Planning with multiple plants

Hi all,
I have two production plants B and C.
I have a stock of 100 in plant B and a stock of 400 in plant C. So the total stock is available is 500.
I enter the requirement quantity of 1000 at plant A (planning plant) and do the MRP run.
Now I should get the planned orders generated at the two plants B and C for the remaining quantity. What can I do?
Rgds,

Hi,
As per my best knowledge you have no better solution in R/3 than the metioned process, that cannot realize your goal fully (you cannot optimize the process, you cannot consider the planning situation of all your plants during MRP run).
As I mentioned, more advanced solution is SAP APO that could realize your / your client's idea.
As for development: I cannot estimate how much and serious work could be to realize the multi-plant MRP run in R/3...but I'm afraid it won't be an easy job to do.
Please also wait for the others, maybe someone can tell you a workaround / good idea.
Regards,
Csaba

  • Using inspection plan in multiple plants

    Hi,
I would like to use one inspection plan in multiple plants. Are there any disadvantages or pitfalls? (besides the fact that if I use workcenters, the same workcenters must exist in all plants using the plan)
    Marcus.

I love to use material specs.  They can be used alone or in conjunction with a plan.
There are several reasons why plans must be used in certain situations.
Dynamic modification is one of the big ones.  You can only use DMR in inspection plans.
You also need plans to work with PRT assignments.
Security based on workcenters.  Some plants require that only certain techs or personnel perform certain inspections.  And the people who can do results recording is strictly monitored.  This is especially true for those using SAP in the Pharm and food industries.
Using calculated characteristics.  These can only be taken advantage of if your use inspection plans.
Enginerring change management.  Plans can used ECM to track and document changes.  Another big requirment in Pharma and food.
If a material spec is used it is an all or nothing situation.  In many places, there might be 20 or 30 characteristics on a given material spec.  If you inspect by material spec then all the characteristics in the material spec are copied into the inspection lot.  If you inspect in conjunction with a plan, any characteristics that don't match up with an inspection plan characteristic are appended to the last operation of the plan.
Since in many places, inspections are done at various stages, or maybe derived from batch derivation, they often want to pick and choose what tests get performed at what inspection.  A good example would be 03 and 04 lots.  Many places might test some characteristics via the 03 inspection that get the tests from the routing/receipe.  If the test is done in a later operation, there may not be any need to repeat the test in the 04 inspection lot.  Using a material spec, they wouldn't have that flexibility.  Anther example are 09 recurring inspections.  Many companies may only inspect a certain subset of characteristics to requalify the material at reinspection.
Capturing costs for specific testing must use an inspection plan.  (yes, you can use general QM order in the material master if you want, but the operation header of a plan has various values and settings for working with costs)
And now in 6.0, if you want to use the multiple spec functionality, you have to use inspection plans.
If you integrate with EH&S and maintain specs in EH&S then EH&S can create and update all the inspection plans as changes are made.  But not material specs.
I think I hit some of the big reasons,  I'm sure others can probably come up with ones I've missed.

  • Standard Rush Order with multiple plants

    Hello gurus,
We just upgraded to 6.0 from 31I and when creating a
rush order with multiple plants the first item's delivery
does not contain a ship-to party were the second item's
delivery does.  Table VBPA does not have a record for the
first delivery but the second delivery is there. This did not happen in 31I.
    Please advice.
    Best Regards.

    hello, Ruben.
hhmmm.  your table XVBPA looks like a created table that is not SAP standard.  i am not an ABAP person so i could not pretend to give you good advice, but i (my speculation only) suspect that there was a user exit or an ABAP program that made the system do the postings to this table instead of the standard VBPA.
i further speculate that during the upgrades, some of the enhancements may have been lost or diverted.  (to prevent this, you usually use the 'Z' naming convention, which is to have this letter as the start of any name for an enhancement or definition outside of SAP standard)
your best bet is to try getting an ABAP consultant (or are you one already?) to help you look at this.
    regards!

