Oracle Failsafe - Add Resource to Group

hi to all,
i have a question about using Oracle Failsafe.
I have had a 2 Node Cluster (Czvsor1 and czvsor2) with Clustergroup and Oracle Group with database db1 in it on node czvsor1 with perfect working failover to node czvsor2 managed by Failsafe Manager - All running on windows2003 server.
Now i wanted to bring up a third node czvsor3 with the database ORCFIBU on it, adding this node to cluster , creating a second oracle group on this node, add resource (database) to this group and manage it with failsafe manger to failover to my second node czvsor2 when needed.
Everything went perfect - adding node to cluster, creating and testing oracle group 2 with 2 SAN devices, moving oracle group no node 2 and back again.
BUT adding database to group failed - errors in verifying Devices
Here are the protokolls:

ANY IDEAS WHATS WRONG????????
Group has 2 SAN DEVICES K and L which i can move without any problems to node czvsor2 and back - but without the database.
Normally my First node CZVSOR1 with Oracle Group CZVSOC01 on it is not involved for i removed this node from the available nodes list in my new group CZVSOC2
DO i have to make K an L available from Node 1 CZVSOR1 ????
General Question is it possible to have a 3 node Cluster with the following Configuration
Node1 with Oracle Group 1 and database 1 managed to failover to node2
Node3 with oracle Group 2 and database 2 managed to failover to node 2
PLEASE I NEED URGENT HELP
MANY MANY THANKS TO ALL!
Joachim

Yes, but yet not find a solution.
we restarted the installation from scratch and now we are at the phase of the database instance.
We noticed the following during the configuration of the first MSCS node :
at the time where sapinst creates the sap cluster group, we get the error:
"could not create sap cluster group. Please look at R3Clus.log"
Behind it appears a screen where we are prompted to add manually the values. We added manually the values and then the sap cluster group was succesfully created and the configuration of the first MSCS node finished without reporting errors.
But we noticed that although the SAPLOC share is normaly created in HA installation through ASCS installation and automatically removed when processing First MSCS Node, it was not removed at our case.
We would like to know if the whole above symptom is normal or we must
expect problems at the continuing of the installation of ECC6?
If it is not normal what else we can do, so that sapinst do not
stop at the creation of the sap cluster group ?

• HELP! Oracle FailSafe - Listener fails when adding standalone database

Well, I have a cluster of two nodes with the following specs:
(1) an Oracle 10g database each
(2) Microsoft Cluster Service (MSCS)
(3) Windows Server 2003 64-bit edition
(4) Intel Itanium Processor
(5) Oracle Failsafe 3.3.3 for Windows 2003 64-bit
The 64-bit Oracle Failsafe doesn't come with Oracle Failsafe Manager, so I used a Failsafe Manager remotely from another clustered servers. The version is also 3.3.3, but it's running on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server.
Well, after connecting to the 64-bit cluster, I added the standalone database to a Cluster Group. There are two cluster groups on the Server:
(1)"Cluster Group" (the default cluster group created by MSCS); containing an IP address, a network name, Oracle Cluster Services, and the Quorum hard drive.
(1)"ORACLE DB" A cluster gropu I created for the database; containing another IP address, a network name for the IP address, and every hard drive volumes of the database files.
The database currently resides on the Node 2 (because I created it there). I have successfully verified the database (using "Verify Standalone Database" option). BUT when I added the database into the cluster group ORACLE DB, it failed with the following message:
23 20:48:48 ** ERROR : FS-10066: Failed to start Windows service OracleOraDb10g_home1TNSListener for the Oracle Net listener
When I opened the Windows Event Viewer, apparently the Listener Service had started, but it soon "terminated unexpectedly":
At first, the Listener Service appeared to be started:
But this is what happened next; it seemed the Listener Service terminated abruptly after entering the running state for a very short time:
What happened? What should I do? What is the problem? Many thanks!
PS: the following are the messages from both Verifying Standalone Database and Adding Standalone Database. The verification was successfull, but I just failed to add the database:

• Oracle failsafe on MSCS

I'm not sure where but I think I missed a configuration somewhere. This is my first time installing and working with all this so I'm sure there is an easy answer I just don't have it.
I am running:
Windows 2008 R2 64bit
Oracle 11g R2 64bit
Failsafe 3.4.2
I have everything installed and "mostly" working.
Everything on the primary node seems to work fine. Everything went fairly smoothly and I was able to create the database and the listener and all that work perfectly on the primary node.
The problem is:
When I fail over to the secondary node the database seems to work and the applications can connect but sqlplus and EM don't. I get the typical:
ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
What configuration did I miss?

