Organization of Models in ESR via SWCV

Dear Experts,
I am trying to understand what is the best approach to organize our design objects in ESR. My current strategy up to now consists in having 3 different Software Component (SWC)/Products  one for Sender, one for PI objects (mapping..) , Receiver) (interface objects). Now i try to integrate in concept the models. I decided to use Process Component Model (PCM) as the Process Interaction Model as I can generate out of this the interface objects.
But now I have a problem with my concept. I have added the PCM for the sender in the corresponding SWC. Now I want to make a reference to the PCM of the receiver to model a sync interface i can not assign the objects from the receiver as the objects are in another SWC.
I also can not put every model in the same SWC because then the assignments (creation of objects) are all made in the same SWC.
Now I am not sure if the concept is wrong or if there is another solution to integrate the models into the concepts?
Thanks in advance,
Best Regards,
Karsten

Hi all,
the approach works, even with some restrictions.
So I created SWCV A and defined dependencies in ESR to SWCV B + C. A contains common objects (mapping.. models), B+C sender and receiver specific components.
When you create the model you can create the service interface in the underlying SWCV. But if you want then create the operation you must first activate the service interface to be able to create the operation out of the model. And activation is not possible as, when you create the Service Interface you already has a faked operation created which you normaly delete when you create the real operation, but you can not activate the service interface as the faked operation does not contain any message type. So as a workaround you have to assign a faked message type to the faked operation -> aktivate the service interface and then you are able to create the real operation in the service interface.
I am not 100% sure if that is really wanted or I still have choosen an approach which works but which is not really Best Practice... anyway if there are no further coments i thing i will go for it.
Another doubt arose during configuration of the prototype: What is the diference if i define the Software Dependencies in the ESR or in the SLD? I checked for documentation but only found explanaitions in the online help about how to create the dependency in the SLD. For me it is more comftable to create the dependency in the ESR. Is there any impact (transport...)?
Thanks.

Karsten

  • "Component Assignment Incomplete" while Apply Model from ESR

    Hi all,
I am trying to configure a scenario by using Model Configurator with Tools->Apply Model from ESR.
My Process integration scenaro is : PAYE_EOY_GB which belongs to the swcv "E-FILING GB 1.0" whose content imported from ESR content available on sap marketplace.
I am trying to configure the scenaro.
The sender is a Business System "Sys_MyECC" which represents SAP ECC.
The reciever is UK govt gateway.. for which i created a party with the name "GovernmentGateway" and a Communication Component "GG_submission" within the party.
When i am in the model configurator, in the step 2 Assign Components, when i am selecting the sender Component as Sys_MyECC,  it is giving the popup message:
    Component Assignment Incomplete :
Each business component must be assigned a business system component. Incomplete assignments exist; these can be removed automatically.
What does this message is trying to convey.
    thanks in advance,
    Madhu_1980.

Besides having a Business System, you need a Business system Service to have a B2B communication
I did not get what exaclty the Business system Service means.
for the sender, we have SAP ECC, the scenario will be triggered using sproxy communication.
so, we created a Business System representing the ECC server.
the "Bysiness system service" means.. does it also represent ECC server, in pi 7.1, if we create Business Component, how we can link the Business Component with the Business system.

  • Process Modeling in ESR vs. ccBPM( Integration Scenario & Process )?

    Hi...
I'm very confusing this two type of solution in ESR.
When should we use the modeling like Integration Scenario Model, Process Component Model and Process Component Interaction Model?
    and
When should we use ccBPM like Integration Scenarios & Integration Processes?
What's the differences between Modeling & ccBPM in ESR?
    Thank you.

One needs to go for ccBPM when you have a business logic to implement in PI or you have to communicate with multiple systems sequentially or simultaneously from with in XI.
(In my words..)Integration scenario is nothing but a graphical depiction of the entire integration scenario. It is not a compulsion but good to have. By looking at it one can understand which systems are participating and what are the sequence of actions being executed among them and the type of communication they are using. Also I am not sure but, a properly designed Integration Scenario can imported in to Directory to create the ID configuration objects in  wizard like mode.

