Organizer database is damaged in acrobat 9 Std

I just installed acrobat 9 standard.
When I open a PDF the program works fine, including editing fields etc.
When i close any PDF this error message comes up.
The Organizer database is damaged and will be reset the next time Acrobat is launched. Quit the application and close any currently opened web browsers
I am not sure what the organizer database is, but I see others have had this problem in other versions of this program.
What is the Organizer database? Any help would be appreciated
I tried to repair installation under help and it did not help.

Hello everyone!
I think I just fixed the problem in Acrobat 9.  I have the pro version and vista business 64bit.
I navigated to C:\Users\[YOUR NAME HERE]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0
I noticed that there was no organizer file or folder inside that folder.  However, I noticed that the two files, Usercache.bin and SharedDataevents were updated at the same time that my acrobat had reported the Organizer database error.
So, in an attempt to logically discern where the problem was coming from, I decided to drag these files to my desktop.  My understanding was that when Acrobat looked for and attempted to access these files, they would not be found.  Additionally, by saving the files, I could (theoretically) easily return them to their proper location if some horrible error occured.
As I theorized, these two files were recreated upon opening Acrobat.  Since I deleted (moved) the files and Acrobat rebuilt them I have not had any trouble.
I believe that what Acrobat does is APPEND the files if they are found in the folder, and if they are not found, it recreates them from a standard template.  I believe the UserCache file probably has the acrobat preferences inside, including the various standard fonts and icc profiles used for printing preferences.
(ICC profiles are pretty neato IMHO and very useful for ensuring WYSIWYG document viewing and printing on various different monitors and printers.  Very good for prepress color constantcy and for reducing the "delta E" of your printshop.)
Anyhoo, because I don't ever use the organizer feature in acrobat, I am unaware of whether the recreation of these files deletes any info with regards to the organizer.  Perhaps special features are reset, but I don't know.  Perhaps someone who uses this feature will report their findings.
The important thing for me is that the VERY annoying message IS gone.
I will be sure to update this link ASAP if the problem reoccurs. I usually create 40-100 pdf files per day for work from web and print sources, so if it reoccurs I imagine it will do so fairly soon.
Hopefully this will help those with Acrobat 9.0 standard as well.
I would do the same thing for Mac using the location given earlier in the thread.  Just move the files or put them on a flash drive so you can restore them if things go south.  If I remember from my Mac days, the OS is pretty user friendly and the fix may be easier than the one for Vista.
Good luck, all and happy Acrobatting!

  • Acrobat 9 installed on Windows 8.1; upon Save, error every time: "The Organizer Database is damaged and will be reset..."; no "Organizer90" file found (to be deleted, as www suggests for solution with XP, VIsta, 7)

I've installed my old faithful Acrobat 9 Pro on my new Windows 8.1 computer. The program works, but every time I save the document, it tells me "The Organizer Database is damaged and will be reset. Quit the program and close all browsers." (Something close to that text.) I've entered the error online, and a solution does appear for XP, Vista, and Windows 7. It tells me to have Windows Explorer show hidden files, and then look for "Organizer90" within Users/[me]/AppData/LocalLow/Adobe/Acrobat/9.0, and then delete that file -- which will make Acrobat generate a new one. But there is no such file there. Please help with alternate solution. NOTE: When I "Check for Updates" in Acrobat, I'm told that there are no updates available at this time, but also told: "Please note that some updates for the following products cannot be determined at this time: Adobe Updater." Seems like things are out of whack.

Thanks for help. Difficulties continue: When trying to install 9.5.5, I'm told it can't install because the program may not be on my computer, or may be the wrong version. I'm told to check that the program exists. The installed version (9.0) is totally legit, my serial numbers, etc., I've used it for many years. Automatic update seems to be on, but I downloaded Adobe Updater to be sure. Seemed to make no difference. Program does function, but not perfectly. Under "About," it calls itself 9.0, so it would not seem that auto update is taking place. Acrobat on previous machine (Windows Vista) indeed calls itself 9.5.5. (It was installed with same 9.0 package, and presumably updated itself to 9.5.5 over the years.) So summary of current problem: Acrobat 9.0 won't upgrade to 9.5.5 on Windows 8.1.

