P6n sli sound problem

hey everyone, my problem is i cant seem to get my on board sound working.  Ive installed the drivers from the disk i recieved with my mobo, but still no luck.  Using XP media center w/ SP 2 . The mobo is the MSI P6N SLI-FI.  Also when i go to control panel -> sound and audio devices thats where it says "no audio device". Any suggestions?

Have you tried the newest Realtek drivers and codec?
If you click on the link it should begin download.
If not, go to "http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1140"

  • MSI P6N SLI sound problem under windows 7

    Hi all!
I have an MSI P6N SLI mainboard and I have installed win7 ultimate x64 to get a look on that OS. Everything works fine expect one thing: I have no sound. I tried to install manually the realtek sound driver but no changes. When I check the Volume Control Options then neither the Speakers nor the Realtek Digital Output checked (but the speaker is plugged in).
However I have sound under Linux.
Could someone help me? (and sorry if I have missed the topic which resolves this problem if there is any)

    Hi everyone,
hope it's ok to refresh this thread - I did not want to open up a new one, because this one matches my problem perfectly - but my speakers are plugged-in the right way
I'm running Win7 64 on the MSI P6N SLI (not v2 no Platinum) and am unable to install the sounddriver (well not correct - I did install the driver). The upgrade advisor said all green (under Win XP 32) and the MSI-Driver-Page propagates Win7 32/64 is supported for the SoundCard of my Board.
The driver installs just fine, but the device won't come out of "I have a problem"-state - always telling me "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" (I event tried installing the driver manually with pointing the win-hardware-setup-routine to the driver-directory) - still no use - I removed and rebootet serveral times...
Hope anybody has a solution for this problem (I'm taking the posts above as a "this has to work"-basis so i'm not ready to give up and go out there and buy a new soundcard )
Thanks in advance for any hint.

  • P6N SLI Microphone problem

    Hi.
I had a P4N diamond motherboard that got fried, so I replaced it with P6N SLI, and my mic stopped working - its greyed out in the sound controls.
Now from reading some of the posts I figured that I might need to set some jumpers on JAUD pins on mobo, cuz I had them on p4n and mic worked. Problem is that theres no description in the manual on which pins should I set jumpers on. I wanted to copy the jumper layout from p4n to p6n, but the pins are different.
Here r the pins on P6N SLI:
    1 MIC_L
    2 GND
    3 MIC_R
    4 PRESENCE#
    5 LINE out_R
6 MIC_JD - Jack detection return from front panel microphone JACK1
7 Front_JD - Jack detection sense line from the HD Audio CODEC
    8 NC
    9 LINE out_L
10 LINE out_JD - Jack detection return from front panel microphone JACK2
Does anyone know where should i set the jumpers?
I also thought of actually connecting front pannel to the mobo, but again theres a wire confusion.
I have TT Tsunami case, here r the wires I have from case:
    Ear R Red
    Return R White
    Ear L Green
    Return L Yellow
    MIC IN Red
    MIC VCC White
    GND Black

the pin out from the motherboard follows Intel HD Audio header standard. I can't recall a working solution... but if you could tell what pin out connection you have tried out and what did not work, maybe that will help all of us.... thanks.

  • Q6600/P6N SLI-FI Problems

Well last night I got my new parts in (Q600 and 2x 8800 GTs) and everything booted up fine and stock speeds. Then I moved onto OCing the q6600 and I am having problems. Every time I up the FSB I get a blue screen about 2 mins into windows. I have tried leaving the voltage alone and upping it a little bit, no success. I caught a glimpse of the BSOD and the one message was something about IRQs? No clue. Here are my specs

Wouldn't post at 2.1v so I left it at 2.0v but it still didn't fix it. I am stable at 1250 but it seems as soon as I break 1300 the problems start. I noticed on one of the blue screens that it was complaining about IRQs so I went to my device manager. There was some random PCI device saying its not installed? The only PCI device I have installed is my sound card and it was recognized. I disabled it but nothing really happened beside the fact that I could get to 1250. Here is some temps and BSODs shots.
    Temps:
Well I hit another wall. When I break the 300 range it does the same old thing. I am getting a mix of blue screens, one complains about the drivers and the other one is the one below. The IRQ one is the most frequent.
And here is the oter BSOD, sorry its not in english but its the only one I could find on google.

