Pre Order Payment

I was wondering if anyone new if you can charge a pre order to your account or if you have to pay out right for it? If you do have to pay out right for a pre order can you charge it to the account after it is released?

    I see the awesome new Windows phones have caught your eye Drowens. In most cases, the phones can be billed directly to your wireless account as long as your account is eligible and the total does not exceed $400. If you do chose to pay outright for a phone, your credit card will not be billed until the order is being shipped. You can start your order at http://solutions.vzwshop.com/windowsphone and after logging into your account, you'll get a chance to see if your account qualifies to have the device billed to the account.

    That’s a great question! Pre-ordering games in-store comes with the luxury of only needing to put down a deposit of $5 on most video game pre-orders. However, we do know that at times, our customers would like to just pay the deposit in full and be done with it! I’ll gladly clarify the details around deposits on in-store pre-orders at Best Buy.
    As zztoluca has stated, the $5 deposit when pre-ordering in-store is only a minimum amount needed to secure your copy of any given game. If you wish to pay the full amount, you should be able to do so at the time of pre-order only. I don’t believe you can add to an existing deposit once the pre-order has been created. Also, for clarification, if you’re a Gamers Club Unlocked (GCU) member, you likely won’t see your GCU benefits apply until you pick up the game and fully complete the transaction. GCU benefits usually do not reflect on the pre-order receipt itself.

    If this is your first pre-order with Best Buy, I can understand why you might be confused about seeing your funds back on your credit card.  Fortunately, I can illuminate this mystery quite easily!
    When you initially pre-order a product on BestBuy.com, we will place an authorization on your credit card for the amount of the purchase, to make sure that you have the funds necessary to pay for it.  Generally, that authorization will drop off after 3-5 business days depending on your credit card company or bank.  Once the order is ready to ship, we will then charge your card for the purchase amount.  You can find more information on our Conditions of Use for BestBuy.com here.

  • Pre-Order Payment & Refund

    I pre-ordered a tablet that has not been released yet, I did not think I would be charged until Best Buy had the unit and could guarantee me the unit.  You can imagine my surprise when the total came out immediately! (over 2 weeks away from the expected release date!)  I was wondering if anyone had any information as to how long it would take to receive a refund if I canceled my pre-order about an hour and a half after placing it?

    It is possible the charges you were seeing was an authorization to confirm you have the credit, not an actual bill. This happens a lot with pre-order games.
    I am not affiliated with Best Buy nor have I ever been employed by Best Buy. All of my thoughts and posts are of my own opinion and personal experience.

  • Pre-Order Rejected Payment

    So...  I went online last night on Apple's website to pre-order 2 new iPhone 5's.  AT&T's site was stalling.  We have a family plan so I tried to add both to the same order, but it wouldn't let me - so I did them in two seperate orders.  I guess my bank saw 2 $400+ charges try and go through and blocked one.  I got an email saying "Thank you for your order" and the est. arrival date as the 21's.  But then today I was notified they needed a different form of payment for the second one (my bank blocked it thinking it was fraud).  I called and got it cleared up and resumbitted and it says everything's good now - and the est. arrival date on both phones are still Sept. 21's but my husband is really worried that this put one of the phones at the "back of the line," and one will be delayed.
    According to the site, again, everything looks cool - but I was just wondering if anyone has had this happened in previous pre-orders and knows for sure if this delays anything or not

  • Pre-order pickup, reward certificat​e, and payment option questions

    I pre-ordered an item on bestbuy.com for pickup at a local store. When I got there, I asked if I can use my reward certificate and the customer rep said that I couldn't. Is that true? 
    Another person next to her said she could back out the charges and re-enter the item, but when I told her I got it at a special pre-order price (gamers club unlocked price) she said she wouldn't be able to honor it.
    Also, if I bought an item online and picked it up at the store. Can I change my payment method at the register? I asked someone a couple weeks ago and they said they couldn't change payment methods.

