Premiere pro cs6 capture settings/media offline

I'm trying to capture footage from my Sony HDV camera to Premiere pro cs6. After capturing it shows up in my project as an mp3 file and when I transfer to the timeline it says media offline. Can anyone please help?? When I import a file from cs5 project it says media offline also. When I import say an .flv file it works fine. I have matched the capture setting to that of cs5 so I'm rather confused...

To restore default preference settings and plug-in cache at the same time, hold down Shift-Alt (Windows) or Shift-Option (Mac OS) while the application is starting. Release the Shift-Alt keys or Shift-Option key when the splash screen appears.
Try if this works. It is weird that this happens. I have never had it with CS5+/6 both with Win7 and Win8.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 not locating media, freezing

For the last couple of days, Premiere Pro on my laptop (15" Apple Retina MacBook Pro, 12gb ram, 2.7GHz i7 - USB 3.0 Lacie drive) has been having trouble locating media. When I open a project, the "Locating Media" diologe shows the progress bar start moving, then stop and not move again. Hitting "Cancel" makes the pinwheel of patience come up. When I use the "Command + Option + ESC" command, Premiere Pro CS6 is not shown as "Not Responding". Force quitting the app and restarting the computer doesn't do anything to change this behavior.
Would appreciate any guidence on how to remedy this.

    Good Day,
I am using Premiere Pro CS6 and I have been been doing metalogging for my film. I am having this issue of locating media when I changed my project over from a failing hard drive to a new one, I left the project on OVERNIGHT to locate media and its in the same spot. With such metalogging I have only been changing the names and descriptions of the files in the bin and I have a good few days work done on it. Is there any way to save the integrity of that bin without having to start an entirely new project over and start from scratch. This is most annoying.
I don't believe I have any corrupt rendered files, perhaps its a corrupted video?
Any help would be appreciated as I see no fix or announcement has come up for this problem yet.

  • Which Premiere Pro (CS6) project settings should I be using?

    Hi there
I am currently trying to use Premiere Pro CS6 to edit a Skype video call I recorded using Super Tintin, and I'm not sure what project settings I should l be using.
At the moment I am selecting HDV/HDV1080i25 (50i) when I set up the project, but when I come to add the video file to the project timeline, I am told that the file settings do not match the sequence settings and I am prompted to either change the settings, or keep the existing ones.
When I select 'keep existing settings' the video appears in a very small box in the centre of a large black screen, which obviously isn't what I'm looking for. When I select 'change sequence settings', however, the video fills the screen, which is great, but the video and audio are out of synch (when I play the file outside of CS6, they are in synch). Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
If it helps, here is some info regarding the file I'm currently working with:
    MP4, 9MB
    Frame width: 320
    Frame height: 240
    Frame rate: 14 frames/second
    Data rate: 529 kbps
Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks.

    Select a New Sequence
Select any preset in a folder Mobile & Devices
    go to the Setting tab
Set the parameters of the video and audio to your video file appropriately.
Save the preset under any convenient name.
create a sequence based on your preset.
    Enjoy.

  • Premiere Pro CS5 -capture settings for canon 30f/24f?

Latley I have been using a canon xha1 for some simple work projects. I am new to the HDV workflow, and I am very thrown off by the XHA1 formats and how to properly capture them.
I have not been able to find the proper way to set up a sequence for 30f settings. Knowing that the 30f is not really progressive which settings should I use. (also what would the proper settings be for 24f?)
PP CS5 seems to have the Canon XF MPEG2 presets. as well as the standard HDV settings. Below is a screen shot of what I assume I should be capturing with.
Lets say the footage is 30f. Which of the following should I use. Or is it netiher due to the 30f being interlaced. Any help would be grealty appreciated.
(Premiere Pro CS5 on windows 7)

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    Colin Brougham wrote:
You'd use the HDV 1080i30 preset for both; they're both interlaced.
That's not really true.  These formats carry the flags to tell the NLE which frames to drop.  It is progressive.
I use an HV40 with "f" mode all the time and Premiere reads it correctly as progressive.  Even after dropping a clip on the make a new item icon.

  • After Premiere Pro 6.02 update: Media offline

I just upgraded Premiere Pro from 6.01 to 6.02, opened my current projects, and all Canon 5D MK II clips (and an imported m4v clip), which were there in PPro 6.01, are now offline! :-( (HVX200 files, Screen recordings and audio only files are still there). That's bad, because I have to finish that project asap. In case there's no easy fix: can I downgrade to 6.01?

