Over the ear headphones - what to use???

I ride a motorcycle with my ipod. I am looking for a set of headphones that go over the ear (headphone and not just the cord) and that will block some on the outside noise but not all. What are you all using that would fit that description? If possible put a web link in your reply back.

It's a physical design flaw that results in a recessed earphone jack that most earphones don't fit.
One option is to purchase a jack adapter:

The other is to "surgically" modify your existing headphone jack:

  • Recommendations for over the ear bluetooth headphone

Hello. Does anyone have recommendations for over the ear bluetooth headphones to be used for my Mac Pro? Thanks!

I recently got a set of Insignia NS-BTHDP I am quite happy with. They synced up no problem with the internal bluetooth and work nicely. I had an older set (Jensen WBT212) that didn't work as well but were functional that these replaced.

  • Over the ear bluetooth headphones

I have been looking forever for over the ear style headphones because I have been tired of the cord constantly getting in the way when I am going around listening to my music on my mp3 player. Why have there not been any over the ear style headphones made for bluetooth? If they never get made then I guess I will have too wait till umax comes out and see if they make good wireless headphones for it and not just those crappy headphones that are available for bluetooth.

I just found one by chance but it is only 60db and I have seen others alot better then this when it comes to quality.

  • Nokia BH-905i: over the ear cushion pads?

    Hi,
I'm a happy owner of Nokia BH-905i headsets. I have to say I bought them with some reluctancy but I was never more satisfied with something I bought. Working with my computer or my phone most of the time I have to say they are great.
Anyway, the thing is I tend to use them quite a lot. And the on-the-ear design sometimes becomes uncomfortable. And AFAI Nokia is not planing on releasing a new headset with these specifications (bluetooth, noise cancelling, portable, etc).
Do anybody knows if over-the-ear cushion pads can be adapted? For what I can tell the cushion pads are glued to the body. Am I right?
    Thanks.

Have you considered Nokia's new Purity Pro Headset? It's on the ear, wireless, designed for comfort, portable (as it folds up) and has active noise cancellation.
    http://www.nokia.com/global/products/accessory/bh-940/
I've had a quick google and not found anyone talking about adapting the cushions on your headset so it looks like it either can't be done or no one has tried that kind of modification. Perhaps you could be the brave person that tries it and blogs about it for others to read? My guess is with it being an expensive product is that no one has dared to do it. You can buy earpads for other headsets on ebay so you may find some that suit there, but obviously it's entirely at your own risk.
Sadly due to the forum rules the users here aren't allowed to discuss or assist in any form of modification or disassembly outside of what is covered in the user guide so I wish you luck if you try it!

  • I just bought iWorks Serial Number Key over the internet. When I use the key, iWorks tells me the key is invalid!! Please help. (I bought this iWorks from someone in Singapore. I am using it in Malaysia)

I just bought iWorks Serial Number Key over the internet. When I use the key, iWorks keep telling me the key is invalid!! Please help. (I bought this iWorks from someone in Singapore. I am using it in Malaysia.). Thanks

Downloaded the Trial version. It still says the serial number key is invalid. On the iWork page where I am suppose to enter the serial number key, the "Go Back" button is always BOLD, but the "Continue" button remains GREY all the time. The "Continue" button remains grey even after I have completed the key entry. I have to type the "Return" key on my keyboard to force enter the key. The message I get is still "Invalid key".
I have called Apple. The first person helped by asking me to delete certain items in some Folders and it still did not work. I was then connected to a senior person, but I heard over the recording that there were 15 persons waiting on the line. I had to end the call because the wait will take too long.

  • My ipod audio only coming through the right headphone whats wrong?, My ipod audio only coming through the right headphone whats wrong?

Ive tried with mulitple headphones but my audio on my ipod is only coming through the right headphone. Whats wrong with my ipod? WIll I need to purchase another one?