    Hi there Mcbutters-
    We appreciate that you choose Best Buy to place your pre-order!  I’m sorry to hear about the confusion you’ve had with this order and some others around how to get that reward certificate added to an order.  Hopefully I can help clear some things up for you.
    To answer your first paragraph, that it technically true.  When you place an order for in-store pickup, you are charged for the order when the store indicates it is ready for pickup.  At that point, the payment method cannot be changed.  However, once the transaction is complete, the store may be able to perform a return and then re-ring the purchase for you.  Keep in mind however, that any funds used from gift cards, reward certificates and your credit card would not be immediately available as in general it takes a few business days for those funds to go back on the cards or accounts.
    This leads me to my next point, which is generally we are unable to modify the payment method beyond changing a credit card on your order beyond 30 minutes after the order has been placed.  While your credit card is not charged until the item ships or the store indicates that it is ready for pickup, the card is generally authorized right away for 3-5 business days.  This is the same time frame we offer for changing shipping or pickup options as well, you can find more information on that here.  Another option would be to do as Batman1982 suggested and cancel your order to then place a new one.  Again, it may take a few business days for funds to return to gift cards, your My Best Buy account, etc.
    However, there should be no reason why they would not have been able to apply the 20% off new games software benefit that you get from being a Gamers Club Unlocked member.

  • Pre-order movies - Why no invoices and proof of agreed payment?

    I pre ordered a movie to save some money..  (14.99 vs 19.99) then the day comes when it comes out and my invoice says its 19.99.
    Upon doing a little research, I realized, I never got an invoice of my pre-order showing the amount I actually pre-ordered for. Then, looking at my account page to check my pending pre-orders, they only show the movie and a cancel button.
    You really don't get a confirmation how much you agreed to pay until the movie is out and ready to be downloaded. (Day you are actually charged)
    This is the first time, I am not happy with Apple..
    In my opinion you SHOULD confirm via email the person's pre-order and the amount he or she agreed to pay at the time of ordering. If you go and change the prices on me, why should I bother to pre-order anything? Smartly you leave the customer with no records, unless he or she takes a screenshot. (Which I now did and I have a little database to reference) If I am wrong, please advise why we don't get an invoice etc.. I would love to be proven wrong here. Especially, since I am a HUGE apple fan and this is the first time, I am truly disappointed and have the feeling of being duped. (Something Apple never had to stoop to, since the products speak for themselves)

    No worries, I appreciate you taking the time to reply.
    I was more hoping for someone at Apple to reply and advise on this "invoicing system" .. as well as raise the issue to other customers.
    Amongst my remaining 4 pre orders, I have one, of "Interstellar". By the time I figured out that I am actually charged more than I recall paying for at the time of my pre order, the charge went up to 19.99. When I placed the pre order, I am fairly certain it was 14.99. No proof at this point and of course, I can go and cancel that pre-order. But I would also cancel the original price I purchased this at. If only there was some way to track it. (that somewhat the reason why i started the post) All other pre-orders, I went in, clicked the purchase button and took a screenshot of the popup that notifies me that I already purchased the item. Thus, proving the purchase as well as showing the price in the background. (while it is at 14.99).
    Anyways, I am probably making that sound more complicated than it needs to be.. still, the question remains.. how do I or other customers know what they paid for in a pre-sale? Once the item is out and the movie confirmed as purchased via invoice at the date of release, there is no going back.. no returns and at the same time, the customer can't proof a thing. (nor would I want to then get into a "he said, she said" situation with apple)
    If I don't get some sort of resolutions, pre-orders will simply not be worth it. I don't want to fight each measly charge via screenshot proofs etc..
    Sadly as I am moving to a complete digital movie library for all my purchases, this really is something I would love to get resolved. My library is far to big, to suddenly start moving to an amazon digital library.

