Below are the steps that i tried, but I didn’t found the solution:

  • Already existing tables in oracle 10g problem

Hi, i am new to oracle and just installed oracle 10g, my porblem is that when i ran the query i got an error.
    SQL> select *
    2 from emp;
    from emp
    ERROR at line 2:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
As emp table already exist in database but it does not show result. please help me. Thanks.

i have heared form someone that i should copy some text (from files) or some files which resides in bin folder (i don't know the exact path) in the sql console to access existing tables. is that ture? Not sure what that means... to access existing tables, or to create new ones you have to use Sql commands (or some graphic stuff).
What about reading some documentation ?
System user is a DBA, and can possibly read any tables, but most probably is not the owner of emp table. To know it you can do
    SQL> select owner from dba_tables where table_name='EMP';
then connect to that user, or, as system user, do
    SQL> select * from <owner>.emp;

  • Data source from Oracle 10g problem

    Dear Sir,
    We met a problem when we moved on Oracle 10g from Oracle 9i in the loading process. The scenario is that SQL Server as Data Warehouse, SSIS as ETL tool. But the length of string column as data source table in SSIS grows up 4 times when using Oracle 10g. For example, ABC table x varchar2(8) --> x varchar(32) -->x varchar(8) --> x varchar(8) {Oracle 10g        SSIS(source) }
This doesn’t influence the loaded result (I did not find any problem until now), but that influence loading performance and we worry about potential problems.
Do you have any idea or have you met the same problem before? Is I need setup some parameters like "code page"
    Thanks,
    Jacob

You could try General Database Discussions the main db foum.
What are you using to migrate your database? Why is it being mapped from varchar2(8) to varchar2(32). It sounds like someone/something is intervening here.

    Hi,
I have an application in - Front end tools : Oracle
Forms/Reports 4.5. RPT, SQL, and PROC(all are in
    CUI-character user interface)
    tabase : Oracle 7.3.4.
I have a plan for migrating database to 10g keeping
    front-end as it is.
Is there any compatibility issue with forms 4.5(CUI)
    with oracle 10g.
    Regards
JIJUCharacter interface?? you mean Forms 3 not 4.5??
It will not work, you cannot directly migrate Oracle 7.3.4 to 10g, you need to migrate it first to 8.1.6 and than to 10g.
Even if you succeed in your database migration your front end version will not work.

  • SQL Loader Oracle 10g problem in upload date with time data -- Very urgent.

    Hi
I am trying to upload data using SQL loader. There are three columns in the table
defined as DATE. When I tried upload a data like this '2007-02-15 15:10:20', it is not loading time part. The date stored as 02/15/2008' only. There is not time on that. I tried with many different format nothing work. Can please help me ?
I have also tried with to_date --> to_timestamp it did not work.
The application is going to be in production, I cannot change DATE to TIME STAMP. This is very urgent.
    LASTWRITTEN "decode(:LASTWRITTEN,'null',Null, to_date(:LASTWRITTEN,'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:Mi:SS'))",
    CREATEDON "decode(:CREATEDON,'null',Null, to_date(:CREATEDON,'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:Mi:SS'))",
    LASTUPDATEDON(21) "decode(:LASTUPDATEDON,'null',Null, to_date(:LASTUPDATEDON(21),'DD/MM/YYYY HH24:MI:SS'))"

Your problem is most likely in decode - the return type in your expression will be character based on first search value ('null'), so it will be implicitly converted to character and then again implicitly converted to date by loading into date column. At some of this conversions you probably are loosing your time part. You can try instead use cast:
    SQL> desc t
    Name                                      Null?    Type
    LASTWRITTEN                                        DATE
    CREATEDON                                          DATE
    LASTUPDATEDON                                      DATE
    SQL> select * from t;
    no rows selected
    SQL> !cat t.ctl
    LOAD DATA
    INFILE *
    INTO TABLE T
    TRUNCATE
FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"' TRAILING NULLCOLS
    LASTWRITTEN
    "decode(:LASTWRITTEN,'null',cast(Null as date),
      to_date(:LASTWRITTEN,'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS'))",
    CREATEDON
    "decode(:CREATEDON,'null',cast(Null as date),
      to_date(:CREATEDON,'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS'))",
    LASTUPDATEDON
    "decode(:LASTUPDATEDON,'null',cast(Null as date),
      to_date(:LASTUPDATEDON,'DD/MM/YYYY HH24:MI:SS'))"

  • Oracle 10g problems on Windows 2003 32bit

After much struggle I got 10g installed on my w2k3 server.
    It is very unreliable, however.
    1. The OracleDBConsoles<server name> will fail from time to time.
    2. my floppy disk drive is being accessed from time to time for no reason after the install (no, no virus - it stops when I stop all oracle services)
Is 10g really windows 2003 ready?
I mean, from the painful install, to it not behaving properly...
I used to have 9i r2 working flowlessly on the same machine. I may just go back to it.
I did a proper uninstall with a registry cleanup before trying to install 10g.
Anyone using 10g on w2k3 willing to share some insights?
    Thanks!

