Playbook while tethered causing browser problems

I love my Playbook, but I've found that while tethered to my Bold 9700 and using the regular internet browser, that I can't seem to copy/paste or save an image from a website.  It is also very jumpy while browsing.  I do wait until the page is fully loaded and the blue status bar is done and gone, but it still won't function properly.  I know this is a tethering issue because it has no problems while on wifi.
Does anyone else have this problem and have you found a solution...or is it a bug in the OS while tethered?  If its a bug, I can live with that and just know that it might be corrected shortly.
Thanks!

are you on a 3g network or a 2g one?
good signal on phone?
densly populated area?
Tethering does not have the speed of wifi, but would be helpful to know the above questions.

Unless your bank's website is insecure, you're fine.  Go up to the Safari "Search" bar and type in Rapport.  You'll be amazed.  It may  "work" on PCs, but definitely not Macs.  And it's not needed for Macs.

My MacBook Air keep Restarting while I'm using it over and over again.. What might be causing this problem ?

The next time the problem happens, note the date and time the problem occurred, then go to Applications/Utilities/Console and copy the log starting at the time of the crash. Paste the log in a reply. Please do not use a screen shot as they can be hard to read. If there are repeated runs of the same messages, please post only one run. • My ipad won't start up. I downloaded iTunes on my pc while my iPad was charging - could this have caused the problem? I don't want to restore to factory settings and lose data. Any ideas or solutions? Thanks, Linda

My ipad won't start up.  I downloaded iTunes on my pc while my iPad was charging - could this have caused the problem? I don't want to restore to factory settings and lose data. I also recently successfully paired my ipad with a bluetooth keypad. Any ideas or solutions? Thanks, L

FYI, your iPad will charge much faster if you plug it directly into an electrical outlet.
When doing the reset, as Jackkcc suggests, make sure you let go of both buttons fairly promptly after the apple image appears, then wait another 10 seconds or so for the iPad to start up.  Note that a reset does not alter any data or settings.

• When Firefox freezes, how can I shut it down, and re-start it without it automatically going to the site which caused the problem in the first place ?

I have Firefox set so that when I start up, I have it set so that it automatically goes to my home page. However when it freezes, which it does on a daily basis, and I have to shut it down and re-start, it automatically goes to the site which caused the problem in the first place.
If I was a hacker, I would probably find it quite fun to design a virus to reintroduce bugs after they had been exterminated - except that Firefox seem to have got there first.

Here's how:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste sess and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes preference and enter 0 (that's a zero) and click OK.
When Firefox resumes after a crash, instead of resuming automatically, it will display a list of your previous windows and tabs and you can deselect problem pages.
(This assumes it wasn't a private browsing session.)

• Embedded pictures in g-mail do not get thru when forwarded. Google claims it's a browser problem. how do I fix this?

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate, Firefox 3.6.16
This problem started up about 4 months ago. I thought it was a Google problem, but Google claims it's a browser problem. The same problem happens with Internet Explorer. I checked the Google website and many people are having this same problem. And Google is totally unresponsive.
Attached pictures go thru fine, but if I get an e-mail from someone with embedded pictures in the message, when I forward that message, the receiver does not get the pictures...only a red X in a blank box.
How can this be fixed?

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.

• I get a pop-up warning window stating that something is tricking firefox to update, what's causing this problem and is it serious?

Every other time I'm using Firefox, I get a warning pop-up window stating that something is trying to trick Firefox to update. I'm not sure if I have a virus or any other unwanted program that is trying to corrupt my computer. Please let me know what it could be. I have McAfee and it's actively running every time I use the internet, so I'm not sure whats causing this problem. Please help. Thank You.

It's a Web scam that only affects your browser, and only temporarily. There are several ways to recover.
1. Some of those scam pages can be dismissed very easily. Press the key combination command-W to close the tab or window. A huge box will pop up. Press the return key and both the box and the page will close. If that doesn't happen, continue.
2. Press and hold command-W. You may hear repeating alert sounds. While holding the keys, click the OK button in the popup. A different popup may appear, which you can cancel out of as usual.
3. From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and uncheck the box marked Enable JavaScript. Leave the preferences dialog open.
Close the malicious window or tab.
Re-enable JavaScript and close the preferences dialog.
4. If the Preferences menu item is grayed out, quit Safari. Force quit if necessary. Relaunch it by holding down the shift key and clicking its icon in the Dock. None of the windows and tabs will reopen.
After closing the malicious page, from the menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
to get rid of any cookies or other data left by the server. Open your Downloads folder and delete anything you don't recognize.

• Firefox logged out of all websites (FB, GOOGLE etc) while I was browsing?

