Personal Desktop in Portal

We would like to create a page in Portal that would allow users to create their own work desktop.  They would be able to pick content and iViews for a list specific to their role, and could place them where they wanted within the page.
SAP appeared to be going there with the ability to Personalize a page.  However, the user interface was very combursome for an end-user to learn.  WPC appears to be much more user friendly.  Does anyone know if they plan on allowing users to personalized their own page using WPC?
Thanks,
Andrew

Yes, it would be nice to have such a feature! However, if you want an official answer about this I suggest you ask SAP directly.

  • IMessage works on "Guest," not personal desktop

A few months ago I was having problems with my iPhone, and to make a long story short I ended up getting two replacement phones within a day from my local Apple store. Ever since I started using my new phone, iMessage on my MacBook Pro OS X 10.9.5 hasn't been working. I've looked through just about every thread on here trying to find a solution and I can't find one. iMessage works on the "Guest" desktop but not on my personal desktop. I've run out of ideas and have tried just about everything to fix this problem, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Here is almost all of what I've tried:
    - Repairing permissions
    - Trashed related preference files
    - Booting in safe mode and attempted to log in
    - Created another account on my Mac and attempted to log in to iMessage/Face Time
    - Reset time zone and date/time settings to "auto."
    - Disabling iCloud on my computer and re-logging in
    - Disabling Flash from storing data locally
    - PRAM reset
    - Checked my Apple ID to ensure there are no other phone numbers/emails associated
other users can not log in using their accounts.

    Hello,
Standard CRM PC UI application offers three options when you push 'New' button: 'Person', 'Organization' and 'Group' (combobox appears). In your case, 'Person' should be selected.
p.s. If you don't see combobox mentioned above, it could be security issue.

  • Updating Template on Managed Personal Desktop Collection

I've created a Personal Desktop collection in Server 2012 R2 and selected "Automatically Manage Virtual Desktops" so machines are created automatically using a template.  I've successfully added several Virtual Desktops to the collection,
now I need to update the template to included new patches or software.  I'm not worried about updating the existing virtual desktops because they will get the patches and software from SCCM.  However, I do want the changes to be part of the template
so they are immediately there for new virtual desktops that are added.  I haven't found a way to do this is the Server Manager or Powershell, there is an option for recreating pooled desktops, but no way that I see to use a different or newer template
on an existing Personal Desktop collection.
Do I need to manually export the template machine to the Collections IMGS folder and overwrite what is there?  Also, it doesn't make sense to delete/recreate or make a new collection for a template update.

    Hi Darin,
    Thank you for contacting Microsoft.
I have discussed this issue with our team. There is no supported way to do this. You would need to update the template VM and
then re-export it, both of which have to be done manually.  Some things to keep in mind though…if you just update the .vhd and you’ve changed VM Settings as well, those settings will not get picked up until the VM is re-exported.

  • Cannot load my personal desktop after windows updates

Since a windows update when I switch on I get a temporary desktop, cannot access my personal desktop unless I do a restore to an earlier date.  Tells me I cannot access my files and to log off and on again, no use.  Do get the message temporary desktop see your administrator etc.  Any help PLEASE.

    Hi,
    You could try the following.
Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at f8 as you start the notebook to enter Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode and hit enter.  If windows will load in this mode, from the Start Menu, click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools and launch System Restore.  Pick a restore point at least 24 hours before the log-on issue and then proceed with the restore process.  When complete, Windows will reboot as normal so check if you can now log in correctly.
Another option if the above does not help is as follows.
Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at f8 as you start the notebook to enter Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select 'Start Using Last Known Good Configuration' and hit enter.

  • Single desktop, multiple portals

    Hi all,
Does anyone have any experience or suggestions for accessing multiple
portals from a single portal desktop. Let me explain by way of an
example. Suppose you have three portals - Employee, Salesforce, and
Administration. Everyone has access to the Employee portal, salesmen
would have access to Employee and Salesforce, administrators would have
Employee and Administrations, and sales managers would have all three.
When the user logs in, if they have access to more than just Employee
portal a portlet (or tabs, or something) would appear as part of the
portal page allowing switching between portals. This switcher is
    available in all portals.
I have a pretty good idea how to handle the "switcher" and creating the
appropriate URLs. The main problem I'm having is the sharing of the
login credentials. How can I have a single login authenticate and
authorize the user for all the correct portals?
    Thanks for any info!

    Eddie,
The group portal capabilities are available in WPL 4.0. The only
customization you would need to implement is the switcher.
The out of the box framework will recognize if the person belongs to more
than one group portal and will offer a selector to choose group portal to
    login to.
Please keep in mind that a group portal is a virtual portal based on a
    physical portal webapp.
Take a look at the portalTools application. It will give you a good idea
what you can do with a group portal.

  • Error creating desktop in Portal 8.1.6

When I try to create a new desktop using the Administration Portal, I get this error message:
    javax.ejb.EJBException: SQL Error while trying to createPageDefinition: SQL [insert into PF_PAGE_DEFINITION ( PAGE_DEFINITION_ID, MARKUP_DEFINITION_ID, IS_PUBLIC, IS_HIDDEN, INTERSECTION_ID, PAGE_LABEL, WEBAPP_NAME) values (?,?,?,?,?,?,?)] database error code [1] SQL state [23000] .; nested exception is: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00001: unique constraint (PTEST.AX1_PAGE_DEF) violated
I've tried with Oracle 10g R2 and Oracle XE, with the same result.
    Does anybody know a solution?

