OS X Clients won't bind to 10.7.3 Server. Error 2100

I have a Server running 10.7.3, my clients also 10.7.3 will not bind to the OD. It returns the error 2100. I did some reasearch and apparently this issue is to do with having an SSL on the OD, but I don't have an SSL running on it. Does anyone know the fix for this or is any one else having this issue? Any help appreciated.

I too tried to down load Lion! twice, but my iMac would not accept the down load. I went to the Woodlands Tx Apple store where Manager Luke supplied me with a thumb drive. This is where the real fun started. I loaded Lion from the Thumb drive which took 6 hours, and then the iMac would not connect to the internet, or run any applications more than once without being re-booted. So I figured I needed to run update to download any patches, This created even more fun. After having the machine run over night down loading available patches (4) they were still not complete. I took the iMac to the Apple store, I spent 2.5 hours watching the techs confirm what I had already explained. The techs found no problems with hardware. So their big fix was to format the hard drive and install Lion. They did this and attempted to reload my added apps and data back. All the techs at the Apple store were great, But Apple quality is no different than any other computer company yet they charge 3 times more. All this started because of a "simple" switch from Mobilme to iCloud. This is a very expensive "free" "upgrade". My suggestion is that if you absolutely have to have icloud, wait until the last minute, take your machine to an Apple store for installation. Also be prepared to lose use of Quicken, and most other aftermarket apps, plus any virus software you have. What makes it even worse is I just received a receipt for purchasing Lion as a down load when it never worked and I had to get a thumb drive version from the Apple store.
Do not attempt this conversion on your own and still be prepared to waste a couple days getting your machine back to being productive.

  • OS X Server 10.9.x Client will not bind to LDAP/OD Server 10.9.x

I've done multiple server updates, installs etc. with no luck.
I cannot get OS X Maverick 10.9.x clients to bind to a OS X Server Maverick 10.9.x Open Directory LDAP. I've tried clients & server installs of 10.9.1 , .2, & .3 with no luck. When I go to bind I get the mesage seen below. I know it's connecting because if I pruposly put in a wrong password for the "diradmin" user it tells me that credentials are wrong. If I put in the correct password I get this message.
The funny thing is that I still have setup two test servers with 10.7 & 10.8 server and clients of all version bind like they should. The issue is only with Mavericks Server 10.9.x
With searching around in Apple Disscussions I've seen articles that talk about changing DNS to the Mac Server which has not helped me plus we have DNS server in our network already so I do not wish to add more.
    Anyone else having this issue?
    Thank you!

Many Open Directory problems can be resolved by taking the following steps. Test after each one, and back up all data before making any changes.
    1. The OD master must have a static IP address on the local network, not a dynamic address.
    2. You must have a working DNS service, and the master's hostname must match its fully-qualified domain name. To confirm, select the server by name in the sidebar of the Server application window, then select the Overview tab. Click the Edit button on the Host Name line. On the Accessing your Server sheet, Domain Name should be selected. On the Accessing your Server sheet, change the Host Name, if necessary. The server must have at least a three-level name (e.g. "server.yourdomain.com"), and the name must not be in the ".local" top-level domain, which is reserved for Bonjour.
    3. The primary DNS server used by the master must be 127.0.0.1 (that is, itself) unless you're using another server for internal DNS. The only DNS server set on the clients should be the internal one, which they should get from DHCP if applicable.
    4. Follow these instructions to rebuild the Kerberos configuration on the master.
    5. If you use authenticated binding, check the validity of the master's certificate. The common name must match the hostname and domain name. Deselecting and then reselecting the certificate in Server.app has been reported to have an effect in some cases.
    6. Unbind and then rebind the clients in the Users & Groups preference pane. Use the fully-qualified domain name of the master.
    7. Reboot the master and the clients.
    8. Don't log in to the server with a network user's account.
    9. Export all OD users, delete them, turn off OD, turn it back on, and import. Ensure that the UID's are in the 1001+ range.

  • Old clients won't switch from Self-Signed Certs to PKI.

