created by Developer1) - compatible with ie8/ie9/ie10
msdn.microsoft.com (Website2 created by Developer2) - compatible with ie8/ie9
technet.microsoft.com (Website3 website created by Developer3) - compatible only with ie10
The only thing the three website share is the URL contains 'microsoft.com'.
Marking 'msdn.microsoft.com' to run in compatibility mode affects the other 2 websites - mainly technet.microsoft.com which will not work now since it only runs in pure ie10 mode.
Should you be able to add an individual site to the compatibility list instead of all sites that have .microsoft.com in the URL? Am I missing a simple setting in the ie10?
As a workaround I am using the F12 Developer Tools to set the Browser Mode which temporary sets the compatibility mode. However this is not a nice solution to the end users at our organisation.

Oh! I wrote it wrong: I should have said: This is not solved for NON-AD environments. No demands what so ever to use Window 7/8 professional in a small corporation or on a big corporation with Island of smaller departments for example offshore.
The problem is that the thread is not "Answered" by the OP, its is marked answered by a moderator (and same moderator that did the answer) so no way of telling if the OP is satisfied.
But you are right in the fact that I am almost kidnapping the thread. But a complete answer would benefit all in this case I would presume.

How to use execute query For a single record

Hi All,
I am working with oracle forms 10g, I have developed a custom form.
I the form user enter some data and click save in the menu and data get inserted into my table. Inside the insert statement i have hardcoded some values, Once data get inserted i cant able to see that values immediately in my text fields in my form.After requerying i can able to see the changes.
For example I have a text field called Status, and the field is display only field. At that time of insert i have hardcoded as "INCOMPLETE". Once the user enter the data in the form and click save the data get inserted in to my table but i cant able to see the status, after i requery my form i can able to see the status.
Here i do multi insert also.

Where "application->mt_commands" is table of strings?
Would it be some how possible?

How do I un-block popups just for a single site?

So in every other browser I use (I use all the big ones for testing -- Chrome, I.E., Firefox -- because I do web-development work) I can enable pop-ups for a single site (or a list of sites) without disabling the pop-up blocker entirely.
However, in Safari (version 7.0.3 on a MacBook Air running OS X 10.9.2) the only option I see in the Preferences window enables pop-up blocking for all sites, or none of them -- there is no way to allow pop-ups from a single site, or a list of sites.
How do I do this?

Settings > Safari > Block Popups
Turn it on to block all Popups or turn it off to allow Popups. You cannot block or allow Popups on a site specific basis.

* Not using JDeveloper *
Two questions:
I need to add logic to the lifecycle for one page and not all of the pages in the application.
1.) What is the best practice to write a Lifecycle PhaseListener for a single page?
I understand that I need to extend the PageController class and override the methods I want to change, then use the new page controller in your pages.

I am using ADF Faces, just not using the JDeveloper IDE to develop the application.
I am using Netbeans 5.5.1.
So going back to my question, after extending the PageController, how to I make that class a part of my application in Java code, faces-config.xml or adf-faces-config.xml?

Multiple beans getting created for a single jsf page

Hi all,
I am developing UI pages using JSF in 'IBM Websphere studio Application developer.'
Suddenly I have started facing some weired problem.
I have one jsp file 'Schedule_Process.jsp' and
corresponding bean file 'Schedule_Process.java'.
Everytime I run the jsp page a new bean file gets created with suffixes as 1,2,3...
So i have 'Schedule_Process1.java', 'Schedule_Process2.java'.....for a single jsp file.
The jsp file gets mapped to the newly created bean file. The mapping entry automatically comes in faces-config.xml file.
Thus my bean code is divided into multiple beans.
Sometimes this code run but sometimes it doesnot.
To get everthing working i have to remove extra mapping entires from faces-config.xml. Also have to delete all new versions of bean files except the latest one. and then i have to rename the latest file(with number as suffix) to remove the suffix.
This works sometimes but there no guarantee that it will work.
I desparately want to know the reason behind this problem.
Any help on this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Make sure in the faces-config.xml file you have
your managed bean set a session.
<managed-bean-scope>session</managed-bean-scope>
and assure that you have the follwoing lines of code in the web.xml file
<context-param>
<param-name>javax.faces.STATE_SAVING_METHOD</param-name>
<param-value>client</param-value>
</context-param>

Weird, so after clearing the cache a url using ajax
like this works

and this does not

Unfortunately, since each application running its own server will handle pages differently and have backend scripts that process the requests, there is not a whole lot we can do in the browser but clear the cache. It would require resources beyond this forum. If however, you can get in contact with the developer of that application and ask if this is expected, we would be happy to work with an example.

What part of that statement in your link do you not get? App developers will or will not make those changes, not Apple. It is entirely possible some apps will never get updated for retina, as their developers will drop those products and move on to new ones. Yes, Apple may set certain minimum standards and requirements for inclusion of anyone's app in their storefront (as I already said), but it is entirely up to the developers to actually implement those changes. Complaining on an Apple forum that a particular developer chose not to is pointless and a waste of everyone's time.

Publishing single folios for Android/Amazon is on the roadmap. Significant engineering work needs to be to allow the installation of large apps on Android devices.

No calendar change for a single event in a recurrring string of events

Why won't iCal allow me to change the calendar for a single event in a string of recurring events? Why am I not allowed this, but can change other details and even get prompted whether I want these changes to take effect over the single event or all the recurring events????
Could this be implemented in a future version of iCal???