  • Restricting single PO with multiple plant

    Experts,
Pl help me in restricting user from creating single PO with multiple plant. Is there any config available???
I dnt want to go for any ABAP development.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Parag Mahajan

    Dear Parag,
Querry :  Restricting a single P.O. with multiple plants:
    If you want to restrict a single Purchase order with multiple plants the reason may be that;
Suppose your ordering material A for which you have three vendors in you SAP. But you are requiring this material in all your plants say example three plants.
You can create Purchase order for same with vendor but due the huge requirement your vendor get overloaded. And your other capable vendors are not used at all.
You can try out with quota arrangement for all vendors with which the quantity will be allocated to all the vendors depending on the quota rating.
Also you can define lot sizing procedure for a your vendor in customizing and can avoid creating Purcahse order with multiple plants.
    Thanks ,

  • How to use Same Inspection plan for Multiple Plants?

    Hello,
When I create a Process Order for material (M1), release and save it for a Plant A then I get the Inspection lot automatically.
Now I have another Plant B that we have created. We would like to use the same Inspection plan that has been created for Plant A and M1
So in the changed mode(QP02) of the Inspection plan for Plant A in the material assignment tab I added the Material M1 and the Plant B. I am assuming this means when I create the Process order for M1 in Plant B then it should use the same Inspection plan.
But when I create the Process Order for M1 for Plant B, release and save it then it does not created the Inspection lot automatically(though I can create Inspection lot manually)
Can you tell me if there is setting that will allow me to create the Inspection lot automatically on saving the Process order which should use the Inspection plan that I just assigned.
And also let me know if there is a better way to handle same Inspection Plan for same material but multiple Plants.
    Thanks
    SAP Fans...

    Dear,
For your message my understanding is that you are not getting Inspection lot created in Plant"B". Inspection lot for a material would get created based on the Inspection Setup for the material master "QM View", so compare the QM for the material in both plants and correct it for Plant "B".
Probably I feel Inspection Setup is not complete for the material in Plant "B" - Generally when extending material by copying referance, in the QM view you need to click the Inspection Setup Button, for the data to be copied...otherwise it does not copy the Inspection setup from the referance plant.

  • Materials with multiple plants and wm views

    Hello,
we are migrating materials to an environment where we have multiple plants, sales org., warehouse numbers. When we create the WM view we set a plant and warehouse number. As WM view is not really connected to a plant (table MLGN) we have the problem that when the users wish to mantain a material WM view, they see different combinations of plants and warehouse numbers, what is not really correct, as they are in different countries.
    Country 1: plant 0001, warehouse number 001
    Country 2: plant 0002, warehouse number 002
    Country 3: plant 0003, warehouse number 003
In country 1, with MM02, the user can open the material in plant 0001 and in any warehouse, ie. 001, 002, 003. This user should only be able to open plant 0001, warehouse nr. 001.
Is there a way in customizing, authorizations, etc. to avoid this?
    Thanks for your comments.

  • Inspection plan with multiple specifications

I have to maintain 1 inspection plan for 2 vendors for incoming inspection.
    Eg: Vendor A & B
Vendor A, I have to check parameter Fe, Mn, Si
Vendor B, I have to check parameters Fe, Moisture (For B, no need to check Mn, Si. Also Fe specification will vary for A and B vendors)
How can we do this in SAP. I cannot maintain 2 inspection plans.
    Vineeth

    Dear Vineeth
    1) Dependent characteristic
    For MIC 1000 - Vendor  A specification 10 to 20, For Vendor B spec is 30 to 50
Suppose we receive 10 pc from vendor A , after GR inspection lot will be created from the 10 pc and the specification for MIC (1000) will be automaticaly assgined to the inspection lot ie 10 to 20. If the vendor was B then the specification would be 30 to 50.
In inspection lot there will be only one specificaton either it will be of Vendor A or that of B
    2) In multiple specification is normaly used for Customer, country etc.
you have customer A , B , C & D with differnet specs for one  single mic and you want to valuate the mic with all specification seperately at one time
In this multiple specification is used. here we can valuate the mic with all the specification of A, B , C & D and results in a seperate window in the result recording tab. accordingly you can check wehter the mic has passed as ok with all cusomter specification