I don't think it's two page definitions with the same labels, because I can create the desktop from the .portal file when the database is empty. However, if I delete the desktop with the Administration Portal I get the error message when I try to recreate it. I also get the error message if I try to create a new desktop, even if the .portal file i unchanged.
When the library contains data I get the warning "Portal Template Contains Duplicate Resources" and choose "Replace conflicting Portal Resources with Template version".
My really annoying workaround is to recreate the database with the create_db script from the domain, and then create a desktop from the .portal file.
Sorry, I wasn't clear on this in my first posting.

    Dear krishna,
    Hope you are doing good.
As suggested, there is a backend dump generated; you need to heck it and fix in the backend. /nst22 , /nstad and /n sm21 will give you more info.
Also do double check all the JCo's for ESS.
Thank you and have a nice day :).

  • SRM 7.0 temporary contact person creation on portal

    Hi,
We are implementing the temporary contact person creation on SRM RFx.We are running SRM7.02 and are running it using the SAP portal.
We are able to add the supplier on the RFx and if the supplier does not have a contact person, as expected, the system is automatically creating a user name and password that is emailed to the supplier.
We are having a problem, the generated user name and password are created on the SRM system only, but we require the supplier to log on through the portal, as we run SRM from the portal,
Can this solution only be used if running SRM with NWBC or is there configuration that we are still missing to also automatically create the portal user ID and password for the contact person?
    Helpful points will be awarded,
    Regards,
    Busi

    Hello Carsten,
is this concept of "temporary contact person creation" a standard one or not?

  • Desktops and portals - 8.1 development

We're having a fun time here, trying to determine which tools are appropriate to which tasks in on-going Portal 8.1 development.
First issue: We have created a Zions.portal file in Workshop. This is where we do fundamental things like wire in the Visitor Tools. Then, of course, we go into the Admin tool, and create a desktop through which to render the portal. Now, say we want to change the way the portal is wired to Visitor Tools. The only place I can find to do this is on the portal file in Workshop. How do I then push that change to the desktop(s), without nuking them and recreating them?
Second issue: Say we want to add a particular page to the desktop, but want it to be reflected in the Zions.portal file for generating future desktops. How should this be done?
Third issue: We've created a new portlet on one of our individual development environments. Now we want to move it to our integrated environment, and add it to the desktop. The only way we can seem to make it available in the Admin Tool Library is to actually REcreate the portlet file on that environment, or to add it to the Zions.portal file, nuke the existing desktop, and create a new one.
Can someone help me understand how these sorts of activities are supposed to be handled between tools/environments?

Second issue: Changes made in desktop will not be reflected in the .portal file because the .portal file is just an xml file where as the changes to the desktop are written to the desktop.
but this issue can be solved in a way with the solution for the third issue.
Third issue: just create a new desktop by choosing the newly updated .portal file as template and select "keep the existing resources". You will see the changes in your previously created "main desktop". you can now delete this newly created desktop.
    hope this helps

    Hello.
I have been working on SPS7.1 for a while and everything displays correctly in both IE6, 7, 8, Firefox 1.5+, Safari 2+, etc.
Didn't you customize your portal ?
In this case, you may have to check your own CSS and JS on IE8. In my case, there were only a few issues that were resolved by reverting to CSS2 strict compliance and taking care of margins and paddings.
    Good luck.

  • Unable to connect to Persona integrated in Portal

    Hi,
We get attached error when accessing persona on th SAP Portal. It was working fine earlier.
Can somebody help in fixing this issue
    Thanks
    Sushma

    Hi Chen,
The problem the you are facing mostly occurs due to incorrect assignment of roles. The user id that is used in the EP needs to be present in the CRM backend system as well. The CRM Backend user has to be assigned to the corresponding single role.
Portal user needs to be assigned to a Portal Role.
Kindly have a look at the following document which will give more
    information on the role configuration.
Please find the related documentation under:
    -> http://service.sap.com/crm-inst
-> People-Centric CRM Inst. a. Config. Guides (on the left side tree)
Kindly have a look at the guide for CRM 5.0
This will give a clear picture on how to set up follow ups. Hope this helps. Please let us know incase you need more information on the same.

  • Remote Desktop through portal

Anyone implemented remote desktop through ALUI portal yet?
Anyone know if there are any issues that I should take in considerations?
    Lilach

    Hello,
Inside WLP the state information for portlets is stored at a per-desktop level, so since you have two desktops the only way I can think of to communicate between them would be to put information in the session (HttpSession). Then when you need to communicate that information to any remote portlets on a producer, just use custom data transfer (the SimpleStateHolder you mentioned is part of that) to carry the data to the producer.

  • How getback original Desktop in Portal

    Hi all
I have created a role with a desktop, but when I set the display rule maybe I made a mistake of set a condition like the following:
    IF user=* THEN goto mydesktop.
So, all users will goto mydesktop instead of default desktop. But fatally, mydesktop cannot see the menu of "System administration", and "User administration", there is nothing in the top menu.
How can I get back the defualt desktop with the administrator user? Or how to delete of modify the Display Rule in this condition?
    Regards

Hold on Wang. Dont mess up with it. If you change things in Main_rule no one would be able to logon to the portal.
Try accessing the Desktop & Rules page using this link:
