Personal Data Overview in ESS portal
Hi All.
I'm new to Webdynpro for ABAP and need help on creating the "Overview" details in the Personal Details view as displayed in the current EP7 portal. I've managed to build my own web service for the "EDIT", "REVIEW" and the "CONFIRMATION" views and we have substitued it in the portal. It now looks the same as the JAVA applicaion (with a feew extra bits).
I have no example of how to create the "Overview" view. In particular, if there are 2 infotype records, it displays them. I thought it might have something to do with the definition of the node in the COMPONENTCONTROLLER and the cardinality (0..n). Then buildng the logic in WDINIT to bind elements.
I've tried most things but can't get it to work.
Looking forward to any advise that is out there.
Regards
Sam Fazio.
Hi Rameshb,
1) Open the ECC
2) Open the transaction (TCode) SPRO
3) SAP Reference IMG --> Personal Management --> Employee Self-Service --> Service-Specific Settings --> Address Book --> Whos is Who --> Whos is Who (ESS) : Selection and Output
4) In Definition of Selection and output fields --> Selection fields --> include the parameter "P0002-MIDNM" (Middle name)
Good Luck

Approval process for Personal Data Change in ESS
Hi Experts,
We need to implement approval process from Manager whenever the employee changes his Personal Data through EP in ESS.
Is there any standard method or process for doing that. Or any way of doing it without customization.
Thanks
AshHi,
Do the Admin Personalizations in Portal, follow the note
1234273 and do the Personalization accordingly.
Hope this helps.

Hide or remove delete button - ESS personal data iView
Hi, regarding for example ESS(50.4) personal data overview iView.
How to hide or remove delete button in the personal data overview iView screen(I know that this can be done on the ITS server side (web studio), but I want to do this in R3)
/Best Regards
PatrickAchim was right on. Edit/Change the Internet Service in R/3. A few things to consider though....
(1) if using the original service, you may want to create a copy of theme 99 into your own theme (any number will do...99 is just the default theme). If doing so, be sure to change the service's service file (yeh, I always loved that about SAP's naming) to point the ~theme paramter to your new theme.
or
(2) Copy the entire service into your own "Z" service. Then modify the templates as you wish. You will need to point the iView to this "Z" service too.
Also, it is best to do it via SE80 vs. file level because then it will be part of a transport and follow the correct path through the landscape.
Now, if you really want to go back to R/3....find the function module or program the transaction code for your service actually calls, make a "Z" version of it, modify it, create your own "Z" t-code to call it, and THEN modify the internet service's service file (either the original SAP one or a custom version) to call your new "Z" t-code. Lot of work...yes, I know....but that's the way it's done if you gotta get back down to the ABAP level.
Hope this helps!

Changes to the ESS Personal Data iview
Hi There
With regard to the 'Personal Data' iview on ESS.
I have a scenario where fields marked as REQUIRED are DISABLED.
How do i enable them ?
When trying to change the field configuration by previewing the Personal Data iview and then doing 'control + right click' on the relevant disabled field the changes DO NOT take effect.
When changing an enabled field the change take effect.
Any ideas as to what may be causing this ?
Any advice with regard to resolving this issue will be appreciated.Hi,
The ESS/MSS fields can be enabled/disabled from spro settings at the backend.
Please check with HR consultant to see the status of that field.
The pathmay be:
>Personnel Management > personnel administration > own data > personal data
Thanks

Dear experts.
I am configuring ESS for Colombia. We are using WDA. ERP 6.0 ehp 6.
The structure of conversion used is: HCMT_BSP_PA_XX_R0002
For this country the system use a Infotype SECONDARY 0837 that is showed in the screen of the Infotype 0002.
View:v_t582v
When I have entries for the Infotype 0002 in the table v_t582v the system not show data in the screen of the service "Personal Data" in the ESS. If I delete the entry of this record the system show the information.
I have used SAP_ALL , however the issue continue.
I have checked data in the ERP .
What is the cause?