  • ATP check against delivery with multiple plants

    Hi all,
we have R/3 4.6c and APO 3.1 systems, this topic is related to ATP functionlity.
Our Existing ATP Practice in R/3:
1.sales are delivered via several Distribution Centers  (DC).
2.The right DC is determined by a delivering plant which chosen during the order creation.
3.In case of ATP no planned receipts are taken into  account.
4.When a product is not available at the determined DC it has to be checked manually if in any other DC is stock available which can deliver the customer in stead of the original DC.
5.If so the customer order (single order or scheduling agreement) has to be changed manually and the delivery can be created for the new chosen DC.
6.ATP is done during a delivery run, which happens 2 to 3 times a day.
7.Deliveries are only created for those orders where free stock is available.
    Expectations from APO GATP:
At this point of time gATP should check in case of non available stock, is there an alternative DC available?
Is there enough stock available in the alternative DC to create the delivery?
Are all parameters available to be able to deliver this customer from the alternative DC?
In case everything is ok the order should be changed (delivering plant) and the delivery for the alternative DC needs to be created.
To avoid confusion order management people of the alternative DC have to be informed about that change.
It is grateful if any one look into this and suggest the solution in gATP?
And for better solution one can expect maximum reward points
    Thanks in advance
    -RK

    Hi Ramkrishna,
As hemant rightly said we can do this with the help of RATP. But I think it will not take CTP scenario for planed orders as RATP is not compatible with CTP.
Rules can be set in rule maintainence. And as I understand u need only location substitution. Do remember to set rule type as "chain"
And if product is not available at alternate DC and if u want to start production (by triggering PPDS) then u can set this instructions in location determination activity.
Also now if u want the alternate DC to deliver the product then check the "create subitem" mark in check instructions. This will create subitem in sales order and will show delivery plant as the DC where product is available
    hope this helps!

  • Multi-Counter Plan with multiple Equipments

    Hello,
We would like to track maintenance costs at Equipment level.  In multi-counter maintenance plan, is there a way to enter multiple equipments in one mainteance plan?
    Thanks a lot,
    Venu

    Dear Venu,
In multi counter plan, only one equipment may be assigned, as correctly observed. However, you may assign the same equipment with different task list, depending on the cycle set, so that maint order is generated with required operations applicable for that cycle.
    Eg: Cycle set 1   100Hrs/1month
                          2    500Hrs/3Month
                          3    1000Hrs/6 Month
Create task lists as per above cycle sets and for each cycle set assign the same equipment, but with different task lists.
This reduces the number of maintenance plans for a given equipment. This is particularly useful for vehicle management, where the running KM and time are the common counters.

  • MTO Discrete Manufacturing with multiple plants and sub-contracting

    Dear PP Gurus,
I am facing a problem, pl. help me out.
    My Scenario is as follows:
I am having 4 plants with Make-To-Order Discrete Manufacturing scenarieo .
Suppose to manufacture a particular Product , there are 10 operations. The first 4 operations are carried out in Plant A, 5th and 6th carried out in Plant B, Operations 7 is Sub-contracted to a Vendor. After the job-work from Vendor, the job returns back to Plant A and the remaining operations are carried out in Plant A.
The whole scenario has to be mapped into SAP. Please guide me from the very beginning( Masterdata maintenance). Also, what shud be the MRP( Single-item multilevel or anything else)
Your help is highly required by me.
    Thanks in advance,
    Soumyendu

    Hi Sadhukhan,
For external processing in different company code, u need to specify PP02 in the routing for external vendor. In PP02 control key indicator must be set in external opn. Before that create purchase info record. Enter subcontract info record in routing. After running MRP , convert the PR to PO. Send the material by MB1B by 541 mvt. Receive the material by MIGO by 101 mvt.
    Reward if useful.

  • Lifecycle planning with multiple locations

    Hi Experts,
    Imagine we have:
    1) Product A in Location A
    2) Product B in Location B
Now there is a initiative to discontinue production of Product B in location B and it is expected that customers will buy instead Product A in Location A.
So I need to map sales history of Product B in Location B to Product A in Location A. How can I achieve this functionality?
    - Life-cycle management allows me to do only within the same location.
    - Other option is to do a realignment, but it is too dangerous for often use from my point of view.
Does anyone have implemented some development on this?
    Thanks,
    Art

    Art,
    1. If you want to consider using Life cycle planning only , Try creating the life cycle table on Product and Location characteristics. Create the life profile and then maintain both Product A/ Location A values in the lifecycle table.
    2. Realignment should be considered as one of the option, if your users are OK with actually copying the sales history to new product instead of just referring the sales history for forecasting without actually copying. Also, as mentioned earlier by Satish, execute realignment in two steps if you want to play safe. Copy first and then delete CVCs belonging to Product B/Loc B as a next step once you are sure the data has been copied correctly to Prod A/Loc A.
Also you could do this in Quality first to feel confident about results.

