I have trouble with the administrative assistant. It doesn't work. No errors,it simply just doesn't activate. O/S is Win NT 04. Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Airport Admin rescan doesn't work?

    I have two iMacs (500Mhz/400Mhz), 10.4.3, Airport Admin (4.1.1), Snow ABS.
    Every two or three days, I lose connection to the to the ABS(i.e. the w-network I set up). Airport Admin doesn't find it on a Rescan or Other, however I can still create a C2C network. An ABS power-on/off sometimes works, occasionally I have to do a hard reset/reload (yuk!).
    I can't seem to find the cause.
    What is strange is that the Airport Admin Rescan doesn't work on the 400Mhz iMac, but it does on the 500Mhz and the software is the same?
    Help appreciated!

    For the Airport Admin Utility "rescan" function to work, the Mac must have a fully functional connection with the Base Station. Performing a "rescan" should almost never be necessary in the first place, and it will only succeed if the underlying problem (eg a dropped wireless connection) gets fixed spontaneously before you click on the "rescan" button. In all likelihood, the "500MHz iMac" is able to successfully reconnect after a wireless connection failure (thus rescan eventually finds the Airport Base Station) whereas the "400MHz iMac" does not. Another possibility - the 400MHz iMac was never connected to your own Base Station in the first place, and instead was connected to the unprotected wireless network of one of your neighbors.
    The real question in all this - why are your Macs losing their connection in the first place? The most common reason - radiofrequency interference from neighboring wireless networks or other devices (like portable phones and microwave ovens) that share use of the same 2.4GHz frequency. Sometimes this can be helped by changing the channel the Base Station transmits on to one that is less subject to interference (channel 1 or 11 are good choices to start with). The channel selection setting is found under the Airport tab of the Airport Admin Utility.

  • Performed an Archive and Install and now my Admin password doesn't work

    I talked to CS this afternoon per an issue with iTunes and was instructed to perform an Archive and Install.
    I just got done running both discs and the computer seems ready to go. When I click on my user name (I'm the admin) my password no longer works. We have two other users on the computer (neither have been set up with a password to access the accounts) but now the computer is asking for one.
    I'm typing my password correctly.
    Does the computer reset to a generic password?
    Any help would be appreciated!!

    No, it most likely means that there was a disk problem, you can generally prevent... well, let me give you my whole spiel since we're here...
    Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
    Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

    Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.
    The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, or things don't load/run, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
    Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
    If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
    If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates again, or even do an A&I if you have enough free disk space.
    At this point it's not unlikely to undo the PW problem, but will prevent fiture problems.
    If it still doesn't work, go back to Step 2 above & lok for Change Password in the Menu bar.
    We have more if that still doesn't do it.

    So, whatever happened to a direct download link? hmmmm too easy lol.  this download assistant does not work at all.  I turned off all firewalls, downloaded the (***) and got to the license agreement and ok'd it and it wouldn't start download.  Yes I did download to Desktop for all so that it has full permission.  Now I had to go to support, receive 2 files that I have to download, combine in one folder, then unzip and then install.  Just for a trial.  I would be scared to handover $100-$600 for a full product and have to jump through this many hoops!! Why did Adobe make downloading such a pain in the behind with it's (***)! lol here's a thought:: KISS keep is simple...shall I say silly just to be nice

  • The airport assistant doesn't work on my PC

    I am a little bit sad cause I have a problem with my Pc and my AirPort Express Base...
    what I have :
    IBM Thinkpad T42P
    Win XP pro + sp1
    a lovely AirPort Express Base
    I bought this base few days ago, and everything worked very well (airTunes, printing, and internet)... Yesterday, I formated my hard drive and I set up again the airport assistant and .... this assistant do not see my aiport Express base anymore....Moreover, at the starting of this assistant, there is a message which say that that an error occurred when the windows try to use the wireless Networking system. Cool !
    Nevertheless, windows see the base but i can't access it. The base was set up with VPN...
    I reset the base, and set it up again with WEP... I did the same with my PC and set windows up again...
    The result is not good . The assistant tell me the same message and do not see the base. However, windows see my base and i can use the internet connection !!! oooo !!!
    Now, i want to use the airTunes ! How ?
    Should I set up win XP SP2?
    Please help me........

