Permission and access of applications

I have a principle question to permission and access, (in German Rechte und Zugriff)
I have create a list of my Applications with there permission.
I found 7 different groups of name of access, view to apps from admin window.
There are alway 3 different permissions per application
"My name" ( I ) = Admin.
Read&Write or this is no shown
Joachim = Standarduser.
Read&Write or this is no shown
staff
Only Read or this is no shown
System
Read&Write or Only Read or this is no shown
wheel
Read&Write or this is no shown
admin
Read&Write or Only Read or this is no shown
everyone
Read&Write or Only Read or this is no shown
All 40 Apple Application have:
System = Read&Write
admin = Read&Write
everyone = Only Read
Only by "System default" there is:
System = Read&Write
wheel = Read&Write
admin is no shown
everyone = Only Read
Service Applications I have no checked.
All Apple Applications the same systematics. The later buyed apps Aperture and iWork have the same permissions like the apps which are installation first of my Mac.
By the other non-apple-applications there is a chaos.
Have someone an idea what the systematic of permissions is.
Sometime I have installed the apps as standard user with rights of admin, that is possible.
My Mac works well but I would learn why is this chaos.
Thanks for helps or have someone a link to help document.

These different permissions may have been created by you making changes. For example, "everyone" should never be r/w, but should be read-only. The DevonThink was probably installed via Drag and Drop in which case it would take on these permissions:
Owner=you with r/w privileges
Group=you or staff with r/w or read-only privileges
Everyone is read-only
The key thing here is that for all users to be able to run an application, then the application must have the owner set to system with r/w privileges. The other users can be read-only. The admin group is usually provided r/w privileges.
If an application has the owner set to a username, then only that user can access the application. For a single user machine where the user logs in either as admin or standard with the same username, then it doesn't really matter. It would only matter if a different user tried to use the application but did not have membership in the group.
Everyone is set to read-only because you don't want 'everyone' to be able to access and change files without supervision.
All 'admin' user accounts belong to the admin group. Only admin users who are also 'super users' have system-wide access.

  • Problem with applications and accessing database

    Hi
    I have a serious problem with my applications.I was trying to change "users"'s folder icon so I changed the setting in information.I don'y know what I did but It made these problems:
    many of applications does not open for example
    itunes-->The folder "iTunes" is on a locked disk or you do not have permission...
    picasa alerts me with a database error
    yahoo messenger just pops up once and doesn't open.
    firefox the same problem
    net monitor alerts with a database problem.
    evernote same problem
    all of my address book is erased.
    I think somehow I removed the db files or I changed the permission and the programs can not access to their db files.

    don't know the last thing I have done was trying to change the icon and after that I found out about the problem.Maybe sth else caused the problem . anyway I copied all of my files to a new user and I removed the user with problems & everything is ok here.thank u all.

  • My iPhone 4 has been saying You do not have permission to access the requested resource whenever I try to watch one of the episodes I bought from iTunes. It will not let me watch them and I don't know why.

    A few days ago I bought a season of the series Psych off of iTunes. I was able to watch the first bunch without a problem but now all of a sudden when I try to watch one it says "You do not have permission to access the requested resource". I tried restarting my phone but that do not help. I cleared up a lot of space on my phone as well. I have and iPhone 4 with the update of iOS 6.1.3.

    Are you using the same Apple ID that the purchase was linked to?  I had this issue with a shared device, and the other person had logged out of my ID and logged in with hers.
    If it's the same ID, then try redownloading the purchase.

    Please repost in the Final Cut Pro forum. Have you considered upgrading your machine, if you are still running Leopard your machine may be as old as 5 years old. While this should not matter you probably won't get the performance you want out of a demanding app like FCP.
    Best of luck.

    Yes- it is a Mac. I went through adobes system requirements and re- downloaded supportive software. The notice seems to happen near the end of the down load with the messages above. I'll look into your suggestion. Thank you- appreciated.

  • I have created another user on our iMac but cannot figure out how to access aperture, excel and other purchased applications on the new desk top

    I have created an additional user on our iMac and have tried to set up file share but nothing happens.  I have an empty desktop and only the applications that came with the computer appear.  I'd like to have access to the others that we've purchased... Aperture, excel, etc.  I've followed the instructions for file sharing but I must be missing something.
    Thanks for any assistance.

    Rebecca1952,
    You are over complicating things.  File sharing has nothing to do with what applications that each user has access to.
    To me it sounds like you just need some basic help getting the applications that you need onto your dock.
    Try this:
    Login to you new user account
    Click on an empty part of your desktop
    Click on the "Go" menu and select "Applications"
    A Finder window should open showing ALL of the applications on the Mac.
    Double-click one of them that you will use frequently (e.g. Excel)
    Once it is up and running you should see it's icon down on your dock.
    Right-click that icon on the dock, then select "Options", and "Keep in Dock"
    Once you have added each application to the dock in this manner, then it will remain there even after you quit the application.
    For one more expert way to launch any application on your mac quickly, try this:
    Hold the [command] key and hit the [spacebar] (this will start a Spotlight search)
    Start typing the name of the application you want to run (e.g. "Aperture")
    Once you see "Aperture" selected, simply hit the [return] key and Aperture will launch
    Hope this solves you problem.

  • Customised Oracle Application and access to roles - Discoverer 10.1.2.0.2

    Hi Gurus!
    We are developing a customised Oracle application where we have users and roles...user - role mapping is done in the system administration module of the application.
    Now, we are also developing Oracle discoverer reports based on this. Using 10g (10.1.2.0.2) for that.
    When I am creating an EUL, I select 'New EUL for Oracle Applications users only' option, but, I do not have any 'FND schema' to specify. That's where I'm stuck up!
    I want to give access to the 'roles' in tha same manner as I would give to the 'responsibilities' in Oracle Apps. But, I don't know how to do it here.
    Can someone guide me on this?
    Thanks and regards,
    Aparna

    Hi Aparna
    If your application is not E-Business Suite you cannot install Discoverer into Apps mode. This mode is reserved for applications which are E-Business Suite, which basically tells Discoverer to use authenticate users using the FND tables owned by the APPLSYS user.
    In your case, even though you appear to be using Oracle applications, because you want to take advantage of your roles you will have to install Discoverer into standard mode. As you are creating your EUL you need to uncheck the box which says grant access to PUBLIC and make this a private EUL. Then you will not have the headache of worrying about setting up new users. You simply manage what a role can do (Tools | Privileges) and what a role has access to (Tools | Security).
    Now, when any any user connects to Discoverer their role will be evaluated and access will be restricted.
    You can do the same thing using a PUBLIC EUL, except you need to reduce what that user can do (Tools | Privileges) to an absolute minimum, and then take control of this using roles. For example, you could have a set of functional roles, one each for say AP, AR, GL and so on, but you could further break this down by privilege, thus you could have roles called AP Viewer, AP User, AR Viewer, AR User and so on. The User roles would have full access while the Viewer roles would have a much reduced set of privileges.
    You are basically setting up the Library approach that I discuss in my Discoverer 10g Handbook and in my white paper which you will find on my downloads page here: http://learndiscoverer.com/downloads/downloads.htm.
    I hope this helps