You must be using an old version of Acrobat as Organizer hasn't been in the last two versions of Acrobat.  Here is the KB that covers that old error:  Error "The Organizer Database is damaged and will be reset..." | Acrobat 9

  • Organizer database is damaged

Recently I started getting a MS Visual C++Runtime Library Error message at start-up.  Consequently Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 started giving me an Organizer database is damaged message that will reset the next time Acrobat is launched.  Is this harmful to my computer and how can I fix it?

Here is an Adobe file about the problem for AA9:

Don't know if the link will help, but it is what I found.
    Another useful page might be:

As to the actual location, I have no clue. I would suggest starting a search of the whole harddrive and go to bed for the night.

  • Acrobat 8 Pro -Organizer Database Damaged

I am running Windows XP. I just started doing tutorials to learn this program. I was really impressed with what the Organizer could do, but suddenly it stopped working and I am receiving the following message: "The Organizer Database is damaged and will be reset the next time Acrobat is launched. Quit the application and close any currently opened web browsers".
When I relaunch the program (with my browser closed) I still get the same message. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I haven't a clue as to what I should do to cure this problem.Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have been running Adobe Acrobat 8 with Windows XP for several months.  Yesterday, for the first time, I received the error message:  "The Organizer database is damaged and will be reset the next time Acrobat is launched.  Quit  the application and close any currently opened web browsers."  I did as requested, but still received the same error message.  I logged on this morning and still received the same error message.  I came to this forum hoping to see a blurb or tow, but I don't see where William's initial post was resolved.  Is there anyone who can assist?  Thanks.

  • Damaged Organizer Database --- Pro 9.0

I have just moved my Acrobat Pro 9.0 to a new computer with Win 8.1, 64bit.  Every time I try to print to Adobe PDF, I get the error message, "The Organizer database is damaged and will be reset the next time Acrobat is launched.  Quit the application and close any currently opened web browsers."  Is this a issue with pro 9 vs Win 8.1, or is there a step or three I can take to correct the issue?
    Thanks in advance.

Leave the C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\LocalLow\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0. while it is open, open a .pdf file, save as (same name) you will get that error message, disregard it. if you now look at your Users file you will see the organizer90 file that was created. Copy that file to your desktop. Now close Acrobat and you will see the organizer90 file disappear. Once it does, move the one from your desktop into the Users file.
So far it has worked for me, no more Damaged Database message.
    Hope this helps everyone!

  • Damaged Organizer database error

I have moved my copy of Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0 to a new computer with Win 8.1 x64.  Whenever I print a document to Acrobat, I get the error message, "The Organizer Database is damaged and will be reset the next time Acrobat is launched.  Quit the application and close any currently opened web browsers."
What might be causing this, and how can I correct it?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi beckinista,
I've moved this thread to the Acrobat forum, since you landed in the Acrobat.com forum. \
However, I think the following document will help you resolve this error: Error "The Organizer Database is damaged and will be reset..." | Acrobat 9
Please let us know how it goes.

  • The organizer databace is damaged

I spent about an hour chatting with someone from tech support trying to work this problem, then we lost our connection or I took to long trying to respond to directions, I'm not sure what happened.  I can tell you I am not impressed with attempting to correct an issue I am not familiar with thus far.  I have not had this problem until recently.
Each time I open a PDF file; make changes, develop or just review it, then close the document there a "no response" messages followed by a window which states: "The organizer database is damaged and will be reset the next time Acrobat  is launched.  Quite the application and close any currently opened web browsers".  But nothing happens and the same messages appears each time I attempt to use Acrobat and close a pdf document.

The Organizer and Organizer-related commands are not availble in Acrobat X or XI.
The last availability was with Acrobat 9.
The Acrobat 9.x product family passed into End of Support in mid-year of 2013.
As I recall the update to 9.2 made Acrobat 9 ok to use in Windows 7.
However, no updates to the Acrobat 9.x product family make it compatible in Windows 8 or 8.1.
Similar issues are there for the Mac OSs.