How to Configure the 10.2 DB Control in a Failsafe Environment
ID: 452305.1
HOWTO:  PUBLISHED 17-OCT-2008
In this Document
Goal
Solution
References
Applies to:
Enterprise Manager Grid Control - Version: 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.3
Information in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
The goal of the document is to provide the steps to configure the DB Console in an Oracle Failsafe environment.
Please note that the solution offered in this document is not certified by Oracle. It's only provided as a workaround for customers who wish to use this setup for the Database Control Console in a failsafe environment. Support for the procedure outlined in this document will be provided on a 'best efforts' approach.
As an alternative to this approach you can use Grid Control Agents to monitor a database in a failsafe environment. For more details please see:
Note 396659.1  How To Setup Grid Control Central Agent Manually in Oracle Failsafe Environment
We assume the following:
- the database binaries are installed on each node on the local disk
- you already have a failsafe group with the database, the listener, disk resource, and virtual
ip/hostname
Note: This is specific for Windows environments using Oracle Failsafe. For setting up the DB Console in Active/Passive clusters on UNIX please use the following note instead:
Note 362524.1 Configure DB Control 10.2 for use in Active/Passive High Availability Environments
Solution
1. Drop the DB Control repository and configuration files on the active node:
<ORACLE_HOME>/bin/emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop
2. Recreate the DB Control using the virtual hostname:
- in a command window do the following:
set oracle_sid=<your_sid>
set oracle_home=<your_oracle_home>
set oracle_hostname=<virtual_hostname>
cd %oracle_home%\bin
emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create
-- make sure that the virtual host name was picked up by emca (it will display a summary screen
before continuing)
3. Verify that the DB Console works fine and can be accessed using the virtual host name in the URL
4. Stop the DB Console
5. Create a directory path on the group disk resource similar to your oracle home path on the local disk.
For example:
If the oracle home on the local disk is C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1 and the shared disk is D:
then create the following path: D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1
Copy C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\<hostname_sid> and
C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\oc4j\j2ee\OC4J_DBConsole_<hostname_sid>
to D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\<hostname_sid> and respectively
D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\oc4j\j2ee\OC4J_DBConsole_<hostname_sid>
Remember to change the values enclosed in <> with those in your environment.
6. Delete the following directories from the local disk
C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\<hostname_sid>
C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\oc4j\j2ee\OC4J_DBConsole_<hostname_sid>
7. Create NTFS junction points from the local disk to the shared disk (these work like symbolic
links on UNIX) . It is your responsibility to create these.
You can find a brief guide as well as some tools that will help you create them at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTFS_junction_point
http://www.microsoft.com/technet ... dDisk/Junction.mspx
Important: Please note that this functionality is not certified nor supported by Oracle. Make sure you understand the
implications. Especially don't delete the junction points from Windows Explorer !!
In the end you should have the junction points on the local disk (with the same names as the
original directories) that would point to the directories you copied on the shared disk.
8. Start the DB Console service and verify that everything is still working fine.
9. Stop the DB Console service.
10. Move the Fail Safe group to the 2nd node.
11. Once the database is started, create the DB Console configuration files on the 2nd node:
<ORACLE_HOME>/bin/emca -config dbcontrol db
12. Stop the DB Console
13. Delete the created configuration files from the local disk:
C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\<hostname_sid>
C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\oc4j\j2ee\OC4J_DBConsole_<hostname_sid>
14. Create junction points from the local disk to the directories already located on the shared
disk.
15. Start the DB Console service and verify that is working fine.
16. Add the DB Console service as a resource to the fail safe group and put dependencies on the
database and listener services.
17. Perform a fail over and see if everything works fine.

• How to make a full import into database under Oracle Failsafe v3.3.3?

Hi, my database(9.2.0.1) was implemented on OFS (3.3.3), When i try to startup the database, there were some error occurred -- "ORA-368 signalled during: alter database open..." and the database instance shutdown.
I have a newly full database export, what should I do to successfully bring my database back? Any commands are appreciated!

Hi, The following brief steps was what I had done yesterday to restore my corrupted database.
1. Remove the corrupted DB from OFS manager
2. Copy all the database files via OS command
3. Delete the corrupted DB via DBCA
4. Create new database via DBCA
5. Add new database to Oracle Failsafe via OFS Manager
(1) Discover Standalone database
(2) Add the standalone database to Resource Group
6. Import the exported dump file to the new database.