  • Using Simulink models with CompactRIO via SIT

    Hi there,
I am looking to use compactRIO for a Rapid Control Prototypig application and am wondering whether Simulink models can be used (via the Simulation Interface Toolkit) and deployed to CompactRIO. (I know that it is possible with PXI). Also, any ideas on ther expected performance?

    Hi, RichM,
Yes, you can use SIT to create and download DLLs that come from Simulink models. Basically, the CompactRIO controller is like another RT controller, so it will be done exactly the same as in PXI. The only thing different in cRIO is that the model VIs that get scripted from SIT to do data acquisition are using Traditional DAQ VIs, so you will have to manually modify those VIs so they interface with the FPGA backplane using the Read/Write Control function. For information on how to modify the VIs, you can probably look at the following tutorial: Using CAN with the LabVIEW Simulation Interface Toolkit. This tutorial is for NI-CAN, but you can just abstract from it and use the same concepts with the Read/Write Control function.
How fast are you planning on executing? Just remember that the cRIO controllers and PXI do not have the same type of processor. Depending on the method you follow to read the information from the FPGA (either polling or by interrupts), you will get different performance. I will still recommend you go with interrupts.
I hope this helps. Let me know!

  • ESR modeling and Aris

    Hi,
In our origination we are using Aris for the modelling of business processes. From what I am lead to believe is that Aris integrates with SAP Solution Manager and Solution manager integrates with the SLD. So landscape, software products and software component information can thus be pulled into Aris for use in models. This will greatly assist in the business process modelling in Aris, I would imagine.
Now once the business process is modelled in Aris, is there a way of importing it, as say a Procomp Model in the ESR?
    Would you want to?
Or would you just continue to model in Aris and then pull in the interface logic into the models on the Aris side?
What is then the use of the modelling tool in the ESR?
Would you recommend that one should remodel the Aris Business Process Models in to the Modeling tool in ESR?
As you can see I am looking for some guidance in this regard.
    Many Thanks
    Willie Hugo

    Hi,
The use of Modeling in ESR point of view
is In a service-oriented architecture of business applications, you ideally initially model your application prior to implementation. This means that you can answer fundamental questions such as what components the application comprises of, which services the individual components offer, and how the various different components interact with each other before you begin implementation. A governance process ensures that by using models, all services are always identified and defined in the same way, thus avoiding redundancies.
The models are not system-landscape-specific. Later on, they provide useful information when implementing services, as well as during any configuration that may be required. Furthermore, the models document different aspects of a business process, increase understanding of applications across departments and businesses thereby reducing costs when applications need to be changed or enhanced in a later release.
SAP they integrated ARIS modeling tool to develop Models, but i dont think so its possible to import ARIS models in SAP NetWeaver PI.But whatever models we developing in PI is based ARIS modeling only.
SAP works with this environment to create models for applications in the SAP Business Suite. These models are shipped to customers. You can create your own models in the ES Repository.

  • Model Organization

PD provides at least below 2 ways to organize the Logical or Physical Model, namely use of Diagrams and Packages.
I have been using packages within a model to organize my models into subject area that allows me isolate each functionality and also manage it for working in a group and also print a model in subject area. I then use the default Diagram of the model file as the place to organize the Entity/Table at a summary level and all these are shortcut to Entity/Table.
The challenge with this is that I have to keep updating the summary models made of shortcuts as i make changes to model and new Entity/Table are added. The good part is that I just have to make changes to the Entity/Table once in the model and all the Shortcuts reflact the updates. I can also list all Entity/Tables in the Menu|Model option and this lists out all the objects and the property 'Object Type' can distinguish if the entity is origianl or a short cut and visually the entity Icon has a little shortcut symbol at the botom left corner, this way I know when i am dealing with a shortcut.
However, I think Diagrams can help me NOT constantly updating the packages and the summary view and still organize the model into Diagrams as subject areas and only deal with selected objects in each of them. but the challenge is to visually and in a listing be able to distinguish them.
Does any body have any idea as to how to handle this scenario?
    I am using PD 16.5.0.4057 EBF3

