Portal user creation- Disable password Option

Hi all,
Can i disable password for all my users.
we have an option to disable password while creating users.
i tried creating but it doesnot allow me to login with password field left balnk--it says "Authentication failed. Logon with password not allowed"

Disable password doesn't mean you can login without password. It doesn't allow the user to logon directly i.e., This deactivates password-based logon. This means that the user can no longer log on using a password, but only with Single Sign-On variants (X.509 certificate, logon ticket).
This is useful if you do not require password-based logon because logon is performed exclusively in other ways (such as using logon tickets, see SAP Note 177895). In this case, deactivating the password increases security, as passwords that are not used are usually still initial.Although the deactivation of passwords cannot be made retrospectively, the administrator can define a new initial password at any time.

Tray as appearing in the Portal User Creation screen

Hi all,
I am on WAS 6.40 SP15, NWDS 2.0.15 and EP 6.0 SP15.
When I place 'tray' ui element in my application, I see one vertical line on the left side and horizontal line. I have to remove these lines.
Can anyone suggest how to modify the 'tray' ui element so that I get a tray as appearing in the Portal User Creation screen.

Then you will have to modify the standard UWL configuration file.
If your task looks like a standard task (maybe you copied a standard task and modified it slightly), you have to find the ItemType corresponding to the standard task in the UWL configuration file then copy this ItemType and adjust it for you custom task. Please take a look at my last post in another thread : Re: UWL - how to approve purchase requisitions
If your task is 100% custom then you'll have to find out what is behind the Approve and Reject buttons in the Business Workflow and modify the UWL configuration file accordingly. For instance if a function module is used to approve or reject the request you can define your approve and reject actions using the FunctionModuleActionHandler. Can I use SAP HR to drive ESS Portal user creation?

We are implementing a new instance of SAP HR and Portal for ESS and MSS and I am not sure of all the steps that need to be completed so any guidance / tips would be greatly appreciated.
Company currently has an LDAP - but not used extensively. Not all employees currently in LDAP as not all have network ids. All employees will have a SAP account to enable ESS (via Kiosks etc). ESS iViews in Portal will call SAP HR and possibly SAP BW. We have an instance of SAP already and user admin maintained via CUA - this will continue.
Scenario:
My initial thoughts are that we try to use SAP HR as the leading system to drive the ESS Portal users and access. Basically I want to create the user in SAP and assign them an ESS SAP role... then through syncronization have the user created in the Portal and have the correct ESS Portal assigned (in the Portal)
My thinking so far is to go the following way;
1) Create User Master Record in SAP (SU01)
2) Hire employee into the org structure (via HR processes)
3) Populate Infotype 0105 with SAP username
4) Populate Infortype 1016 - with SAP role to be assigned to allow ESS access (not sure about this aspect) or role could be assigned in 1) above
I am not sure of the next steps - I think there must be a way in an SAP table to map the ESS SAP role to the ESS Portal Role (is this via WP3R?)
then I am hoping that a standard job can be run (is this RSLDAPSYNC_USER) that will create the user in the Portal (UME?) and assign the correct Portal role ?
(obviously configuration needed)
For MSS and HR Power users - we would continue to assign SAP roles via SU01.
Can anyone assist with;
- Is my thinking correct in terms of how this should / could work?
- in SAP how can I map SAP Roles to Portal Roles ?
- will syncronization in SAP create the user in Portal and assign the role ? what do I need to configure?

I just dont know if this can throw some light on your prob.'
In our Orgn we had around 250 ess users and 200 sapr/3 users. Some of the r/3 users also logon to ess via their r/3 uname and password.
What we have done is like follows:
1. Created a role for only the ess users ZHRESS. For this i asked the HR functional people with sap_all profile to do all the job which the ESS users are supposed to do and tracer the authorization via tcode st01. We created the role on the basis of this trace report.
2. For the purely ESS users we created the users via tcode HRUSER and assigned then with the above role.
3. For the R/3 users who are supposed to avail the ess facility we assigned them with the role ZHRESS role in addition to the other roles assigned to them to carry out their normal R/3 transactions. Then we mapped their R/3 uname to their employee no via PA30 infotype 105.
4. Tcode HRUSER saved time which would have consumed had we done it via su01 and moreover it picked Name etc data from the HR master table. In HRUSER tcode , setting the user attributes helps to define what roles the users are to be assigned, what should be their initial password etc.

Portal User Creation Problem

While Creating user in Portal i am getting following error Please help
Current user has user creation permissions in the UME, but cannot create users in the back-end system (data source). The original and possibly untranslated message was: "No active writeable datasource found for user creation, check your Persistence Configuration.".

Hi,
If it is ABAP+JAVA stack, we have to create user only in ABAP stack only. We cannot create user in portal. Once we create user in ABAP stack , we can login to portal using that user.
If there is permission probelm, please assign the permission to the respective user that is " manage_all" action.
Please let me know if you have any clarifications.

In Portal Anonymous mode - Change password option not coming- login fails

Hi Experts,
We are having some application which requires login in anonymous mode. When we click the application and give the user id password, it loggs in properly, there is no problem in that.
But if the password is reset by administrator, then when entering the reset password given by admin it should ask to change the password. This is happening in normal scenario(/irj/portal), but when try the same in anonymous mode(irj/portal/anonymous) where the prompt is from the login required application, then it says login failed instead of giving the change password and confirm password screen.
Appreciate your help in solving this issue. I hope many would have faced similar situation.

Hi Yusuf.
Do you use a standard or custom login module for your application?
More likely the used login module does not have a logic that handles such scenario as a change of user's password.
In this case you need to implement a custom module with a required functionality.

Please check whether the UME is ABAP or JAVA stack.
In case of ABAP+ Java stack; you should follow below steps:
1. Open Config tool:
C:\usr\sap\<SYSTEM ID>\JCxx\j2ee\configtool --> configtool.bat
Example: C:\usr\sap\Y76\JC03\j2ee\configtool --> configtool.bat
2. In Config tool: cluster-data>Global Server configuration>services--> com.sap.security.core.ume.service
3. set the values for below ume properties:
ume.persistance.data_source_configuration = dataSourceConfiguration_abap.xml
r3.connection.master.ashost = <backend system hostname>(ex: ls4079.wdf.sap.corp)
r3.connection.master.client = <enter clint number> (ex: 000)
r3.connection.master.sysnr = <system number>(ex: 09)
r3.connection.master.user = <comuser>(the sapjsf or communication user which we created in backend system)
r3.connection.master.password = <enter comuser password> ((it is the password of the comuser which is in the backend system)

User Creation causes Password Service to Crash

Hi All,
I have 3 Intel XServes and 2 Mac Pros on different sites which all have the same issue. When I create a user in Workgroup Manager, the following error occurs and the Password Service crashes:
"Got unexpected error
Error of type Not a known DirStatus (-1) on line 1922
of /SourceCache/ServerManagerUserGeneral/
ServerManagerUserGeneral-193.4.1/
UserAdvancedPluginView.mm"
As well as the password service crashing, it causes all other users to stop authenticating until the server is rebooted.
If I create a user with the default shortname (i.e. untitled_1) then the service does not crash. I have reinstalled the OS, replicated my build on a PPC machine with no issues but continue to have this error on the Intel machines. I have even tried installing the server OS onto an Intel iMac just to test and it does the same thing, including OSX Server 10.4.7 and 10.4.8
Has anyone else come across this or have any suggestions on what may have caused it?

Make sure that your WebDynpro Applications Authentication property is set to True.
To get Portal User Details you can use the following UME Api's
try

this Iuser objects holds all the Properties of Portal User Except its Password.
and You can retrieve it like this
loggedInUser.getFullName();
if you know the Logon id of Portal User you can Also get the IUser object like this:--
IUser user = UMFactory.getUserByLogonId("Administrator");
To use UME APIS in Webdynpro you have to refer com.sap.security.api.jar in the Build path of your WebDynpro Application.
If You Are Using NWDI then you have to use the com.sap.security.api.sda lib Dc available in NWDI for Compilation in WD DC

New Portal User options are disabled when trying to create a new User

I just want to know if you are able to modify the attributes of an existing user. If not then you have been assigned the User Admin role (read only). Please check that. If yes then revert.

ISE 1.2 Guest portal user cannot change their passwords

I have a WLC 5508(version 7.6) and a server installed the ISE (version 1.2.1.198)，Now we configured the CWA，Use guest portal as an employee and guest login url，We can use the manually create internal user and password successfully logged in, and we set up allow guest users to change password in Multi-Portal, but the user can not change the password in the guest portal ,I suspect the change password option on the Guest Portal actually works? Can anyone tell me how to change their own username password in the guest portal ?

Requiring Guests to Change Password
You can allow or require guest users to change their password after their initial account credentials are created by the sponsor. If guest users change their passwords, sponsors cannot provide guests with their login credentials if they are lost. The sponsor must create a new guest account.
You can either allow guests to change their passwords, or you can require that they do it at expiration and at first login. To require internal users using a guest portal to change their password upon their next login, choose Administration > Identity Management > Identities > Users . Select the specific internal user from the Network Access Users list and enable the change password check box.
Before You Begin
Create a Guest portal or modify the DefaultGuestPortal. This setting is specific to each Guest portal.
Step 1 Choose Administration > Web Portal Management > Settings > Guest > Multi-Portal Configuration.
Step 2 Check the Guest portal to update and click Edit .
Step 3 Click the Operations tab.
Step 4 Check either or both options:
Allow guest users to change password
Require guest users to change password at expiration and first login
Step 5 Click Save .

GRC 10: Initial password for multiple users creation in a ARQ request???

I was trying to create a request in ARQ for multiple users. I noticed that, I could add all the necessary required information for multiple users using the template. I added the roles as well. However, I could not set the initial password for multiple users as the tab "User System Details" (where the initial password is provided for a single user) is disabled!!!
The users were successfully created in the R/3 system. However, due to non-availability of initial password, these users could not log into the R/3 system.
May I know how to set the initial password for multiple users?

I was trying to test this multiple user creation scenario. But I am surprise to get a template where in I have only below mentioned fields:
1. User Name
2. User Id
3. Email
I filled these details and uploaded. Then filled the "User Access" details. While submitting the request, I got the error:
"Last name is not mentioned for user id XXX"
But there is not such column in provided template by GRC!
I added 2 columns: First Name and Last Name and saved it and uploaded again. These details are not picked up!
Following are the only columns shown:
1. User Name
2. User Id
3. Email
4. Manager
Out of above, only "Manager" field is editable and others are disabled.
Last time I remember, I has got complete template with all the columns. Unfortunately, I have deleted it and not available with me now.
Any idea you have why am I getting such incomplete template?

Disable "Change Password" option in Comms Express

I need to disable/remove the Change Password option in Communications Express. I'm using patch level 122793-30. How do I do this? Are there any instructions out there for this? I see them for Convergence....which I have installed also but I have users who still use Comms Express.

Portal Users Passwords expiring

In 9.02 it seems my portal users passwords seem to expire for no reason. When it happens, I have to go in and manually re-set their passwords. Is this a bug or is there some place to control this.

Set the number of seconds before password expiration that the directory server
sends the user a warning. By default the "Password Expiration Warning"
parameter is set to 0, which disables the expiration warning.
Also if the users need to be able to login after the password expiration set
the "Number of Grace Logins after Password Expiration" parameter to a
number greater than 0.
Change these parameters in the following manner:
1. Start the Oracle Directory Manager from the home of the iAS Infrastructure
2. Login as the OID administrator, i.e. orcladmin
3. Click on the + on the left of Password Policy Management
4. Click on your password policy to change the settings on the right pane
5. Set the Password Expiration Warning in seconds i.e. 259200 for 3 days.
6. Set the Number of Grace Logins after Password Expiration to a greater than 0
value i.e. 1. This will add a last opportunity for the user after his/her
password expired.