Integration of ESS Portal and SAP
Hi,
Project Systems report RPSISKB000 - Capacity Requirements Overview (t-code CN50N) is a report works correctly when analyzing time that was entered via the R/3 GUI in transaction CAT2 u2013 Time Sheet: Maintain Times. However, when executing against time entered via Employee Self Service (ESS) Time Sheet Entry, the u201CActual Worku201D hours are not pulling through to the report.
I believe this is because when time is entered via ESS Time Sheet Entry the fields Capacity ID (KAPID) and Split Number (SPLIT) in table CATSDB are not populated. These two fields are populated when time is entered via the R/3 GUI in transaction CAT2.
I need how to populate these two fields when time is entered via ESS. How data flows from ESS Portal to SAP.
How SAP and ESS Portal integrated for data flow in between.
Thanks,
SureshYou have to ensure that these fields in The CATS profile are set as input in CAC2 ie fields should be input and not is display
Please check it

Personal Data - Field value PERID deleted when saving
Hi,
When the user updates the personal data view in ESS the field Social Security - PERID gets updated with blank value (i.e. if you only change nationality or any other field). I'm not sure what is causing this, I'm not getting the same problem when updating the infotype directly in the backend.
Does anyone know what might be causing this?

When we access ESS on Portal ,and navigate to Personal Information /Personal Data / , there a small table control icon appears which we donot want to appear and which does not appear on R/3 side.Simultaneously for this transaction in R3 a selection row appears which doesnot appear in Portal. This problem is given even when we run ESS transactions through ITS on webgui.Wt might be the cause of this error ,do we need to make any settings ( Table specific) in ITS or R/3 or somewhere else. Kindly plz suggest.Plz revert at earliest. My email Id is [email protected] .

ThanksHi Manish,
Check with your system patch level both from ABAP and JAVA in the same Service Pack levels. if they are different then only we will get this type of errors. Even we i have faced the same problem, but solved with the basis help.
Have you gone through PA30, there Empl data has to be maintained. Then we can get the Data.

Employee overview and enhancing personal data
Hello,
at the moment I am testing the ESS and Portal KM. I would like to have an overview over all employees with enhanced informations about them. This could vary from favorite books to a complete consultant's profile with and overview about all the projects in the history.
What is the best way to implement it? Is there something to enhance (like personal data, employee search) or is it better do develop something by myself? What would be the best way/tools to implement something like this?
Thx, SaschaHi this looks like a complete custom application, there is a field in personal detials infitype 2 (Area of interest) but all other fields are more of dob, first name, lastname etc ...etc..
i would recommend serious custom developemnt for this requirement where you can keep pernr (employee code ) as the key field, create a custom ztable in it have field like
Hobbies, Interset, favourite books etc etc ..
can can build a complete Employee profiler.
on WDJ first screen you can search employee on first name last name basis, upon clciking it you can show all his profile, interest, hobby, education, previous employer, experience etc..
This employee profiler become a very nice applicaiton on ESS as well as for the HR. We also have Employee photo in it.
Cheers!!

Edited by: Prasanna Joshi on May 20, 2011 12:32 AMHi Prasanna,
This one is the front end Web Dynpro Java defect. So there wont be anything in the ST22.
Here is the problem you are facing. As its Personal Data application i.e. IT0002, it doesnu2019t have any subtypes. But the code is trying to read the subtypes and its not able to find the records. (Its trying to read the subtypes node, as there is no subtype for PData, you are getting java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException: Index: 0, Size: 0)
This is quiet common error, I have seen it couple of times. There should be SAP note for this or raise the ticket to SAP they will fix it.
Itu2019s a simple issue we too can fix it but the correct process is to get it addressed by SAP.

Critical error while opening the personal data in portal
Dear friends
In the portal after clicking on the personal data tab i am getting the following error .
A critical error has occured processing of the service has to be terminated .Unsaved data has been lost.
Please contact your system administrator .
Screen output without connection to user., error key :RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE.
Here please note that when i am accessing the same personal data tab in the development it is working fine but this problem is with production only.
Can anybody please let me know the solution for this error.
Best Regards.Dear krishna,
Hope you are doing good.
As suggested, there is a backend dump generated; you need to heck it and fix in the backend. /nst22 , /nstad and /n sm21 will give you more info.
Also do double check all the JCo's for ESS.
Thank you and have a nice day :).
Kind Regards,
Hemanth