  • Modeling ProComp in ESR

    Hi,
I am new to modeling in ESR and would like to ask a basic question. When I am building a ProComp model, I select a Business Object and subsequently click on the "Operation" icon to model a service operation. At this time, two options appear.
    They are:
    1. "<BO> uses/is realized by Operation"
    2. "Operation uses/is realized by <BO>"
I notice that if option 1 is chosen, the arrow is pointed to Operation and the opposite if option 2 is chosen. But what is the difference? This rather simple question bothers me because both options are used in the tutorials I have but without further explanation and I could not find any information about that in Internet or books too.
Hope that somebody could clarify this.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Naming service as Inbound and outbound is different from different perspective. In SAP SOA and Middleware, outbound service used as consumer (proxy) and inbound as provider.
Take following example for clear understanding:
Application A is sending some information to Application B (do not think as service at this moment).
    Case1:
From perspective of A: information is outbound as it is going out.
From perspective of B: information is inbound as it is coming in.
    Case2:
If I am using any middleware X and information is going from A to X to B then.
From perspective of X information coming from A is inbound and information is goint to B is outbound (This is used by most middleware such as Tibco etc to describe flow but NOT by SAP).
    Case3:
If X is PI system then SAP perspective prefer to use application perspective then middleware perspective thats why information coming to X will be considered outbound (Not inbound) and information going to B will be considered as Inbound (Not outbound)
Conslusion: Inbound and Oubound is considered from application perspective, so:
Inbound service: information always first comes to application and then based on usage response is send (or not send) (ABAP Service).
Outbound service: Informa always go out from application and may be response will come based on usage (ABAP Proxies.)
I hope it is clear from above examples.
    >Does this mean that the inbound service interface modeled in ESR is for the provider proxy generation whereas outbound for client proxy?
    Yes.

I am experiencing a problem while executing a bounded model. I am usingQueryModelBase. Whenever the following query gets executed inonBeforeModel
execute of TiledView, it throws an exception describing "PLAN_DT not found
in ResultSet". If you execute this query on the SQL prompt then we getrows
of data. Please could you tell us how the mapping between model and
resultset works ? And what changes do we have to make to execute thisquery.
    >>
    SELECT PART_NM,NEWTXTDOLL
    TO_CHAR(PLAN_DT, 'MM/DD/YYYY'),
    FROM cpsselect
WHERE CHG_DT >= TO_DATE('2001-06-17', 'YYYY-MM-DD')The mapping of result set to model is done via JDBC, using the columnnames
you provide in your model's column descriptors. It sounds as if you are
providing the column name "PLAN_DT" in a descriptor, and when the model
tries to look up that column in the result set, there is no such columnand
    the operation fails.
In order to debug this, you should try running your query with a JDBC
connection, not SQL*Plus or your command-line SQL tool. What you need to
find out is how the expresion "TO_CHAR(PLAN_DT, 'MM/DD/YYYY')" is aliasedas
a column name in the resut set. The easiest way to do this is to write a
simple class that does nothing but use your JDBC driver to connect the
database and execute this query. After execution, use theResultSetMetaData
information to find out the column names for the result set. Then, use
these column names in your JATO column descriptors.
Another Problem:We are not getting the values for NEWTXTDOLL column whenwe try to display it in a Tiled View.
I'm sorry, this isn't enough information for me to offer any suggestions.
Using the technique above, determine which columns are coming back in the
result set, and make sure your display fields in the TiledView are boundto
those column names. The problem could be something as simple as a typo in
the field's bound name, or something more complex like the column in the
result set being named something you don't expect.
Another approach might be to alias the columns yourself using the "AS
<alias>" expression, and assign them names that you choose instead ofusing
the names assigned by the database or JDBC driver.

  • Some Ideas On Organizing/Maintaining Photos via iPhoto? How do YOU do it?