I don't know if this is a common issue: I bought an iphone from someone and notice that only the plug design of the stereo headphone that comes with it fits in its receptacle. I tried others that are generally for the same size but they can't go deep enough in the receptacle thus can't get any audio. One thing I noticed is that this iphone's receptacle is deeper in the device than usual, so any other plugs other than the one provided can't fit. I can't use my external speakers with it!!! I fail to understand this. All all iphones like this or is it a defect particular to mine? After all, my ipod touch doesn't have this issue! If anybody knows, please tell me.

  • NO LONGER THE BEST HEADPHONES FOR ZEN TO

    <DIV align=center>********** UPDATE **********
    <DIV align=center>
I can no longer recommend these earbuds due to poor quality. Mine broke after only a few weeks of moderate use. I handled them gingerly too. The left channel lost all bass and 50% of the volume. In my opinion, this is simply inexcuseable! I returned them and got another pair, but that is besides the point. Now I'll have to listen with my fingers crossed, hoping and praying that this pair dosen't unexpectedly die for no reason. With this kind of poor quality control, I can no longer recommend these. In spite of how great they sound, I'd have to tell you to buy at your own risk!
If you want your Zen Touch to reach its full potential, you need to upgrade your headphones. The included earbuds are OK, but they don't bring out the best in the Zen. The ones I would highly recommend are the Sony MDR-EX7SL. I've never been interested in the in the ear style headphones before. I always assumed that they just couldn't produce sufficient bass because of their small drivers. Boy was I wrong. Unlike conventional over the ear headphones, earbuds don't rely on large size drivers to produce bass. Their bass is achieved through an "air tight seal". That's why these come with three different size silicon ear buds. A tight seal is essential, yet easily achieved with one of the three different sizes included. The sound reproduced by these is astonishing! I have no desire to go back to full size over the ear headphones. The bass is deep, well controlled and tight with no distortion or muddyness. The midrange is airy and transparent. The highs are pristine and velvety smooth. All frequencies are well balanced. These things are so tiny, when you first see them you can't help but be skeptical. One listen and your jaw will drop. If you read any negati've reviews about these babies, the reviewer probably doesn't have the proper fit. They also come in white, which is a perfect match for my Creative Zen Touch 40GB. Run out and buy these now! Trust me. You won't regret it.
One note. If you want to save yourself $0.00, you can get the MDR-EX5SL instead. They use the same exact drivers. The only differences are: they come in black only, they have a single 4 ft. cord instead of a two piece cord, they only come with two different size silicon earbuds (instead of 3) and there is no carrying case included.
<B><FONT color=#92560>Cons:</B> Carrying case could be a little bigger.

I think the 5s are a better value. I'll confess. I bought the 7s because I liked the white.

  • Is it possible to use the drawing dynamic content to erase an image rather than draw over the top?

I'm trying to create a cover for my magazine  that has a chalk board with writing on. I want the user to be able to erase the writing with their finger but can't figure out how to do it. All i can do is draw a solid colour over the top. What i want is for the finger swipe to erase the .png image instead. wondered if it can be done using a mask but I can only get a mask to reveal solid colour not an image.

If the images are exactly the same size then make sure the layer with the mask
is the active layer and in the other documents go to Select>Load Selection and choose
your document with the layer mask under Source document and under channel choose the layer mask.
After the selection loads press the layer mask icon at the bottom of the layers panel.

  • What are the pros and cons re using an intel iMac vs MacPro with LP8?

I'm considering getting a new intel Mac in the near future (presuming a new MacPro will be released in the near future - maybe at the same time as Leopard). I compose largely for film and television and I am composing largely using a combination of loops, software instruments and some recorded live performance. I usually sync to a low res quicktime movie.
I do like the idea of a simple and uncluttered work environment with an iMac, added to which there's also a degree of portability with the iMac however the MacPro is obviously more powerful. I'm not sure how much the difference in power between the two computers would affect me.
Would I be compromising myself much if I went for the iMac over the MacPro? What are the pros and cons of the iMac vs the MacPro in relation to Logic Pro 8?

In the world large-scale music composition using samples, loops, etc (especially for film) your two biggest needs are RAM and HD speed/access. The imac looses big time in this department (as a single computer at least) as it can only be upgraded to 4gb ram, and only holds one internal HD, and also lacks any PCI expansion for DSP cards, audio interfaces, etc.
In generalyou want to separate your data vs applications as much as possible, to ensure both can be accessed quickly and easily by the computer. So its best to have your system software / applications on one internal HD, and your logic data (samples, audio recordings, loops) on another drive(s). You can do this with an iMac via USB, FW800, & FW400, but depending on how big your projects get, how many USB and FW drives / interfaces you use, and how much data you need to stream, you could overload the buss on the imac (not sure if it has multiple busses or not). Plus speed wise, internal SATA are much faster than external drives, and the mac pro with its 4 internal slots seems like a great choice for speed and flexibility.
However, if you dont find yourself doing large scale projects, then you might be better off going with an imac. We just purchased one for my father and it runs great! It blows the socks off of my Dual 2.5 G5 tower in terms of CPU speed! If you run into problems running things from the imac, you could always add a mac-mini down the road to stream sample libs, as a Logic node, etc, which seems to be a much more cost effective solution.
I hope this was helpful, but I probably just made the decision harder . In fact, if I were to start over today, I dont know if I'd go with a MacPro, or an iMac / mac mini combination. they both seem to have their advantages / disadvantages.
    Best of luck!

  • Is it possible to get custom eartips for the Apple In-ear headphones?

A year or so ago I purchased the Apple In-ear headphones. I use them primarily in the car when my brother plays his music through the car stereo while I'm watching a movie on my iPod Touch or my MacBook Pro. They have very good isolation, but are uncomforable and it is very hard to get them to fit in my ears properly as well as keeping them from working themselves out of my ears. This is with me using the small eartips as the large eartips don't fit in my ears at all and the medium eartips make my ears hurt more than the small eartips along with not fitting as well.
I think custom eartips may be the best solution to my quandry.
Is it possible to get custom eartips for my Apple In-ear headphones?
If so, where can I get custom eartips for my Apple In-ear headphones?

i would definitely try amazon.com, im sure there are some earips on there that are fit to work with apple in-ear headphones, hope this helps!

  • Unable to Manage Add-ons to My Account over the In...