HFS+ Journaled has absolutely no positive effect on individual volumes. It helps data recovery with raid volumes and the OS drive with Time Machine. HFS+ Journaled however does cause allot of issues due to the Meta Data applied to the file system and adds significant performance degrading to drive requests in general. People who use HFS+ Journaled are simply creating far more failure points that will effect their editing experience and time frames. Honestly I see allot of Meta Data based issues on the Mac side in this forum and I would be willing to bet most would go away if the Drives would be formatted to HFS+ Non Journaled and then create a new master directory to copy the data back into to break the Meta Data ties in the volume table. Whether clients follow that advice is up to them. However people cannot hold Adobe at fault for issues caused by partition tables and OS specific functions when there are clear ways those are avoided. If clients are passing Storage media to others that use PC then they definitely want those media formatted HFS+ Non Journaled because right now Mac Drive has allot of issues with that. This is a clear message, to avoid failure follow recommended configuration policies.

what do i need from opening these files?

Im have the exact same issue with the importing or P2 files and premere crashing/ hagingup, i on the other hand have been using adobe for over 4 years and never had this issue, i still have CS5 on comp and there are no problems there, kinda silly i cant use CS6 for work....
so what did you exactly do to fix issue??
also i know exactly what porblem u are running into with the aspect ratio problems, been an issue for as long as i have been working with adobe premere and HVX, and i can help u there, simply dont use DVCproHD sequence if you are going to DVD just do a DV widscreen sequence and all the ratio problems will fix when u go to encore. or use DVCproHD sequence but drop the entire sequence you worked on into a DV widscreen sequence or an HDV sequence and resize acordingly (make lager or smaler so fits properly in 16/9) the problem is some of the P2 cameras are not a true 16/9 there like 15/9 or somthing, its odd, anyway thats what i do, it doesnt really ad much time and it workes

  • Premiere pro CS6.0.3 keeps crashing when exporting to H.264

    Good day everyone,
I am trying to export my timeline using some of the H.264 setting and it keeps crashing on me. Not all of the H.264 like the Apple and Android settings.  Those work fine.  But trying to export to  H.264 Youtube (any presets), H.264 HD 1080I 29.97 and HD 1080P 29.97 it will process to around 80%-95% than crash.  It gives me an error message than gives me three files that can help with finding the problem.
I have tried to export using Premiere and also AME.  They both crash at the same point.
I have tried creating new projects, new sequences and such.  No luck.
Currently I am using Premiere Pro CS6.03, Adobe Media Encoder CS 6.03 as well.  Windows 7 64bit, Intel Core [email protected] with 8GB ram.  My video card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670.  Any advice would be most helpful and appreciated.
    Thanks

I solved what might be a similar problem last evening by lowering the speed of my i7-3055K (nominal 3.9GHz) to 4.2GHz from 4.5GHz.
My symptoms were similar: new PC build (10 days old); crashing or blue screens about 1 minute into a 3 minute Premiere export or AME render, Win7 Pro.  The system had previously been very stable.  At first I suspected an H264 codec problem or an iTunes/Quicktime incompatibility but when an AVI render using the NTSC DV Widescreen preset crashed it broadened my search for solutions.  Mercury GPU render on/off did not fix the crash problem.
The render last evening was probably the first time that my new CPU was seriously stressed.  Lowering the CPU speed was the quick solution.  Overclocking sites/forums probably have tips on stress tests, memory tests, voltage tweaking, etc but as long as the system is stable I'll probably be satisified with the slower CPU solution.
The CPU cooling is the Intel stock fan.  32GB of Corsair memory is running at its rated PC1600.  CPU and memory voltages are the defaults, i.e., no tweaking.  Intel DZ77RE-75K motherboard. EVGA GTX680 FTW+ 4GB at its defaults, i.e., no overclocking/tweaking.  1000 watt power supply , which is probably overkill but it's what I had lying around (I have an almost identical setup (GTX460 rather than GTX680) which runs fine at 4.2GHz with a 700-watt PSU -- but I've never stressed that 2nd PC with an Premiere/AE/AME render).

  • 720p 120fps clip from GoPro Hero3 Black not recogniced by Premiere Pro CS6

Hello. My clip from Hero3 Black Gopro isn't recognized as a 120fps clip. I've read people saying that this is normal because premiere pro won't recognize them for anyone.. But it does, look at this clip:
    http://youtu.be/YeHCUNH4KcM
At around second 30 it shows how it recognizes that the file is actually 120fps, in that same screen, I get that the file is 59,94fps and not 120fps and it really is.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thank you.