I posted a couple of technical questions last week concerning iPhoto and how it handles files, thumbnails, EXIF data, and photo originals/copies (as http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11425805). Terence Devlin and LarryHN gave me the answers I needed. From their answers, I now have an understanding of the default method iPhoto utilizes to manage and maintain photo libraries.
Those answers have led me to a couple more questions, mostly regarding how I can best organize and maintain my photos via iPhoto within a multiple Operating System household. My massive music collection is easy... I manually maintain and organize my music files via iTunes. I can download music and fix tags in XP or OSX. I store the results on my Windows-based file server and share the iTunes library. On my MacBookPro, I have an iTunes Library that references the directories on the server. Or, I can just access the "shared" iTunes library. Same with my Ubuntu machine (with some anomalies.) Both Windows and OSX have versions of iTunes. Not so with iPhoto.
So, by default, importing my photos into iPhoto will make "copies" as well as a proprietary database containing the EXIF changes I make within iPhoto. I don't see that as the best scenario for me.
What would YOU suggest? How about storing my photos on my file server and pointing iPhoto to the location in "Referenced Mode?" This seems to be similar to how I manage my music. Yes, I know that if I change a filename or path that the library will loose track of it. I deal with this in iTunes. Occasionally, If I make a bunch of changes, I just delete my iTunes library and re-load. But that's the beauty of iTunes... if I change MP3 tag data using iTunes, the changes are made within the MP3 file itself. So if I loose the library, who cares?
I was hoping to use iPhoto in a similar way: Make changes (places, faces, etc) and have iPhoto save the data within the EXIF fields of the photo itself. That way if I move the photo around, or restore from a backup, ot loose the iPhoto library, so be it!
Unlike iTunes, it sounds like if I loose my iPhoto library, I loose all my metadata as well (unless I "export" the photo from within iPhoto?) PLUS I need to maintain the original photos and the iPhoto copies... unless I use Referenced Mode.
How about some organizational ideas/inspiration/guidance? Help me tidy up my sloppy photo collection.

    Key points
1 - iPhoto has NO cross platform capabilities
2 - iPhoto is not well oriented to managing referenced libraries

You have to maintain both in either a referenced or managed library - but in an referenced library the originals are your responsibility to maintain and to keep the path constant

Probably iPhoto is not the correct solution for your needs

  • ES bundles usage (with/without ESR)

    Hello Experts,
I am currently working in a landscape comprising of ECC 6.0 EHP4 and APO systems. We do not have SAP PI installation.
I wanted to know the right way forward to get SOA enablement.
I understand that Service enablement is two fold (Please correct me if I am wrong):
    1) 'Inside out' (from FMs) for which the WS runtime engine of the AS is sufficient. The services thus generated can be consumed directly from other SAP systems (within our landscape only??) or from a frontend app which can conume services (probably a widget developed in .NET with a cool UI).
    2) 'Outside In' where services are modeled in PI/ OR standard SAP services (ES bundles) can be used.
My question , more precisely, is if we need SAP NW PI to use these ES bundles from the service marketplace.
If No, then how can it be done?????
If yes, then do the Business objects to which these services are related to also provided along with this content??? And do these business objects correspond the the ones whihc are available in the Business Object Repository in the backend???
Is there any other alternative to getting SOA enabled without actually having to instal SAP Nwtweaver PI??
I am really looking forward to some interesting answers from the experts on this forum.
Thank you well in advance. Regards,
    Amith

    >when you said that the landscape should be opened for external connectivity, what did you mean???
It is in response to your remark that you can consume service within your landscape, by this statement I meant that external consumer (means outside your landscape) can also use your services provided your system is available on internet or port for external connectivity is opened (ignore this if your requirement is only A2A communication within your landscape).
    >Secondly, do the Enterprise services from ES bundles, that as you mentioned are already in my ECC system, have an implementation already? If yes then can I modify the implementation class to suit my requirements?
Since they will be standard service (although referencing exisiting BAPIs) you probably won't able to modify them directly, better do it by writing user-exit or wrapper BAPI.
    >I looked in SPROXY (ES Browser) and found a few services but they are not the ones from the ES bundles I think OR are they??. Can you please let me know under which grouping in SICF would I find these services? If not SICF then under which package in SE80 would I find them?
You need to activate service in order to view them in sproxy (if sproxy is connected to external system like PI then you will be able to see services which is only available in PI).
In SICF browse sap->bc->srt->xip->sap to see services name of service will be something like ECC_xxxxxx
If no service available here then you need to download services from SMP (contact your basis team).
In SE80 goto "Repository Information System" chose Enterprise Services->service definition and search for all services, you will the list of all services in your system.
    >I want to know about the business objects that these services correspond to in the model (in ESR). For ex, if I consider CreateSalesOrder_In service, would it update the relevant Sales Order tables (VBAK, VBAP etc) in the backend? Are these business objects related to the Business Objects found in the BAPI transaction?
I can't tell you which BO update which table but they use existing SAP functionality so for enduser the endresult is same.
    Hope this answers your queries.