  • P6N SLI V2 problem with "dual core center"

I have the P6N SLI  V2 with E4400 and 7600gt running XP pro sp 2.
after installing and running MSI's "dual core center" (including .Net framework) I only have the "VGA" option enabled, the "MB" option is disabled as well as the D.O.T option. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling as well as downloading the latest version, but I have the same problem. I get no MB options at all (like no cpu temp, fan speed, core speed etc.). I didn't make any changes to the BIOS yet (other than changing the boot sequence), and ideas?

    A great one.
Don't use MSI's utilities. Anyone here will tell you that.

  • MSI P6N SLI boot problems

I recently bought a P6N SLI and new memory since my current board is getting old
When I got everything assembled and turned it on, all fans and lights started, but there were no beeps and no video
I made sure all power connectors were not loose and tried it with minimum components out of my case, still same problem
tried old memory in case new memory was faulty, no luck
I'm sure all old components are working (using them right now)
sent board in for RMA in case I got a bad board, new one did same thing
since the board didnt come with a D-Bracket, I threw one together (4 LEDs on the red pins, ground on USB) all 4 lit up "System PowerON The D-LED will hang here if the processor is damaged or not installed properly"

I am attaching a link to MSI's CPU support page..you can also get there by going to the top of the forum page, to the right of the MSI banner are all the links you need..handy.   I would think, that any P4 series or any Core 2 Series CPU would be supported from the initial bios release.  The "D" series are a bit out of the mainstream, but are supported once bios is updated.   If you have a decent computer repair store, they should be able to pop in a P4 or C2D CPU to get it into bios and flash it.  Hey, here's a thought...the Core 2 Duo chips are relatively inexpensive now..you can get a Core 2 Duo E4500 for about $125 US that will run circles around your D805...?   Good luck.

  • MSI P6N SLI PLATINIUM problem with ram 800MHz

    Hello.
I have problem with ram frequency.
I have MSI P6N SLI PLATINIUM and OCZ 2x2GB 800MHz CL5  but in bios I see that my ram runs in 667 MHz. Because I have 800MHz ram, so it shouldn't be default 800MHz and not 667MHz? What I have to do to show bios that I have 800MHz ram?

Oke, but they told me when i bought my new system that XP auto adjusts the speed of the memory.

    Hi, All.
MSI P6N SLI 4gb LOW Performance problem closed??
    Thanks

There´s a large thread about the 4GB problem, don´t know why you didn´t found it.
And YES the problems are gone.
From bios version 2.13 for sli and version 1.22new for sli platinum everything works well.
There are 4x1GB Crucials in my system and they are running without any problems now.

  • P6N Diamond sound problem

P6N Diamond has recently developed a sound problem. I am using Audioengine2 stereo speakers and the left speaker has started producing distortion (but no other sound) when switched on and connected to onboard Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme audio. The right speaker works fine. Distortion is produced when the computer is booted and not just in windows. Both speakers and cables all work fine connected to my ipod so I assume the problem is with the P6N diamond onboard audio and not my speaker setup.
I have also tried reinstalling creative drivers and disabling and re-enabling sound blaster in device manager but the problem persists.
Many thanks in advance for any assistance provided.

Are you asking how do you power the system on with it out of the case? Are you able to connect front panel power switch to JFP1 or are the wires too short? If needed just take a small screwdriver or whatever and for 1 second or so short pins 6-8 together to turn system on. That would be the same as pushing the power button on the case.

