Please escalate to corporate executive relations

My name is Ursula (removed per forum guidelines) (removed per forum guidelines), a very upset customer of Best Buy due to the fact that I received no assistance with my ongoing issue at the retail level that I am having to reach out to corporate executive relations for a resolution. On Jan 31,2013, my husband and I visited the 1184 store in Davenport, FL with the intentions of buying a new tv for our living room. Alex (removed per forum guidelines), sales associate in the Home Theater dept, assisted with the purchase of a 60 inch Samsung LED tv. He was very helpful and set us up with geek squad's delivery and installation. As we were discussing the next available date for installation, he explained GS only installs in windows of 8am-12pm or 12pm- 4pm, Tuesday-Saturday. We agreed to the next available Saturday which was Feb 15,2013, my husband and I both work 8-5pm Monday through Friday so we could only have the tv installed on a Saturday. I wanted a sooner date as I was having a party on Feb 16 and needed to use the tv for media but Alex assured me it would get done on the 15th with no problem. He also set me up with a new best buy credit card with 0% financing for 36 months. As he started to ring me up, the register tape started to give him issues so he called over customer service manager, Charity, to assist. She then asked me if I knew GS would not hide the cord in the wall and they sell covers to hide them, I was not aware and so I agreed to the purchase of the cover (I add this info as it is relevant to the issue). They advise me that GS will call the night before the delivery (14th) to advise the time of installation. It's now the 14th and 6:30 pm and I still haven't received a call from GS. I called GS and the rep states he doesn't have a delivery scheduled for the 15th, it's scheduled for the Tuesday, the 25th. How could this be I responded as my paperwork states delivery date of the 15th. He asked if I had added on any purchases after I bought the tv as that may have changed the date. At that moment I remembered the cover added on at the end of the transaction with Charity but explained to the rep no one told me the date would change. The rep said the tv was coming from the Winter Garden, FL store and he would reach out to them to see if I could be added back to the 15th. He connected me to their supervisor Barbara, who said GS was gone for the day and all she could do was put in a request to add me back on for Saturday. I told her to please call me once she finds out and she said it would be Saturday that I would hear from her but she never called and when I called her store at 12 pm on the 15th, they said she wouldn't be in until 3 pm. I then called the Davenport store and spoke to store manager Doug, who said he would research the info I gave him with his staff and call me back. After a few hours he called and stated his staff is at fault as no one caught the change of date. He offered to bring the tv himself but he wouldn't be able to install it. I told him I need the tv installed for a party I was having the following day but he was not able to get in contact with GS. He said he was leaving for the day but his Home theather supervisor would call me before end of closing to advise if they heard back from GS. No one called me and I called the following day and the Supervisor was busy with a customer and Doug was off. I left a message to have Doug call me immediately when he returned to work on Monday but I never got a call and I had to reach out to him at 5 pm. when I got off work. He said he figured I would have come in for a refund by now, I couldn't believe his response and I said you know what all I wanted was the tv installed which I paid for but looks like I should come in for a refund.  I went down to the store on the 19th which is 30 miles out of my way to get a refund but the customer service associate talked me into just getting the tv and canceling and refunding the installation charge of $200. She assured me it would be delivered on the 25th but not installed and refunded the installation charge on my best buy cc, I asked my sister in law if she could take the day off as her work is more flexible than mine to receive the tv and again the tv never came. I called GS several times, no one knows what happened but they would have Doug reach out to me. He called stating he's not sure what happened but offered to bring it himself again, when he pulled the transaction he noticed that on the 20th, the tv was refunded as well. I told him I did not visit your store on the 20th so how could this be? I explained I just want the tv, why is it so hard to get a tv delivered, it's not like I didn't pay for it. He said he can still bring the tv but he would need to charge my cc, I told him he needs to send me a copy of the refund transaction as this is the first I hear of it. He agreed but then he said I can't charge your credit card again without you physically being here or I would need to ask you questions that I am sure you won't be okay with answering over the phone. I was so fed up with his lack of service at that point I said I give up. I never had such a bad experience with a tv purchase, all I want is the merchandise I paid for. How can you not charge my credit card without me there but you can refund the whole transaction without my authorization or acknowledgement. I wasted so much time and energy with this and  the end result is I end up with nothing. So you know, I already told all my coworker s, as they overheard  the numerous calls to GS and Best Buy,  family and friends to look elsewhere before considering buying anything from Best Buy. You really need to revamp your customer service training, how come all I was offered for my trouble was a $50 gift card from  GS, Doug offered nothing to correct their huge issue, how come GS was not able to accommodate my schedule when I paid for a service they did not deliver?? I have been in customer service for 12  years and have never seen anything like this. I plan on contacting the BBB and post this on all social network sites. If you could belive it there is more to the story in regards to the bad customer service I received from other associates and some I already mentioned but my blood is boiling enough to mention it.

