Oracle Connections with application

What are the popular methods the way oracle DB is connected to application, i am doing some research for single instance and for RAC....any good notes/article would be help....

Databases do not connect to applications. Applications connect to databases.
As to your question: just read the Concepts Manual or the Net administrators manual for your version.
As this documentation is readily available, there is no need for you to ask here.

  • CANNOT CONNECT WITH APPLICATION HOSTED ON NETWORK

    Hi,
I created a small application with Oracle 10gXE and hosted it on my PC which serves as the hub of our network in my office. However, I have not been able to access the application from other PCs on the network. What should I do? The application works fine on my PC, with or without internet connection. But we need to be able to access it from any point in out office so we can all use it.

What is the meaning of this sentence:
Service Administration is not available. The concept of hosting Oracle APEX service not available in this version of Oracle APEX. To host an Application Express instance for many users across multiple workspaces, the database will need to be upgraded to Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition or Standard Edition.
May be this is the source of this problem? I have looked for XE and APEX for the reason of having an SQL server and an application server for a small workgroup but this line made me indeterminated.

Gk Joe could please me understand "valid node checking"Learning where to look things up in the documentation is time well spent investing in your career. To that end, you should drop everything else you are doing and do the following:
Go to tahiti.oracle.com. Drill down to your product and version.
Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what is available here. Take special note of the "books" and "search" tabs. Under the "books" tab you will find the complete documentation library. <b>Look under the 'search' tab for 'VALID_NODE'. </b>
Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what kind of documentation is available there by simply browsing the titles under the "Books" tab.
Open the Reference Manual and spend a few minutes looking through the table of contents to get familiar with what kind of information is available there.
Do the same with the SQL Reference Manual.
Do the same with the Utilities manual.
You don't have to read the above in depth. They are reference manuals. Just get familiar with what is there to be referenced. Ninety percent of the questions asked on this forum can be answered in less than 5 minutes by simply searching one of the above manuals.
Then set yourself a plan to dig deeper.
    - Read a chapter a day from the Concepts Manual.
    - Take a look in your alert log. One of the first things listed at startup is the initialization parms with non-default values. Read up on each one of them in the Reference Manual.
    - Take a look at your listener.ora, tnsnames.ora, and sqlnet.ora files. Go to the Network Administrators manual and read up on everything you see in those files.
    - When you have finished reading the Concepts Manual, do it again.

  • Oracle connectivity with mysql

    Hello Guys,
I want a connectivity between oracle and mysql. Both databases are running on my server. I want to configure them in such a way that they have connectivity among each other.
If i insert a record in one of the table in Oracle database, the same record should also be insert in mysql database. the table structure is same in both of the databases.
    Please help me doing this.
    Regerds,
    Imran Baig

Oracle supports connectivity using the Heterogeneous Services, basically coinnecting via ODBC. As far as I know, there is no official connection between Oracle and MySQL, but you should be able to make such a connection using the HS.
Fully documented in the ORacle docs for the version of interest - start at http://docs.oracle.com

  • Application deployed on Oracle Java Cloud Service - SaaS Extension is not connecting with cloud database.

    Hello Experts,
I have deployed an ADF application on Oracle Java Cloud Service - SaaS Extension and also deployed database objects from local environment to cloud using JDeveloper. I can see the cloud database has tables and data which I have deployed but when I access the application it seems it is not able to connect with cloud database.
I have followed below document and same sample application (HRSystem).

  • Problem with Application Login after upgrading to Oracle 11g

I have a home-grown application with Oracle 10g database running under Windows XP Pro. Recently, I installed Oracle 11g and imported the application database from 10g to 11g (still want to keep the 10g running for a while). However, I now having problem with the application logging into the new 11g database. (Keep getting invalid user/name message).
BTW, I have no problem accessing the 11g database through SQLPlus (logging in with the same name and password that I use for the application), and the connection test of NetManager (again using the same name and password that I use for the application) was successful.
The application itself uses the old Borland BDE (Borland Database Engine) to access the 10g and 11g database. Testing confirms that BDE can access Oracle 11g with no problems.
Any idea about the probable cause(s) of the problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    sg2000

