Hello all, I am writting an application which gets data from MS Access. Is there a way I can get the results from a query and output them into an Excel spreadsheet??? Thank you

Hi,
I agree. Why use excel to read an Access file? They are virtually one and the same thing. But you could implement the AbstractTableModel in java and create your own version of Excel. Much more fun.

How to call a SP with dynamic columns and output results into a .csv file via SSIS

hi Folks, I have a challenging question here. I've created a SP called dbo.ResultsWithDynamicColumns and take one parameter of CONVERT(DATE,GETDATE()), the uniqueness of this SP is that the result does not have fixed columns as it's based on sales from previous
days. For example, Previous day, customers have purchased 20 products but today , 30 products have been purchased.
Right now, on SSMS, I am able to execute this SP when supplying a parameter. What I want to achieve here is to automate this process and send the result as a .csv file and SFTP to a server.
SFTP part is kinda easy as I can call WinSCP with proper script to handle it. How to export the result of a dynamic SP to a .CSV file?
I've tried
EXEC xp_cmdshell ' BCP " EXEC xxxx.[dbo].[ResultsWithDynamicColumns ] @dateFrom = ''2014-01-21''" queryout "c:\path\xxxx.dat" -T -c'
SSMS gives the following error as Error = [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]BCP host-files must contain at least one column

Hey Jakub, thanks and I did see the #temp table issue in our 2008R2. I finally figured it out in a different way... I manage to modify this dynamic SP to output results into
a physical table. This table will be dropped and recreated everytime when SP gets executed... After that, I used a SSIS pkg to output this table
to a file destination which is .csv.
The downside is that if this table structure ever gets changed, this SSIS pkg will fail or not fully reflecting the whole table. However, this won't happen often
and I can live with that at this moment.

Transferring multi-column query result into MS Excel

Hello everybody!
An ultimate novice in Oracle, with some database concepts, is here.
The very first challenge; which I encoutered is that I want to transfer a Select query result, with multiple columns, into MS Excel sheet in a way that each field occupies a separate column in the sheet.
I hope the forum members will show me a simple way to get around the problem.

oracle?Excel is capable of holding 65536 rows of data on a sheet.
Oracle is capable of writing data out to files.
Oracle does not know or care whether the file it is writing is for Excel or any other product, as the file you are likely to be writing is CSV (comma seperate format) which is an open format, not specifically for Excel. If you need to limit the number of rows per CSV file then you will have to code this "business logic" into your code that produces the CSV file from Oracle.

Exporting Data Quality Statistics Into An Excel File Or Database

Hi,
I would like to ask if it is possible to export the data profiling statistics into an excel file / flat file or a database table.
The output required by our development team is that we would like to be able to manipulate and review the data profiling outside of the Data Quality Services User Interface.
I'm aware that after the cleansing of a specific set of data is that you can save/export the output results into an excel file or database, however the feature I'm looking for is for the data profiling statistics itself.
Mostly information on the knowledge base. Specifically, how many new records this specific column has and how many unique data and invalid data this column has and etc.
The reason for this is that so we can control and track the data profiling information and be a bit more flexible in creating reports and presenting the data. Using the DQS user interface would not suit our needs
for the project.
Sorry if this has been asked before but i've tried searching around and couldn't find any information regarding this functionality.

I'm not too sure where they are stored, but you could use the directories shown in transaction AL11 so find them.

When output SSRS report to Excel, Plus sign was moved to the far left pane in Excel. How to fix it?

I've created a SSRS report and looks good inside Report Manager, See below . plus "+" is in the right place and
if I click it, it will expand.
However, when I output results into excel, it becomes this, notice those plus sign "+" have been shifted to the far left and they are
not line up with each month either... Is there any way to fix in the excel so that users could see exactly what they see in the Report Manger?