I know that I would’ve been thrilled to show off a new TV I purchased, especially if it was for a party I was throwing. It sounds like this TV was a necessity for your party to be a success, and I’m truly sorry to hear about your disappointing experience.
When Geek Squad services like yours are purchased and a specific date chosen, we shouldn’t be changing anything on the order without first making our customers aware of the possibility of losing their particular date. In your case, we should’ve proceeded with the order without adding the cord cover kit and then processed payment for it separately as its own transaction. I’m sorry that this oversight on our part caused further frustration for you.
I’m glad to hear that our Davenport’s store manager Doug wanted to step up and help you with getting your TV up and running once the mistake was caught. However, I understand his offer at the time didn’t help you with your party situation, and instead, we chose to wait to see if we could get Geek Squad out to your home. I’m sorry that you didn’t receive a call back to confirm this, as I realize this means you didn’t have your TV for your party. I myself just had a viewing party for the Oscars earlier this month and I can’t imagine having thrown that without having a TV installed in my home. I’m sure this just aggravated an already dismal situation, and I sincerely apologize for the lack of follow up.
From here, it’s completely understandable why you came into our store later that next week demanding a refund for the Geek Squad services you purchased. We certainly didn’t leave you with the greatest impression of our services. However, I’m not sure why your television was then subsequently returned the next day. Please know that I’ve begun investigating your predicament to see if I might be able to provide you some further information regarding this, along with any options we may have to resolve it.   • Please Help me: JSP executes iReport

    Hello,
    I have Tomcat 5.0 and iReport in my computer (the server computer).
    I want to execute iReport on the server via a JSP.
    I use "Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd.exe /C iReport.cmd");" on the JSP and the iReport it's executed on my computer.
    But when I tried to execute iReport on another machine that connected the server via TCP/IP, iReport executes on the server computer not in the client computer.
    Are there any mode that iReport executes on client computer??
    If the answer is afirmative, please tell me how.

    Can I execute this in a JSP??It will still run only on the Server. Like was said, JSPs and Servlets run on the Server's JVM (and before the HTML gets delivered to the client. Your best bet to get it to run on the client side is to use an Applet or Java Web Start (do a search for them). But if that will let you do what you want? Now it will be running on the Client, and not the Server. so if you are trying to report on Server resources, you will might not be able to. I would ask the IReport people on how to get that going, if possible.

    I've been trying to reach someone from customer relations, but there is not an email in the web site and the call center is not very efficient. I'm in Caracas, Venezuela and I've been having problems with my 800 MHZ iBook. The computer experienced the following symptoms:
    - Scrambled and distorted video
    - Appearance of unexpected lines on the screen
    - Intermittent video image
    - Video freeze
    - Computer starts up to blank screen
    An authorized Service Provider determined that the component failure identified for the Expanded iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program affected my computer.
    In order to make the arrangements for the repair, the AASP needs the invoice of the purchase, which I don't have because I did it over the Internet and my father in law brought it to me from the US.
    I have the web order number, the billing and shipping info, and the computers serial number. I'm hopping that Apple can send me a copy of the invoice so I can proceed with the Repair Extension Program, but it has been impossible to speak to any customer relations representative, or find an email address in the web site.
    Please, please ,please, I need an email address of customer relations.
    I would really appreciate any information you can give me.

    Call 1-800-MY-APPLE, select the appropriate option, give the customer service representative your web order number, phone number or e-mail address, and they can pull the invoice up and e-mail you a copy. I'm a newbie too, so go easy on me.

  • Please fix the Robohelp bug related to supporting underscores (_) in the help files (*.chm)

    There are 10 module specific projects. Further map IDs are assigned in all the 10 module projects to have context sensitivity. These are merged into a single project to generate the entire help file. The output for the project is html help (.chm).
    Initially, we generated the html help and integrated with the application. When tested (pressed F1) the correct topic is displayed but with the ToC for that module and not the entire help.