I've created a few sample files for anyone interested. These files are straight from the camera.
    Here is a 1280 x 720 at 60 fps: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/92935787/1280x720%2059fps.MP4
    Here is a 1280 x 720 at 120 fps: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/92935787/1280x720%20119fps.MP4
    Here is a 1280 x 960 at 100 fps: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/92935787/1280x960%20100fps.MP4
Import these into Premiere Pro CS6 or even Media Encoder CS6 or After Effects, have a look at the metadata and both of the 720p videos will show up as 60 (59.94) fps. I tried this in Premiere Pro CS5 and had the same result.

  • Export Media in Premiere Pro CS6 ONLY produces an Audio File in Media Encoder

    First, all the system info:
Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1
Intel HD Graphics 3000 Display Adapter
    I’m using Premiere Pro CS6 Version 6.0.5 (001  (MC: 264587)) “Mighty Kilt”
Version 6.0.3.1 (64 Bit) of Adobe Media Encoder CS6
Other Adobe applications installed: AIR, Creative Cloud, Download Assistant, Encore CS6 Library, Flash Player 12 ActiveX, Flash Player 12 Plugin, Help Manager, Premiere Pro CS6, Premiere Pro CS6 Functional Content, Reader XI
I’ve run check for updates on both Premiere Pro and Media Encoder and everything is up to date
I'm producing a two disc, dual layer DVD set for 100 families of my son's marching band.
I have a half hour "masterwork" of interviews, performance segments, rehearsal sequences, credits, etc that I've edited together complete with sound, etc.
I also then have various other video segments from the season, some high quality (1920x1080) and some lower quality.
Rather than import everything into Encore and have Encore transcode them all at the same quality, I wanted to ensure that the half-hour piece and certain other segments were transcoded as high quality as possible and given the largest file sizes I could and then transcode other segments at lower quality levels as needed so everything would fit on the discs.
The company I'm using to duplicate/replicate the 100 DVDs from my Master DVD advised me to encode them FIRST in Premiere Pro as desired, and THEN import those files into Encore.
I've used Adobe Media Encoder a lot to export the individual segments into files I could upload to Youtube and have had no problem for the last several months.
    But now, two things happen:
    1) AME automatically designates the "Output File" with an .aac extension (see attached)
    2) When I do an "Import As" of the AME encoded file in Encore it only loads an audio file (obviously)
    Huh?
Here are the settings I use in my Export Media dialogue in Premiere Pro CS6:
    Format: MPEG2-DVD
    Preset: NTSC Widescreen High Quality
Output Name (and filetype): ______ name with Save as Type of "Video Files(*.mpg)
BOTH the "Export Video" and "Export Audio" boxes are checked (see attached screen print)
Filters Tab: left as is, don't do anything here
    Multiplexer Tab:
choose the "DVD" button (vs the "None" button)
Bitrate Type: left as Variable which is what is selected as a default
    Video Tab:
    Codec: Reads MainConcept MPEG Video
Quality: increase it to the max of 5
    TV Standard: NTSC
    Frame Rate: 29.97
    Field Order: None (Progressive)
    Pixel Aspect Ration: Widescreen 16:9
Render at Maximum Depth box checked
Bitrate Encoding: I choose CBR for my high quality segments and VBR 2-pass for my lower quality segments
Bitrate: kick it up to the max for high qulaity segments, adjust as needed to get the filesize I want for my lower quality segments
    Audio Tab:
    Audio Format: Dolby Digital
    Codec: Dolby Digital
Bitrate: At least 320, sometimes higher for the segments I want to be the highest quality
I check the "Use Maximum Render Quality" box
I chose "Queue" for everything and then let it run overnight
And yes, the original media has BOTH a video track and an audio track that works (see Screenprint)
So... what am I doing wrong, helpful experts????