    2. download and install the Airport 4.2 update from:

  • My Admin Console doesn't work properly

    I'm J2e novice. I've just installed J2EE bundle and noticed that something is wrong:
    1) Whenever I start Admin Console for domain1 (default settings) it looks and works worse than Samples Server Admin Console. Compare the screenshots on http://astro.ia.uz.zgora.pl/~nirgal/problem/sas.htm
    2) I can't undeploy any web application (the undeploy button inactive -> see screenshots) using the Admin Console whereas undeploying on Samples Server works properly.
    3) In general there is many error messages at the bottom edge of Admine Console window during any session.

    There are "Error on page" errors only (displayed on the bottom info bar in the window).
    These are warnings I found in the server.log:
    1) Spaces in your PATH have been detected. The PATH must be consistently formated (e.g. C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0\bin; ) or the Appserver may not be able to start and/or stop. Mixed quoted spaces in your PATH can cause problems, so the launcher will remove all double quotes before invoking the process. The most reliable solution would be to remove all spaces from your path before starting the Appservers components.
    (I found no spaces in my PATH )
    2) default-locale attribute of locale-charset-info element has been deprecated and is being ignored. Use default-charset attribute of parameter-encoding element instead
    3) C:\Sun\AppServer\lib\install\applications\admingui\adminGUI_war\index_pl.html File Not Found
    (I found index.html in this directory. When I checked the file name to index_pl.html it didn't help.)
    Hello2 works properly, and there are no hello2 related errors. But I still can't undeploy it using Admin Console due to inactive 'Undeploy' button (I marked the hello2 checkbox).

    Got lots of Problems with the new Leopard update 10.5.7 . I needed to re-set up my MacBook and my G5. I thought it's not a problem, because i did my Time Machine Backups quiete frequently.
    Problem on my Macbook was, that my Data get restored on a date in September 2008... i couldn't belive it.
    But my much worse Problem is, when i did the same with my G5...
    I got all right accounts back. The admin one and my Developer one (i want to learn Cocoa)... The Problem is, that my G5 won't rmember my password! I'm really really ****** up! Me Idiot got lots of important Data on it!!!
    What can I do???

    I completly installed Leopard. in the End i was ask where it shall import data. Then i choosed the opportunity "from a TimeMachine Backup". and then it started to copy...
    I tried your link! it worked! actually it's kind of scary how easy it is to reset an admin password. But it helps

  • Instrument I/O assistant doesn't work, i've installed its driver after labview

    I've installed labview 7.1, NI DAQ740CD1 & CD2 and Instrument I/O assistant's driver. But when I open the properties
    of Instrument I/O assistant i have an error message which says that i have to installed Labview 7.0 before the Instrument I/O assistant's driver(i've done it). I desinstalled and reinstalled this driver but after the operations, the same message is still here.
    i tried to do something else. i've desintalled labview and all the drivers. the Labview installation program prompted me to insert the National Instruments Device Drivers CD. i clicked "cancel" (it's said on the notice) and i've installed the NI 488.2 Driver, the NI DAQmx Base Driver, NI DAQ740CD1 & CD2 and Instrument I/O assistant's driver. I have always the same message. Why ant what can I do??? I need to have the output "TokenName" on the Instrument I/O Assistant and it's not here.

    Which driver have you on your computer ? You can see them in MAX >> Software. Which is version of ni-visa, ni-488.2 ?
    What kind of protocol do you want to use : gpib, serial, parallel ?
    What ahhpens in AMX when you test your communication ?
    What are error code and error string ?