I know for sure that this will not be released until Feb 2005 as I cannot get a backport for a different bug and have been informed from Oracle Support.

  • Oracle 10g - Problem with Date Ranges using Between

I am keeping track of patients who have not been contacted during a date range. if a nurse adds an event or note and the note is type 1,3,4 then this is a contact. The following works but if the event or note was made on the same day as the report is run, the current contact is not printed. Any help to improve the query and identify the problem would be appreciated. Also, if you add '1' to' n.created_date_time BETWEEN '10-Jan-2010' AND TRUNC(SYSDATE)' so it is ' n.created_date_time BETWEEN '10-Jan-2010' AND TRUNC(SYSDATE) + 1'. It works. What is wrong?
    SELECT upper(symptom_text),
      COUNT(UNIQUE(c.patient_id)) ,
      COUNT(UNIQUE(
      CASE
        WHEN e.eventdate BETWEEN '10-Jan-2010' AND TRUNC(SYSDATE)
        OR (n.created_date_time BETWEEN '10-Jan-2010' AND TRUNC(SYSDATE)
        AND n.note_type_id                                             IN (1,3,4))
        THEN c.patient_id
        ELSE 0
      END)) - 1
    FROM patient c,
      cust_info ci,
      event e,
      note n
    WHERE c.physician_id = 74
    AND c.patient_id      = ci.patient_id
    AND ci.info_type_id    = 32
    AND ci.symptom_text      IS NOT NULL
    AND c.patient_id      = e.patient_id(+)
    AND c.patient_id      = n.pk_id(+)
    AND n.table_name(+)    = 'patient'
    GROUP BY upper(symptom_text)
ORDER BY DECODE(upper(symptom_text), 'A+', 1, 'A', 2, 'B', 3, 'C', 4, 'D', 5, 99)I suspect the end date is not inclusive. Fields are Date data types. Thanks for any help.

    Hi,
    achtung wrote:
Understood. Frank was correct. Do you mean about the dates? Is that issue solved now?
It would help a lot if you posted some sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements) and the results you want from that data. Simplify as much as possible. For example, if everything involving the e and n tables is working correctly, forget about them for now. Post a question that only invloves the c and ci tables.
But, additionally, when a record in the cust_info doesn't exist my contact count is inaccurate. How can you explain this conceptually. I understand the query path is checking for this record due to the predicate. Perhaps the query should be redesigned. Thanks for your input!Again, you can see the results, and you know what they should be. Nobody else has that information. Please post some sample data and the results you want from that data.
In your earlier message you said
Could there be a problem if a record does not exist in the ci table? The condition:
    AND ci.symptom_text IS NOT NULL
filters for this right? Maybe this could be part of the problem. why I'm not seeing records when a note is added to a patient's doc. How would this be technically be explained? You're doing a inner join between c and ci:
        AND c.patient_id      = ci.patient_id
        AND ci.info_type_id   = 32
AND ci.symptom_text   IS NOT NULL ...Rows from c will be included only if there is a row in ci with the same patiend_id: even more, that matching row in ci must also have info_type_id=32 in a non-NULL symptom_text, otherwise, the row from c will be ignored.
If you want rows from c to be included even if there is no matching row in ci, then do an outer join, like you're already doing with the e and n tables:
      WHERE c.physician_id = 74
        AND c.patient_id         = ci.patient_id (+)
        AND ci.info_type_id (+)  = 32
AND ci.symptom_text (+)  IS NOT NULL
        AND c.patient_id         = e.patient_id(+)
        AND c.patient_id         = n.pk_id(+)
        AND n.table_name(+)      = 'patient'

    Arjun,
you cannot do an online migration with MS Access as you can do with other foreign datasources. You can only do an offline migration.
The first step that you need to do is to call the Microsoft Access Exporter. Click on Tools - Migration - Microsoft Access Exporter and chose the exporter of the MS Access version that you are using.
The exporter creates an xml file for you. After the exporter has finished you can do the migration, click on Tools - Migration - Migrate, but in Step 4 please select "Offline", and then you can select the xml file that the exporter has created. The following steps in the Migration assistant are then doing the migration for you.
You might also want to read the chapter "Before Migrating From Microsoft Access" in the online help of SQL Developer.

    Greetings all!
I've got problem with Oracle 10g / iSQL+ that maybe someone here has seen.
I've got two instructors who show their students how to run SQL queries. Whenever more than about 10 students access iSQL+ it crashes and I have to restart the service or in some cases restart the server entirely.
The machine I'm using is NOT a server class machine. It is a single 2.66 GHz processor with 1 Gig of RAM running Server 2003. All it does is handle Oracle 10g and nothing else.
I've heard elsewhere that this will happen running 10g on a single processor machine. Can someone tell me what the minimum requirements are for 10g to run smoothly?

Fine if it is a licensed version & if you have the metalink id and password, you can easily update the patches from the EM console(http:\\localhost:....\em. where you have the option to download the patch provided you specify ur metalink id and password...