  • Organizer data base is damaged in acrobat 9 standard

I have tried to "repair" and reinstall my Adobe Acrobat 9 standard version to correct my organizer data base damage issue.  I have deleted and replace the organizer90 file as suggested in previous discussions to no avail.  I have created a txt version and removed the .txt to the folder making it blank also.  Nothing has fixed this issue.  I have had this product for years without many issues.  This is the first time it appears to be unresolvable.
Do you have any suggestions beyond what I have discussed.  As an example is there a specific order of action items to make the repairs.  It is perplexing that a full uninstall and then a full reinstall has not solved the issue.  I am only an occasional user so this product suits my needs and demands regarding pdf files. posted 070514 Scott

you must not be removing the correct file.  double check that you're deleting from the correct directory.
also, after restarting your computer, before launching acrobat, make sure that organizer90 is not present.  then launch acrobat and check that it re-creates the organizer90 file.
and, if that fails, you could try holding down shift-ctrl-alt while starting acrobat.  if done correctly you'll see a confirmation dialog about resetting your preferences.

  • CS2 Database file - Damaged Error, program shuts down

32mb InDesign file with 50 pages of text and hi-res color images. Just after saving and trying to scroll to another page, images were grayed out and an error message came up stating the database was damaged and InDesign was shutting down.
Reopened InDesign and same error. Restarted the Mac, opened the file and the program rebuilt the file, seems to be OK. I have 3.5mb of memory with InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Word, Excel, Acrobat and Safari all open. MAC OS 10.4.11
Any clues on what might be causing this problem??

This is the window I received.
edit* looks like pics don't work here
What is it supposed to do and how do I un-install it.....have removed all traces of JAVA & downloaded fresh, still nothing
    Any ideas?

  • Can't find download for Acrobat 9 STD--the Acrobat 9 download is for PRO, and my serial number not valid for PRO.

I'm switching to a new laptop, and I want to bring my Acrobat 9 STD with me. Deactivated it on the old laptop, went to the download page for Acrobat 9 and downloaded it, got to the part in the installation where I entered my serial number, and the installation wizard said it was invalid. That's when I noticed the download was for Acrobat 9 PRO, not STD. I used the support chat and explained it to the support person, and he gave me a link for the 9 STD download. Unfortunately, it was the same page. I downloaded it again. Still 9 PRO. Anyone else have any ideas where they're hiding the Acrobat 9 STD download?

Finding the file all depends on how you did the install and if you downloaded the install file. If the install file was downloaded to the TEMP folder, there is a slight chance it may still be there (should be in Windows>TEMP, not sure on MAC). It may have a name similar to the Pro download of AcroPro90_efg.exe. The Pro would be change to Std and I am not sure what the efg stands for. I would search for AcroStd9*.exe. There seems to be a download for AA 9 std available at http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-acrobat-x-10-pro-reader-suite-direct-download-links-ddl.ht ml. I have no idea if that works. I had found one place where a staff member said he is working on getting links up for all the older versions, not just the trials (that are Pro). I simply searched on Google for Acrobat 9 Standard files. I can't find the message by the staff, but there is one in the last week or two as I recall where a staff member was providing links for folks on an individual basis.

  • Multiple shortcut toolbars in Adobe Acrobat x std

I'm looking for a way to have multiple shortcut toolbar lines in Adobe Acrobat X std.  I don't like the drop down tool bar that is present.  I use multiple addins in my toolbar and I want to see them all up in the toolbar for easy use.  Is there a way to add multiple lines of toolbars instead of having the drop down overflow box?

You'll want to ask in the forum for Acrobat. This one is for the free Reader which cannot do any of this.
But to get you started, you can use Document>Extract pages to create a new file of the modified pages...

  • Have Acrobat XI Std, installation of Acrobat XI Pro fails, version incompatibility

Running Windows 7 Pro on work Thinkpad.
Trial version of Acrobat XI Pro as of Dec 4, 2014 is 11.0.07
Licensed version of installed Acrobat XI Std is 11.0.09
Installer downloads, but when the splash panel displays and I press Next, I get the message that a more functional version is available and it bails.
Obvious why the error occurred. Makes me wonder if Pro features are hidden inside Std, the way IBM used to take the DP Manager out to lunch while the CE flipped a switch for more MIPS upgrade. ;-)
I simply want to check out the multi-media features before committing to upgrade.
Will try using another computer, thought you would like to know about the problem.

Sadly you cannot run Acrobat Standard and Acrobat Pro at the same time. The message is rather the wrong way round but basically a hint in the right direction.
You would need to uninstall Acrobat Standard. Be sure you have EVERYTHING you need to reinstall including disks and serial numbers before considering this!