    But the solution didn’t work as expected, Further investigation showed that since the output file name had underscore (Module1_EN.chm to denote the language), the solution didn’t work.  Hence I removed the ‘underscore (_)’ from the output file name and generated the output again. This time the solution worked.
    Please refer below the steps for generating the output.
    Steps:
    Generated output (chm) for all the modules.  I had to make sure that the output file name does not contain any ‘underscore (_)’ as this caused the problem when generated the help file.  
    In the main help project (which is an empty container), merged all the projects using Robohelp’s Merged Project functionality.  While merging, I first created empty Book and then merged the project within that book.
    For example, Book1 will contain Module1.chm, Book2 will contain Module2.chm and so on.
    Added window definitions using Project Setup -> New Window. Also added reference to main ToC here by clicking Advanced Properties. (Table of Contents: Main.hhc)
    Selected the above created window while generating the output (Single source layouts -> html help Layout -> Properties).
    Generated the html output for the entire project (Main.chm).
    Decompile the ‘Main.chm’ and extracted the ToC file ‘Main.hhc’.
    For each module project, imported ‘Main.hhc’ as a Baggage File, created window definitions same as the Main project and with reference to ‘Main.hhc’.
    Again generated html output for all the modules.
    Tested CSH for the project. The correct topic displayed with the entire ToC.

  • Help, please... all OS-related options/programs don't work anymore

    Hi all,
    the OS-related options are no longer available on my Mac. I cannot start TextEdit, nor can I open the system preferences, the help system or Safari. And it does not shut down. But I can use Quark and Acrobat as usual and create print files etc. Would you know any possibility of how to revive the OS commands? I don't know if there is a connection, but while I was working on very large files I often received the message that the startup volume was nearly full. But I could not believe it because there were 200 or 300 MB still available, and just kept on working. (Now I know that the system needs about 1-2 GB of free space...)

    Do this:
    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disk. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.)
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled, if supported.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled, if supported.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process will take 30 minutes to an hour or more depending upon the drive size.
    The above is a full extended partition and erase. If you prefer you can do a "quickie" by omitting the Zero Data option. It's there for three reasons: (a) checks and spares any bad blocks on the hard drive; (b) recommended when switching operating systems; and, (c) prevent access to personal data when you sell the computer.

  • It's a mystery...  Please help. (Airport IP related)

    I'm having trouble with Airport. Here is the story: I have a cable modem and the snow airport. It has been working well with my Powerbook G4. A short time ago, I brought home an iMac G4. I was having trouble getting both computers online at the same time so I reset the airport. Now iMac will go online but the airport admin utility wont find the airport. The Powerbook will not go online but I can administer the airport from it. To make things more curious, the airport is is set up to distribute a single address in the form of 10.0.1.X with X being 1 for the airport. The laptop is 2. The iMac (this is the only one that connects to the internet) has its IP address as 207.237.233.192 with the airport being 207.237.232.1. What is frustrating is that I am unable to get these two computers on the same page because the admin utility won't recognize the airport from the comptuer that works. I've tried manually setting the IPs to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

    They are both on my airport network without question. The airport admin utility on the iMac will not recognize any network even though my wireless network is listed correctly on the airport menu and I can access the internet.
    At first the Powerbook was working with the base station but when I couldn't seem to add the iMac to the network, I reset everything. Then for some reason the iMac would work but the Powerbook wouldn't.
    The Powerbook lists the same network (mine) under the airport menu and the admin utility will recognize my base station but I am not connected to the internet. The diagnostics program failed to solve the problem. It is successful up to ISP then fails.

  • Problems with the forums -- Oracle personnel please escalate

    I'm sure many have posted this somewhere, but in case they haven't -- the forums aren't rendering code snippets, which looks like xml, properly. In some cases, its eliminating them altogether, in others, it cuts out big chunks, in others it replaces some xml markup with smilies. The result is that its rendering tons of posts and information in them as totally useless.
    If I had to guess, this is because the forums aren't rendering using rawText or something like this, but at the very least, until the problem can be totally fixed, turn off smilies. Smilies are nice, but next to code which document answers, they are unimportant.

    I understand your personal plight, and I thank you for passing on the information as you were told. But what I'm talking about is kind of big-picture stuff, pertaining to Oracle as a whole. It encompasses not only the issue of the new forums, but support of any product, be it on forums or metalink, documentation, examples, etc. The frustration coming out that I see seems to have a central theme: Oracle having a "fend for yourself" mentality to their customers.
    Someone posts on the forums, can't get an answer, so they are told "these are for user communication". Then they are told "go post a tar". Then they post a tar and are sent a document they've already read. Then others have said that tars won't address how-tos. Then the JDev forums have problems, and users give feedback, and the response is "go post this somewhere else.".
    This looks like continually passing the buck, propagating an internal bureaucracy to for users to have to understand how to navigate, and forcing upon your users the responsibility for facilitating communication within Oracle. I think Oracle really needs to work on putting themselves in the shoes of their customers, and change the self-centric attitude. I highly doubt that Oracle treats their customers with respect to accounts receivable with the same apparent lethargy they treat customers with respect to support.

