Oracle xe (windows) and netca

Hi,
I need to create a service. Where did the netca, but in xe is not?
What should I do?
Thanks.

Hi,
You can use ORADIM to create a new service.
Example :-
oradim -new -sid %ORACLE_SID% -intpwd MYSECRETPASSWORD -startmode MRefer : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/win.102/b14304/create.htm

  • Trade-Off Oracle on Windows and UNIX

    Hi All,
We are in process to decide whether Oracle database should reside on Windows OR UNIX,
Hence would thankful if anyone can help me with some technical points for favouring UNIX compared to Windows.

Does anyone ever have problems / concerns with Windows Server Security Updates? Which to apply, should I apply the Security Updates, etc? When you install an Oracle database, you will need to decide which is more important - your data or your operating system.
If your data, then you will investigate every operating system change individually using such resources as a Test system and My Oracle Support to determine whether you can
    - use that operating system
    - upgrade the operating system
    - patch the operating system
However, most people these days seem to assume that Oracle will be resilient against any changes at the OS. It is a moderately fair assumption, but can (and will) bite at the most inconvenient time.
    So to answer your questions
    1) Does anyone ever have problems / concerns with Windows Server Security Updates?
I always have concerns with these updates until they have been tested on the test system.
    2) Which to apply, should I apply the Security Updates, etc?
Those that have passed regression testing on the test system.
If you do not have a test system, all you need to do is a standard risk analysis: Is it acceptable to you and your organization if an OS patch changes the API in such a way that the database stops working for a period of time? If yes, how long is an acceptable period of time?
As for which (between Linux/Unix/Windows is better - this "Security Updates" question is equally valid in every operating system, so all you need to do is consider your skill set.

  • Running Oracle on Windows 2008 R2 64-bits and WCF

I'm trying to deploy to a Windows 2008 R2 64-Bits server running AppFabric a WCF 4.0 service that connects to an Oracle 10gR2 database. On my Windows 7 64-Bits, inside Visual Studio 2010, everything goes well. I first started using Oracle ODP.NET and, on deploy, I started getting the:
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.DataAccess, Version=2.112.2.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
    File name: 'Oracle.DataAccess, Version=2.112.2.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342'
I tried so many things, and nothing seemed to work, and since I'm kinna desperate to get this working, and went to OracleClient, despite the fact that it's marked as deprecated, just to get this working, and buy me time. I removed everything I had installed, but installed just the win64_11gR2_client.zip, with the runtime option. However, than I started getting:
System.DllNotFoundException: Unable to load DLL 'oramts.dll': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)
So I reinstalled the win64_11gR2_client.zip, adding the Oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server component. But then, whenever I made a call to my WCF service, IIS would crash with the error below:
Faulting application name: w3wp.exe, version: 7.5.7601.17514, time stamp: 0x4ce7afa2
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7601.17514, time stamp: 0x4ce7c8f9

    Report Id: 7630c4b0-7707-11e0-8419-00155d010609
If I tried to change the AppPool to enable 32-bits application, the WSDL doesn't even get generated, and I get the:
A process serving application pool 'MyAppPool' suffered a fatal communication error with the Windows Process Activation Service. The process id was '2856'. The data field contains the error number.
I'm lost, and I don't know what to do. How can it be this hard to do a "simple" and typical Oracle set up? What problem would I try to solve? Does anyone know of a blog post that would show how to correctly set this up? I tried looking, but coudln't find anything, and I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem
Well, any help would be really appreciated. Tks so much

Supported on Win 2008 R2 64bit is only 10gR2( with patchset level 10.2.0.5) and 11gR2. Oracle support will refuse any assistance for earlier versions, that should you keep in mind. Although some people say client is not so critical as the database server.

  • How to find the Date and time of Installation of Oracle in Windows?

    Hi ,
Is there any way to find the installation Date and time of Oracle in Windows?
    Regards
    Rajesh

If you have never recreated/restored/reincarnated the database, then CREATED column from v$database should tell you when you created the database.
If you are looking for the date/time of installation of Oracle home, check the logs under OraInventory.