    Greetings.
I am wondering if anyone can give me advise on problem I am having with some of my sccm clients.
When I originally deployed SCCM i used self signed certs on clients.
We needed to add MAC and Linux support and MAC clients won't work without PKI, so I following this http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg682023.aspx to configure Certificate Authority.
It all seemed work well, I can now join MAC client with auto-enroll and all machines are requesting client certificates and I had couple of machine with new push on windows site installed with PKI.
So right now I have about 250 windows clients, only 22 of them use PKI and the rest keeps using self-signed certs.
I foolishly switched main site settings, MP settings and DP point settings to use https only.
As a result I lost all self-signed clients and have full log for mpcontrol saying that it's rejecting clients cause they certificate cannot be validated.
I logged in to couple of those machines and MMC i can see that it did enroll machine with valid Client Cert but Configuration Manager client itself still saying that it's using self signed one.
Am I missing a step that I need to do to make sure that all those clients switch to PKI?

It is. but how can i redeploy them?
I was under impression auto push won't reinstall them. If i do deployment - that seem to reuse existing configuration and still use self signed on old machines.
How can i verify that it does push clients to machine that already have it correctly and start using new config and not reuse old one.
I even tried removing clients from couple of machines and see if it gets pushed again on them with proper config and those machines don't seem to get client but used to get it fine before. I keep getting new machines being added to domain and they get client
pushed to them, but anything that had client with self signed doesn't seem to be happy.

  • Tiger client cannot bind to 10.6.8 server

When attempting to bind a 10.4.11 client to our 10.6.8 Open Directory server, the DirectoryService process on the client crashes and the bind fails. 10.5.x and 10.6.x clients have no trouble binding and every other element of ldap, kerberos, and password server appear to be working normally.
We're also noticing errors in slapd.log on the server for 10.4 clients that were previously bound, eg...
"SASL [conn=1637825] Failure: no user in database ed-12377" In these cases, the existing bind appears normal in WGM and the client machine is working as expected.
I'm not looking for suggestions as much as I'd like to see if anyone else is able to bind an ancient 10.4.11 (PPC) client to a 10.6.8 server. The answer to this question would simplify our troubleshooting path significantly. Of course, if you know exactly what's going on here, I'm all ears!

    Hi mcraig55,
Thanks for the response and suggestion!
I did review the security settings back when this started. After an OD rebuild (export, demote, promote, import) a few months ago, our standard security settings had not been restored. I tried to bind the 10.4 client with clear text allowed on both sides (server and client). Then, re-enabled the disabling of clear text passwords (what it should have been) and tried again with both sides set the same. In all cases I still get an error:
Unexpected error while binding - operation cancelled.
I also used this kb article (http://support.apple.com/kb/TA25124) to try SSL to see if the behavior would be different - no change.
Interestingly, the directory does show the client in the computer list. However, the Directory Access application doesn't "know" it's bound. Even more bizarre, the client is taking the preferences that were set for the workstation by Open Directory (eg. the message we display at the login window).
So, at this point, it seems to be 'working.' My speculation is that Directory Service crashes on the client before it can tell the Directory Access application that the client is bound.
    Funky stuff.
    Thanks!

  • Lync client won't connect to a conference via dial-in number hosted on deterrent pool than conference.

    I have been
troubleshooting a very strange issue with Lync clients being unable to connect
to a conference via dial-in number when the conference is hosted on a different
pool. This happens internally and there is no media gateway or SIP trunk
    involved.<o:p></o:p>
    Users are
unable to join a conference from Polycom CX phones and Lync 2013/2010 software clients
by dialling conference Dial-in number which is located on a different pool than
actual conference. Users are prompted to input their conference ID, however,
they are never connected to the conference (10 min silence followed by error
    announcement). <o:p></o:p>
    This only
happens if the dial-in number is homed on a different pool than conference.
Both pools are Lync 2013 Standard Edition running on Windows Server 2012.
Servers and clients are patched with the latest CU.<o:p></o:p>
    I noticed that
when you call dial-in number’s SIP address, user will get transferred to a
conference (works ok). When you dial just a number users is never transferred
and RT Audio traffic still goes directly to a server which is hosting dial-in
    number.<o:p></o:p>
    After
checking Lync traces it looks like Lync client ignores the REFER message from
the FE server hosting Dial-in number and it never send an INVITE to the server
    whit active conference.<o:p></o:p>
    The only difference
between INVITES for working calls and calls that failed to connect to the
conference is the presence of the user=phone in TO header:<o:p></o:p>
    Working
    invite:<o:p></o:p>

  • Server 4 on Mac clients won't manage Mavericks Servers

I've upgraded client Macs to Yosemite and had to upgrade SERVER to version 4.  I would like to wait a while before upgrading 2 Mavericks Servers to Yosemite Servers.  Unless I'm missing something, I can no longer use SERVER 4 to manage the 2 Mavericks Servers and I can not run Server 3 on Yosemite to manager the Mavericks servers.  So it seems to me that remote management of Mavericks servers is no longer possible unless you keep around a client Mac with Mavericks as the OS.  In the past, I believe, we could run Server on a Mac and remotely manage current and at lease 1 level older Servers, pretty much the expected way to migrate servers over time.
Now the only way to manager Mavericks Servers is to use Remote Desktop (or screen sharing) to the server and run SERVER on the server, itself.
This restriction seems to be a step backwards and violates all the best practices I'm familiar with in server migration.