  • $10 Rewards for Destiny pre-order and $10 Bestbuy Giftcard with Evil Within pre-order

    I have yet to receive either of these.  I understand my Destiny purchase still says pending (although I received my $10 rewards for Madden 15 within a week of me picking up purchase).  When should I receive the $10 rewards certificate? 
    Also, I pre-ordered Evil Within months ago and I see now that anyone that pre-orders get a $10 giftcard.  Shouldn't I still get this? 
    If anyone can help and correct this, it would be greatly appreciated.  My member # - (removed per forum guidelines)

    Whenever a BestBuy.com order is cancelled (or returned), any funds held for that order are automatically refunded to the original form of payment. This process typically takes 2-3 business days for gift cards, while reward certificates are applied back to your My Best Buy account in the same length of time. For debit and credit cards, the exact timeframe required before the funds are available again is dependent on the card's issuing bank.
    If you no longer have the original gift card, then we can issue a replacement with the remaining balance.     This is really bad customer service. Because they had to guess on the iPhone 3G measurements, I need to pay out of pocket to get a replacement (shipping cost)??

    EVERYONE... I pre-ordered also and got the original one on but it didn't look great so I called and got the new redesigned one sent to me.
    IT IS TERRIBLE. The redesigned one is worse than the first one. The front screen wraps around the edges of the phone. If you haven't looked there is a seam that runs around the front glass piece. This causes major air bubbles and making it impossible to put the redesigned on on.
    Also the back has its problems too.
    Best solutions.
    1. return it all and get your money back.
    2. get another one reshipped but make sure it is the original.
    I got the original one shipped to me again and got it on correctly but after a few days it keeps fraying up. Whats next......

    You will need payment details on your account when the pre-order is released, they aren't charged for until they are released and you download it - you also might not be able to pre-order something if you don't have any payment details or sufficient balance on your account, I haven't tried it so I'm not sure.

    I have experienced this exact same issue for a Pre-order album as well.  I would recommend canceling the Pre-order and download it again as it most likely has not been charged.  This article will walk you though the process.

    I pre-ordered a song over a week ago and it became available this morning. I clicked the link in the email to download the song but it wouldn't work. I didn't have my payment details on my itunes at the time I pre-ordered but I have it on now and it's saying i've purchased the song but it isn't available in downloads or purchases.

    Hi, 
    I plan on pre ordering the iPhone at full price. I am on a family plan, but I am not the Account Holder. I am authorized on the account, but I understand that I will have to be signed onto the account holder's account to be able to pre order. My only concern is will I be able to enter in my own credit card information? I don't want it to automatically charge it to the account holder's credit card. Does anyone know if I have the option to enter in my own credit card information? Thanks, and sorry if this has already been asked!

    I believe you are given various options for payment at checkout - bill to account, or provide credit card information. I would think any valid credit card should work, especially since not every account holder necessarily has a credit card "on file".

  • Reward Points for pre-order $?

    I pre-ordered Sunset Overdrive the day before release and also started a new GCU membership either before or after that transaction.  I placed $5 on the game since the 20% discount for GCU wouldn't apply to until pick up so I couldn't accurately pay off the game as part of my pre-order.
    Upon picking up my copy I received the $5 off the post 20% discount (and an additional $2.50 came off from an old BB store credit I had).  My final for the game itself was $40.46.  There were a few other items on the receipt that granted some points toward my next gift card but if you add the total for my entire receipt that was paid out (not uncliding the store credit.  Instead of receiving $45.25 worth of points I received just the $40 worth of points and my original pre-order purchase it reflecting zero points earned.  Both transactions are reading as Pending still so I'm not sure if that's the problem or what.  I'm  concerned that if I had paid $40 worth of pre-order and my final pickup out of pocket cost was like $1-2 would I only have received $2 worth of points?  If so I'll never spend more than $5 for a pre-order and the victory pre-order $10 credit you want to lure us in with turns out to be $5 only.
    Just curious to if the pre-order value (when actual cash and not a trade in or trade credit) will count for points after all the transactions go from pending to final.

    Enuf is correct on both counts: it typically takes 15-20 days for points to post, and no points are earned for portions of purchases paid for using gift cards, store credit or reward certificates as payment.