11g by default is case sensitive username/password.
You can disable that with setting parameter SEC_CASE_SENSITIVE_LOGON to false.
    SQL> SHOW PARAMETER SEC_CASE_SENSITIVE_LOGON
    SQL> ALTER SYSTEM SET SEC_CASE_SENSITIVE_LOGON = FALSE;

  • Unable to Connect Oracle 7 with Data Services 3.2

    Hi All,
I am incredibly facing an issues with Oracle 7 connecting with Data Services 3.2. with Native client drivers (TNS Names).
The client legacy application is on Oracle 7, they are moving the data from legacy to SAP ECC. My role is to transfer the data from Oracle 7 to SAP ECC, We are using Data Services 3.2 for conversion. This Data Services 3.2 is not connecting with Oracle 7 by using oracle native drivers (TNS Names).
I am able to connect Oracle 8 client with SQL *Plus, but with Data Services its not connecting, I am able create Data Store but when try to import the table the error message I am getting like "ORA-24316: Illegal handle Type"
Is there any other solution for this to connect, or Is Data Services 3.2 will not connect to Oracle 7 since its older version.
Please reply with your thoughts, or with some solution.
Appreciate your prompt reply. Many thanks.

    Hi Paul,
Currently I am using ODBC connection to read the data from legacy Oracle7, but ODBC is very very slow, queries are taking hours to fetch the data. Is there any other solution by chance... I read that DataDirect is the one can connect to any versions of oracle and its bit faster, is that true. Please clarify me. If that is the solution where can I get this DataDirect drivers for oracle 7? Please advice me.
    Thank  You,

I had failed to connect to connect external Oracle  via JDBC connector .
Could you please help me to resolve the problem ?
    Backgroud:

The target Oracle DB version is 10g(10.1.0.2.0, 64bi).
    Configuration procedure :
    1. Import Oracle driver "ojdbc14.jar" and create new driver which named "Oracle "  under

  • Problems with connection with Oracle Database (Dreamweaver)

I'm trying to create a connection with a oracle database, with JDBC.
In order to do that, I've downloaded the classes12.zip driver in my machine. This is the driver from Oracle.
    I've put this file into directory c:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX\Configuration\JDBCDrivers.
So, I've gone to Window -> Application -> Databases menu into Dreamweaver MX, clicked in the plus (+) signal and choosed Oracle thin Driver (Oracle).
I've filled thin window with the following values:
    Connection name: conn1
    Driver: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    URL: jdbc:oracle:thin:@machinename:1521:SID
    Username: ....
    Password: ...
When I click in the Test button into this window, the following success message appears:
    Connection was made successfully!
But when I go to Bindings window to build a Recordset, the connection doesn't get the tables, and the following error message appears:
Unable to retrieve tables from this connection, click on 'Define...' button to test this connection.
Does somebody know the answer for this problem?
    Thank you.

Don't bother with a loopback adapter unless you are using a laptop that needs Oracle to work whether connected or unconnected to the business network. Much simpler to just arrange for DHCP to assign you a fixed IP address (a lease reservation).
It's the change of IP address which trips Oracle up, not the existence of DHCP. So if you can make sure your IP address will be the same, no matter how you acquire it, that's all you have to do.
Installing a loopback adapter which isn't the primary interface at the point you install Oracle will mean your installation will get very confused as to whether to address things via the 127... address or the "normal" IP address. And yes, at that point, you'll not be able to connect to instances, or run listeners or do all sorts of other things reliably.
If it were me, I'd uninstall the mess you probably now have as far as Oracle goes, install something like VirtualBox (free) or VMware Workstation (costs) and enjoy your Oracle experience inside the confines of a virtual machine whose networking setup you can configure and control to your heart's content, without it screwing up your real machine's ability to connect to your work's network when it needs to.

OK I can connect and add a new data source when I am in the Creator IDE. When I run the application in gives me the error below. What I have found is the system does not create the JDBC resource and the JDBC Connection pool on the Application Server. Is there a way I need to push this down? I have not had to do this whenm I made test apps in PointBase, do I need to do it when I am using Oracle connection.

No. You need not have to do this. Creator should automatically do this for you.
BTW, are you using the DataDirect JDBC jar files that comes bundle with Creator?
The following exception tells me, this could be becuase the JDBC driver your using is not JDBC 3.0 compliant. The error occurs when a "PreparedStatement" is created and the driver is returning null at that point.