  • Creating a Configuration Scenario from Process Component Interaction Model

    Dear All,
I created a very simple SAP Pro Comp Interaction Model in ESR.
It has two Process Components (PC1, PC2) with a Service Interface (SI1,SI2)
    and Operation (OP1,OP2) each.
There is one message (MT1) flowing between these two Process Components.
I have created and activated all ESR objects.
Now I try to configure the same in ID.
But I get an error in Model Configurator saying
"Process component PC1 does not contain a reference to a process component from the Enterprise Services Repository"
"Process component PC2 does not contain a reference to a process component from the Enterprise Services Repository"
The first step of the Configurator ie. Select Model says "Not Configurable"
What could the issue be? Has anyone configured a Pro Comp Interaction Model successfully?
I am able to configure the SAP delivered Models perfectly well. Just an issue with custom models.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ashwin

Did you ever resolve this issue?  I am facing exactly the same issue and have the same question.

  • Not able to consume any service out of ESR or Service Registry

    Hello Guys,
I have installed trial version of SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 EHP 1^with ESR. I have also install Visual Composer. I want to make some exercises to make my concept clear but I am not able to find any service from the Find option in the VC. I have also tried to consume any service in Webdynpro project and trying to create model from ESR or Service Registry but It does not connect to ESR.
    Your recommendations are welcome.

    Hi Manohar,
Can you please explain something in more detail????
Because I have already configured ESR and SR accoding to installation manual and I have also seen the webminar of installation of SAP NW CE 7.1 with ESR line is here
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/elearn?rid=/library/uuid/704fe668-2cf4-2a10-a38c-8604e4989d49&overridelayout=true
One thing I am not sure about is, when I go to configure initial setup by using configuration wizard. There is one error (file missing on importing XI content) when I am going to execture "Configuration of ESR in CE" task from the task list in the configuration wizard. I think becasue of that I am not able to consume services in VC and webdynpro projects!!!
    What do you say???
If also think the same then can I install some how missing xi content to ESR??? I have seen on service market place when I go to ESR - component list.
Or you recommend me to install PI/XI on my server then this missing component should be installed automatically???

Org, structure defn can be different for different industries, but in general it can be defined as mentioned below.
    Org. Structure is:
You use the organizational structure to represent and process
disciplinary assignments, remuneration flows and statistical aggregations.
As asked by you 1 example for this is:
In an insurance company, the organizational structure models the
hierarchical picture of an organization (generally sales and distribution), in particular for
    the derivation of overriding commissions.
One more definition for Org. Structure which can throw more light in understanding this is:
"A hierarchy in which the organizational units in an enterprise are arranged according to tasks and functions.
The organizational structure differs from the administrative enterprise or personnel structure, whose
structural elements are relevant to payroll accounting and accounting."
Please mark thread as answered if you get satisfactory answer.
    Thanks,
    Abhishek

  • Configuration error ESR and ARIS 7.1

    Hello,
I'm verifying Enterprise Modeling, integrating ESR.
I've got a license key for ESR integration extension and able to find ESR logon function.
But in ESR logon procedure, I have a problem and I cannot complete logon.
After I entered user/password and successfully logged on to ESR Server,
Filter and Language selection screen came up without any filter to select. So we can not go to next step.
    Do you have any advice?
    Regards,
    Mari

    Hi,
I met the same error and I solved it... you've just to load in your ESR environnement the lastest version of SC SAP BASIS 7.11 and attach to your profil the unrestricted view.
Don't hesitate to contact me directly if you need,
    David