Larry, Mark, Jim & Bill -
It is 1 am Tuesday morning and I'd do a primal scream if my family weren't all sleeping upstairs.
Somewhere along the way, I either read or was given the advice to just skip AME, load my videos as timelines in Encore, and just do the transcoding there.
I spent almost a day trying to figure out how to get "buttons" for my menus I was building (they weren't appearing in Encore's library like they should) and eventually found a simply workaround.
So I then spent the last 24 hours or so building all my menus, creating small clips for my "motion menu" buttons, getting all that straightened away.
Got really excited earlier tonight since it seemed like I was nearly finished and coming down the home stretch.
I hit "build" in Encore, went away for a couple hours, and came back to find a big error message awaiting me telling me that "Encoding Failed."
I have read a lot of posts, and the outlook is not good, or at least the possible solution not simple or short from a time perspective.
I have a 100 families awaiting their DVD they've paid for that they initially were told they'd have by mid-February. I've been telling everybody that they would have it - guaranteed - by this weekend when there's a band festival that would be ideal for distribution. The DVD duplication company says they have to have it by Wed morning at the absolute latest. Meaning I've got about 24 hours to figure this out and burn my dual-layer masters of the two DVDs or once again tell people "I know I guaranteed you'd have it by this weekend, but I don't have it ready yet."
Almost as importantly, I can't afford to keep spending the hours and hours and hours on this that I have. It's impacting my personal and professional life.
    Thus the primal scream.
The posts I read about the encoding failure all pretty much advise that I use AME to do all the transcoding work. Which of course brings me squarely back to my original problem: I cannot get a video file out of AME.
I'm embedding a screenshot of what I see when I click on the pull-down menu in the AME dialogue window. The problem: there is no MPEG2-DVD option listed to be chosen.
Although I'm relatively new to forums, I've read enough posts by now that it seems like most people are in crisis mode when they post. So I realize my situation is not all that unique. But from a newbie rookie in the field to you experts, I REALLY could use some assistance right now, because between this and the long, cold winter we've had, I'm about to lose it.  :-)
P.S. Mark, in answer to your question about frame rates, I have 18 different videos/films/projects that I'm including in my two DVD-set. There have probably been nearly 6-7 different cameras that have contributed footage to one or more of those films by borrowing camcorders of different brands and types and quality levels from people. Nearly every one of those 18 films have multi-camera sequences in them. And many films are collections of sequences which themselves are "nested sequences" sometimes three deep.  In otherwords, there is no way I can tell you all the various frame rates that may be represented among these 18 separate projects and I certainly can't go back and hope to change them all to the same one.
    Help. Please.  :-)

  • Premiere Pro CS6 and Media Encoder CS6 Color shift on export

    Hello,
I am working on an early 2008 Mac Pro with 2 X 3.2 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon Processors 32 GB of RAM a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB Graphics Card and I am running OS X 10.8.2.
I have the updated Version of Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and Media Encoder CS6 through the awesome Subscription program that Adobe has started.
My footage is shot with the Canon 1D Mark IV shot 1920X1080 at 24 FPS
I am importing the camera files and then exporting them after I cut them up in to Quicktime Pro Res 422 HQ files
With the technical explination out of the way here is my problem. I have color right from the camera files that I like. and with out doing any thing to change the color I export the footage and get a dramatic color shift. The exported file looks desaturated and slightly green.
I have tried using Media Encoder CS6 to export my footage and that has the same result.
I started my career as a photographic retoucher and use photoshop and light room constantly so I am pretty confident that i know color. I also calibrate my Lacie 526 and Lacie 324i montiors monthly as well as have a sensor that will slightly shift the profile depending on the time of day.
I have attached three screen shots that show the color shift exactly. Now what I need is a solution. What I am not seeing is color settings for Premiere. I am totally open to any suggestions on what I might be doing incorrectly.

I've been doing this for a few years now, and have come to some conclusions. Basically, the difference between still photography and video is like the difference between playing the trumpet and the sax. What you bring to the sax from playing trumpet is your ability to read music, what you know about composition, blending while playint with others, ect. But playing trumpet tells you nothing about how to physically play a sax. So it is with still photography and video.
For starters, your carefully calibrated computer monitor is just that, a computer monitor. It doesn't display the correct working space for video. What you need for WYSIWYG in video is a monitor that can show you the Rec.709 working space. Rec.709 has a different gamut, a different gamma, probably a different white point (D65), different phosphor colors, etc., etc., etc. Enought differences that it's difficult to make a computer monitor that can successfully display Rec.709. Yet there are a couple of computer monitors that can do this (a few Eizos, one HP). The vast majority of people doing serious color correction work in video use a production monitor for just this reason.
But a production monitor isn't enough. You also have to make sure that the signals you're sending the production monitor are correct. There's a sub-industry making signal converters for signals from NLE video cards (usually RGB based) -> signals for production monitors (usually YUV based).
That said, it is certainly possible to get a very good match between your NLE suite and a DVD / BD as displayed on an HDTV. But it's not as simple or easy as a calibrtated computer monitor for still photography use.
This is probably part of your problem. But Quicktime is probably the root of it. Quicktime is, well, I guess the polite way of saying it is that Quicktime is problematic. It gives all kinds of problems. Most people have abandoned it. You should too.
