OVM Manager 3.0 user management missing?

Has anyone had any luck finding where to add/manage users in OVM Manager? The concept seems pretty standard but I've looked everywhere and dont see a place to manage users.. Theres no way we could use this in a production enviroment unless we could assign users and permissions to things.
Edited by: Dave on Aug 25, 2011 8:14 AM

bmace,
Thanks, but that wouldn't help our situation as we need to delegate certain permissions to those users, for example, we need to be able to give a user access to reboot/start/stop a guest, but not delete or do anything destuctive.
Hopefully Oracle is working on this, sooner rather than later.

I am a newbie to Oracle. I am having a question regarding user managed hot backup. My oracle version is 11.2.0.2 and OS version is OEL.
What will happen, if we perform User Managed Hot Backup without setting tablespaces in BEGIN BACKUP mode?

The bigger question is why you would do a user managed backup in the first place.  User managed backup means user managed recovery.  The oracle supplied utility for database backup is 'rman', and the 'r' stand for 'recovery' -- as in "Recovery Manager".  Not using rman to do your backups is akin to not using the spare tire, jack, and lug wrench that came with your car to fix a flat tire.

BTW, it would be really helpful if you would go to your profile and give yourself a recognizable name.  It doesn't have to be your real name, just something that looks like a real name.  Who says my name is really Ed Stevens?  But at least when people see that on a message they have a known identity.  Unlike the system generated name of 'ed0f625b-6857-4956-9b66-da280b7cf3a2', which is like going to the pub with a bag over your head.

    User,
    What is your name?
It sounds like you've been configured as a developer, not a workspace administrator. You'll need to talk to the person that created your account.

  • Roles appearing in User managment but not in Users Form

I have used the WF_LOCAL_SYNCH.propagateUserRole API to add roles to new and existing users in our production instance. That seemed to go well.
When I view that user through the user management screen I see that he has the role assigned to them. Yet when he logs on he cannot see the role. When I view the user through the user form the indirect responsibility is not showing up.
We have run the Workflow Directory Services User/Role Validation against the user with the following parameters:
    p_BatchSize – 10000 (Default Value 10000)
p_Check_Dangling – Yes (Default value No)
Add missing user/role assignments – Yes (Default Value No)
Update WHO columns in WF tables – No (Default Value No)
That has worked for some people but not all.
Does anyone know what is going on or how to fix this?

this you can find in Web console
    configuration>>user configuration>>action>>attributes
I am able to add attribute but not able to make field as mandatory, while creating attribute we are not getting option like that you want this field mandatory or not but while modifying the attribute we are getting option like required field radio button if i select that i am getting error "you cant change an attribute to required unless all the user have value for this field"

now when i log into user1 i am not able to see Administration tab where i can select Create user.
I am working on this issue for couple of days ,but not able to find the solution & have i missed some configurations ?
    Thank-You
    Rahul Shah

    Hi Rahul,
I have tested your scenarion.. with below clause
    1) Created an organization -> Human Resource
    2) Created an Role -> HR_Admins
    3) Assigned HR_Admins roles as administrative role of Human Resource organization
    4) Created user1 with organization as Human Resource & Assigned HR_Admins role to this user. : default role All Users
    5) Created authorization policy for user management with following selections
Permission -> Create User. :- *"Select ALL"*
Data Constraints -> Selected "Users that are members of selected Organizations" & selected above Human Resource organization.
    Assignment -> HR_Admins role .
    In data constraints
Organization Security Setting     Hierarchy Aware (include all Child Organizations)
Now I am able to see the create user tab and, I can create user in Human Resource org only.
If it doesn't work for you. Just assign "REQUEST ADMINISTRATOR" IN AUTH POLICY. Test the result.
Also what is your OIM version?
Test it with fresh data like new role name, org and user,

  • Station Options - User Manager tab

Within the Station Options, I see the User Manager tab.  If I use the default configure location, the Users.ini file will live in C:\Program Files\National Instruments\TestStand 3.5\Cfg\Users.ini.  Is this where BOTH the development and target Users.ini file will live, or is this only the development location?  If this location applies only to the development, where is the target location specified?

    That's correct.
All of my deployments, locally and at our contract manufacturers, are connected to a network. For the CM's we provide an inexpensive server that is connected to the CM's network. The testers are connected to a network provided by the server. All test results go to the server. That makes it easy for both the CM and my company to get test results. Also, the sequence files, test steps, model files, etc. are all deployed to the server. This makes it simple to update all testers at once and I don't have to worry that one tester out of several and 3 thousand miles away missed getting updated. Servers are cheap.

