Pdf Portfolio Application.........

Hi Team,
Could you please tell me hhow i can develop a Pdf Portfolio solution using Adoble Liberary.
I am using .Net and C# to do the same so please tell the exact solution how i can do this.
Thank You !!!
Regards,
Deepak Rai

UPDATE:
Through trial and error I've discovered it seems to work when the images I place into inDesign are 110dpi, as opposed to 72.
110 pixels/inch seems to be what Acrobat considers 100%?
Can anyone confirm and/or explain this? I'm confused as hell...
UPDATE 2:
A clue! I found in the acrobat prefferences menu that you can actually set the dpi to whatever you like - and mine is currently set to 110.
This still poses a problem for me, however, as I don't know what dpi the end-user's computer will be set to.
Is there anyway to make a document override the user's dpi setting?
I want my document to force the end user's copy of acrobat to view it in 72dpi, so that I can rest assured they'll view a crisp image at 100% zoom.
Can I do this?

  • PDF portfolio in browser display issues

PDF Portfolio created in Acro Pro 9 with layout of grid/preview
PCs using IE 8 to view portfolio in web broswer
When one loads the portfolio, the portfolio loads in IE8 Ok BUT it does not display as intended as the browser add-in always starts in 'layout' view rather than 'File' view. This means that the grid of all the PDFs in the portfolio are not shown. The file list appears if you select 'File' view and this is an OK compromise.
Is there any way to make the browser view load as 'file' rather than 'layout'? - I can't find an option in Acro Pro for this.
Portfolio opens as intended if we turn off the view in browser option but I need to keep that option ticked for other applications.
    thanks

  • Dynamic Header help in PDF Portfolio

Need some help please, to create and load a Dynamic Header when creating a PDF Portfolio in LiveCycle ES2.  Have input parameter of a [name] and an [image file] to place in the Header.  Process flowing out of Assembler (PDF Generator).  Currently other PDFs being inserted within the Portfolio, and Navigation parameter being received ok, and setting up custom navigation.  Any help w/ creating Dynamic Header is very much appreciated.

By "Dynamic Header" do you mean the PDF cover page, or the interactive portfolio navigator?
If its the cover page then it should be a fairly easy thing to do.  You can create a form (XDP or PDF template) with a field for the name and one for the image.  Then you would use something like LC Forms or Form Data Integration to merge the data (image and name) with the template.
The one thing you would have to do is to put the image and data into an XML format before you merge it with the form. That means you will need to convert the image to a base64 encoded format.  Fortunately there is a built in function for doing the conversion in a SetValue operation (its under Document Object Functions).
If you are talking about the Navigator (portfolio shell) then it gets a bit more tricky.  The navigator is actually a Flex application and not a PDF.  You'll have to code a new one using Flash Builder, then import the resulting .nav file into your LiveCycle application. Merging the data with it is not something I've done before, but it should be possible (the LiveCycle Interactive Statement Solution Accelerator does something similar).
If it is new navigator you need, check out some of the following links:

  • Attachments in pdf Portfolio

I keep getting the error message:  Acrobat cannot open the file attachment because your PDF file attachment settings do not allow this file type to be opened.
I have a .exe file within a pdf portfolio.  I have already changed the Trust settings, but it still wont open or extract this file type.  Is there a fix for this?
    Using Acrobat X

    Hi,
I have Acrobat 9.5 on my machine and I am not able to see any problem in opening non PDF file attachments.
Please give the exact version of Acrobat you are using ( to see the version go to  Help -> About Adobe Acrobat).
Update your Acrobat to latest version i.e 9.5.
As you have mentioned that in Preferences-> Trust Manager-> Allow opening of non PDF file attachment with external applications is grayted out,
is it a custom installation of Acrobat ?? because in normal installation this option is not grayed out.
    Thanks.

  • How can I create a dynamic XML driven PDF Portfolio?

I have built an XML application for which I maintain a library of individual PDF page "templates" used to assemble large (1000+ pages) PDF documents. The page templates are saved as PDFs without page numbers as they can be reused anywhere in any manual, the page numbers are applied during the document assembly process. I am now attempting to implement an update process, in which one template change can impact dozens of large documents. I am therefore looking at moving away from creating these large PDF documents and creating something more along the lines of a Package, Portfolio or other solution in which document pages/templates in the library are linked to rather than combined, so that changes across multiple large documents can be done quickly and transparently to the user. I am sure there is a solution using an Adobe spec like Portfolio or XDP, I just need a nudge down the right path, as nothing in what I've read explicitly states that these technologies can be used for this purpose. I would prefer to stay within technologies I am comfortable with to create/modify the necessary files, whcih are XML/XSLT and ANT. I would also like to know if it's possible to add page numbers on the footer of each page in the Portfolio without modifying the template, and if the resulting Portfolio can be saved as a normal PDF or printed with the dynamic page numbers included.
I know this might be a tall order but if anyone can help clarify what's possible with existing Adobe technologies it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Keith

Indeed - PDF Portfolios are a collection of static files attached to a one-page cover sheet, you cannot have references to externally-stored documents.
You can replace individual files in a Portfolio (by adding a file of the same name) but nothing happens automatically, and the file when added to the Portfolio will have no idea about where it originally came from. There's no concept of "check for updates".