This is an issue I faced today, I was normally browsing websites while being logged into multiple websites using my user accounts. All of a sudden out of nowhere (and while browsing...not logged out of any websites)....I got logged out of all websites, yes, all the websites I was logged into....is this is a security issue or a browser issue?
1. I did not clear cache/history/cookies - I am web dev so I know what I was doing?
2. I did not close FF, I am actually posting this after it happened and without restarting browser.
3. It happened to all of the websites altogether
I am concerned whether this is a security issue...and that I need to change passwords for my account

Still are you facing the issue??

• Web browsing problem in Linux

Okay, lately (for the last week or two) I've had a strange problem browsing the web. My browser (normally Firefox, but I just tested with Elinks with the same results) just won't connect to certain sites, www.snoopy.com and www.rpgamer.com to name a couple.
When I'm in Windows, the same sites work without a hitch. (I use Firefox in Windows as well, with pretty much the same settings.)
I'm using a ppp connection...

Okay... The sites in question seem to be working now. It would appear that the problem had something to do with my internet connection being routed through another computer in our household a while back, and those settings being still left on in rc.conf after I got my own adsl connection online again... Whether it was just because both connections were on at the same time or that it was routed through a Windows machine, which apparently was causing other problems on my brother's machine as well, I can't say...

• Dual Monitor Causing System Problems?

Hi, I'm new to this site, so I hope this is where I ask this question! My design group switched to G5/Cinema Display screen from old g4 setups mid 2005. I retained my Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2020u monitor to use as a secondary display for pallettes, extra files, etc. It's hooked up using a dvi-vga adapter.
My new G5 had hiccups from the start, but around March 2006 I started getting Kernel Panics almost every week, serious slow-downs, Adobe app crashes, etc. It got to the point that I was troubleshooting every week, but could never put a finger on exactly what was happening. IT archive-installed 10.4.4 after we discovered the system had been updated to 10.4.6 and we thought that would solve the problem. While that solved the issues that were relevant to 10.4.6 glitches, it didn't fix everything and little, persistent problems remained, including stalls, crashes and kernel panics. After removing suspect fonts, wallpaper, icons, updating software, repairing permissions, tossing preferences, and other troubleshooting over and over, we (I.T.) finally switched my cpu to another one in the department using data migration (just my user information, not software or other files). Still the same hiccups and even new glitches appeared (InDesign crashing on spellcheck, Photoshop not granting me access to save changes to files, etc.), including two more Kernel panics (within 5 minutes of each other) in the two weeks since we switched hardware. More troubleshooting fixed the app-specific problems, but there are still the persistent annoyances occurring.
I again did all the troubleshooting mentioned above and finally someone mentioned that I'm the only designer in our group using a dual display set-up. Could there be validity to the non-cinema display monitor causing these problems and if so, what is the solution? I've disconnected the second monitor for now, but would love to have it back. Also, we work with a server (for instance, the kernel panics only happen when I try to place a file from the server into InDesign CS2 using the place command, so there's another avenue to go down if the monitor isn't the issue.)Thanks!

I only just disconnected the monitor, so it will take time to tell if that's a factor. As for the kernel panics, although it's always the same scenario (placing images from server through InDesign) they happen very randomly; it's not happening every single time I place a file. In fact, I just placed an image on the server into an ID doc I have on my desktop, no problem. So I can't say for sure that it has happened when working from my desktop or only when working on the server.

• Firefox 5.0 is supposed to have a separaret Twitter tab, but I noticed today that that tab is missing. What is causing this problem?

Firefox version 5.0 has a separate Twitter tab built into this web browser. However, today I have been having problems with launching the Firefox browser. An error message appears, after attempting to launch the browser, which states that the Firefox browser is already running, and that the process needs to be closed or that the computer needs to be restarted. After restarting my computer and launching the Firefox browser, I noticed that the built-in Twitter tab ( near the upper left-hand corner of the browser ) was missing. What is causing these problems?

I'm pretty sure that Firefox version 5.0 has a built-in Twitter tab. Whatever the case may be, I downloaded Firefox version 5.0.1 this morning. I learned that if you right-click on a tab, that a menu box will appear on the screen. One of the options in that menu box is "Pin as App Tab." If I go to the http://twitter.com web site, and then right-click on the corresponding Twitter tab, and then select "Pin as App Tab," then a small Twitter tab will appear to the right of the orange-and-white "Firefox" tab ( in the upper left-hand corner of the Firefox web browser screen ). Then I can click on that Twitter tab and go directly to the http://twitter.com web site. However, when I exit the Firefox version 5.0.1 web browser, and then immediately re-launch it, the separate Twitter tab is gone. Is there any way, within Firefox version 5.0.1, that I can make the separate Twitter tab permanent after selecting "Pin as App Tab"? Thank you for your assistance regarding this matter.