    Noble,
This is not the best forum for this question.
Maybe the public news forums would be better,
or Oracle support if it is available to you.
    My comments would be:
Oracle has the async v1 and v2 protocol for doing this,
but your best bet is to set up a tcp/ip ppp connection, as used
    by 200 million internet users..
This may raise some security concerns, but dialling back to the
server trying to make the connection, as well as the normal
password protection gives some security comfort.
Information on how to do this should be widely available as it is
not Oracle or windows or hp specific.
You can then use a normal tcp/ip connection database link etc..

  • Doubt with Windows and Oracle Forms 10G and 11g

    Hi
I have some doubts in installing Oracle Client on Windows.
a)Can we install Oracle Forms 10g and Reports 10g client on Windows 7?
b)Can we install Oracle Forms 11g and Reports 11g client on Windows XP?
c)If we have an Oracle Forms 11g and Reports 11g, can it connect to a 10g Server?
d)If we have an Oracle Forms 10g and Reports 10g Client, can it connect to an 11g Server?
Please, Can any one help me in this????

a)yes it can be installed on win7, may have some issues on 64bit systems but they're solvable
b)11g had some problems with windows 2000, but didn't see mention of any problems on XP
c)if you mean a database server then yes - i managed to connect 11g to an 8i database, so v10 should not be a problem. If you mean a forms/reports server..well newer forms/reports builder might not want to run old forms/reports and vice versa, but I don't see the point of operating on the same files from different versions. You can still load old form/report source files with a newer builder and recompile them to run on the new server.
    d) the "client" is effectively your web browser with a java plugin, unless I misunderstood your question. What version was a form/report compiled with should not be an issue.

  • Oracle 8i Windows Client and 9i Unix Database server

Is it recommended to use Oracle Windows 8i client against Oracle 9i Database server?
Does anyone have an official Oracle link about this?
    Thanks
    Dipak

Only by putting an Oracle 8 database between them... You can set up an Oracle 8 database with a dblink to the Oracle 7 database and connect to that via an Oracle 9 client. Not pretty and not particularly efficient, but it'll work in a pinch.

i found that parameter but didn't know what to set to it i even has no forms in my pc thanks again
    Regards,
    Abdetu...Hi Abdetu,
There is 3 parameters in the <DevSuiteHome>\forms\server.formsweb.cfg having the same behavior.
    Logo
    Background
    SplashScreen
By default (if you don't have specified them in you [section] they values are inherited from the [default] section) the values are
    Logo=
    Background=
    SplashScreen=
This means you will have the oracle logo, the Forms Services background image in your applet and the oracle splash screen at startup.
*To have nothing shown then just put the value no in front of these 3 parameters*
    Logo=no
    Background=no
SplashScreen=noYou can also customize that with you own gif files.
For this you have to put your images in a icons.jar file
place it in your <DevSuiteHome>\forms\java where frmall.jar and others are located.
    then in your formsweb.cfg :
    Archive=frmall.jar, icons.jar
    ImageBase=CodeBase
    Logo=yourlogo.gif
    Background=yourbackground.gif
SplashScreen=yourbeautifullsplachscreen.gifAnd at least if you have a small gif in your icons.jar for the window you can also defining the Icon Filename property in Forms builder. This wile replace the default forms runtime icon.
    Hope this helps

  • Window oracle job scheduler and Oracle server scheduler relationship

    Hi Experts,
We use oracle 10G R4 in window 2003 server.
From window server panel,we can see OracleJobSchedulerORCAID server is disable. However, I check oracle Jobs from EM.
I can saw schedule jobs are running in there.
What relationship is between window scheduler server and Oracle Schdeler?
As I know we can stop/start window Oracle database serve,r DBconsle EM server and Listener server in window server to control oracle
.Why window oracle schedule does not affect Oracle schdule job?
    Thanks Experts to explaining?
    JIm

10g R4 is not an existing Oracle version. 10.2.0.4 is.
Oracle EM has three different schedulers:
    - dbms_job
    - dbms_scheduler
    - EM's own scheduler. Jobs submitted in the EM scheduler are spawned by the Management Agent.