  • PDF Portfolio not allowing a period [.] to be typed

I am working on a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.6.8 & using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro (9.5.1).
I am trying to create a PDF portfolio consisting of a number of other PDF's of catalog work I have done for clients.
Everything is working fine other than when trying to edit the header of the PDF Portfolio. I have selected the "Logo & Structured Text" option for the header. This includes an area for your URL & Email. Though no matter what I do I cannot type a period in the URL or Email. For that matter, no field in the header will allow me to enter a period. It acts like a backspace/delete button.
All other characters seem to be working in the header & the pediod works in all other applications correctly.
Anyone have any ideas on why this is happening & how I can fix the issue? Thank you for any insight you have.

You're welcome. It is unusual to force all lines in a Paragraph to stay together, but there is no one size fits all rule to this.
More often, the keep option used would be Keep with Next, used for a Headline. It would be unsightly to have Headline at the bottom of a text frame and the text start at the top of the next column.

  • PDF portfolio similar to cs5_evalautionkit

    Hi,
I am trying to create a pdf portfolio similar to cs5_evalautionkit.
All the documents in the portfolio are pdf documents.
I want the users to navigate pages through a button on the cover page (enter the document ) and then from a side menu to other sections of the portfolio.
I would also like the thumbnails to cover most of the screen rather than a small portion of it.
I am trying to do this as  I dont want the users to use scroll function to go to any page on the document want them to aleays start from the cover page. Then go to another landing page ang from there they can choose the document they want to view where scroll function would work.
If this can be achived without creating a portfolio , I would prefer that.
    kind regards
    DC

"Is there a way to create a Portfolio without using Flash?"
    Nope.
"Or, is there another Adobe product that has similar functionality as the Portfolio, where we can combine multiple PDFs without using Flash?"
Nope. A Portfolio is a PDF that wraps the content (the files attached to the PDF) and Flash is the source of the user interface.
Without this you do not have a PDF Portfolio eh.
Any PDF can have supported files of supported file formats attached to it.
Use a robust authoring application that is "PDF aware" to make the PDF holding the attached files pretty.
Maybe spice it up with some Acrobat JavaScript.
    Not Flash.
Give Bob Connolly's site a look-see; you might see some possibilities there.

  • No "PDF Portfolio task pane" on Intel Mac!!!

Acrobat 9 Pro has different behaviors between Intel Mac and PowerPC Mac !!!
On Intel Mac, I cannot change the default layout of any PDF Portfolios, because the "PDF Portfolio task pane" doesn't show, so there's no way to touch the "CHOOSE A LAYOUT" button.
But on PowerPC Mac, everything is fine.
I think it's a serious bug which only affect Intel Mac. Please confirm this.
    Thanks.
(I attached screenshot of new created PDF Portfolio window under Intel Mac and PowerPC Mac)

    Hi, Steve
I just found the key to trigger this "bug". In Acrobat or Reader's Preferences, choose "International", and there's a "Choose Font" option. I can choose between "Application Default Font" and "GB18030 compliant Font" (I don't know if this later GB18030 option shows in non-Chinese environment).
If I choose the GB18030 option, I won't see the "PDF Portfolio task pane". I think I don't need this option, so I recover the old settings. (Obviously my Acrobat system files are not broken, but I cannot explain why simply delete all preferences in my home directory didn't work -- maybe this option are not stored in my home directory).

  • Trouble adding a custom PDF Portfolio layout to Acrobat 9

I asked this question over in the Acrobat Windows and Mac forums, but no luck. I think I was in the wrong place...anyways...apologies for cross-posting, but I'm stuck and up against a deadline!
I've developed a custom navigator for an Acrobat 9 Pro PDF Portfolio. However, I’m having trouble getting it to show up as a layout option when I open Acrobat to create a PDF portfolio. The basic layouts are there, but I can't find my layout or the "other layouts" category.
I've tried this in both Windows and Mac environments on two different computers. In Windows, I tried installing the .nav file in the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat9\Navigators directory; on Mac, I tried both /Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/9.0_x86/Navigators/ and Applications/Acrobat 9 Pro/Contents/Resources/en.lproj/Navigators/ directories. I've shut down Acrobat and reopened the application, as well as restarted my computer. I still can't get the new navigator to show up.
Is there perhaps a plug-in or something from the SDK that I need to install into Acrobat first in order for my custom .nav to show up? I'm sure it's something simple and obvious that I'm overlooking - but I haven't been able to figure out what. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
    Jill

I thought so. I followed the instructions in a tutorial I saw on Acrobatusers.com. I updated the config.xml, navigator.xml, and the assets (arrows, background), then used WinZip to open an existing .nav file as an archive and swap out the files I changed. Maybe the mimetype file is getting compressed when I close WinZip? Is there another/better way to create the .nav file?

  • PDF Portfolio compatible on PC and Mac?

