Portable collection fails

I am trying to do a portable collection on a disconnected workstation. It
is a fairly vanilla configuration with not much configuration done. I
created the portable collector using the wizard in the ZAM manager, copied
the folder contents to a removable hard drive, then plugged the HD into the
target system.
When I run the collector from a command prompt ["COLLECT /D
f:\CollectionData"], it hums for a minute or so, then displays three
identical error messages: "The system cannot find the file specified." and
the prompt is sitting in the current "temp" directory. When I look in the
target data directory, there is an "error.log" file with one line:
"COLLECT2: Directory full: "F:\CollectionData". I tried again using the C:
drive as the target with the same result, except that the error.log file
says that my C:\ drive is full.
I have looked in the documentation, but I see nothing on troubleshooting
this process. Any ideas as to what is going on?

That is the way I originally attempted to run it. I checked again with the
"/M" switch to display the menus. I get the same errors. I see there is an
IR5 for ZAM 7.5 just released - maybe I should try that.

  • Unable to Load Portable Collection File

Hello, I created a Portable Collector and am trying to load this file into my Zenworks 7.5 (R12) but I keep getting the following error message when I use the wizard to import it:
"There were problems loading 1 workstation inventory files. For details, refer to the Manager event log or the error log file from which you loaded data."
I'm not sure where the Manager event log is nor the error log file that they're referring to. I checked the application and system event logs in MS event viewer but that showed nothing. I resorted to checking the install path event logs and found this in TSCMgrEvent20080617.log:

I check the inventory from the web console and the computer isn't even listed there. Can anyone shed any light? I've searched the forums and the KB and found nothing at all. I need to get this portable collector up by this weekend...any help would be greatly appreciated!

A couple of things... first, you MUST load a Portable Collection using the same Collection Server as created the Portable Collector. Second, it sounds very much like somehow your Portable.Ini has gotten dinged. That's not a file you can simply edit and save; if you try, ZAM will stop working. It needs to be updated in the File Store before it'll be accepted. That's a security measure to prevent outside influences from altering that file (as others) for nefarious purposes.
Please contact Novell Technical Support and tell them that your Portable.Ini needs to be replaced. They'll send you a good copy of Portable.Ini and set you up with UpdateFS, which will register the good copy in your FileStore.
Another possibility... are you running Oracle instead of MSSQL? It's possible that one or more filenames in the File Store are out of sync with their names in the DB. Oracle being case-sensitive, that's very very easy to do. Again, Novell Technical Support can help you through fixing it if it's true. It's not something that can be simply remedied by oneself.

I get the same message if I try to use a portable collector creating from another server (but changing the collectionserverOID in CPS.ini). Will this work? is there something else I have to change?
I've noticed that when I create the portable collector, I only get the following files:
    checkpath.exe
    collect.bat
    coptset.kb
    cps.ini
    disk1.tsz (4.4 megs)
    end.bat
    fec.kb
    findst.exe
    ignore.dat
    lastprog.dsk
    logappnd.exe
    pextract.exe
    setcwd.tem
    spacew32.exe
    udf.kb
    zamstr.bat
When I run this collector, I get a "COLLECT2.BAT is not recognized as an internal or external command."
The collector that works has a bunch of other files including collect2.bat
    Any ideas?

  • Compressed PDF Dictionary Entry w/ Portable Collections in PDF 1.7/Acrobat 9.0?

First of all, I apologize if this is in the wrong forum, but I thought it could potentially be tied into the SDK.
Anyhow, I am in the process of writing a program for verifying PDF file structure and whether or not the file adheres to the current spec.  A current issue I have encountered is a seemingly compressed PDF dictionary entry inside the PDF file.  This seems to only occur with files that use Portable Collections, and the strange thing is that the beginning of the entry is in plaintext, but then it gets compressed somewhere along the way (with no corresponding /Filter entry).  Of course Acrobat 9 reads the file without issue, but I cant for the life of me discern what compression is actually being used.  Any help was to what is actually occurring here would be most appreciated.
Here's an example (converted from hex to ascii so some of the caracters may be incorrect):
    <</Subtype/XML/Length 2986/Type/Metadata?W}pT????&???$?_?8]7~??6??kM??}Y?l $!?20??
    Raw string:
    0D3C3C2F537562747970652F584D4C2F4C656E67746820323938362F547970652F4D65746164617461AC577D70 54D515DFCD269B0F1C24885FE9385D377E00F336EFFB6B4DA2D97D59126C202421093230BEC
As you can see, the dictionary entry begins in cleartext and then gets compressed along the way.  This doesn't seem to be Ascii85 and couldn't be Flate, right? So does that mean that it is run-length?
    Thanks!

Can you please provide an actual PDF with this?

  • Inventorycollection ENTITY_Mib:device sensed but collection failed

    Dears,
It appears in LMS 4.2, Inventory Collection, is trying to query some POE MIB or MIB entries that older devices don't support.
This makes devices fail saying: 'device sensed but collection failed'
My biggest issue is that RME categorically bins all device data already collected, making the device disappear from inventory reports.
Rather than test if a mib is supported it just assume it is there. !!!!??? (what about some backward compatibility?)
    BugId CSCub09829 describes the issue:
I was able to fix the issue for some older 3750's with package LibInventory ver 3.6.1, but I have several other 'older' device types giving me the same type of error.
    Anyone else seeing this?
Anyone got a solution from cisco?
    Cheers,
    Michel

I heard noises that a fix will be available  in LMS 4.2.2.
I really wonder how this got through QA in first place.
    Cheers,
    Michel

  • Data collection failing

    LMS 4.1 W2k8 R2
I recently installed 17 stacks of 3560V2 switches at a site and added them to LMS4.1.  What I have found is that data collection is failing for all but the top switch in the stack.  In other workds, in some cabinets I may have 4 switches connected back to a 6500 core.  Data collection succeeds for only the switch connected to the core.  UT info is not collected for the switches that fail data collection.
If I go to the device status dashboard I see that I have data collection succeeding for 56 devices and failing for 96 devices.  For the devices that fail some are listed as unreachable and others as never-reachable.  In either case, the following is suggested as a resolution:
    Verify the following :
    1. Device is reachable using ping.
    2. Verify that DCR is configured with correct credentials for the device.
These devices are reachable.  Inventory collection is succeeding.  If I test reachability in device center I get successes across the board - even for SSH, though no username is specified in DCR so I can't see how that works.
The 17 stacks I just installed are configured as clusters in those cabinets that have more than 1 switch.  However, they are not managed as clusters by LMS.  They all have IP addresses.  I just use clustering to facilitate bouncing around a stack from a telnet command line.
I deleted one of these switches and re-added.  Now ping, HTTP, SSHv1 & v2 succeed in device center - but everything else fails.  When I run a credential verification job on this switch it reports SNMP read and write success, telnet & enable success, and SSH "no value to test".  The credential verification results are as I would expect.
I am at a loss at this point.  How do I troubleshoot the data collection issue?

Somtimes it is working for 10 days correctly, and then one day it is not successful for 70 out of ~150 device. Then t is successfull for few days, then again fails for  86 devices. Collction is scedueld in the evening so devices are not overloaded, nor there is some other job in LMS running at the same time.
         Any ideas?
         Thanks,
         Marija

The following did resolve my issue
The bug is fixed in the one of the latest device packages for LMS, SharedSwimIOS.RME525.v2-13-3. The release notes for it is here: http://www.cisco.com/web/software/283418817/118429/SharedSwimIOS.RME525.v2-13-3.readme.txt
Before applying that device package update, the following prerequisites need to be met:
    - LMS 4.2.5
    - MDF 1.92 (or higher) update : https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=284259296&flowid=37207&softwareid=283716219&release=Mdf.%201.92&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest
    - LibSwim.RME525.v2-13-1.zip & SharedDcmaIOS.RME525.v5-1-2.zip device packages already installed. Those two files and the  SharedSwimIOS.RME525.v2-13-3 file can be found here: https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=284259296&flowid=37207&softwareid=283418817&release=AutoDev%285.8%29&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest

  • Management Data Warehouse Data Collection fails due to login failure

    Hello,
I am trying to set up a Management Data Warehouse on a server other than the one I want statistics of.  Unfortunately, each upload fails because the data collector upload job cannot log onto the warehouse server.  For some inexplicable reason the process is trying to log on using domain\serverName.  Obviously no such user exists, and the process fails.  Below is the error message I see in the logs:
Description: An error occurred with the following error message: "An error occurred while verifying the result set schema against the output table schema. The data collector cannot connect to the management data warehouse. : Login failed for user 'domain\server name$'.".
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Zachary

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb677211.aspx says
The data warehouse is installed on a different computer from the data collector. Probable causes are network connectivity problems or an unavailable host server. This error only affects upload packages.
Handling: Because there is no advance notification about a server shutdown, this error cannot be anticipated and handled automatically. The error is logged and after a brief interval, the upload is restarted. After four unsuccessful upload attempts, the collection set is disabled and its state is written to the execution log.
    Note:
Any data that is collected while the collection set is running is kept and accumulated. If the upload package can connect to the data warehouse, the accumulated data is uploaded.

  • LMS 3.2 RME 4.3.1 Inventory collection failing for switches

I have 6 switches that inventory is failing for.  They do run the 12.2(33)SXI3 software but I have the CSCtb16925-1.0  patch installed.  I've tried to increase the SNMP timeout for the devices but they still fail.
    Ideas?
    Chris Jasztrab

You did not properly increase the SNMP timeout.  Go to RME > Devices > Device Management > RME Devices, and edit the attributes of the device in question.  Perform an inline edit.  Click on the device name, then change the existing SNMP timeout value to 10.  Then save your changes, and apply them on the previous screen.  Then inventory collection should work.

  • LMS 3.1 Inventory Collection fails

I have the same problem as the following post:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/176673?tstart=0&viewcondensed
Also, LMS fails inventory collection every time.  I click on the "failed" link from LMS Portal, but the page never comes up detailing why it has failed.  This is after I fixed an issue with group policy overwriting the "Logon as batch" setting for casuser.  Everything appeared to be up and running normally again, when I noticed the next day that inventory polling/collection is failing.  pdshow attatched.
The following error message continues to show up in the rme_ctm.log file:
    [ Tue Feb 22  07:40:55 CST 2011 ] URN_NOT_FOUND : urn "JRM" : Not found !!
The last entry in the CTMJrmServer.log file is:

I've been blindly trying to chase this down and getting nowhere.

  • VCloud Usage Meter - Collection failed

    Hi,
Something odd going on with our UM 3.1. Collection was working until a few days ago, where after the 7am one it failed and has failed ever since, complaining it can't login due to bad username/password. The user is a domain account, the password is correct (even reset it to the same one), however if the Web interface, if I try to edit it, under Products (vCenter Server), I get the same error. I deleted it from there but now can't add it since I get the same error:
"could not connect to the vCenter Server: IPADDRESS; com.vmware.vim25.InvalidLoginFaultMsg: Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password."
Tried creating a new service account in the same OU in AD and add it to the web interface but get the same error. Both accounts are present in the UM's Permissions in vCenter, with Read-Only access.
vCenter's Events show "cannot login domain\account@IP" (different IP, this one is for the VM, not the vCenter as the one above).
LDAP settings in the Web interface are blank, as was the case.
No changes were made to the server or VM in between 7am and 8am when this first started.
Hoping someone's seen this before and can help, I've ran out of ideas.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dan

This issue also got resolved some times back but didn't got chance to share the steps which helped me.
The issue was with my dns entry in /etc/resolv.conf file of the usage meter server. The DNS servers were correctly specified in this file but the search path was missing.
We were adding all our vCenter Servers to usage meter using the FQDN and due to the missing search path usage meter was unable to poll to these vCenter Server.
I added "search xyz.com" to the /etc/resolv.conf file and restarted the network service once and bingo the usage meter start collecting the stats from vCenter server.
