Photos wiped out after upgrading to 10.3.1565

Hello dear BB users,
I have upgraded to 10.3.1565 just recently and lost around 2 months of photos (I didn't do the back up). Not sure if there are still on the device. Really frustrating and sad, as it contained the last pictures of my lovely grandma which passed away. I have a concern that it is something to do with the encrypted data which was encrypted in 10.2.xxxx. I didn't do the security wipe. Maybe it's possible to downgrade it and the firmware can read it?
Thanks
Pavels

Huge mistake.
I do not know if your idea has any merit or not. I doubt it. However, many methods of installing OS's actually perform a wipe of the user memory areas of the device, so if you left those critical files there, they are likely gone. If you had used an SD card, then there would be no issue...for they would be fine. Unless you encrypted the card, which may have caused this to be a problem.

  • Bookmark data just got wiped out after upgrading (to ver. 34.0.5 on a Mac)... your help on how to restore them is greatly appreciated.

"Restore" function accessed from the bookmark "Library" window somehow cannot read previous bookmark settings. I am for some unknown reason facing total elimination of the 1000+ bookmarks I had saved...

Ok, I think i'm getting closer to the solution.  It knows where the files are, it's just saying they're not compatible.  here's the exact message "333 files were found, but 333 files are not compatible.  Relinked files must have the same media type, same frame rate, and similar audio channels as the original files, blah blah "
This changed after the upgrade.  I can't believe an upgrade would cause these files to be unrecognizable.  I'm not doing anything complicated here.  mov, jpg and mp3s.  FC changed the files to something i guess it can't recognize.   Lovely!  Is there an easy way to downgrade back to 10.0?
    Thanks,
    Todd

On my iPhone I have duplicates of photos in moments after upgrading to ios7

    - If the photos were taken by or saved to the iPod just use the computer's camera/image capture software to get them from the iPod.
    - If the photos were synced to the iPod you need a third-party program such as PhoneView of TouchCopy.

  • Cannot email photos from iPhoto after upgrade to 10.8

After upgrading to 10.8, I have not been able to successfully eamil photos from iPhoto. I can select the photos, click the email icon, and have Mail open with the photos attached (as expected). But the send button is grayed out, and the newly created message window cannot be closed. To get rid of the unsendable email, I have to quit or force shut down Mail, then reopen Mail and manually delete the email from Drafts.
Has anyone else run into this issue?

As Larry suggested go into iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and make sure your email account information is correct. If you joined iCloud that is a must.

  • Page Forward & Reverse buttons do not work & are "grayed-out" after upgrading to, as is the Main-Menu Items such as File-Edit-view etc...

After upgrading to Firefox 3.6.12 all functionality appeared to be intact. Then after a few days it lost the ability to "page forward" or to "page back" and are "grayed-out". Additionally, the Main menu items such as File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools & Help are also grayed-out and non-functioning.
Also, the "Search Window" does not search, Web Searches need to be performed from within the URL window instead, for some crazy reason. If the URL window is blank when I enter a search into the actual search window the following appears in the URL window, "Search Bookmarks and History", which makes no sense.
I have noticed similar complaints in this Forum in the past but I have not seen any posted resolution to these issues. Is there a solution?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.<br />
See [[Basic Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting&#58; Make a new profile]]
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox

  • Can't open photos in iPhoto after upgrade to 9.5

After upgrading to iphoto 9.5 I can no longer open albums, events or photos.  The photos appear in thumbnail version only.  Doesn't help to reboot iphoto or the whole Mavericks.
Is there a fix, or is this a bug?

    Back up.
Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7 or later: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • Adobe Reader XI Greyed out after upgrade

Hi, I need help.  My mom's MacBook Pro running OS X Lion 10.7.5 stopped opening PDF's in browser (Safari) after upgrading to Adobe Reader XI. The Reader is greyed out in the corner and while the PDF will open in browser, it is a garbled mess of code.

Fixed it!  After much internet searching I realized I was asking the wrong question.  It's not about the "Reader" button being grayed out as some PDF's were open in Safari and the Reader button WAS blue.  It was about a particular plug-in from adobe.  It's an Adobe issue.  Go to Library/internet plug ins and delete the plug in Plug-ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin
    That solved my problem!

  • TS1277 "iPhoto was unable to connect to Photo Stream" error after upgrading to mountain lion

Has anyone gotten this error after upgrading to mountain lion on a computer that already had a user setup on it?
My iphoto was working with photostream and now it will not connect at all.
I ran fix disk permissions and once it showed up in iphoto, photostream was loading and then it disappeared again.
    help!

FWIW I fixed mine when I realised I'd probably downloaded iPhoto using an AppleID from the App Store but logged into iCloud with a different AppleID. I deleted iPhoto and it's related files (but not the iPhoto Library) using CleanApp, entered the App Store with my usual AppleID and downloaded iPhoto again. Once the App Store, the downloaded iPhoto and iCloud logins were the same iPhoto Stream worked again.

  • IPad wiped out after trying to install OS6

I just tried to install OS6 on my iPad 2 from the latest iTunes version. I went away and came back to find that the update has failed, and my iPad's firmware seems to have been completely wiped out. It is stuck on the "connect to itunes" screen, and my itunes will not see it !! I have no idea how to restore it. Has anyone come across this problem ?

    Recovery Mode:
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
    3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button
    6. Open iTune
    7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
    8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

  • Contacts get wiped out after uploading IOS6

I uploaded IOS6 and my contacts got wiped out. How do I get them back?

An easy way to get your contacts back:
Go to your mail settings -> icloud and turn off contacts. Your contacts should now be visible again. Note that in most cases, the contacts are not actually missing. It's just that the contacts list has an issue where it seems to have trouble displaying the contacts when multiple lists are active. Once your contacts are back, you can turn icloud contacts back on and re-merge them. Note that when you turn it off, it will give you the option to keep or delete contacts on your phone - click KEEP!