    Hi!
I am also facing this problem with my K8N NEO4 Platinum Ultra.
I have even tested my PC with a PSU which is having -5v in it's rating.
I have also requested a help from MSI Support.
Their & My reply is as follows.
But still my problem could not be solved.  My sound card as per the OS works fine and produces output.  But no audible output for humans to hear.
This is the case with both front and rear panels.
I have even sent the MB for RMA but here in India, people are fools.  Even from RMA the board was shipped back in the same faulty condition.  What to say?  Whom to curse?  Only money and 20days were spent waiting for repair and in wain.
If any body can help it will be very nice.
Here is my reply to MSI:
My K8n Neo4 Platinum Ultra - earlier was giving good quality sound output. Later after 15 days of using this board, it does not give any audible sound at all. But through headphone socket of cd player I am able to receive good quality sound.
And also while using CD Player to play audio tracks, the output is very intermitent and feeble with lots of cracking noise and poor quality audio is heard.
Through Windows Media Player no sound is heard at all.
I reinstalled win2000/Win2000Server/Win2003 XP Server. In all the platform sound problem exists. Any solutions?
My PSU has 20amps in +12V rail and has no -5v. 24 pin adaptor with 400W.
SATA HDD 80GB WD. 256*2=512mb DDR 400 Ram.
    CPU AMD 3000+ Winchester core.
    Thanks in advance.
    REPLY FROM MSI:
    Dear SoftWheels:
Thank you for contacting MSI Technical Support.
With regard to yoru concern, we would like to know before the onboard sound function abnormally, if you have made any adjustment to your system hardware or software?
And at this time would you please try to un-install the sound driver in the Add or Remove Program, then install the ALC Series AC'97 Audio Drivers refer to the link below, after this please first check if in Device Manager there is any yellow mark.

    AGAIN MY RESPONSE TO MSI:
    Dear Sir,
Thanks for your reply. But reply does not solve my problem. I have tried all that you said in your reply.
I have done nothing to hardware. No electrical problems or burning.
Due to no sound, I have even totally zero filled my SATA hard disk, updated bios, re-installed

  • MOVED: P6N Sli Platinum - Problem

Did you have the system OC'd at all? The crackling you heard 'may' have been a capacitor gone bad. By the CPU, on the NB side I believe, do you see a little 1/4 or so round clear sticker with a number on it? Does it say 01, 02, or 03? I recently retired my P6N, but it was a 'great' board for a number of years. If you want to keep the board, it may have to go in for service. Trying another CPU might damage it too if something is wrong with the boards circuitry. MSI can also do a parts upgrade to the board & make it compatible with 45nm CPU's like the E8400-E8600 from a 01 02 03 revision board.
Hmmmmm...no sticker at all, I check all over the board. This was a newegg purchase in Feb 08' if that can say anything about what version it may be. Also, I did not have the system OC'd at all. Everything was running "as is". The crackle I heard could be better described as when something is being fried. The odd thing is, there was no smells, no busted caps or anything. If I were to replace something first (with new) which would you suggest? I am thinking a new mobo since the mobo I have now could do more harm than good. Or should I get RAM to see if the RAM was fried when my PSU failed? I see 3btech.com has a P6N SLI V2 (what's the V2 mean?) for like $80. Although, if its RAM, it could most definately be a cheaper fix (and I have more ram lol). Again, thanks for the help, it is greatly appreciated!!!

  • K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI Sound Problem

I've recently build a system using the new K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI nForce4 board, which has the Creative SoundBlaster Live! 24bit onboard. The problem being the volume of the sound output (analogue) is extremely low. All volume controls in Windows are all set to full volume, but the sound output is still very very low. I consider myself pretty good with computers but with this problem I'm stumpted. Anybody else had this problem? Any insite would be very appricated.
    Various info:
With my old SoundBlaster Live! Value the sound is fine
    System Specs:
    K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI
    Athlon64 3500 Winchester
    1gb PC3200 (Crucial ValueSelect RAM)
    nVidia GeForce 6800 256mb
    WindowsXP Professional w/ SP2
    Any help will be appreciated

Ive been wanting to set up a new system based of this same motherboard, but all the power supplies Ive found so far have either been brands Im not familiar enough with or I havent been able to find a definitive answer on if the power supply supports that -5V pin(usually both, unfortunately). Can anyone point me in the right direction for a PSU under US$100? Any suggestions of power supplies anyone has had success with will also be greatly appreciated.
Ive spent about the past three days searching and have finally reached my wits end.
    Second edit:
I double checked the diamond forum link (it gave a link not found page the first time), I did get to see what was posted there, but since most online retailers and manufacturer websites dont give the best view of the main connector, thats not alot of help. The only websites Im comfortable ordering from also do not evne carry the suggested power supplies, or any other unit by those manufacturer.
    FINAL Edit (I promise...kinda):
I double checked on NewEgg (and then double checked FrozenCPU.com), and I found one from OCZ that doesnt totally blow my goal of USD100 or less out of the water. Lists a -5v supply, and is 24 pin for the motherboard:
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-104-155&depa=1
Same thing for 129.99 on FCPU, which is where Ill be ordering the power supply from.
I dont have any real need for the onboard adjustment dials of the more expensive series, and I really like the modular PSU design, not to mention the blue color scheme will work well in my blue-illuminated case.
Now, are there any other hurdles I need to be aware of?

  • P6N SLI mystery problem

I have the rig in my sig.  When I first built it it would not shut down when windows shut down.  You could hear the fans spin backup to full speed, the video would go out and the HDDs would spin down, but it was still on.  I didn't think much of it because it would be on 24/7 and Windows was stable.
Heres where the problems started.  One day it would not boot.  I take out one stick of RAM and it works for a while. Then it starts not turning on, no beep no display nothing, but all the diagnostic LEDs check out.  I have to go through a few on-unplug-on until it boots.  Then the BIOS tells me that the previous attempt at OCing failed and it is reverting to orginal settings, but I never OCed to begin with.  Also the on board network card is no longer detected by XP, even after multiple XP installs.
I figure its the RAM, so I RMA it with Kingston and put the new one in and same problem.
Then I RMA the processor, same problem.
I RMA the motherboard to MSI and they test it and say no problems were found.
Then it starts to boot into Windows, you can hear the fans kick down and the windows start up sound, but no Video output no either video ports.  So I just RMA the video card.
So any ideas?  The PSU is from a previous install so I know it to work.  The 12v+ is rated at 19A, but even with all the fans and HDDs unplugged same problem.  The PSU is 24pin, but only 4pin for the AUX connection.  It has never over heated.  HELP!

So I heard back from XFX.  Guess what they said.  Guess, just guess.  They said the card was defective and they are shipping me a new one.  I will let you guys know how it turns out.  Out of this entire ordeal, I have to say Kingston has the best support and Intel the worse.  Kingston let me RMA, even cross shipped it with out any questions.  Intel, MSI and XFX made me try the stupid things first ... is everything plugged in, try pushing the switch.  And no cross shipping (Intel wants a nonrefundable $25 to cross ship).  I even told them that I am the sys admin for one of the leading universities and work in IT at one of the largest oil companies in the world, yet they still want me to make sure the damn thing is plugged in.  They finally come to the same conclusion as I do.  boo.

  • P6N SLI boot problems

    Hello all,
I bought parts for a new system a few weeks ago, got WinXP pro up and running, updated windows, drivers, etc.  When I went to add an IDE HD (my primary HD is SATA), all hell broke loose, and I couldn't boot.  I took the IDE HD off, tried to boot... nothing.  It would partially load windows, and then restart.
I formatted the HD multiple times, but as soon as it would finish formatting, I would get errors:  Stop 0x00000024, Stop 0x00000023, NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM or FAT_FILE_SYSTEM.  I figured the HD was borked somehow, and I got a new one.
I threw the HD in, formatted, started to install windows...  Same thing.  It seems as soon as it starts to load XP, the system just restarts.  I boot from the WinXP cd to "repair," but as soon as I click R to repair, the system restarts.  If I try to format the system again, the system restarts.
At first, I figured the problem was with the HD, but with the second HD, I figure it must be something else.  Does anyone have any ideas?

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
I think that's all you guys really need to know, right?
    On to the problem:
I can load everything fine... I have WIndows XP, service pack 2 installed.
However, whenever I run a bit too much I get a blue screen. I can force this to happen, for the most part. Vanguard will sometimes run, usually blue screens on installs, etc.
Stop! Errors, Kernel In Page Data errors, etc.
I am going to try the moves specified so far, but I have also heard there is a 2.13 bios version that may fix this?  Any other help is greatly appreciated.
When you mentioned that you run a bit too much, what is that bit of "too much"? We need more detail scenerio of what is done before the BSOD.
Btw, I would appreciate that you open another thread of your own, explaining your problems there and we'll try to help as much as we could. Lastly, remember your PSU specs amps as well.