  • User Management - Configuring through code

Create a session variable in the datasyn project. In a filter we will set a sesssion variable, the value of the session variable will be an array of strings. Each element of the array will contain the groups associated to the user. In Portal admin tool we have to configure to do entitlements from this session variable.
Does anyone have any idea how to configure the entitlements in portal admin console thorugh a session variable?
Please let me know if this approach of configuring user management through code is feasible?
    Thanks,

Just in case you missed it , if the condition is always based on the user's groups then you need not use session property set , you can directly use 'Add Groups to Role' when you are editing the visitor entitlement
As a rule i would tend to avoid putting things in the session unless there was no other way. (in your case , everytime the user's group changes the session must be updated , it also means that changing the groups through any external means e.g. directly updating say the user ldap would not reflect in the users current session -- unless you wrote more code)
The benefit of using the session would be that this need not be directly mapped to a group , it can be anything you want.

  • Cisco SRP527w can't find User Management tab

    Hi,
Can anyone help me? I just bought a new Cisco SRP527w and I'm just new on this kind of equipment. I can't locate the user management tab as I'm trying to change the default password.
Also, I can't acess the internet. My dsl modem rj45 is connected  to the WAN/LAN port with IP Static settings. What did I missed here? your help is much appreciated.

    Hi Ronald,
In this case, I would be inclined to suggest that you try to use the SRP in place of the Bayan modem - this may be easier than managing the modem configuration to get traffic to and from the SRP efficiently.  It's really your choice though at the end of the day.
If you replace the modem with the SRP, try the following (I referred to the following post for information):
Delete the second ADSL PVC you had configured above,
Edit the configuration of the first PVC (PVC0) and select:
    Encapsulation = PPPoE
Username is your BayanDSL username with @sod at the end (i.e. myusername@sod)
    Password is you BayanDSL password.
Set your VPI/VCI manually to 8 and 33 (or possibly 8/35 as you had before).
This should be enough.  The IP address that Bayan has assigned for you should be assigned automatically during PPP initiation.
If this doesn't work, then it may be that your service is bound to the modem you have.

  • OIM 9.1.0 with Database User Management: Connector Exception upon Connect

    Hi,
I've been struggling with the Database User Management connector (9.0.4) with Sybase, following the steps word-for-word as per the documentation (Oracle® Identity Manager Connector Guide for Database User Manage Release 9.0.4; E10425-0; July 2009).
When defining the IT Resource through the Install Connector wizard, I get the following when it does a connection test:
14:51:52,795 ERROR [WEBAPP] Class/Method: CreateITResourceAction/testConnectivityForDataBase/ClassNotFoundException encounter some problems: No ClassLoaders found for: com.sybase.jdbc2.jdbc.SybDriver
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: No ClassLoaders found for: com.sybase.jdbc2.jdbc.SybDriver
even though I've ensured jconn2.jar is in the ThirdParty directory, reflushed the cache, and restarted OIM; the connector still can't seem to load the driver.
I've tried the database testing script with similar results.
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers
    Simon
PS: I believe v5.5 of JConnect (as required by the OIM Connector) has been EOL'd and Sybase. They recommend you use v6.0 (v6 is jconn3.jar)), which from what I can see should work as com.sybase.jdbc3.jdbc.SybDriver; I tried that as well but had the same ClassNotFoundException.

I've fixed it; needed to copy jconn2.jar into the $JBOSS_HOME/lib directory and restart the server.

  • User Management - How to submit Additional Access Request on behalf of employee

User Management - how can we configure "Access Requests" so that Managers can submit Additional Access Requests, or Initial Access Requests on behalf of employee?
Have looked at "Manage Proxies" but this seems to allow access to everything - not ideal
Please assist with knowledge and/or experience
    Many Thanks
    Me

Additional Access Request Registration Process is complete
Giving access to User Management to users is not an option.
What I would like is the scenario below - is this achievable?
When employee goes to iProcurement > Preferences > Access Requests > Request Access | they can submit an access request on behalf of themselves.
Would like an option where a manager, navigates to same UI as above, has option to choose a subordinate, and request additional access on their behalf
The table UMX_REG_REQUESTS has columns REQUESTED_FOR_USER_ID & REQUESTED_BY_USER_ID - so it seems they don't have to be same person (manager can submit request on behalf of an employee)
Can this be achieved through UI for "Access Requests"?