• Configure OEM on Oracle Failsafe 3.4.2 (11g R2) on windows 2008

Hi Friends,
Please let me know how to configure Oracle Enterprise Manager(OEM) On Oracle Failsafe 3.4.2 (11g R2 Database) on windows 2008.

• MS Cluster & Oracle FailSafe problem

Hi there,
We are using MS Cluster with Oracle FailSafe 3.3.4 on a 2 node cluster.
1 database instance on each of the 2 nodes configured as active/active.
When I stop the MS Cluster service for SAN disk maintenance, the 2 databases are shutdown automatically.
But when MS Cluster service is started up, in Windows Service on both nodes shows that the Oracle listener and Database instance are started.
However, in actual fact, when I try to connect to the database is says that the instance is not started.
When I check the alert logfile, there is no entry where the database is started when MS Cluster service is started.
Is there any additional configuration settings which I need to do on MS Cluster or Oracle FailSafe?
The only way to startup both the listener and database on the 2 nodes is to startup manually.
All the Oracle listeners and Database + disks + network IP are already assigned as resources in their individual cluster group.
In FailSafe manager or MS Cluster admin, I can offline and online the resource group for both nodes. But still, in Windows services, they appear started while in actual fact I still need to start them up manually.
Appreciate any advise.
Cheers
Jim

Hi Tiburon,
no you don't need MSDTC as a resource in the cluster group. I have a similar configuration and following Cluster ressources in my Cluster Group
- Cluster IP Adress
- Cluster Name
- Disk Q (Quorum Disk)
- Oracle Services for MSCS
nothing else in the Cluster Group
Contents of my Oracle Group are
- Disk F
- Disk G
- Disk H
- Disk I
- some more disks all on SAN
- Oracle IP
- Oracle Name
- OracleOraDb10g_DbTNSListenerFslczvsoc01
- ORC1 (Database)
everything works perfect
May be that helps a little

Folks,
I'm running Oracle 10.2.0.3 {PATCH 29} on Windows32 with Oracle Failsafe 3.4.4.1. I've tried implementing the IPC fix and the dynamic_registration=OFF fix as prescribed and get the listener.log error listed below with either attempt. It doesn't look like either fix works for FAILSAFE.

• Need info regarding Oracle UCM Accounts and Security Groups behaviour

Need information regarding Oracle UCM Accounts and Security Groups behaviour.
Oracle UCM version: 11.1.1.5.0
Steps:
1. Log in with "weblogic" user and created a content with id "content1"
2. Applied "@acc1(R)" and "TestGroup1" to the cotent created in step 1
3. Log out
4. Log in as "acc1user1", the user is not able to see the "content1"
5. Log out
6. Log in as "role1user1", the user is not able to see the "content1"
Account and Group information:
1. User "acc1user1" is part of "@acc1(R)"
2. User "role1user1" is part of "role1(R)" and is mapped to "TestGroup1" in UCM
Expected:
Both "acc1user1" and "role1user1" should be able to see "content1" as they have at least Read permission.
Please help me understand why the users are not able to see the content.

ACLs, like Accounts, are optional security setting which may add on some extra functionality to mandatory security groups. Likewise, the resulting permission is taken as an intersection of SG and ACLs.
But in the second part the number of set of users is huge (approx say 600)I don't get this completely. Does this mean that those "sets of users" (users who see the same data) are distinct and that there is 600 of such groups?
If you read thoroughly the manual I sent earlier, there is a recommendation that there should be maximum 50 security groups, and you should use accounts, should this number be exceeded. This means you could have all the documents in one security group (and have one common role with Read permission), but combine it with accounts. ACLs are not a good choice here - their performance and manageability is much worse than of accounts. ACLs are primarily used if you expect security settings to change during the lifetime (e.g. a project manager adds temporarily rights to access an item to another user, and revokes it when the user finishes his or her work).
Note that accounts as well as permissions of users within accounts can also be mapped externally (from LDAP/AD) and it usually follows some kind of org chart.
I'd feel more comfortable not to speak about users, security groups, roles, etc., but about some real-life objects and scenarios.