Microsoft Excel has limitations with how it manages hidden and displayed report items when they are exported. When we export a report to Microsoft Excel format, groups, rows, and columns that contain report items that can be toggled are rendered as Excel
outlines. Excel creates outlines that expand and collapse rows and columns across the entire row or column which can cause the collapse of report items that are not intended to be collapsed. This is by design. For more information about this, please see Show

How do I create a battery power percentage animation, thats output is dependant on excel data?

Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible to create an animation with the output result dependant on excel data (or another form of data if not possible in excel).
E.g I would like to make a battery animation that shows the percentage of power, but I want the animation to change if the data is changed (say from 30% to 60%) .

TREX search on SAP BW data with result in BEx/Excel?

Hello all!
I want to realize a search on TREX in BW-data with showing the results in an Excel-Sheet.
It works fine on Web but we have no idea at the moment how we can do this in BEx/Excel. How can we ask for data and get the result into the Excel-Sheet?
Does someone has an idea about how this could be done?

Can query output the result into excel with a fix format?

My user giving me a requirement for new reports. They do not want the standard SAP report format but they want the result to be populate into a excel template with their own fix format. Can BW generate the report like this? Or it is out of the functionality of BW. FYI, I'm using SAP BI 7.0.

Hi Ang,
You have a way to do through the Bex Analyzer.
Please get the excel template in that please use a analysis design item in the place of the query result display.
Then after adding the analysis item then please assign a DP (data provider) with the query you have created.
After that please save the work book in your roles or fav's.
Note: some important settings has to be changed for the workbook.
In workbook settings, tick mark the property "REFRESH upon open of work book"

Mapping proc output to vars gets error extracting result into a variable of type (DBTYPE_UI2)

Hi, we run std 2012. I have a proc (sets nocount on) whose params r shown in the first block . My execute ssis sql task mapping is shown in the block following that (same order as shown, the param sizes are all -1). The variable
characteristics and initial values are shown in the 3rd block. The execute sql task command is
exec usp_fileArrivalStatus ?,?,?,?,?,? output,? output,? output
when I run the proc in ssms followed by a select on the output fields, I get stat 0, instance id -1 and file name empty string (aka tick tick aka '')
The error is:
[Execute SQL Task] Error: Executing the query "exec usp_fileArrivalStatus ?,?,?,?,?,? output,? ou..." failed with the following error:
"An error occurred while extracting the result into a variable of type (DBTYPE_UI2)".
Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.
Does anybody know what is wrong?

I may have gotten past this. The ui showed the first execution of that proc as the aborting component but when I looked at my error code (-1073548784), and component name in the
message sent with notification email, I noticed the second component name. It too executes that proc and still had ushort for appid in sql task mapping and long for instance id. I changed these characteristics to match what I posted and got green
on the seq container that runs both.
I think I go thru this kind of adventure every time I try to map proc output to ssis vars.

How to output a query results into a text file instead of outputing it to the screen..
is there a way for us to write a SQL query which specifies to output the query results to a text file.

If you are using SQL*Plus 8.1.6 or later, you can also spool output to a file in HTML format, eg
SET MARKUP HTML ON SPOOL ON PREFORMAT OFF ENTMAP ON

In iSQL*Plus 9.0.1 (the browser-based interface to SQL*Plus) onwards, you can also send the HTML output to a new web browser window, or an html file -- much easier than the command line method.

Generate Forms Output into multiple Excel Sheets

I have a Forms 5.0 application which I am currently web-enabling. The application output is in Microsoft Excel. The output can span multiple sheets depending upon the parameters selected by the user. I am using text_io package to generate a html file with links and anchors for different sheets. Is it possible to generate multiple sheets directly in Excel using a text file.

But I think this is not the solution for my problem.
I try to explain my problem again. I have a web template with filter, analyse table and infofield. The infofield contains the selected filter values. There is also a button for export into excel. In WAD 7.0 you have only to set several parameters for the export command and the export to excel works. However all web items will be transfered into the first excel sheet among one another.
Is it possible to export one web item into the first excel-sheet and the second web item into the second excel-sheet of the same excel workbook?