On 27th Oct I signed up for a telephone and broadband service in a shopping arcade.
On 29th, I got a letter from BT detailing the order. The add-ons I expected were missing. I was particularly worried that I was Ex Directory and I did not want to lose my existing entry - the directory staff might close off at any time, leaving me unlisted for a whole year.
The letter told me I had an e-mail address and password, and I should check for e-mails regularly. During November I tried to access it but couldn't. I looked at BT sites and there were promises that I could amend my details over the internet.
     - "Welcome to My BT
     - My BT has everything you need online - you can view and download your bills 24/7, manage all your services, track your orders, get the latest offers and help - and much more"
I could not get this to work either.
Nearly 30 different explanations/advice I got for why I had no e-mail and couldn't change Add-ons over the internet are listed below.
     (1) 0800 111 4567: E-mail is not working because the line is not yet connected.
I asked for technical support since this seemed to conflict with the letter.
     (2) Security locked - give it 5-10 min.
I tried for 80 min. On dialling the same number
() explanation 1 again, and I asked to speak to a supervisor.
     (3) Super said wait until Broadband is connected.
BT.custhelp let me send a complaint (I would rather have called it a problem at this stage). I also e-mailed a copy to the salesman.
The salesman asked me to explain what I had, in fact, patiently and carefully put in the e-mail.
     (4) He said he would call BT and cancel the order. I told him I thought his brinksmanship was a poor show.
(1 again) He said to wait until the line was connected and it would be easy to sort out.
     (5) Eventually he insisted on handling the Directory Entry: I also wanted a slight change to the entry so that it said {Surname} {Wife's initial} and {My initial}. It took three attempts to get him to understand this, possibly because he was in the noisy arcade. This is why I prefer to do things on-line or by post.
    (6) E-mail in reply to the "complaint": wait until connected. The originator said that he was to send a helpful e-mail within 24 hours. Call closed. I had 7 days to re-open it (what if on holiday?) The e-mail never arrived.
I re-opened. A... in Belfast 'phoned me - she was enthusiastic about helping me.
     (7) Unfortunately, she had already gone into my account and changed me to paperless billing. This is not one of the things I wanted - another reason to want to do my own amending on-line. She volunteered to change this so I will get both paper and on-line bills.
(6 again) She will send me a helpful e-mail with a link, and she persuaded me that the call could be closed. I am not sure I ever got that e-mail.
     (8) A... 'phoned again to give me a number to call about the directory entry: I thought she had arranged something and the number she gave me would connect me with someone who would know.
The engineer arrived, connected me to BT and transfered the number. He was efficient and helpful. (But he knew nothing about BT e-mail etc.)
The 'phone line worked well and the Broadband was faster than my previous service.
    I got to access my Btinternet.com e-mailbox.
I could not access BT.com/youraccount to change my Add-ons because
     (9) The system claimed I had chosen the security question "Mother's Maiden Name" from a list given to me. I had not chosen this. A... had asked me that question in order to set it up but when I did not reply immediately, she gave me a choice and let me set up a different question.
Later, I accessed this web page again and instead of asking me for Mothers Maiden Name, it asked me to set up the security question and gave me the options.
I tried to get in to update my Add-ons or my Account.
    (10) "We are sorry. Our records show ... Outstanding order on this line ... to discuss ... helpful advisor on 0800 731 0286 8 am to 10 pm Mon to Sat".
    (11) I 'phoned this. A2 said this was Directory Entry business, but it would clear at midnight.
(10 again) The following day, same message on BT.com.
I remembered A...'s words and 'phoned the number she had given regarding my Directory entry.
It was a general number for Directory things and when I got through the "Press 1 for ..." maze, the Advisor seemed to have no record of my problem.
    (12) She said that I did have a Directory Entry, so either the original threat in the letter to make me Ex- has not (yet) been processed or the salesman came through.
    (13) With regard to the listing, I explained what I want, but what she said in her thick accent gave me mixed feelings about if I will get it.
    (14) 0800 713 0286 again. Advisor said there was no outstanding order. I should be able to get on now. I tried BT.com again
    (15) "We are sorry ... we have noticed you already have one of our great package deals. Please call one of our helpful advisors on 0800 800 150 who will advise you on how to change your package."
I tried again. This time, I get
    (16) "We are sorry we are unable to show you what your calling plan and add ons are. You may still change them on line - simply click the Change your Calling Plan link. Or contact a customer advisor on 0800 800 150 from 8am to 10 pm Monday to Saturday." I clicked 'Change your Calling Plan'.
The next screen showed a radio control against my Account number and phone number and another to allow me to enter an alternative number and my postcode. I clicked the control against my existing details and ticked a check box to confirm me as the account holder. A screen told me that my 'phone line was being checked. The next screen was a repeat of the message about already having a package deal.
I called 0800 800 150. I had a lot of trouble working out an appropriate key to press in response to the automated message and I got told
    (17) "We do not have an order for you", but I got some more options. Remember that it says on the internet that I can call from 8am to 10pm. Ut was only 9:15.
    (18) After going through all the rigmarole, I was told that Advisors are available 8am to 9pm.
(An e-mail to my BT.com preferred address told me I could now look at my bill online. I followed the link. The web page had no bill on it and none of its four links got me access.)
    I called 0800 800 150 again.
    (19) The advisor did not know anything about the internet - I should contact BT Shop on 0800 917 0510 where someone would talk me through it. Unfortunately, they were now closed for the weekend.
    (20) He continually pushed for me to do my Add-ons over the 'phone - yet he had obviously not listened to what I had said since he wanted to fix the wrong things for me.
I received a letter confirming signing up for online billing.
An e-mail on Btinternet.com thanked me for signing up to BT.com.
    (21) I was to click a link in it to finish the procedure. I did this.
Immediately I was set up for On-line Billing only. No advance warning. No confirmation screen. It seems incredibly easy to update my details over the internet to what BT want them to be, but, once again, it was impossible for me to get in and update them to what I wanted.
    (22) Logging out I got "We are sorry, but there has been a problem/ Your order can not be fulfilled".
    (23) The letter mentioned screen option "Profile". There was one called "Your Profile". I had not tried this before. It sent me off to a screen about BT OneID. A red herring.
    (24) I called BT Shop. Internet was nothing to do with them.
I called 0800 800 150 again. The Advisor said she would also have recommended BT Shop.
I called 0800 800 150 again. A transfer, I forget where. No sooner had I got through than I was cut off by a dialling tone.
Dialled 100. After a strange procedure, I was through to an Accounts Advisor.
After another little adventure, he put me through to what I thought he said was the Accounts Department.
    (25) The lady said that Call Centres know nothing about the internet, and that I will never be able to use it to access my details since I will only be able to speak to Call Centres. She said she was in the Cancellation Department.
    (26) This probably meant that the previous Advisor had thought that my only hope was to cancel my entire service and get a new one.
    She transfered me to Billing.
    (27) S... checked my details and said that I did not have Paperless Billing set up(!), nor Direct Debit. I think also redit/Debit Card details that I had seen on one of the internet pages. She assured me that if I put these in I would be able to amend my Add-ons (I could change/delete these afterwards if I wanted).
Setting up the Direct Debit was complicated by one screen saying that I could change to a Regular Payment or Direct Debit, and the next only mentioning Regular Payment: in trepidation I opted for the Regular Payment, and the screen after that allowed me to set up the Direct Debit.
Having set up all the options suggested, I waited to be able to change my details. And waited.
It was at this point that I searched the internet for "We have noticed you already have one of our great package deals." It came up with BT Community Forum, and that the visitors all say how helpful the Moderator is. Here goes.