  • Multiple oracle homes on Windows and the "Path" environment variable

    Hi There,
We have a windows 2003 database server that has few databases running oracle 10.2.0.3. We are installing oracle 11.2.0.1 on the box as well, and we were wondering, which binaries should come 1st in the path environment variable? and how does this effect the working oracle environment?
Going to the oracle home selector and swapping the 2 oracle homes around will have the same effect on the windows path variable - which will treat the 1st oracle home to be the default home - are there any general rules reg. multiple oracle homes on a server and the default home?
Should the earlier version of oracle always proceed the newer one (i.e. c:\oracle\product\10.2.0.3\bin;c:\oracle\product\11.2.0.1\bin) or should the newer oracle version comes 1st as newer oracle versions are usually backward compatible?
    Your thoughts are highly appreciated.
    Thanks

    That isn't going to happen.
If you install 11.2 last it will appear in the PATH variable first
If you don't want that you need to Oracle Home Selector utility in the Installer to change it.

  • Nagios windows and Oracle environment

    Dear Soumitra,
The only requirement of running Nagios is a machine running Linux (or UNIX variant) and a C compiler. You will probably also want to have TCP/IP configured, as most service checks will be performed over the network.
You can download that suggested plug-in. Extract it and read the Documentation available within that bundle.

  • I have the new Oracle 8i installer and here is why

I have been trying to get Oracle 8i on Linux and I feel that I
    must share
my thoughts on the new Oracle installer with everybody.
I hate the new installer. I used to run the installer from
    home over my
128Kbps connection while I was connected to the office machines,
    because it
was simple text based. And Oracle 8i has changed all that!
I have nothing against GUI based installers, only when they have
    a little too
many animated images that eat up bandwidth. I had to drive all
    the way to
the office because I did not have sufficient bandwidth to display
    the darn
ringing bell animated image. This is strictly the mentality of
    Windows users
who like to work on the console of servers.
    And check this out:
line 118 in my install log file at :
    /usr/local/oracle/u01/app/oracle/oraInventory/logs/installActions.log
    says :
    platGroup = WINDOWS
And this is on Linux!!! Maybe the Oracle folks are forgetting
    that Linux
users are a little too sensitive to these kind of mistakes. :)
This also supports my theory that the new installer is a gift
    from Windows
programmers. Who are not too familiar with the idea of being
    able to send
their video display to any computer around the world and work
    from there.
A feature every Linux user takes for granted
There are numerous other bugs in the installer and other routines
    of Oracle
8i for Linux. Some of them I will list here:
    2. The installation types screen list 3 options:
    Typical, Minimal and Custom.
Somehow Minimal takes more disk space (642 MB) compared to
    Typical (585 MB).
Well that is what the installation screen says. I have not tried
    to install
    using the minimal install.
    3. The installation cant figure out how much free space is
    available on the /
partition. Is it that hard? Its gives warnings about how I may
    not have
    enough space.
    4. dbassist cant find the cdrom if you try to install the default
    database
from CDROM. It says cannot find CDROM even if you have all your
    stuff under
    /mnt/cdrom
    5. The docs talk about software mount points and data mount
    points /u01 /u02
/u03 and /u04 that I created, but I could not find anywhere to
    specify them
like I was able to, with the last release.
    6. "Oracle Protocol Support" section during the install shows no
    options at
all. What happened to good ole Net8?
And many others. This product is a joke.

My sentiments exactly. There are so many bugs in the
installation of this release that I have just about given up.
And I haven't even started testing the new features yet!
I've tried the install on RedHat 6.0 straight out of the box (no
patches or updates applied) and followed the OIG and release
notes to the letter. Clearly, no one at Oracle did the same,
because there are many problems during install. I finally got a
simple database running, but there are some real gotcha's along
    the way.
Here are just a few of the bugs I've encountered:
    1. Zero length library file $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libnjni8.so.
Netasst doesn't work without it. Someone said they posted the
source code to the comp.databases.oracle.server newsgroup, but I
    can't find it.
    2. Database Creation Assistant thinks dbmssql.sql is called
    dbmssml.sql.
    3. Building the Intelligent Agent with TCL 7.5 causes a cascade
of undefined references when running gmake -f ins_oemagent.mk
    agent
    4. Database Creation Assistant doesn't understand OFA. It wants
to put all of the database files /u01/app/oracle/oradata/<sid> !
    5. Database Creation Assistant will sometimes prevent editing
the data file names to put them in OFA compliant directories.
I am appreciative of the free developer licenses for so many
Oracle products, but this is the worst Oracle install I've had
    in 12 years.