This particular situation has happened with nearly all versions of OS X Server over the years; at least as far back as 10.4, and quite possibly earlier.
It's rare for the OS X Server tools to work across versions, whether it is Server.app or the older Server Admin.app tools.
Usual recommendations resulting from this are either to use screen sharing into the target system or into another (older) system with the management tools, or to keep a VM around on your current with the older version installed in it where that's permitted by the Apple software license agreements, and use that to manage the remote servers.
If you want or need longer-term support and compatibility across versions and less of a push to upgrade your software to current, then one of the Linux Long Term Support versions or the Microsoft Windows Server environments are potentially better choices.  Apple traditionally doesn't keep support for older versions around.  Or get used to having some issues across versions until and unless you get everything upgraded to current.

  • 10.6 Email-Server/Postfix Helo command rejected - local SMTP clients won't use FQDN

    Hi,
I set up a 10.6 server as mail-server which works (more or less) fine. I can send and receive internal and external Emails from various Macs with mail.app and Windows-Boxes with Thunderbird. However, some clients will be rejected due to wrong Helo strings
    e.g. a Windows-Box using Outlook express
    server postfix/smtpd[73194]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from winbox.intranet.example.com[192.168.2.21]: 504 5.5.2 <winbox>: Helo command rejected: need fully-qualified hostname; from=<[email protected]> to=<[email protected]> proto=ESMTP helo=<winbox>
similar happens with my router sending status-Emails (replace "winbox" with "router")
    finally my stand-alone-fax-machine uses it's ip-address as helo-string (helo=<192.168.2.10>, similar error)
    For now I've commented out
    smtpd_helo_restrictions = reject_invalid_helo_hostname
    #reject_non_fqdn_helo_hostname
which makes things work. But that's not the right way, I guess, moreover since this entry is "fixed" by Server-Admin ever now and then.
Does this problem arise from misconfigured boxes or a misconfigured OSX-Server? Hope the latter since there're no options to change this in my router nor my fax-machine...
    Thanks

    Try this.
Symptoms   Users who use Microsoft Outlook as their email client and whoconnect to an email server running on Mac OS X Server v10.6 may not beable to send mail. The following (or similar) alert is returned toOutlook clients:    The message could not be sent becauseone of the recipients was rejected by the server. This settingis configurable and the restriction can be removed, however anymodification of a security-related setting should be evaluated prior tomaking the change.   Once you have evaluated the change, you can use the following steps to implement it:   Note: Before proceeding, back up the /etc/postfix/main.cf file as a precaution.
In /etc/postfix/main.cf, locate the smtpd_helo_restrictions setting
Remove "reject_non_fqdn_helo_hostname" from the list of settings.
    Restart the Mail service.

  • Solaris nis client can't connect to Windows 2008 NIS Server across subnets

I have been using Microsoft Windows Server for NIS for years to centralize some accounts accessing Solaris and Linux OS.
Windows 2003 R2 Indentity Management for UNIX version of Server for NIS was last working version with Solairs.
After upgrading Domain to Windows 2008 all Solaris clients that are on different subnets fail to bind and connect to NIS servers now.
These servers already were setup using ypinit -c to manually add the NIS servers to connect to and prior to Windows 2008 this worked.
Now no Solaris nis clients on different subnets (no firewall between) can connect , but other Unix/Linux OS connect fine.
Is this a known issue and can we get a resolution as it seems only Solaris is affected?

    Hi Mid.Hudson-IT,
Before we begin ,we should ensure we have configured the printer server correctly .
Here is a link for reference of configuring the printer server .
Print server role: Configuring a print server
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc775791(v=ws.10).aspx
"I can map all of the printers on the network to the print server as-well as install the drivers correctly and I can resolve the IP and server name via DNS"
From this sentence ,I can`t figure out whether you have tried to ping the server both with the IP adress and name adress from the client ?
If we can ping the print server from the client,we can ensure the connection to the printer server is good .
Then we can try to install the printer driver directly to have a check .In the adress bar of Windows Explorer ,input "\\server name \the printer name"
If we cannot ping the print server ,we should troubleshoot the network issue firstly.
We also can check the event viewer for more information to troubleshoot this issue .
    Best regards

  • Windows 7 Client 'sees' an old version of windows 2012 server share

    Hi All,
I have a problem which seems to be a common theme looking at other threads. Here's the overview of the problem:-
I have multiple windows 7 clients and a windows 8.1 client within a 2008 Server in a domain.
I also have a Windows 2012R2 Server which is not joined to the domain. There is a Share on the 2012R2 which has the Caching Option turned off. Everyone full control on Share & File permissions.
One of the Windows 7 machines in Explorer when it looks at
\\2012server\share sees an old version of the folder. It seems that SMB 2 chaching is working too well. Not even pressing F5 or clicking View, Refresh updates windows explorer.
It took a reboot to get the workstation to see the up to date contents of the share on the 2012 server.
We don't seem to have that behaviour with that client against the 2008 server.
I have seen this behaviour on another machine un-related to us at another location which was in a workgroup with a 2012 server and no domain.
    Questions:-
Is there some sort of problem with Windows 7 workstations working against 2012 Servers in a non-domain setting or is it just Windows 7 against 2012 servers period?
I understand that Windows 7 utilises SMB1 & SMB2. SMB2 introduced caching. If the server has turned off the share cache option should the client cache the contents of the share or the information about the files & folders & 'file not found'
    information?
I want to open a file handle to a file on a network share so I can read and write data to it. But I also want to know that when I look at the folder to open the file I'm actually looking at the live version of the folder and files in the folder and
not a cached version of the folder. If it's a cached version the file might be there already but I won't see it.
Is there an API call that tells the client to get a fresh view of the server share so I can be absolutely sure that when I look for a file on the server I'm getting the correct answer and not one from cache.
I first posted the question with the same subject "Windows 7 Client 'sees' an old version of windows 2012 server share" in the Windows 7 Networking Fourm
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/23bf3627-987b-4c27-8062-85a284a2cda4/windows-7-client-sees-an-old-version-of-windows-2012-server-share?forum=w7itpronetworking and it was suggested I repost in here. Please do take the time to read
the thread which will save time with suggestions that have already been covered.
As the computers that can be affected by this problem are not mine I cannot enforce or guarantee that any of my 'client base' will apply any hotfixes. I will also not have the ability to tweak registry settings as I can't guarantee Admin Access.
It seems that we need to go back to SMB1 as all the tweaks to SMB since those days have introduced problems with the basic requirement of sharing files from a share on a server for Read/Write purposes. I have tried turning a network back to SMB1 and that
has resolved a lot of the issues but then I found a post/MS blog that states not to leave the network on SMB1
The Caching option of the share had already been turned off. Surely Windows clients should not cache any information about the share but I think that is not the case.
    Thanks is advance
    Robert

    Hi Shaon,
    Thanks for looking into this.
If this is a known issue, why isn't the hotfix rolled into a general windows update if this is a known problem? However this doesn't just affect domain joined workstations.
Surely it's basic functionality for a networked computer to access files and folders on a network file server. It's what networks were invented for at the end of the day.
I am unable to apply hotfixes to these computers that are having the problem due to the fact they are not mine but my customers.
At one of my customers sites I disabled SMB2 from the server and network clients as well as disabling the network adapter power saving option. This seemed to resolve the issues that I saw on one client that seemed to be 30 minutes behind the rest of
the network.  The hotfix you link to states that it is for Domain joined computers. At my customer site the PC's are not in a domain at all, just a workgroup with workstations and a 2012r2 server. Will the hotfix be applicable to non-domain machines?
Also many clients seemed to loose the file handle to an open file on the server. I'll get them to turn SMB2 back on at some point after I send out some updates but all the problems I see seem to be caused by the caching functions in SMB2. SMB1 is good and
stable. It's SMB2 that seems to be causing the problems as it was designed from the ground up for caching.
Has this networking issue been resolved in Windows 8, 8.1 and 10?
As I am unable to apply a hotfix to 1000's of PC's that are not mine, is there an API call or something where I can get the windows client to stop lying and get me the current state of a folder on the server?
Will Turning off ClientSideCaching fix the issue? HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MrxSmb\Parameters\
    CSCEnabled
Or will every machine need to be tuned individually according to the following guide:-