    Hello,
I have a very large InDesign file that I will need to seperate into individual PDF files.
I've never used PDF Portfolio before, but have seen some samples and love how it allows 'interconnectivity' between multiple PDF files.
My end-users are on PC and Mac platforms. I am on a PC system. Would my PDF portfolio work on a Mac?
Also, some end-users use extremely old versions of Acrobat. I imagine that the 'PDF Portfolio' may not work on them. Will they still be able to view the individual PDF files?
Delivery method is the files will be burned onto a CD.
    Thanks!

With a Mac, it is usually not required to delete an Apple application before re-installing the app if needed. You can re-install the app over the existing, and the same applies to an app provided as a bundle - installed via drag and drop to your hard drive from a mounted disk image after the app was downloaded instead of being installed with an installer. Most 3rd party apps for the Mac are made available and installed as a bundle.
Have you run Software Update located at System Preferences > Software Update since purchasing your Mac?
If so and any update that was available has been installed, try running Disk First Aid which will require booting your Mac from the Snow Leopard install disc included with your Mac purchase. This link provides instructions for doing so.

  • Some elements of downloaded PDF not showing (Error: "For the best experience, open this PDF portfolio...")

I'm on a PC attempting to view a downloaded PDF. It's an application so the document is generated by our online system and aggregates info from the applicant as well as documents they uploaded. I can see most of the final product but the document uploaded by the applicant gives the error "For the best experience, open this PDF portfolio in Acrobat 9 or Adobe Reader 9, or later." I downloaded the latest Reader (DC) and when I searched to download the latest Flash Player I got a message that it should be up-to-date since I use Chrome. I've seen other folks having this problem; any suggestions?? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your response! The document appears the same either way. I downloaded the file and have opened it with both Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

  • Need to create a PDF Portfolio programatically using the Adobe SDK in C# from a Windows Service.

What classes/methods should I be using?
We need to create a PDF portolio from a windows service written in C#.
We need to merge several PDF documents into a single PDF portfolio from our windows service (programatically).
I have seen documentation in the Adobe help on how to do it using the Adobe UI, but we need to do this step programatically from our windows servie.
    Thanks!

You can't access Acrobat from a service - since we won't run in Service mode...only in standard Application mode.  In addition, we don't run on a server.
But if you were doing this from a standard application - then you'll want to read the JavaScript documentation in the SDK as well as the documents about the .NET/JS bridge.

  • Besides a PDF Portfolio is there another way to add Pages to a PDF that have fields of the same name and still have them Unique?

Besides the PDF portfolio is there another way to add pages to a PDF file that have the same name in form fields and still keep the different pages unique

    ■ Use '''Tools -> Options -> Applications ->''' <br> then look under content for Adobe Acrobat forms etc;
<br> note a choice of options is usually available
    * see [[Options window - Applications panel]]
Firefox is of course a web browser. <br>Acrobat reader is Adobe's program used to read and display the pfd files on your computer. Other programs may be used instead of Acrobat reader. You would normally have the Acrobat program and the pdf file present on the local computer, often both on the same hard drive, if you were opening individual pdf files directly with Acrobat.
Firefox uses a plugin so that it may use Acrobat to open pdf files and display the results within a firefox window or tab. If you do not have that plugin installed, or it is not enabled firefox may be unsure what to do with the file and offer to save it to whatever your default local download location is, without attempting to open the file in firefox.

  • How do I install the complimentary PDF Portfolio Templates for Acrobat XI

I download the complimentary PDF Portfolio Templates.  How do I install them to Acrobat XI?

It depends on the OS you are working. Navigator files (Portfolio templates) usually go in the following locations:
    Windows
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\Acrobat\Navigators
    Mac
    /Applications/Adobe Acrobat XI Pro/Adobe Acrobat Pro/Contents/Resources/Navs/

  • Bug in applying read only security status to a PDF portfolio?

      Hi,
A quick question about setting up a pdf portfolio as 'read only', so users cannot save amended versions of the document within the portfolio, they can only go to 'save as'.
I have set this up, using Adobe Professional 9, using the following process = File > Portfolio Properties > Security tab and then selecting 'Password Security' (setting a password) and then setting the permission from 'Allow Changes' to 'None'.
My colleague, who has Adobe X, can go into the portfolio, without knowing/entering any password and change documents. If she exits individual documents whilst still in the portfolio, and goes back into them, she can still see her changes (although when she exits her Adobe software completely and goes back into it, opening the portfolio, these changes have not been saved).
Can anyone tell me why this happens, and how to stop it, so she can't even get to saving it within the portfolio in the first place? Or is it something that has to be set up on Adobe X, rather than Adobe 9?
    Thanks all!

PDF files in the Portfoloio are treated as simple attachments. To Acrobat, a PDF attachment is basically the same as a Word or image file. When you open the attachment, the Portfolio just opens the corresponding application. If the file gets modified by that application and the Portfolio security is set to not allow changes, anything done in the external application is ignored.
The best way to prevent this is to set security on the files prior to adding them to the Portfolio, this will prevent users from getting the idea that they can modify the contents. Then secure the Portfolio itself.