    Hi Jim-in-Hemel,
Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear of the problems you're having with your order.
If you could send in your forum username and BT account details to the email address registered against my profile I'll see what we can do to help.

  • Printer HP Envy 4500 Series cannot be contacted over the network

My wireless printing chooses when it wants to work, and right now it's really acting up. It is connected wirelessly, it is the default printer, but after troubleshooting it is telling me "Printer HP Envy 4500 Series cannot be contacted over the network." What can I do to get printing again?

    Hello featherfamily,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the printer not connecting with a wireless connection.
Please click on the following link that deals with when the 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Does Not Print: Windows 7.
Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

  • The new podcast app is using up my data plan

The new "podcast app" is using up my data plan like crazy! Its costing me much much more money now to listen to my podcast. They want donations to keep them "free" but this is much much futher from free. What is going on! I want it to go back to the way it was. Please dont tell me about them being free on WIFI I know that. I dont live in the city so the only WIFI is never where I can get it when I use them. Even driving down the road , if I loose service the podcast stops and my bill is over the top! What can I do to make it stop!!!!!??? This is a very bad move.
Also what is the yellow "other" on my itunes sync thing that show how much of what is using up the space on my phone? I have taken almost everything off of the phone and almost half of the space is the yellow other. I can not wipe my phone and start over I have legal text messages I have to keep for court on my phone.
Im very unhappy with this move of Apples and others are unhappy with it too or havent caught on to it yet.
Please change it or let us know what to do to end this issue.
    thank you
    ami
PS, I will be contacting the the podcasts to let them know that the donations will now be going to pay for the NO LONGER FREE PODCASTS.

This has been really frustrating me too!  I made sure the 'use data' was turned off in settings, and yet when I was listening to a podcast, it went from one that I had downloaded to one that I hadn't downloaded without stopping, so I used up a ton of data!  It was because I was 'subscribed' to that podcast, which meant every darn episode ever was appearing in my list of podcasts - you can set it to download them automatically, but I don't want to download every single podcast for some, and there's no way to easily pick and choose like there used to be (with the 'get more podcasts' button).  In the end, I've just unsubscribed from all my podcasts, and I'll go find them one by one - it's really annoying, but it seems like it's all (downloading every possible episode, which for some is a lot weekly) or downloading manually by going to the catalogue.  I miss the old podcasts.  Also, I don't think it's cooler that it's not merged with my other music anymore.  Why was that necessary?