  • Restrict PO creation for multiple plants for same company code

    Hi Gurus,
We want to restrict PO creation for multiple plants in the same company code. Based on Standard SAP settings for Purchasing organization assignment with multiple Plant and multiple Plant assignment with single company code, this is happening. Is there a way that we can restrict by doing some customization change.
Any thoughts or ideas will be highly appreciating.
    Thanks and Best regards,
    Karun Kumar

    Hi,
Said functionality is not available in SAP standard.
To avoid the same ,i can suggest implement release strategy for PO,and then higher authority / commercial team can check created PO,if multiple plants available in single po then they have the option of rejection for the same.
Or else check BADI-ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST,take the help from abapor and apply the restriction to select multiple plant in PO.
Hope this will resolve your query,

  • Multiple Plants for Material and customer

    Hi,
I have downloaded the Plants from the R/3 to CRM using DNL_PLANT object. The BP with Role 'PLANT' are created.
we  have multiples plants for the same material,
I have downloaded the material master data, but in COMMPR01, the field DELIVERING LOC. is empty. Is that correct? How the system works with multiples plants.
    What I can do?
    Best regards
    Lidisaid

    Hi Lidisaid,
Ideally, the field Delivery location must get populated. Just ensure that the followig settings have been maintained.
    1. Adapter Object MATERIAL
    Tcode: R3AC1
Choose the tab Tables/Structures Within Object
    Add tables MARC and MARC_KEY
Please also check that MARC_KEY that the field Inactive is not flagged for this entry.(This is needed to download the PLANT information as   interlinkages to CRM Online in the table COMM_IL_PRDLOC.)
The plant information is seen in the Sales & Distribution tab of the product master by double clicking on the Distribution Chain.
    2. Add Relationship type PRDLOCS- LOCATION OF PRODUCTS
    Tcode: COMM_HIERARCHY
Check if the corresponding Material Categories for which the PLANT information is to be downloaded has the interlinkage type LOCATION OF PRODUCTS maintained in the RELSHIP types for the products categories that are to be downloaded to CRM from R/3.
    Note:
If no relationship types are assigned to the product category, the PLANT information will be downloaded to the interlinkage table COMM_IL_PRDLOC. But even if a single RELSHIP entry is maintained then additionally the RELSHIP type LOCATION OF PRODUCTS also have to be maintained. E.g. MAT_FERT
    Wish this helps.

  • Maintenance Plan with Counter

    Dear All,
I have the following requirement, would be of great help if you can help me get the solution:
Their is a pump which is to be maintained. The orders need to be generated on the basis of two parameters:
    1. Number of hours the pump has ran. This can be recorded against measuring point.
    2. Number of calendar days elapsed.
The maintenance order should be created which ever condition is met first. For example: Every 200 hrs the pump runs, a maintenance order should be created also if the time elapsed is 2 months the order should be created. Now whatever of the above two comes first the order should be created against that only.
Can anyone please tell how to achieve this.
I have thought of two options though they dont look good:
Option 1: Create two maintenance plan. Delete/TECO the extra order generated.
Option 2: Create one maintenance plan with multiple counters, one for running hours and the other for calendar days. Keep OR relation. But here we need to update calendar days counter every day which is not feasible.
    Thanks
    Geravine

    Hi...
First of all you have to create the Measuring Counter for your Pump using the T.code IK01 and then post the initial measurement  document against the measuring counter using T.code IK11.
After above create the Cycle set for Multiple counter using T.Code IP11Z, and define the Cycle for your Multiple Counter Plan.
In your condition, define the cycle length as "2" and UOM as "MON" and second cycle length as "200" and UOM as "HRS" and also provide the short text for Cycle short text as per you convenience. This is one time activity.
Then create the Multiple counter Plan using the T.Code IP43 and cycle set created in earlier step. Provide the Technical Object i.e. Pump (Most probably Equipment) all other details are copied from it. Enter the created Measuring Counter for your Technical Object in the Maintenance Plan Cycle Tab against the 200 Hrs Row in Counter Columns. In the Second Tab i.e. Maintenance Plan scheduling parameter Choose "OR" Link . Enter the value Scheduling Period which help you to show the future plan in advance.
And as per requirement you can also check the box  available for Completion Requirement, Check the box if you required that New Maintenance Order  will not be generate until the previous order is get closed.
Hope this will resolve your query
