Populating mass restrictions in BEx

hello,
I know that there is a way to upload a text file with restrictions into a variable. Is this also possible (or some similar way) to upload many values for restriction while in the Query builder?
many thanks,
Allan

Allan,
in bex you must use eq, less then, equal, interval, ecc.
if it's not possible you must create an attribute for you char (if the value are always the same) and select/find all your selection in bex filters with your attribute.
char attr
1     A
2     B
3     A
4     B
5     B
6     B
7     A
if you want only the 1,2,7 post the attr A in master data and find the values of your char using the attribute.

  • Creating Restrictions in BEx query designer for (1-a), where a is variable.

    Dear All,
    >>  Suppose for the variable in the BEx query designer, I've created restriction for 0FISCPER to the variable 0P_PER (as 0P_PER-1) by right clicking 0P_PER3, from that a dialog box appears.  In that I've selected 0P_PER3 and then clicked on offset variable and when I set the offset variable, it works for (0P_PER-1.etc, 0P_PER+1,etc..)
But if I want to have (1-0P_PER), then plz tell me how to define this restriction?
Plz explain me the steps to perform (1-0P_PER) restriction in BEx query designer in BW1.
I'm using SAP BI 7.2 gui.
    Expecting your reply soon,
    with Regards,

My requirement is that I want to have " 1-fiscal year"., But this I could not define using offset variables, since using offset we can define "fiscal year +1" or "fiscal year -1".
So there would be some other way to define "1-fiscalyear".  So Please help me to define "1-fiscalyear"  by giving me the steps.
    Thank you,

  • Char restriction in Bex Query Designer

    Hi Gurus,
Can anyone explain what is the use of the Characteristic Restriction Area in in the BEx Query designer
If i set 0CALYEAR =2008 in the Char Restriction and in the column definition i set the one of the column to display data from year 2009. Will it work ?
    Please advice
    Thank you
    BR

There are two type of characterstic restrcitions in the query. Global and local.
If you are createing a restrcited key figure or selection and restricting calday then it will be restricted to that particular key figure (and show 2008 data) and in the columns it will show you other years data (i.e. 2009 data).
But if you are using a global fiter in the filter tab of query designer, then it will be applicable to the whole query.

  • Hierarchy restrictions in BEx

    Hello BW Experts,
I am a beginner in SAP BW(ver 3.1).We have particular BEx query, where there is a characteristic in the filter part that is restricted by a particular hierarchy.
Now,I need to track the data at the infocube(over which the query is created) level. So,at the selection screen for the cube, what restrictions should be put for that particular characteristic? Is it all the characteristic values in the hierarchy, which are unfortunately, too many in number and might make the job rather tedious or is there any simpler alternative to view the data at the infocube level while applying the restrictions on the characteristic?
    Thanks in advance!!
    Regards,
    Minuj Sarma

    Hi,
One check you can do to validate the data, remove the Hierarchy for that particular char. then the data is displayed in the normal form and then validate. OR if not to remove the Hier. then check in hte particular hierarchy in the RSA1 under infoobject list..

  • Restriction on BEX gives medium description

    Hi Experts,
I made a user entry variable on Info object in the bex.
The variable can be changed in query navigation and has a default value.
When I open the query the default value exhibit is medium description and in the selection filter value I get short description.
The info object has short and medium text and the default on the IO BEX tab is short text and short description.
The IO also defines as short text in the Query.
How I can get a short description instead medium description in the filter value when I open the query?
    Regards
    Yaniv

    Try the following...
Right-click on the InfoObject in the InfoProvider and choose "Provider-Specific Properties". In this menu, change the Display setting to "7 Short Text".
    Hope this helps...

  • Delimited Org Unit(having end date Current date) are not coming in Bex output.

    HI All ,
I have problem with BEx query output while using the Org. Unit Time dependent Hierarchy structure. In ECC side some of the Org. Unit nodes were delimited or their end date set to less than current date. Now this hierarchy is loaded to BW on daily basis those Org. Unit also laoded to BW hierarchy and these nodesare not coming up in our query output. Client wants to see these unit data as it important to him.
    Please suggest  .
    Thanks,

    Hi Arvind,
As per my understanding, the valid to/end date for Hierarchy should be 31.12.9999. May I know what is Valid To in your case?
Did yo u check the change happend in ECC for hierarchy is reflecting in BW ?

  • Date Filter in BEx Query not applied to Webi Document

    Hi
I have a simple BEx Query on 0MATERIAL - with Article (0MATERIAL) and Created On Date (0CREATEDON) characteristics in the Rows and 1ROWCOUNT key figure in the columns.
If I restrict the BEx Query on 0MATERIAL to a single value, only that particular record is returned when I run the query in WebI - which shows Article and Created On Date.
However, if I restrict the BEx Query to a specific 0CREATEDON date, the WebI report ignores this restriction and returns ALL records in the InfoProvider 0MATERIAL.
If I run the BEx Query in the web, only those records with the particular restricted date are returned, so why does the WebI report ignore the BEx Query date restriction?  Any ideas where I am going wrong?
    Thanks
    Anton

    Hi Victor
Thanks for the reply.  It turns out even after refreshing the universe structure and exporting I had to shut down Webi and reopen it for the changes (date restriction) to take effect.
But thanks for the headsup on that bug/SAP note anyway - it is helpful to know.