    I really hope that Apple will do the right/ethical thing and give recent (within the 8-9 months) purchasers of macbook, macbook pros, macbook air, and people who just bought single OS copies of Lion OS-either a free copy of Mountain Lion or a huge discount price on the OS ($5.00 max ). Let's be honest here....Mountain Lion is the patched up Lion. Apple couldn't release an update large enough to fix the problems with Lion so they instead created a new OS. They know that is the truth. 
    As someone who  just bought a macbook pro that came pre-installed with Lion (had no choice really but to accept that or completly wipe it clean and try to put on Snow Leopard, but I was hesitant to because of being warned not to try that on the pre-installed macbook pros.) I don't feel it is right that I would have to pay for another OS when I was already supposed to have a functional OS included with my recent major purchase. Let's think about it for second: when I got a powerbook g4 around 2004/05 I paid about the same price as this macbook pro i now own. With that I got the lap top, the installer OS cds (a functional OS I  might add), manual, stickers, a vga adapter, s-output cord, ac adapter, ac extension cable, and phone cord. With the 2011 macbook pro I got the laptop, manual, stickers, ac adapter, ac extension cable, and cloth to wipe off my screen. I didn't get any s-video output or vga adapter, and I'm actually glad that they didn't give me any lion installer cds because that would have been a waste of optical disc. What came free in a box over 6 years ago (vga adapter display port) is now $30 extra at the apple store. Also, no s-video. So I can't hook it up to an external monitor or tv. (and no, I can't just go and buy a fake one on amazon because I have analog so i would on top of that buy a pc converter box. ) I honestly wouldn't mind buying the converter box... had I gotten a free vga display adapter with my laptop. Also let's compare a minor difference in applecare: back then I got a receipt and a box with some info and a applecare test cd that was good for diagnostic utility testing. while maybe a bit old fashioned, I still like having cds that I can use for testing problems. This time, I didn't get any info box or cds, or a receipt for that matter--well i did get an email saying I had extendedapple 3 year but I never had the chance to make a phone confirmation that proves I am in service. I feel that is a bit risky sending people home without a hard copy of your purchase. They could just claim you didn't buy it. maybe i'm just old fashioned that way. To be clear, i can't compare the actual service of applecare of present day and former because so far I haven't had enough use of it to compare it yet.
    What I'm getting at is that with the money they saved on gypping me with included accessories and a function OS, surely they could afford to right the situation by giving me a free copy of the new OS Mountain Lion. I might add, that way back when I had my powerbook g4 I went into to apple's genius bar one day and was trying to get an issue fixed regarding the itunes razor phone I had just purchased (way back before iphone had just come out) the music wasn't transferring from my computer to my phone. The guy was very very nice and he said he couldn't fix the problem with the phone (the usb turned out to be damaged) and he upgraded my panther to tiger for free!
    That is an example of good customer service. That is example of keeping loyal apple customers.

I simply said that I was extremely displeased with the quality of my iBook and I would no longer be purchasing or advocating Apple products. I wished Mr. Jobs the best of luck in Apple's future endeavors.
    Two days later, I received a call from Apple's Corporate Executive Relations team. The woman I spoke with apologized profusely for my troubles with the iBook. She explained the logic board replacement program to me in great detail, and then, without any prompting from me, asked if a new iBook G4 (as a replacement) would cause me to reconsider leaving the platform. **** yes. So, I'm typing this post on a brand new 1Ghz, 12.1" iBook G4
    Needless to say, despite the trouble with the machine, and the heartburn of dealing with Apple Support - in the end I'm left feeling fairly impressed with Apple. In the end, they did the right thing, and kept a customer.

  • 4S Wifi Grayed Out - I feel abandoned by Apple

    I have three iPhones 4s's for my family and me.  We have had them for less than two years.  Two of them have now lost Wifi.  I followed the steps on this Apple Support page:
    iOS: Wi-Fi settings grayed out or dim
    None of the resets worked, so I went to an Apple Store.  They said sorry, it's a hardware problem.  We'll fix it for $200, otherwise, you're out of luck.  Are there any other possible solutions that I've missed?
    An internet search, including many posts on this forum, suggests it's a pretty widespread problem.  I feel abandoned by Apple.  This is my first ownership experience with Apple products.  Do Apple products really only work for a little more than one year before developing problems?

    Thanks for the intelligent response.  I certainly don't expect new phones, I just want mine to work as they were intended.  I do not have AppleCare coverage and am clearly out of warranty, so I did not think to go through those channels.   I was able to get in touch with Corporate Executive Relations and the best help they could offer was a full iPhone restore followed by a restore from backup (this step is not part of the above mentioned support page, but is a last ditch effort by the executive technical support staff to remedy the problem).  Unfortunately, that restore process did not solve the problem.  That is as far as they are willing to help.  They refuse to cover the hardware defect.
    Again, thank you for your response, it is much appreciated.