First off, exchange stopped sending and receiving any emails- whether internal or external. We are running a server 2008 R2 domain and exchange 2010 is installed on a Server 2008 virtual machine.
I tried simply rebooting the server and then tried logging on and getting into the Exchange Management Console. I receive the following error in the exchange management console:
    Initialization failed
    The following error occurred while attempting to connect to the specified Exchange server 'exchangesvr.chs.internal';
    The attempt to connect to
http://exchangesvr.chs.internal/Powershell using "Kerberos" authentication failed: Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message: The WinRM client received an HTTP server error status (500), but the remote service did not include any
other information about the cause of the failure. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic.
I followed the steps listed here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff607221(EXCHG.80).aspx
but everything appeared to be correct. I did not have to make any changes because everything was set as it should be according to that information.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Best regards
    Katrina

    Hi,
I had the same problem, and I spent a weekend looking a solution, fortunally, I have it:
    Please follow this steps:
Install WinRM IIS Extension, adding this feature from Server Manager.
Change  IPv4 over IPv6 lookup preference, because the FQDN fails to find the server on TCP/IPv6.
To verify this, on Command Prompt please make this test: ping yourserver.yourdomain.domain.
Maybe you obtain TCP/IPV6 address response.
Probably the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager dont have the binding for IPv6, only for IPv4.
To change IPv4 over IPv6 lookup group prefence, follow this steps:
Please open regedit, locate the skubkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters\
On DisabledComponents subkey, double click, change de value for
0x20 (or 4120 Hexadecimal). this value make  the Windows OS to prefer IPv4 over IPv6.
Repeat the test, on command prompt:
ipconfig /flushdns (Enter) to flush DNS cache.
    ping yourserver.yourdomain.domain.
At this moment you obtain TCP/IPv4 address response.
To check Exchange Managment Console operation, you must restart the server.
    Please restart the server.
              Best Regards,

    Hi Kenneth,
Here for your case suggest you to configure RDP session time limit so that your user can disconnect\log off once the specific time limit reached.
You can setup the session time limit in different method.
    1. Open the Server Manager, select Remote Desktop Services.
    2. In Remote desktop Services, in right side you can drop down to collections.
    3. Select the collection which you want to edit the settings.
    4. Under collections Properties, select Task and then Edit Properties.
    5. In Properties dialog box, select Session.
    6. You can find all thetimeout settings under session collection properties; edit according to your requirements and then OK.
And apart also by group policy setting as below.
    Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Session Time Limits
    User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Session Time Limits
    -  Set time limit for disconnected sessions
    -  Set time limit for active but idle Remote Desktop Services sessions
    -  Set time limit for active Remote Desktop Services sessions
    -  End session when time limits are reached
Please check which setting suitable for your environment and you can apply for your case.

  • The new updated version of iMovie 10 won't let me open my previous files I created before the update today. I have a wedding that I'm trying to finish and deliver and now I can't because that file version won't open. I keep getting an error message

    Hello,

I NEVER hated APPLE until NOW!! I love APPLE products and apps so please help me stay in that mindset. So I worked on some movie projects when I got my macbook pro 6 months ago. I update reguarly. I saw the update prompt and honestly, I did not think I would have ANY issuess with opening my previous files that I created only a few months ago with this updated version. The new updated version of iMovie 10 won't let me open my previous files I created before the update today. I have a wedding that I'm trying to finish and deliver and now I can't because that file version won't open. I keep getting an error message and the iMovie app closes. Last night I saw the file and tried to open it but no luck. Error message came up again. I reboot and turned off my laptop for the evening and tried again just now but nothing!! I need that video. My job depends on it! I worked so hard on this wedding video and now it's lost and won't open. I work another job and don't have much time. I really don't want to start all over again. Please help me. Thanks so much for your assistance.

I also have Jolly's problem. I found the iMovie 9.0.9 folder and tried to launch the older version of iMove. It would not launch. I removed all of the iMovie preferences from the Preferences folder, removed iMove 10 from the applications folder, and restarted my Mac. iMove 9.0.9 still won't launch and I can't access my videos created with the older version of iMovie. Is there a way to uninstall iMovie 10 and reinstall iMovie 9.0.9?

  • My iPhoto won't open keeps on giving me an error message and my microsoft office two

my iPhoto won't open keeps on giving me an error message and my microsoft office two

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. More information means you get better assistance. (And no, more exclamation marks do not get help faster or make your issue seem urgent. They just make it seem like you have a stuck key )