  • Restricting access to Queries via Search

Does anyone have any ideas on restricting access to queries from the Bex search. We have folks that are using the search functionality of Bex and are finding queries that we have not been published to a reporting role. We instruct our query writers that when devloping queries, do not publish them to a reporting role until they are finalized and tested. We are finding that folks are using search in Bex and finding these queries that may be in the middle of development and trying ot use them. In other words, we would like to restrict the Bex search to just queries published to reporting roles.

    Hi Diago,
Our dilema is that restricting access of the search by query name (via the role) requires the query writer, when finished with the development of their query, to do a savas with a different technical name that falls into the role restrictions of the authorization. This then leaves two versions of the query out there until the original gets deleted, if the query writer happens to remember to do that. It would be great to limit the search mechanism to just published queries. What are other folks doing to get around this issue. It seems that everyone would be running into it unless the search could be restricted in such a manner.

  • Defining Exception Cells in BEx

Hi, what is cell restrictions in BEx, in help I found that the following help.
But practically I want to know how to use it and in which case we can use it, pls give me with expample.
    Use
When you define selection criteria and formulas for structural components and there are two structural components of a query, generic cell definitions are created at the intersection of the structural components that determine the values to be presented in the cell.
Cell-specific definitions allow you to define explicit formulas, along with implicit cell definition, and selection conditions for cells and in this way, to override implicitly created cell values. This function allows you to design much more detailed queries.
In addition, you can define cells that have no direct relationship to the structural components. These cells are not displayed and serve as containers for help selections or help formulas.
    Prerequisites
The query contains two structures. You can define exception cells only for queries which have two structures. You can use the one structure for characteristic values and key figures for the other. You can then define cells if these prerequisites have been met.
    Thanks

As help explains, you need two structures to enable cell editor in bex. In every query you have one structure for key figures, then you have to do another structure with selections or formulas inside.
Then having two structures, the cross among them results in a fix reporting area of n rows * m columns. The cross of any row with any column can be defined as formula in cell editor.
This is useful when you want to any cell had a diferent behaviour that the general one described in your query defininion.
For example imagine you have the following where % is a formula kfB/KfA * 100.
        kfA kfB  %
    chA  6   4   66%
    chB  10  2   20%
    chC  8   4   50%
Then you want that % for row chC was the sum of % for chA and % chB. Then in cell editor you are enable to write a formula specifically for that cell as sum of the two cell before. chC/% = chA/% + chB/% then:
        kfA kfB  %
    chA  6   4   66%
    chB  10  2   20%
    chC  8   4   86%

  • Adding characteristic to report makes data disappear(BEx)

Can anyone help me out regarding why records are disappearing from query(BEx) when any attribute of XYZ_SALES is added.

    Hi Sridhar,
Please check if there is any Restriction in BEX Query where you are excluding all records with 0MAT_SALES = #.
Also if master data 0mat_sales is not maintained no data will come for its attribute as well in the report i.e if that order/document is not present in master data it will not flow in report also.

  • Modeling Like, And, Or Restrictions

Is it possible to restrict in BEx Query Designer something like the following:

    WO_STATUS_CD = u201C*u201D AND
    LOCATION_CD = u201CAu201D
Or would it be necessary to set up flags on the back end for the Like and Or Conditions, and then restrict based on that in designer?

    Hi Kenneth
    1) you can use statistical FC means with input data your histoy and you outputr your proportional factor if you want e.g. to have an average of the last 13 or 24 months, with use of moving average simply, if you want to have a constant value
    2) you can use a calculated KF that copies from history to proportional factor by shifting by one year, using PERIODID shift. THere are example in the SAP model for a year-1 lag calculation
    3) You can do as in 2, but in addition make use of any additional formula according to your needs
    4) you can NOT have a dynamic calculation, because prerequisite for disaggregation is that you keyfigure used in the fisaggregation
    - is stored and not calculated
    - has the same base planning level than the KF itself

Mostly cleaning.. Ensure the data is harmonic & coherent, i.e same case, lettering etc. Perform the update in master, run the ACR via RSATTR to reflect the changes. If you have used some restrictions in BEx reports, ensure they have been removed or changed. It's nice to learn you are pro-active than reactive.. Anyways, just keep posting.

    Greetings Jeff.
Does this behaviour happens when you try to update a simple VI from LabVIEW 2009 to LabVIEW 2013? I tried opening 2 subVIs (ones that hadn't been recompiled) and there were no errors, the VI opened with no issues.
After you did the mass compile, does the BEX error still appears? After mass compile, the BEX error still occurs when I open the top-level VI.
Here are some suggestions that might help you with the BEX error.

  • Exception colors

    Hi experts,
We've created a query under BEx Query Designer with Exception and on the <b>Display</b> tab flagged options "<b>Exception affects characteristic cells</b>" and chose "<b>Rows</b>"; and option "<b>Exception Affects Data cells</b>" and "All <b>structure elements</b>".
When we execute the query on Internet Explorer, the result is ok, the characteristic and all the KF's are colored according the definitions, but on Excel it doesn't. Only the KF that is chosen in the "<b>Definition</b>" tab has the colors.
BW is version 7.0 with SP 13 and on Front-End/BEx SP 13.
    Does anybody has a solution?