Once column is for assignment and another one is for Resource.
Assignment means when you crate a task then assign that task to resource then task become assignment.
when you will create report in for Resource_skill_resource you will be able to group by or filter resource as per their skill.
As far as Resource_Skill_R_Assignment is concerned  you can group by or filter assignment for resource as per their skill
Resource CUBE: The
Resource Non Timephased and Resource Timephased OLAP cubes contain resource data. These two OLAP cubes do not contain any Total fields in common, but do contain several Dimensions in common (such as Booking Type and Resource List).
Assignment: The

• SCCM 2012 Security to allow users to add resource to a collection

Hi,
I need to permission IT Support staff so they are able to add computers to certain collections in SCCM 2012. I created a new Role and assigned the following permissions under "Collection"
Read, Modify, Modify Resource, delete resource, read resource, Modify Collection setting, read AMT.
Also allowed read at site level.
Users are still unable to add computers to a collection ? Any ideas why ?
I did read a previous post which said something about also having to permission users to the limiting collection but this doesnt make sense, and sounds insecure.
Thanks

Here is a solution that should work for you. Perform this on a test account with only the security role you are going to change for your users in question.
Create a new collection that is a copy of your collection limiting collection mentioned above.
Set the limiting collection of this new collection to something other than the limiting collection it defaults to, which is the copied collection.
Select the collections to which you wish to grant Add Resource permissions to and set their limiting collection to this new collection.
Within your Administrative user or group properties, specify this new limiting collection and the collections you wish to allow Add Resource permissions under the "Associate assigned security roles with specific security scopes and collections - don't forget
to add your security scope.
Apply the changes and test - don't forget to restart the console of your test account.
This does a couple things - it allows the Add Resource function to the specific collections you wish for the specific Administrative user/group you wish.  It does NOT allow modify on the limiting collection. And it separates the specific collections
you tag as being modifiable by the specified group.
We had the same issue in our environment - need a specific group to be able to Add Resource to a single specific collection which was being limited by the All Workstations collection.  Allowing modify to the All Workstations collection allowed modifications
to any collection limited by All Workstations. So I came up with the solution above, tested against my test accounts and it works as I needed.
Hopefully this will solve your issue and give you some options going forward.

• I missed to add Standby Logfile groups? What now?

Hi there
I have created a Standby database in a test environment using RMAN   (followed the procedure given here -> URL:  Creating a Standby Database with Recovery Manager).
When I tried to start the recovery on Standby, I got the following error:
SQL> ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE USING CURRENT LOGFILE DISCONNECT;
ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE USING CURRENT LOGFILE DISCONNECT
ERROR at line 1:

NAME      OPEN_MODE  GUARD_S DATABASE_ROLE
PRIM      MOUNTED    NONE    PHYSICAL STANDBY
SQL>
I missed the step to add standby logfile groups. Do I need to recreate the Standby database now? I mean, add standby logfile groups to Primary, then take full RMAN backup and recreate the standby database (following the procedure described in the URL above)?
I am using Oracle 10gR2 on OEL 5.8.
Please advise!
Best regards

OK thank you both - I have added the standby logfile groups both on Primary and Standby (mounted) database and I was able to successfully issue the following command:
ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE USING CURRENT LOGFILE DISCONNECT;
I hope this was the right thing to do under the circumstances, right?
And now there seems to be a gap:
PRIM_SQL> SELECT MAX(SEQUENCE#) FROM V$ARCHIVED_LOG;
MAX(SEQUENCE#)
                11
STDBY_SQL> SELECT MAX(SEQUENCE#) FROM V$LOG_HISTORY;
MAX(SEQUENCE#)
                 9
I issued "alter system switch logfile" few times on the Primary but logs don't seem to be shipping? How to check this and fix?
EDIT: OK I checked the Primary alert log file and see following messages:
Error 1031 received logging on to the standby
Tue Jun 25 15:22:43 2013
Errors in file /u01/app/oracle/admin/prim/bdump/prim_arc0_6880.trc:

I do have password file both on Primary and Standby servers. What is this "ORA-01031: insufficient privileges" referring to?
EDIT#2:
I copied the password file from Primary DB server to Standby server (with same name "orapwprim" - previously I used "orapwstan" name for standby password file) and the "login issue" is resolved. But now I see following error in the alert log file on Primary:
PING[ARC0]: Heartbeat failed to connect to standby 'stan'. Error is 1031.
Tue Jun 25 15:48:08 2013
ARCH: Possible network disconnect with primary database
Any clues here?

Sorry - this is the same for 2007. You cannot import distribution lists. You can create a security group in AD and nest the DL into. Then add the security group into the collection with a direct rule.
Cheers
